Tom Garrecht is a German designer and team trainer. The document discusses some of his work developing digital formats for corporate design at Siemens in the 1990s. It also mentions his role as Creative Director at designafairs, where he led projects in various media for clients like Siemens, Arcor, and Daimler-Chrysler. More recently, he has worked independently on projects for clients in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, and also teaches design processes and design thinking to students.
Technische Universität München November 2014 Neil Marshall
Neil Marshall is a chartered architectural technologist and chartered construction manager who has been implementing BIM within his practice since 2005. The document discusses his experience transitioning to BIM on several projects in the early 2010s. It describes the training and support provided to staff, challenges encountered with clashing software platforms, and benefits observed like improved coordination, visualization of designs, and client engagement. The implementation of BIM helped deliver projects on time and within budget by utilizing federated models for clash detection and single sources of truth.
This document discusses the use of building information modeling (BIM) and integrated project delivery (IPD) on construction projects. It outlines a three step process of using BIM, virtual design and construction, and IPD. The focus is on collaboratively using a shared BIM model in Revit to facilitate design, documentation, coordination, cost estimating, fabrication and construction. Challenges that can be barriers to IPD are also discussed, such as lawyers leading instead of collaborating and failures to effectively engage stakeholders or handle information handoffs.
This document discusses the importance of communicating design decisions to stakeholders. It notes that design can be subjective and intuitive, making it difficult to explain decisions to others. The key message is that communicating the rationale for design work will become more important than the design itself. It provides principles for design communication, including identifying problems, describing solutions, empathizing with users, appealing to business needs, and securing agreement. Overall it argues that explaining design choices is critical and one of the biggest failures is the illusion that communication has already occurred.
The document outlines the key elements of a BIM execution plan (BEP), including defining project goals and objectives, standards, stakeholders, software, meetings, deliverables, and more. It emphasizes collaboration in developing the BEP to facilitate adoption and help the project stay on track. The BEP strategy is to create a concise plan that improves accuracy, avoids rework, defines roles, and meets client expectations. Team member roles and responsibilities are also identified.
BIM for Building Services Engineering - HKIE seminar in 2014Stephen Au
The document discusses the application of building information modeling (BIM) in building services engineering. It introduces MTECH Engineering and provides an overview of BIM, including its uses in design (as-design BIM), construction (as-construct BIM), and facilities management (as-built BIM). Real-time collaboration using BIM can significantly cut costs, improve job site productivity, and enhance project quality.

DES 680 Digital Design course covers topics related to design, innovation, and motion design. It discusses how the designer's role has changed with new technologies and how designers are uniquely positioned to lead innovation through intuition, experimentation, and empathy. Designers can use brand platforms and goal-directed design processes to create products and services that are useful, usable, and desirable. Motion design integrates skills from various fields to create graphic content for animation and video. Strategic designers excel at considering problems from different perspectives, controlling design processes, and scaling their abilities to tackle both small and large challenges.
The document discusses how design has evolved from focusing on aesthetics and efficiency to leading innovation through intuitive, experimental, and empathetic approaches. It also discusses how designers are uniquely positioned to explore new ideas and reach new solutions. Motion design is described as a convergence of various disciplines like animation, illustration, and graphic design. The goal-directed design process emphasizes understanding users and defining products through research rather than isolated visual design. Strategic designers are said to be able to think at both a high level and in details, know the design process well, and leverage teams effectively.

The phases include defining problems and understanding needs, sketching solutions, deciding on a solution, prototyping it, and validating it with users. The document also addresses potential hurdles like people issues and mindsets that can arise, and provides advice on how to address them, such as assigning roles and ensuring collaboration. It promotes a focus on listening, adapting, and valuing individuals over rigid processes. In conclusion, it provides information on Design Sprint tools and confirms that with preparation, Design Sprints can help teams solve problems.
How to Simplify the Design-to-Print Process and Stretch Budgets Further - Jon...marcus evans Network
Jonathan Milner, Co-Founder of Aire Adaptical Design Ltd, recommends that FMCG companies adopt a three-tier agency model to streamline the design-to-print process and make budgets go further. The three-tier model involves a strategic agency developing the brand idea, a second agency adapting the design across touchpoints, and a third agency handling final production. This allows designs to reach the market faster and more consistently while reducing costs.

“the holistic approach to reality” – die ganzheitliche Herangehensweise
notwendigen cross over zwischen marketing – communication – branding – user inter-
Dräger, Daimler-Chrysler, Fujitsu-Siemens, Siemens Medical, Siemens Building Automation,
