This document summarizes a tool for static fab planners that analyzes conveyor usage and models layouts simply and quickly. It was developed by Adrian Horga from June to July 2010 with contributions from Silviu Dinuta and Diana Flacar. The project had phases for requirements, design, development, and integration/testing. Risks included insufficient time for development or testing. OpenProj was identified as a free tool to help plan projects simply and decrease planning time.

Open Innovation - Best Practices for Raw Material Companies

Mining and raw materials companies have longer and costly innovation cycles.The objective of the project was to build on top of the established Open Innovation (OI) body of knowledge a set of best practices and tools specifically tailored to raw material companies. The project consisted of an open innovation assessment study and piloting a digital collaboration tool in an online OI workshop in a mining company.

In this document we describe the challenges introduced to the project by the geographically distributed nature of the project partners and our approach to ensuring an efficient development methodology based on “agile” principles. We propose the use of DevOps to support incremental software releases and ongoing requirements updates, and show, using examples from the GRAVITATE platform development, how this is being implemented.
