Impact of India's economic growth on tourism
India is currently enjoying an economic boost and a successful financial system in place in our country has helped to build the image of brand India.
Some economists credit success of the Indian financial system to the income generated by the tourism segment, movements across the crosssection of
rising business opportunities, opening up of agricultural and educational sectors, and novel and attractive packaging for brandbuilding of India, which,
in turn, have benefited the travel industry as well. Besides this, strategic planning of excursion packages, eco–tourism, sports events that bring the
spotlight on India and greater patronage by greater number of MNCs heading to our shores have contributed to the growth of the Indian economy and
thereby Indian tourism. The World Tourism Organisation reports that as many as 698 million people traveled to a foreign country in 2000, spending
over $478 billion while on tour. If India too had a share in these results, then surely the impact of the Indian economy as a contributor to the rising
world economy and on tourism cannot be ignored. More of free spending of disposable incomes, opening up of markets and better scope for
industrialisation and earning opportunities have led the way for India's economy to successfully launch the enhanced tourism sector.

sustainability and progression of tourism in a country. Tourists may initially be drawn to a particular destination's architecture, history or leisure
facilities however exposing the tourists to cultural events and dissemination of cultural information can get tourists to categorize the country as a
frequent travel destination for vacations and trips. Tourists usually like to explore and know more about the culture of the country they are travelling to
hence exhibiting the culture through cultural events is an excellent way to gratify this need. The boom in tourism in recent decades as has opened the
world to cross cultural exchanges and culture has become a vital part of tourism.
Cultural tourism as one of the subsystems of tourism does assume a noteworthy part in connecting cultural limits through tourist and host interactions.
Be that as it may, there are some cultural false impressions that still exist and cultural tourism ought to be considered in the rundown of techniques to
address these deficiencies. It ought to be noticed; that cultural travellers visit host puts basically to experience the life methods for the hosts or

compared with 2003, and a 10% increase in spending).
Britain was the first European country to industrialise by 1800 and the industrial society was the first society to offer time for leisure to a growing
number of people. Initially this did not apply to the working masses, but rather to factory owners and traders. These comprised the new middle class.
The British origin of the tourism industry is reflected in many place names. For example, in Nice, one of the first and best established holiday resorts
on the French Riviera, the long boulevard along the seafront is known as the 'Promenade des Anglais'.
Tourism did not spread to LEDCs or NICs, such as those in South America and South East Asia, until the 1980s due to the lower living standards and
lower rate of economic development. However, as countries in these regions, such as Brazil, Singapore and Malaysia, are beginning to industrialise,
living standards are increasing. For example, in 1995 GDP per capita in Brazil was $6150

In India, the variety in social life is amazing. There are diversities of ethnic, economic, religious, class and cast groups all within the Indian society.
The cast system has made Indians very obsessed over rank and status. Social relations often start with measuring the person based on caste, ethnic
