3. GLOBAL POPULATION
In demographics, world population is the total
number of people currently living on Earth, and is
estimated to be 7.9 billion people as of March 5,
2018. Prehistoric humans and human history lost
more than 5 million years to reach a population of 1
billion and just 200 more years to grow to 7 billion.

5. The table in the slide shows the population data for 10 countries, here
are the figures for 2000, 2020 and projected numbers for 2050.
(1) The Top 10 Most Populated Countries of the World Table was updated on March 31, 2021.
(2) Detailed data for the individual countries may be found clicking on each country name. (3)
Demographic (population) estimates for years 2000, 2021 and 2050 are based mainly on mid-
year data from the US Census Bureau website and also from the United Nations Population
Department. (4) The China population data is for the mainland only. (5) Data from the Internet
World Stats website may be cited, always giving the due credit and establishing an active link
back to the website Internet World Stats.

7. • The countries with the highest population in the world are China and
India. China's population is more than 1.4 billion people and is closely
followed by India with nearly 1.4 billion people.
• The population of these two countries is far ahead of the population of
the third most populous country in the world, the United States, with
just over 300 million people. In the 10 most populous countries, we can
see the appearance of 4 countries with the largest area in the world,
China, India, Russia and the US, but the population data in these
countries shows that there is a big difference in population density.
8. • To illustrate better the ranking order of the population of countries, let's
follow the next slide. Russia is the largest country in the world by area,
but the population is only 9th among the countries with the highest
population in the world.
• Specifically , The two countries with the highest population are China
and India, which are ranked 3rd and 7th respectively in terms of area.
Therefore, the population density of these two countries is among the
highest in the world.
10. • According to this graph, from 1800 to 1940,
the global population was less than 2000
million with a slight increase. But after 1940,
this population reached to more than 7000
million in 2021. This rapid growth of
population would continue till 2050 when the
population would hit the peak of above 8000
million. But, population will fall to around
6000 million in 2100.
12. The bar chart shows us distribution of population, I
would like to concentrate that people lived in the
developed regions as you can see in green bars, was
around 1.200 million all of time.
On the contrary, the population of the developing
countries, as you can see in blue bars, has increased
from 2015 to 2040 and this number would reach to
about 4000 million in 2040.
13. CONCLUSION:
The world population growth will
keep on increasing till 2050.
The increase on developing
regions would be more than on
the developed regions.

15. QUESTION ?
• Did you know that the world population is estimated
to have reached 7.8 bilion people and the world
population is expected to reach 9.7 billion by 2050.?
16. QUESTION ?
• What does that have to do with our topic today, which, as you
know, are the problems and solutions of overpopulation?
17. SUMMARRY
• I am going to show what governments can do to solve
these problems.
• I would like to talk what individuals should do try to address
these problems.
