3. I. Introduction
We are all aware that teen smoking is becoming one of the most leading and real
issue faced by many institutions especially in Lower Bala National High School. 13-16
years old are prone to using smokes. Teenagers starts smoking for different reason. Some
think it looks cool. Others are encouraged by their friends to try cigarettes and to keep
smoking. They see smoking as the way of rebelling. They think that everyone else is
smoking and that they should do, too (https://www.lung.org > quit smoking).
This symposium is worthy for the support from the government because this activity can
help the students understand and know what are the long term effects of a cigarette
user.
II. Rationale and Background
Teenagers who engage their lives into smoking might risk their health. 20 percent of
high school (grades 9-12) are current smokers. 6.5 percent of eight graders are current
smokers (Kids Health 2022). The majority of children in elementary school and the early
part of middle school have tried a cigarette. Most will tell you that they will never smoke
cigarettes and they mean what they’re saying. But as they get older, some will become
4. more open to the idea of smoking. (National Jewish Health) states that increased risk for
heart disease, increased risk for chronic lung disease, increased risk for lung and other
cancers are the long term effects of smoking. It also affected their study, behavior, it
affects the people around you or the ssecond hand smoker, they have high chances to
gain more diseases than the tobacco user. This activity aims to capture the minds of the
students to gain more knowledge about the bad effects of cigarettes in their health.
III. Project Description
The intention of this symposium is to help the teenagers or students in Lower Bala
National High School to stop smoking and to prevent the students curiosity in taking
cigarettes.
In the implementation of prohibiting the students on smoking, the proponents of the
project shall undergo the following methodology:
A. Stop the Masamang Langhap Seminar
This activity informs the students on the possible bad effects or diseases that they might
get in taking cigar and encouraging them to eradicate their addiction on cigarettes. Get
the name of the students who’s active in taking the said habits, and we will have our next
symposium in order to conduct our survey of the current smoker students if they have
improve or have they totally exterminate smoking in their lives.
5. B. Project Plan
The anticipated outcomes of this symposium are measured in the following forms:
The students of Lower Bala National High School will gain more knowledge,
information and ideas of how cigarette affects our daily lives.
The student who already stop smoking will have a healthy life.
The students will be encouraged to stop smoking.
After the occurrence of our one day event, we will continue in being a part of
their progress in school. We will gather data, observations and comments from
their teachers regarding the improvement of students in their selves from smoking.
