 Tillie was born at Skane, Sweden on April
23,1875
 In 1891 they came to America [Family]
 Her father died when she was 8 years old
 She work on a farm during haying and
harvesting to help her mother brother and
her 3 sisters
 She didn't have any education but she was a
worker for other people and for her family
and she worked a lot when she was a
teenager
 When she came to America she was a
seamstress-here she saw her first bicycle
 Her mother warned her about bicycle face- a
medical condition of both women and men
bikers
 She won the best female champion of the
world
 She made girls try and go on to bikes
 Her 1st race was a century race, 100 miles,
she broke the women's world record by 18
minutes
 She was the first serious competitor in bike
racing. From 1897 to 1902 she was known as
the female champion of the world
 She inspired girls to ride bikes
 She died in 1965. She was 90 years old
