Thunder and lightning is a natural phenomenon that occurs during rainy seasons. It begins with a buildup of negative and positive charges within storm clouds, which results in a blinding flash of light called lightning. Shortly after, the sky lights up from lightning, a loud boom of thunder is heard as the shock wave reaches the ground. Thunder and lightning can occur between clouds, within a single cloud, between clouds and the air, or from clouds to the ground, and sometimes results in fires, loss of life, or damage to electronics.
