The Magnetic North!!! The Magnetic North is the place compasses point to. Because of large deposits of magnetic metal in the ground, compasses point to an area near the top of the earth. It isn't right at the geographic north pole, but it's close enough to be helpful in showing directions. It doesn't work as well when you get up close to it. In fact, at the geographic North Pole, your compass would be pointing south to the magnetic North Pole. If You were on the Magnetic North Your compass would be going in circles!!!
The Magnetic South!!! The Magnetic South is the place compasses don’t point to. Yes, there is a Magnetic South Pole, but it doesn’t get line up in a north-south direction, but people only talk about the end of the needle that is pointing north. Perhaps the reason that gets more attention is because most of the world's people live north of the equator where most of the land is.
The Geographic North!!! The Geographic North is the most northern place on earth . The Geographic North is hard to identify. The out where the spot is based on longitude and latitude. Come to think of it...what would be the longitude and latitude of the North Pole be? If you are 90º above the equator, that's 90º north latitude. If you are right on the Prime Meridian, that’s 0º longitude. If you are 90º
The Geographic South!!! The Geographic South is the most southern place on earth. The Geographic South The has a ring od national flags surrounding a candy-striped pole with a shiny ball on top. Even though there is land under the ice at the south pole, but the ice moves a few centimeters, so the pole and flags have to be readjusted over and over to the new location. In a way, a person who walks around the ring of flags has just made an around-the-world trip in record time!!!
A modern world globe!!! A Baroque era celestial globe!!! The Earth!!!
