Our final choice 
Social Media 
We have chosen social media as the topic of our documentary for a number of reasons. The target age 
for our documentary is between 16-24. Our generation is known as the generation of social media due 
to our excessive use of the numerous social networking sites. 
These 2 reasons combined provide an initial basis for our documentary. The target audience age is 
convenient for us to carry out research and produce our documentary in the college as the students are 
between the ages of 16-19 which correlates with our target age therefore being easy to access for our 
audience research and vox pop’s. 
The topic of Social media will be interesting to our target audience as it is a current and a main element 
in todays society. 
We are hoping to portray arguments for and against social media linking it to how it is affecting us as 
people in this generation. 
In our documentary we are going to include; vox pops of students giving their personal opinions on 
social media, a psychology teachers view on social media, archival footage on lives before social media, 
a person with a lot of instagram followers and the effect they feel it has on them.

We have chosen to use this question for our documentary as we want to explore the possible 
effects that social media may be having on the people using them. We are hoping to get other 
peoples opinions on social media and their views on the effects of social media. Due to the 
readily available target age students we are able to use this provides us with an advantage to gain 
as much information as possible. 
We are hoping that using this target audience age we will be able to explore in detail peoples true 
thoughts and feelings on one of todays biggest phenomenon.
What we’re including 
• We will interview an individual with a lot of Instagram followers and ask them 
about the affect they feel Instagram has on them. 
• We will interview a psychology teacher and ask them about the psychological 
effects that social media is having on us. 
• Vox pops on members of the public and ask them about their view on the effect 
social media is having on us as people 
• Use archival footage of teenagers before the use of social networking sites.
