BABIES: DIFFERENT NEEDS
FOR TINY BODIES
• Pound for pound, babies and children consume
more water, food, and oxygen than adults.
• Babies expel some toxins at a lower rate than adults.
• Infants and children grow and develop at a rapid rate.
• Babies exhibit frequent hand-to-mouth behavior.
• A growing body of scientific work indicates that
infants and children may suffer disproportionately
from environmental health and safety risks.
BABIES: DIFFERENT NEEDS FOR
TINY BODIES
• The physiological composition of a baby’s skin
is different than an adult’s, making babies
more vulnerable to toxins.
• Babies absorb substances at a much higher
rate, and the ratio between skin surface and
body weight is larger.
SUCH A SMALL AMOUNT
The accumulated total of harsh chemicals in the body is known as body
burden or bioaccumulation.
• Our bodies break down many of the toxins we are exposed to
but not all of them.
• Continuous exposure overloads our natural detoxification systems
and can lead to buildup in our bodies.
INGREDIENTS TO AVOID
• Synthetic fragrance: Companies do not have to
disclose the ingredients used in fragrances.
• Parabens: These are common preservatives.
Avoid ingredients with parabens, benzoic acid, or
propyl ester.
• Phthalates: These are other common
preservatives. Avoid products with diethylhexyl
phthalate, dibutyl phthalate, dimethyl phthalate,
or diethyl phthalate.
• 1,4-dioxane, ethylated surfactants: Avoid
ingredients listed as PEG, eth, or oxynol.
• Propylene glycol: This is a petroleum-based
chemical (listed as PEG or PG) that is found in
baby wipes and is used to absorb liquids and
maintain moisture levels.
• Mineral oil: This ingredient is a cheap byproduct of
petroleum processing. It acts as a barrier and
doesn’t allow the skin to release toxins.
• Triclosan: This is an endocrine disruptor often found
in antibacterial products.
• Bisphenol-A (BPA): This hormone-disrupting
chemical has been known to cause damage to the
brain, reproductive system, heart, and liver.
• SLS and SLES: These ingredients cause synthetic
products to foam and are possible human
carcinogens.
• Talc: A powdered mineral added to baby powders as
a drying agent. It can be a lung irritant and a
possible human carcinogen.

THE LIMBIC SYSTEM
SMELL ASSOCIATION
• Smell is the only one of the five senses that is
directly linked to the limbic lobe of the brain, the
emotional center.
• The limbic system plays a major role in regulating
emotions, impacting behavior, hormone function,
sleep patterns, and
long-term memory.

we are consciously aware of it.

get the sleep they need to function and grow.
This is especially important for babies!
• Routines impose some order in the chaos
of babyhood.
• The hour before bedtime can build and nurture
your relationship with your child.
• Creating a routine allows your child to know

it’s time to sleep.

IDENTIFYING A DIAPER RASH
• Diaper rash usually comes on quickly and
generally affects the areas in closest contact
with the diaper.
• Some identifying factors of a diaper rash are
redness where the diaper touches, swelling,
sensitivity, warmness, and extreme dryness
of the affected area.
• The main cause of diaper rash is prolonged
exposure to wetness in the diaper area.

Toxin Free Babies - Seedlings

  • 1.
  • 2. YOUNG LIVING SEEDLINGS™ From Mother Nature’s nursery to yours
  • 3. BABIES: DIFFERENT NEEDS FOR TINY BODIES • Pound for pound, babies and children consume more water, food, and oxygen than adults. • Babies expel some toxins at a lower rate than adults. • Infants and children grow and develop at a rapid rate. • Babies exhibit frequent hand-to-mouth behavior. • A growing body of scientific work indicates that infants and children may suffer disproportionately from environmental health and safety risks.
  • 4. BABIES: DIFFERENT NEEDS FOR TINY BODIES • The physiological composition of a baby’s skin is different than an adult’s, making babies more vulnerable to toxins. • Babies absorb substances at a much higher rate, and the ratio between skin surface and body weight is larger.
  • 5. SUCH A SMALL AMOUNT The accumulated total of harsh chemicals in the body is known as body burden or bioaccumulation. • Our bodies break down many of the toxins we are exposed to but not all of them. • Continuous exposure overloads our natural detoxification systems and can lead to buildup in our bodies.
  • 6. INGREDIENTS TO AVOID • Synthetic fragrance: Companies do not have to disclose the ingredients used in fragrances. • Parabens: These are common preservatives. Avoid ingredients with parabens, benzoic acid, or propyl ester. • Phthalates: These are other common preservatives. Avoid products with diethylhexyl phthalate, dibutyl phthalate, dimethyl phthalate, or diethyl phthalate. • 1,4-dioxane, ethylated surfactants: Avoid ingredients listed as PEG, eth, or oxynol. • Propylene glycol: This is a petroleum-based chemical (listed as PEG or PG) that is found in baby wipes and is used to absorb liquids and maintain moisture levels. • Mineral oil: This ingredient is a cheap byproduct of petroleum processing. It acts as a barrier and doesn’t allow the skin to release toxins. • Triclosan: This is an endocrine disruptor often found in antibacterial products. • Bisphenol-A (BPA): This hormone-disrupting chemical has been known to cause damage to the brain, reproductive system, heart, and liver. • SLS and SLES: These ingredients cause synthetic products to foam and are possible human carcinogens. • Talc: A powdered mineral added to baby powders as a drying agent. It can be a lung irritant and a possible human carcinogen.

Editor's Notes

  1. Objectives of this presentation: Understand the importance of using toxin-free products on babies Gain an overview of the products in Young Living’s Seedlings® line Discover practical ways to use Seedlings products Learn reasons to choose Seedlings over other infant products If you are tecahing a class, have Seedlings products on display and pass them around.
  2. The needs of infants and children are significantly different from those of adults and should be considered when selecting products that will affect them. For example, babies may have disproportionate exposures to toxins because pound for pound, they consume more food, water, and air than adults do. Infant development leads to babies putting everything they can into their mouths. No matter how hard you work to avoid it, anything you put on or near your baby’s hands will likely end up in his or her mouth. Due to the rapid rate of growth and development, babies have significant windows of vulnerability where their development can be permanently altered by exposure to chemicals and toxins. Even subtle damage to developing bodies can lead to disease later in life. Sources consulted http://www.who.int/heca/infomaterials/en/sustdev_children_health_env_JUL04.pdf https://www.cdc.gov/features/pehsu/index.html https://www.sharecare.com/health/kids-teens-health/why-children-vulnerable-environmental-toxins https://www.gpo.gov/fdsys/pkg/FR-1997-04-23/pdf/97-10695.pdf https://ehp.niehs.nih.gov/posting/new-addition-to-our-childrens-health-page
  3. The physiological structure and composition of a baby’s skin differ from that of an adult. In babies, the stratum corneum, or top layer of skin, is thinner, and other layers of the epidermis are not completely formed. These structural differences contribute to the vulnerability of an infant’s skin. In addition to structural differences, infant size plays a significant role in product absorption. While their skin allows more product to be absorbed, a small amount of product goes further. The amount of product that would be adequate for an adult’s hands could cover a baby’s entire body. Sources consulted http://www.medscape.org/viewarticle/743529
  4. Perhaps you’ve thought, “But it’s such a small amount,” as you used a commercial personal care product. It’s easy to ignore the harsh chemicals and toxins in the products we use when the amounts are miniscule. But before you reach for the next commercial product at the grocery store, consider bioaccumulation. Bioaccumulation is also known as body burden, and it is the build up of harsh chemicals and toxins in the human body. These harsh chemicals are found in many commercial personal care products, albeit in very small amounts, so the accumulation occurs over time. Since we know that some harmful chemicals build up in our bodies over time, the impact may not be evident until long after exposure. We also know that some chemicals have more impact on our bodies during certain periods, such as when we’re in the womb, during infancy, and during puberty, and that even tiny doses can be potent. To reduce the potential for bioaccumulation, it is vital to select the purest possible products to use on our babies. Sources consulted https://www.epa.gov/sites/production/files/2016-01/documents/national-bioaccumulation-factors-supplemental-information.pdf
  5. The Environmental Working Group has developed a list known as The Dirty Dozen, comprised of 12 harmful chemicals commonly found in personal care products and household products that they recommend people avoid.   The following 10 ingredients should be avoided specifically in baby products:   Synthetic fragrances. In addition to being synthetically developed, we do not often know which chemicals are being used to create the fragrance. Trade secret laws allow companies to keep this information private. 2. Parabens are generally used as preservatives in personal care products. They are suspected endocrine disruptors and may interfere with reproductive organs. In the ingredients list, be wary of parabens, benzoic acid, or propyl ester. 3. Phthalates are also used in personal care products as preservatives. In addition to possible endocrine disruption, they can lead to allergies, asthma, and other health issues and could be a possible human carcinogen. Avoid products with diethylhexyl phthalate, dibutyl phthalate, dimethyl phthalate, or diethyl phthalate. 4. 1,4-dioxane, ethylated surfactants. According to the Environmental Working Group, 57 percent of baby soaps contain 1,4-dioxane, although it is never listed as an ingredient. Steer clear of any ingredients that contain the letters eth (polyethylene, polyethylene glycol, ceteareth, oleth), oxynol, -xynol, and PEG. 1,4-dioxane is a potential carcinogen that has been linked to organ toxicity. It is usually used as the base of cream-type personal care products. 5. Propylene glycol is a petroleum-based chemical that is found in baby wipes and is used to absorb liquids and maintain moisture levels. In high concentrations, it can cause skin irritation and contact dermatitis. 6. Mineral oil is the main ingredient in most baby oils. It is a cheap byproduct of petroleum processing. 7. Triclosan. Anything that’s labeled as “antibacterial” likely contains triclosan, which is a potential carcinogenic endocrine disruptor. 8. BPA is a hormone-disrupting chemical and may cause damage to the brain, reproductive system, heart, and liver. 9. Sodium laurel sulfate and sodium laureth sulfate are commonly found in personal care products and numerous household cleaning products. SLS and SLES are foaming agents and are possible human carcinogens. 10. Talc is a powdered mineral added to baby powders. It is a drying agent, but it is also a lung irritant and potential carcinogen.   Sources consulted https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2854732 http://www.ewg.org/research/dirty-dozen-list-endocrine-disruptors http://www.foxnews.com/health/2016/02/07/5-toxic-chemicals-should-avoid-in-baby-care-products.html https://www.consumersafety.org/news/products/7-harmful-ingredients-in-baby-care-products
  6. We’re not here to frighten you! We want to provide you with the necessary information to make the best choices for the little ones in your life, whether they are your own children, grandchildren, nieces or nephews, or any other child you care about. We must be informed to make better decisions for our families and loved ones! The products we choose for our families are some of the few things we have control over in parenthood!
  7. With so many products to choose from for your baby, why Seedlings? As a parent or caregiver, you are constantly making decisions. Where do you find time to research the best products for your baby? When Young Living developed the Seedlings line, we took the guesswork out of the process. You don’t have to worry about whether the products you’re using on your little ones are pure or sourced from authentic suppliers—Young Living’s Seed to Seal commitment has done that for you. Young Living’s years of research and development, along with their standard for unparalleled quality, lets you know that you are choosing products you can trust.
  8. Seedlings was developed to give parents a better option. We know that parents make hundreds of decisions every day about the health and happiness of their loved ones. With Seedlings, we make it as easy as possible for parents to choose gentle, essential oil-infused products for the littlest, most vulnerable members of the family. The Seedlings product line offers products every parent needs in their nursery. Each of these products was formulated with a baby’s delicate skin in mind and use natural, plant-based ingredients. The line is hypoallergenic and vegan friendly, except for the OTC Diaper Rash Cream, which uses beeswax; it is, however, vegetarian friendly. The Seedlings line has also been dermatologist tested and pediatrician reviewed.
  9. The Seedlings line features Young Living’s Calm scent blend. The scent is relaxing and has a soft, gentle aroma.
  10. Young Living’s Calm scent blend has a base of Lavender essential oil and also includes Coriander, Geranium, Ylang Ylang, and furanocoumarin-free Bergamot—which means there is not a UV warning associated with this blend, so it’s fine for using on your baby before taking him or her outdoors.
  11. There’s nothing like the smell of a baby’s freshly washed skin. Now bath time can be even more soothing and sweet with the scent of Seedlings Baby Wash & Shampoo. Lightly scented with our Calm blend of pure essential oils—featuring Lavender for its soothing, calming aroma—this extra gentle formula leaves skin and hair clean, soft, and smooth without over-drying. Plus, it is dermatologist tested, hypoallergenic, and vegan friendly. Other features: • Tested and approved tear-free product • 2-in-1 product, makes bath time simple • Easy-to-use pump • 100 percent plant-based, naturally derived ingredients Pricing (Wholesale): $20.75, PV: 20.75
  12. Seedlings Baby Wash & Shampoo can be used when bathing infants of any age, including newborns. It is formulated without gluten-containing ingredients, but it has not been certified gluten free. The Bergamot used in the Calm oil blend is furanocoumarin free and, therefore, does not result in a UV reaction. Seedlings Baby Wash & Shampoo does not have a UV warning associated with its use.   Seedlings Baby Wash & Shampoo has a simple formulation. There are only 16 ingredients in this product, including the five different essential oils, and it is mild and extra gentle.   Calendula was added to support a baby’s sensitive, delicate skin. Calendula is native to the Mediterranean and has high amounts of flavonoids and plant-based antioxidants that protect baby’s skin against free radicals.   Eyebright, also known as euphrasia, is an herb that has been used in folk medicine. It was added to the Seedlings Baby Wash & Shampoo for the skin-nourishing effects and to boost the tear-free formula.
  13. This is a comparison of the ingredients in Seedlings Baby Wash & Shampoo, as well as ingredients commonly found in other popular choices on the market. These ingredients for Seedlings are in addition to those discussed on the previous slide. The first ingredient listed is sodium lauryl-glucosides hydroxypropylsulfonate. Earlier, when we shared the list of ingredients to avoid, we mentioned sulfates. It is important to note that Seedlings Baby Wash & Shampoo contains sulfonates and not sulfates. Sulfates are potentially harmful, while sulfonates are natural surfactants derived from non-GMO corn and coconut oil. Sulfonates are compounds that possess a carbon-sulfur bond, whereas sulfates are aggressive detergents made from sulfur-containing minerals. To put it simply, sulfonates are natural, sulfates are synthetic.   You will also notice an EWG score column. The EWG is the Environmental Working Group, and they score the toxicity of ingredients in personal care products. They test ingredients and give them a toxicity score of 1 to 10, with 1 being safest and 10 being most harmful.   Most ingredients used in the Seedlings line are rated at a 1 or 2, while many commercial baby wash and shampoo products on the market are given a very high EWG score. This is because they generally contain synthetic fragrance, parabens and phthalates as preservatives, ethylated surfactants as the based, and SLS and SLES to creating the foaming feel.   Sources consulted http://www.ewg.org/skindeep
  14. Bath time gets your little one clean, but it is also very important for your infant’s well-being and development. One thing that becomes very valuable in bath time is that parents are distraction free, as technology has no place in a splash-filled bathroom!   Baths are also significant because they engage all the senses. According to Tiffany Field, Director of the Touch Research Institute and developmental psychologist, “Bath time is significant because it’s probably the time when babies get touched more than any other time during the day, and so it becomes a very important activity for the parents.” But it’s not just touch that makes bath time special. It’s also the engagement of other senses, from watching bubbles burst to listening to the water. “Babies’ brains are built to really pay attention and really light up when there is multisensory stimulation. The more sense you engage, the better,” Tiffany explains.
  15. Seedlings Baby Oil is formulated specially for an infant’s delicate skin. This mild, gentle product contains 100 percent pure essential oils diluted to an appropriate strength, and its plant-based formula is lightly scented with our Calm blend of Lavender, Coriander, Bergamot, Ylang Ylang, and Geranium.   The non-greasy formula moisturizes, soothes, and nourishes a baby’s skin. It absorbs smoothly; provides a light, calm aroma; and promotes a relaxing environment. Formulated without mineral oil, it is vegan friendly and suitable for everyday use. It is also dermatologist tested and hypoallergenic.   Seedlings Baby Oil can be applied using baby massage techniques for sweet bonding with your little one. Because it is non-greasy and absorbs gently into skin, your baby won’t slip out of your hands after applying it!   The product formulation is super clean, and the ingredients moisturize, soothe, and nourish an infant’s healthy-looking skin.   Pricing (Wholesale): $24.25, PV: 24.25
  16. In addition to the Calm essential oil blend and fractionated coconut oil, Seedlings Baby Oil also contains apricot kernel oil, safflower seed oil, and prickly pear seed oil, which are considered dry and non-greasy oils. These “dry” carrier oils moisturize and absorb quickly and thoroughly into the skin, leaving baby’s skin soft, hydrated, and smooth after applying.   Apricot kernel oil and prickly pear seed oil have high concentrations of linoleic acid, which is one of the three essential fatty acids. They also contain oleic acid. The baby oil also contains plant-based, non-GMO tocopherols in the form of vitamin E.
  17. Comparing Young Living’s Seedlings Baby Oil to others on the market is eye-opening, as most traditional baby oils contain only two listed ingredients: mineral oil and synthetic fragrance. The Environmental Working Group gave mineral oil a score of 3 and synthetic fragrance a score of 8!   Mineral oil is a cheap byproduct of petroleum processing and acts as a barrier on the skin, which does not allow the skin to breathe and release toxins. Fragrance is dangerous because it could contain hundreds of potentially harmful ingredients, yet companies do not have to disclose the chemicals they use because they are considered trade secrets.   Sources consulted http://www.ewg.org/skindeep
  18. Baby massage may sound overzealous, but it can have many lasting positive effects on our babies, and it only takes a few minutes.   In many ways, touch is considered our first language. In addition to the physiological benefits—such as supporting digestion, muscle development, weight gain, and boosting the immune system—it is also beneficial to brain development. Gentle touch, like that of baby massage, can help babies grow stronger and feel less anxiety. Those who experience routine touch show 50 percent more eye contact and are three times more likely to have an overall positive expression than those who don’t! Also, research has shown that routine touch and massage can lead to improved cognitive performance and increased alertness in children.   Sources consulted https://www.babycentre.co.uk/a1042915/massaging-your-baby http://www6.miami.edu/touch-research/infantmassage.html

This non-greasy lotion supports moisture barrier function and smoothly absorbs into a baby’s delicate skin, leaving it moisturized, soft, and smooth. 20. Seedlings Baby Lotion contains coconut oil, Calm essential oil blend, murumuru butter, mango butter, cocoa butter, calendula, annatto oil, and apple extract. The mango seed, murumuru seed, and cocoa seed butters are all high-quality butters known for their high fatty acid content.   Mango butter is an exotic and sought-after butter known for nourishing the skin. It is similar to shea and cocoa butters but with a slightly different fatty acid content. It is found in the rain forest and harvested from the seed kernel of the mango tree.   Murumuru butter comes from murumuru palm trees native to the Amazon. It’s highly moisturizing, absorbs easily into skin, and helps support the skin’s moisture barrier. The tree produces a natural fruit, and the butter is extracted from the seed of the fruit.   Cocoa butter is extracted from the roasted seeds of the theobroma tree, which is native to the Americas.   Apple fruit extract was added to the formula as an active ingredient to retain skin hydration, and the annatto oil comes from a tree/shrub found in tropical climates. It is cultivated in South American and southeastern Asia and was introduced in the 17th century to the Spaniards. Annatto oil is what gives Seedlings Baby Lotion the yellowish color and is soothing to the skin.   The flower petals of the calendula plant have been used for health purposes since the 12th century, and it has been added for its moisturizing effects.

  22. Olfaction is our sense of smell. It is the sense most closely tied to memory because of its close connections to the parts of the brain responsible for emotion and memory, the limbic system.   Stimuli that activate your sense of smell are called odorants. When you inhale odorant molecules, they interact directly with the lining of the nose (olfactory epithelium). When olfactory neurons in the upper part of the nose detect odorants, they generate an impulse that is passed to the brain along the olfactory nerve. This information is then passed to the olfactory bulb, which processes the signal and passes information about the smell to the limbic system. The olfactory bulb has direct connections to the amygdala and hippocampus, which are both strongly implicated in emotion and memory. Interestingly, information about sound and touch do not pass through these parts of the brain. This may be why the sense of smell is so effective at triggering emotions and memories.   Activity Outline this process for your class: • Odorant molecules rise to the top of the nose. • Odorant molecules meet receptors. • Receptors signal through the olfactory nerve, which signals the olfactory bulb. • The bulb processes information (discriminates and filters) before sending it to the limbic system.   Within the lining of the nose, there are smell receptors. When a scent is perceived by the smell receptors, a message is sent to the limbic system of the brain where the scent is processed and response happens. The sense of smell can have a profound impact on our emotions because the olfactory bulb (where scents are perceived) is directly connected with the limbic system in the brain.
  23. Olfaction is the sense most closely tied to memory because of its close connections to the limbic system, the part of the brain responsible for emotion and memory.   The limbic system is made of structures that play a major role in controlling mood, memory, behavior, and emotion. When a smell arrives at the limbic system, unique neurochemicals are released, and a variety of certain reactions can be caused.
  24. The next product in the Seedlings line is Seedlings Linen Spray. This product is extremely versatile and safe for fabrics; it not only freshens fabrics but also creates a peaceful and calming atmosphere.   Pricing (Wholesale): $16.75, PV: 16.75
  25. Seedlings Linen Spray is made from pure, pristine products and—perhaps most importantly—is free of alcohol. It is vegan friendly and contains none of the ingredients discussed earlier: sulfates, parabens, phthalates, petrochemicals, synthetic preservatives, synthetic fragrances, or synthetic.   It has a basic ingredient profile of fractionated coconut oil, Calm essential oil blend, and a few additional plant-based ingredients.
  26. The store brand linen sprays list only three ingredients: alcohol, odor eliminators, and synthetic fragrance. While you might not recognize all of the Seedlings ingredients—glyceryl caprylate and sodium cocoyl—for instance, the source for all of the ingredients are plant based. By empowering yourself, you can learn that even though a name may sound like a chemical, that isn’t always a bad thing, as those names can be plant based, rather than synthetic toxins.   Sources consulted http://www.ewg.org/skindeep
  27. Having a bedtime routine for children is very important. Establishing and maintaining good sleep habits will help your child fall asleep, stay asleep, and wake up rested and refreshed. According to the National Sleep Foundation, sleep is the primary activity of the brain during early development, and sleep directly impacts mental and physical development. A bedtime routine should be simple and the same every night. The sooner you establish a bedtime routine the better; even babies as young as 6–8 weeks can benefit!   Sources consulted http://www.webmd.com/parenting/childs-bedtime#1 https://psychcentral.com/lib/the-value-of-a-childs-bedtime-routine

Witch hazel was added as a skin conditioning agent; our source is organic and is gentler than drug store witch hazel, which is a hydrosol.   Soapberry fruit is used as a cleaning agent. The soapberry is a fruit native to India. It contains naturally occurring saponins, a cleaning agent, which help Seedlings Baby Wipes provide gentle and thorough cleansing that doesn’t irritate a baby’s tender skin. They are also alcohol free and use pyrus malus fruit extract as a moisturizer.   These biodegradable wipes are considered vegan friendly, as all ingredients used are plant based, food grade, and not derived from animals.
  30. Let’s again look at the common ingredients found in many baby wipes: polysorbate 20 is one of the ethylated surfactants we discussed earlier that is a possible carcinogen linked to organ toxicity. We also again see synthetic fragrance, as well as caprylyl glycol, which is a petroleum-based chemical found in baby wipes that can cause skin irritation.   Seedlings Baby Wipes are formulated with soapberry, a natural surfactant. Soapberries are harvested from a wild fruit found in the foothills of the Himalayas. Botanical surfactants are comprised of saponins found in the fruit of the soapberry. To preserve and capture the soapberry’s essence, a gentle water process is used for extraction.   Sources consulted http://www.ewg.org/skindeep
  31. There are many ways to make diaper changes a fun interaction between you and your little one! Here are some of our favorites:   Get moving: Once your baby starts to crawl, usually between 9 and 12 months, the few minutes it takes to stop and get a diaper change feel like an eternity! Play a diaper-changing game that lets your busy bee move on the changing mat. Try a few baby yoga poses—like bringing a knee up to her chest and then slowly moving it toward the opposite side or gently pulling her arm across her body—all while narrating what you’re doing. Once the clean diaper is in place, guide her through some baby aerobics. Ten seconds of bicycling or kicking her legs should get her revved up and ready to crawl.   Pictures: Beat back boring by creating your own art installation: an ever-changing collage of pics on the wall next to the changing table. Start by taping up photos of babies cut from magazines—other infants are infinitely interesting—and create a diaper-changing game by pointing at the pipsqueaks and asking questions about them.   Stories: By 4 months old, your little one can laugh up a storm, so keep it simple with a diaper-changing game that’s a comedy gold mine for babies. Turn talk time into your own diaper-changing game by telling your baby a made-up tale as soon as his diaper comes off. To the littlest babies, the sing-song sound of your voice is soothing—and may get him to stop squirming—and older babies can help you keep the story flowing by pointing to things you include in your story such as a favorite blanket or a pair of shoes. Make sure to plop your baby’s name into the story, too. Just like adults, babies pay more attention when they hear their name.
  32. Seedlings Diaper Rash Cream is made with 100 percent naturally derived ingredients, including 100 percent pure essential oils, botanicals, and non-nano zinc oxide. It is also vegetarian friendly. This thick, Lavender-scented cream reduces the duration and severity of diaper rash when applied at the first sign of redness. It soothes on contact and protects a baby’s delicate skin.   Seedlings Diaper Rash Cream can be used as a preventative measure before bed or anytime exposure to wet diapers may be prolonged. The extra gentle, mild formula—developed specially for an infant’s tender skin—seals out wetness and helps balance skin moisture while reducing redness. Seedlings Diaper Rash Cream can be used on babies of any age, including newborns.   Pricing (Wholesale): $27.75, PV: 27.75
  33. Seedlings Diaper Rash Cream is an OTC (over-the-counter) product because of the inclusion of zinc oxide as an active ingredient.   It is different from KidScents® Tender Tush, which is a thinner ointment designed primarily to moisturize dry skin, including the diaper area. Seedlings Diaper Rash Cream is a thick, white paste that seals out wetness and contains zinc oxide to treat, prevent, and relieve diaper rash.   Seedlings Diaper Rash Cream contains beeswax, so the formula is vegetarian but not vegan.   Murumuru butter comes from murumuru palm trees native to the Amazon. It is highly moisturizing, smooths easily onto skin, and helps support the skin’s moisture barrier. We also use sea buckthorn as a skin moisturizer in the formula.   White kaolin clay helps absorb moisture when used on rashes. The active ingredient in the cream is non-nano zinc oxide. Non-nano means that the size of the particles won’t clog the pores but will act as a barrier to the skin.
  34. Seedlings Diaper Rash Cream contains an extensive botanical extract list, including safflower seed, plantain leaf, chickweed, calendula, and German chamomile (wonderful to support healthy skin), Lavender, Helichrysum, and Black Spruce essential oils.   Sources consulted http://www.ewg.org/skindeep
  35. Diaper rash usually comes on quickly, and it affects the areas of baby’s body that are in closest contact with the diaper. While there are some common symptoms of diaper rash, there is wide variation in what diaper rash looks like. They can be super uncomfortable, but you can use Seedlings Diaper Rash Cream at the first sign of redness, and it will provide immediate relief to your little one.
  36. Being a parent or caretaker is the hardest job you will ever have! As this quote states, “There is no way to be a perfect parent, but there are a million ways to be a good one.” Throughout the course of parenthood, there are a lot of things that happen that are completely out of our control. Something you can control is the products you use on your baby.
