The students at Al-Hasan ibn Al-Haytham High School for Boys in Irbid, Jordan investigated the important issue of smoking in collaboration with the Humanities School in Brooklyn, New York, USA. Together they created a campaign about the awareness of the problem of smoking, and the damages that result from smoking in hopes to lower and stop smoking around the world.
Tobacco has been used for a very long time in the Americas and some of the adjacent countries due to its intense effects on the central nervous system and the feeling of excitement brought about by it. Tobacco is a type of agricultural crops that contains a chemical that is required for the production of cigarettes and chewed tobacco products. Within the tobacco leaf, there is a specific chemical known as nicotine, which is an ingredient that leads to addiction and causes tobacco abuse. This is why many people who smoke cigarette (intake of nicotine) will get addicted and will not easily quit tobacco use, thus developing a condition known as tobacco abuse or tobacco dependence. Tobacco abuse or tobacco dependence can be defined as an addiction to the use of tobacco products due to the intake of nicotine substance. For this reason, nicotine is the chemical that is responsible for the cause of this addiction or abuse. There is no safe level of tobacco use. Our body will become dependent on nicotine psychologically or physically. Once you start using tobacco, you will find it very difficult to stop using it. This is because the body has developed a tolerance to the effects of nicotine. In addition, tobacco use cannot be stopped abruptly as it will interrupt with the normal body functions for someone who relies on it to kick start the day.
In these slides the affects and causes of smoking are discussed. The probable solutions to smoking are also discussed at length. The causes and affects of smoking Sheesha and Hookah are also discussed in these slides. Moreover, a little discussion on Gutka and Chalia has also been done.

Flu Vaccine Alert in Bangalore Karnatakaaddon Scans
As flu season approaches, health officials in Bangalore, Karnataka, are urging residents to get their flu vaccinations. The seasonal flu, while common, can lead to severe health complications, particularly for vulnerable populations such as young children, the elderly, and those with underlying health conditions.
Dr. Vidisha Kumari, a leading epidemiologist in Bangalore, emphasizes the importance of getting vaccinated. "The flu vaccine is our best defense against the influenza virus. It not only protects individuals but also helps prevent the spread of the virus in our communities," he says.
This year, the flu season is expected to coincide with a potential increase in other respiratory illnesses. The Karnataka Health Department has launched an awareness campaign highlighting the significance of flu vaccinations. They have set up multiple vaccination centers across Bangalore, making it convenient for residents to receive their shots.
To encourage widespread vaccination, the government is also collaborating with local schools, workplaces, and community centers to facilitate vaccination drives. Special attention is being given to ensuring that the vaccine is accessible to all, including marginalized communities who may have limited access to healthcare.
Residents are reminded that the flu vaccine is safe and effective. Common side effects are mild and may include soreness at the injection site, mild fever, or muscle aches. These side effects are generally short-lived and far less severe than the flu itself.
Healthcare providers are also stressing the importance of continuing COVID-19 precautions. Wearing masks, practicing good hand hygiene, and maintaining social distancing are still crucial, especially in crowded places.
Protect yourself and your loved ones by getting vaccinated. Together, we can help keep Bangalore healthy and safe this flu season. For more information on vaccination centers and schedules, residents can visit the Karnataka Health Department’s official website or follow their social media pages.
Stay informed, stay safe, and get your flu shot today!

2. Tobacco is an agricultural, greeny, leaf- type crop which is grown in warm climates. Tobacco is used in many different ways but is most commonly found in cigarettes, pipes, cigars or can even be chewed. Why is it a drug? Tobacco is a drug because it contains nicotine. This product is one of the 4000 chemicals in a cigarette and which also makes tobacco addictive and habit forming. Just like any drug, nicotine affects the body in many ways. It makes us feel like we have more energy and also increases blood pressure and heart beat.
3. Short term effects: Some short term effects include the raise in blood pressure, heart rate and the flow of blood from the heart. It also causes the arteries to narrow and reduces the amount of oxygen the blood can carry. The temperature of your fingers and toes also decreases causing shaking and passing out. Other people can also have short term effects such as smoke inhalation through passive smoking. Long term effects: Long term effects are more harmful and disastrous. The main long term effect is any type of cancer in the lung, larynx, oesophagus, mouth and the bladder. Because there are over 40 chemicals in a tobacco cigarette, it can also cause heart disease, lung disease and strokes. In the long run, it also causes bad breath and odour. These are not only the long term effects of the smoker, but also the innocent passive smokers. If the smoker is pregnant, the baby can receive brain damage and other health problems and disabilities throughout the birth process.

5. 1. The Quitline is an ideal place to start and learn how to quit. The program understands the difficulties of quitting smoking and sets tasks for you to quit. When you call the centre, you can chose to speak to trained advisors or receive a self quit package. They give you very useful advice and talk through different methods and procedures, that would suit you, without having to pay a cent. 2. Using Nicorette patches is also a great way to quit smoking by yourself. There are different types of patches, but each patch has a different dose of nicotine which slowly decreases over a 2-4 week period. Research shows that Nicorette has been extremely successful in helping smokers quit and is a great way to feel much better about yourself and reject smoking. 3. Another way of quitting is using the home kit-quit DVD made by a company called Smokenders . The DVD is produced by former smokers who know and have experienced how hard quitting smoking is. It deals with every aspect of the smoking habit and contains a step-by-step guide to help all smokers quit and make sure it stays that way. The experienced producers make the DVD reliable and helpful.
