Next, select the right medium (oral, written, or electronic) to deliver your message. With those three factors in place, you're ready to organize the
information by defining your main idea, limiting your scope, selecting an approach, and outlining your content. Planning messages is the focus of this
chapter. Writing business messages. Once you've planned your message, adapt to your audience with sensitivity, relationship skills, and style. Then
you're ready to compose your message by choosing strong words, creating effective sentences, and developing coherent paragraphs. Writing business
messages is discussed in Chapter 4. Completing business messages. After writing your first draft, revise your message to make sure it is clear, concise,
and correct. Next produce your message, giving it an attractive, professional appearance. Proofread the final product for typos, spelling errors, and other
mechanical problems. Finally, distribute your message using the best combination of personal and technological tools. Completing business messages
is discussed in Chapter 5.
The three–step writing process consists of planning, writing, and completing your messages.
Throughout this book, you'll see the three steps in this process applied to a wide variety of business messages: basic tasks for short messages
(Chapters 6 through 9), additional tasks for longer messages (Chapter 10 and 11), special tasks for oral presentations (Chapter 12), and

Rection In Writing : A Reflection On Improvement
A Reflection on Improvement Before entering into this class, I thought that I had an adequate skill in writing essays. However, as I started writing
papers for this class I began to notice that my ability to write an essay needed a great deal of improvement. At the beginning of the class I was not
even able to distinguish the difference between editing and revising, however, I soon learned the difference. Throughout my learning experience this
semester I have been able to gain valuable knowledge on how to revise my essays and this newfound knowledge helped me learn how to use revision
techniques to improve my essays. The rough draft of the first essay that I wrote for this class was graded and returned to me with many errors marked.
This rough draft was covering the topic of the conflicts of archaeology, and when I look back at my process of writing it I can see how the many errors
that were located in the essay came to be. I viewed my mistakes but I did not believe that they needed as much fixing as they did. I only changed the
biggest error that I had made in my rough draft for my final draft. As shown in my rough draft the main change that I made was that I changed one
paragraph that talked about archaeology in Scandinavia to fit in with my other paragraphs which talked about archaeology in America ("The Conflicts
of Archaeology"). By making this change my grade improved, but I still had mistakes in my final draft that should not have been there.
In the first essay that

My Writing Essay
My Writing
In the past four years, I have written many papers for various classes, enjoying some and others having to choke out words to write down. In this
memo I will describe my writing projects and how they made me become a better writer, and how they will continue to help develop me into a
becoming a more prosperous writer.
What I Really Learned in English 100
Well as a recent pupil of the Great McFadden I want to do all that I can to be on his good side, for he said that if I go one mile to meet him, he will go
two miles to meet me, which seems more that fair. As an assignment I am told that I have to write what I learned in English 100 and how that it
prepared me for English 200. Well sincehonesty is the best way of...show more content...
Having taken many writing classes I have learned many things about writing. I enjoy writing and can often write many pages about things that I am
interested in. I know that I have more learning to do about writing, and hopefully in the next couple weeks my knowledge of writing will have
expanded and my writing will have improved.
My Experience With Writing Arguments
I am unaware of any writing arguments. The only thing I can really think of is writing a research paper with the intent to change people's minds on a
certain subject. I remember researching for weeks in the library, looking through magazine after magazine. I had searched for enough information to
write a ten–page paper. The writing process of the paper took several weeks but when I had finished, all the hard work was worth the effort. I learned
many things from that course such as that you need to search for all the information you can because it is better to have too much information than not
enough. Also that course taught me many things about making references to the authors of the articles I used for my paper. I remember writing out
note card after note card and keeping all the necessary information about each book or magazine. That course taught me to become a better writer and
to respect how much detail really goes into a research paper like I had written. Other than that, I have not really had much experience in

8 Steps In How To Write A Research Paper
Here are 8 steps in how to research a research paper. These 8 steps are easy to follow and will increase your accuracy in researching your paper. These
steps are a helping tool for any college or high school student with a long or short paper. Like any other writing project, research writing is a process
involving a number of steps. Although you may be overwhelmed at first by the large scope of a research paper, if you break the task into smaller
tasks, you'll find yourself able to complete even the largest assign–ment.
First, start by understanding your paper; make sure you know what requirements your instructor is assigning. This is a key step in being able to outline
your plan of attack.
Second, focus on your topic. Narrowing your...show more content...
Establishing the proper documentation style from the beginning can save you time from having to reformat your citations, and it will help you to be
thorough and organized in gathering the necessary information.
Fifth, decide on a research strategy you are going to use, or in what way you are going to gather your information. The college or university library
holds a tremendous variety of resources, and you should plan a broad enough search strategy to accommodate for all the possible information and
ideas. You need to make a plan for searching books, periodicals, government documents, and other appropriate resources. A library tour or a talk with
one of the librarians or staff can be especially helpful at this stage. Many researchers be–gin in the reference section, reading encyclopedias,
disciplinary guides, specialized dictionaries, and other reference works to develop an overview of the topic. Your instructor can help you find the
most important information for your topic and a librarian can help you learn how to use them. Many of these research tools are now available in
computerized versions and can point you in the direction of a great deal of very specific information.
Sixth, ranking your resources or gathered information. As you locate books and articles, you need to assess their usefulness for your project. The ones
that seem valuable to you need

The art of writing is a complex and difficult process. Proper writing requires careful planning, revision, and proofreading. Throughout the past semester,
the quality of my writing has evolved significantly. At first, I struggled with the separation of different types of paragraphs, and I found writing them
laborious. Constant practice, however, has eliminated many of my original difficulties, and helped to inspire confidence in my skills. As a collegiate
writer, my strength lies in my clear understanding of the fundamentals of writing, while my primary weakness is proofreading my own work. During
the transition from a high school writer to a collegiate writer, my strength at understanding the basic principles of...show more content...
Finding an introductory paragraph that hooks the reader can be troublesome, but throughout the course, I have spent considerable time developing
that technique. The body of my arguments each exhibit strong support for the thesis. In addition, my conclusions summarize the papers without
restating unnecessary information. Overall, my comprehension of the basic format of an argument has proved to be a valuable asset. The weakest
portion of my writing is my lack of good proofreading. All papers require a significant amount of proofreading not only for grammatical errors, but
also for structural problems. Proofreading my own work is difficult. Many times, I wrongly assume that the reader is able to understand my
thoughts, while the various points of my argument are actually not expressed clearly. In some instances, I fail to catch obvious errors, such as
sentence fragments or contractions, which I should be able to eliminate easily from my writing. Proofreading my own work has consistently been the
most difficult part of my writing process, and I continue to struggle with catching all of the errors in my papers. Analyzing my strengths and
weaknesses as a writer is extremely important. Despite the fact that I understand the structure of a good argument, I still miss obvious errors in my
papers because I lack the skills necessary to properly proofread my own work. In the future, I plan on spending a large portion of my time

The Writing Process After examining "Shitty First Drafts", by Anne Lamott, and "Write before Writing", by Donald M. Murray, each writing process
has some good prospects. Anne Lamott is a little crazy, but passionate writer that can really surprize you. In Anne Lamott 's article "Shitty First
Drafts", she believes that any writer should write a shitty first draft, and that's how anyone ends up with a better second draft and a "terrific third
draft" .Lamott declares in order to be good, the writer needs to first allow for the words and ideas to come flowing out without restriction. Donald M.

Students don't always know what they are going to write about right away while writing an article or essay, some people just need to give it time.
Donald M. Murray claims in his article in "Write Before Writing", students should be told of the importance of prewriting. To do so students have to

A Six-Step Writing Process
As high school students you write almost every day whether that is in the form of an essay, research paper or a tweet on the Internet. What if I told
you there was a simpler way to write that allows information to be organized as well as presented better? The writing process consists of six main
steps. These six steps consist of pre–writing, drafting, revising, editing, proofreading and publishing. Some of these steps are more prominent in the
process, but as a whole these steps assist in the creating of a clear and well–written paper. To help demonstrate the writing process in simpler way I will
relate it to something that is well known to most teenagers, that being food. Not just food but also the process of preparing food in specific the process
of creating a stir–fry. In the writing process the first step consists of a pre–writing stage. Pre–writing can be explained in the form of an outline or notes
about the writing assignment you will begin shortly. In congruence with the pre writing stage, creating a stir–fry uses similar procedures. So to start off
the stir–fry process you must first gather your ingredients. These ingredients can consist of a variety of meats to provide protein including chicken,
shrimp and beef. This step is just like in a paper when you gather the info for the bulk of your paper, such as choosing the topic of the paper. By
doing this first step in the writing process as well as the cooking process you prepare yourself a guideline for the

Procurement Process
Procurement management is the processes to purchase or acquire the products, services or results needed from outside the project team to perform the
work. Project Procurement Management involves not just purchasing products, services or results, but also ensuring that those that are purchased are
right for the project, meets standards and is based on project requirements. This life cycle includes tracking from order through deployment and
completing with invoice reconciliation.
All projects are defined by the purpose, objectives and deliverables. Properly defining these, as well as the other aspects of the project management plan

Once the Procurement Plan is defined and agreed upon, any changes to the Scope require formal change management as described in the Integration
Process.
The most valuable output of the Plan Procurement Process is the Procurement Management Plan. As is the case with almost every aspect of the project
management process, it is essential and imperative that the project management team implement an effective and concise plan when it comes to the
various components of procurement throughout the project's life cycle. Specifically speaking, the procurement management plan refers to the plan that
has been put into place that is meant to dictate and describe the entirety of the procurement process and how it is means to relate to and with the
developing procurement documentation, and how contract closure will relate to all. The procurement management plan should be implemented and
developed as early in the project life cycle as possible to assure that the procurement process is consistent throughout, however, in some cases the plan
may be altered once the project begins, particularly if budgetary reasons dictate.
A Fixed Price contract provides for a price which normally is not subject to any adjustment unless certain provisions are included in the agreement, such
as contract change, economic pricing, or defective pricing. These contracts are negotiated usually where reasonably definite specifications are available,
and costs can be estimated with reasonable accuracy. A

Strengths And Weaknesses Of Writing
Every writer has their own approach to the writing process. Some people may be extremely good at writing while others struggle. I know I was
always one of those people who struggle with writing. In high school, I would always have to get help from a tutor or one of my teachers. It was
always hard for me to stay focused enough to know what I needed to write about and what order everything needed to be in. it wasn't until my senior
year of high school when I finally had an English teacher who actually tried to help me with my writings. My teacher would work with me just a
couple extra minutes before and after class making sure I knew what I would have to fix before I turn in my paper. He tried to help me with grammar
and punctuation, but I...show more content...
I did horrible on all of them. The last quiz I did the best on because I had just started to get a hang of what was going on. One of my strengths
before entering the class was I have a very creative imagination. I could free write and make u stories for hours on end. Most of the people who read
my stories enjoy them. The reason I am creative is due to the fact that when I was younger I would read non–stop for hours. I loved to imagine myself
in all the different settings of any book I had on hand. For me, reading was a way to escape the real world and all the negativity in my life. Besides
creativity though I really had no other strengths when it came to writing.
For every paper I wrote for English 101 I had a different approach. The first paper for the class was a narrative essay. I started the paper at the rough
draft step and halfway through I realized it was not the topic I had wanted to write about. After starting over and starting at the prewriting step
everything seemed to work out a lot easier. I was able to outline how I wanted my paper and everything turned out fine. For the revising and editing of
any paper, I write I always ask a friend or one of my teachers from high school. The second paper for the class was a descriptive essay. Out of the four
paper, we had to write for the class the descriptive essay was the easiest for me. With the descriptive paper, I followed the stages of

Reflective Essay: The Writing Process
"There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you." – – – Maya Angelou, I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings Throughout the semester
I have had to write a number of essays using a variety of techniques. Before college, I would write assuming that the only reader, or audience, would
be my teacher. Composition helped me realize the many steps that are involved in the writing process from free writing to making a final copy. In
order to create a good paper you need organize your ideas. Also, I realize what needs to be in a essay and what doesn't. I have improved in my writing

I think it was a fun assignment to do because we got to advertise a product and give the details that we used. Using persuasive techniques has made
a changed in my writing because you can say something you said before and transfer it to your writing. One of the techniques I am going to use
through out college is talking to different types of audiences. Also, I am going to let others try to help me out with my writing so I can become a
better writer. Sure enough, I still need the help from others for me to be able to succeed in English 1302. All the assignments we did were helpful
for me to succeed in other courses because I have improved in my writing since we used different kinds of techniques. If we had more time I
would like more of the assignments of using different audiences because that's one of my weakness. If I had to retake this course with you again, I
would like more of the rhetoric because that exercise was my favorite. This skills are not only going make me succeed in college but also for life.
This course has shown me that I am capable of writing in a variety of manners and it has shown me that I am not as strong in some areas as I am in
others. This class introduced me to a variety of writing techniques, some worked and some did not. However, the experience and work with each skill

The Six Steps of Writing an Academic Essay
There are six steps to writing an academic essay. If you follow each of these steps correctly, you will find that you can write university essays that will
earn you a distinction (or high distinction) every time. It is simply a matter of understanding what steps to follow, and then completing each of them
thoroughly.
This article provides an outline and brief description of each of these steps. It is an introduction to a series of articles that will examine each step in
more depth. Reading just this article alone will provide you with assistance in learning how to plan, research and write your essays. However, reading
all the articles in the series will allow you to gain a more sophisticated insight into essay writing, and to improve...show more content...
The first place you should go is the library, even if this means ordering in books from other libraries. For academics to have their books (and journal
articles) published, they must go through a process called peer–reviewing. During this process, one or more other academics who are experts in the
field will read and assess a book or article to decide if it is of publishable standard. This is why your research will be of the highest quality if you use
books, monographs, textbooks and journal articles written by academics for your research, because the work had to meet academic standards. There is
no such process for publishing on the internet; anyone can write whatever they like on any subject.
Your second stop after books, monographs and textbooks will be journal articles. Some of these will only be available in hardcopy from the library,
but many will be available in their full–text versions through online electronic databases, such as JStore, ProQuest and Ingenta.
4. Finalise the Essay Plan
In Step 2, you would have drafted a rough essay plan before you began your research. During the research process (in Step 3), you would have
developed this plan further as you learned more information on your topic. Once you have completed your research, and before you begin writing your

How My Writing Has Improved
After this semester of English 102, at Bristol Community College I feel that I have gained the skill to articulate what I want to convey to the
reader in many ways. I don't just look at grammatical error, but instead I look for ways to make my sentences more effective and concise.
Nevertheless, I hope that this strategy will continue to help me improve my writing even further on in the future. My strong points as a reader
have also definitely improved after reading the poems and stories we experienced this semester. Writing has been an important form of expression
for me. I find myself to be very soft spoken and speaking verbally is usually difficult for me because I can't always seem to find the right words to
say. I feel that I am more expressive and have more control over what I want to say. While this semester progressed toward its end, I have learned
new writing skills and gradually learned how to engage with audiences. This skill was very useful in meeting my course goals in English 102. I
believe that I have grown at organization and careful stream my thoughts as well. Before I would just begin writing my papers without any plans or
organization, along with no definite idea of where I would be going with the assignments, but throughout this course I've learned that you should base
your paper around your thesis statement. Another skill I took from this class was to value my classmate's responses, from their reactions made me
much more aware that my main ideas

The First And Hardest Part Of Writing An Essay
The first and hardest part of writing an essay is figuring out how to start. A professor may give a topic to be written about, but in some cases that
may not happen. The first step is to pick a topic. The topic will serve as your thesis. You want to pick a topic that you are relatively knowledgeable
about so you are not completely in the dark. By picking a topic that you know even a little about, will take away the anxiety of not knowing where
to start or what to write about. If you chose to challenge yourself and write a paper about something you are novice about, then you want to pick a
topic that is broad enough to find enough information about. For example, if you want to write a paper about cars, do not make cars what your
paper is about, because although it is a broad topic it is also somewhat narrow. Try to broaden your topic buy changing it to, "how cars have changed
our lives." Changing your topic to a more argumentative thesis gives you a pinpoint area to write about and leaves the door open to give you more to
write about. The second step, and what I believe to be the most important step is locating sources to support your thesis. A researchessay without
sources becomes an opinion essay, and that is what you as the writer want to stay away from. Sources make your essay more creditable. If your essay
is about "how technology has benefited students and teachers in the classrooms," then you should find sources that are about how technology is used in

Descriptive Essay About A Mall
A mall is a place where women love to go to do retail therapy. A mall can also be a place with many personalities. Bright lights, vibrant signs, and an
array of people fill the grand foyer of a mall and bold signs and neon lights animate each store. There is over a thousand shops to browse from,
signs are as big as a giant and people from all occupations and professions are running errands or browsing every retailer. A mall includes many
civilians, Black, Asian, European, and African ethnicities all surround the mall. People of all ages and backgrounds are here for the same
purpose, which is to deploy, to attract, and to bring in more shoppers to these stores. The Galleria of Chaos is Teenagers are the main attraction in
a mall, many bystanders stop and stare at the boys and girls dressed in ripped jeans, bomber jackets, and Timberland boots. Walking into Forever

racks filled to the brim with overpriced and cheaply made clothing. In spite of that teenage girls still flock to this store. Most girls head towards the
sale section first. The sale section is a big disaster, clothes do not have a price tag, there's clothes laying on the floor, and everything stuffed in this
tiny corner of this store. The employees have tucked away in the break room, leaving only one register open out of all six registers, creating chaos.

When most people hear the term "writing", they don't really associate this with a single course that they have taken in high school or college. Rather,
most people view "writing" as a process that evolves as we become capable of thinking in more abstract manners. The effectiveness of our writing is
determined by our ability to think abstractly as well as how confident we are in our composition abilities. If we are lacking either of these two
qualities, then the quality of our writing will suffer. I feel as if my writing has greatly improved after taking English 103. Over the course of this
semester, my confidence in writing has improved greatly. In high school, I didn't really know how to write effectively. I wasn't really sure what was
considered to be "good writing" until I took AP* English. However, even while I was taking this "Advanced Placement" class, I was still trying to
figure out how to really create "good writing". I feel as if this had something to do with the fact that I never really had to work with the rules of
grammar intensively. After taking this course, however, I now have a muchbetter understanding of how to correctly use proper grammar. I also
improved on using transitional phrases in my writing. I have implemented my understanding of proper grammar and transitional phrases in both my
writing inside and outside of this class as a result. In looking back on the three essays that I wrote this semester, I did notice several changes and

Challenges That I Face As Writer Essay
As a writer there are many elements of writing that I struggle with, especially when composing an essay. When writing an essay, there are usually
many skills that need to be used in order to be successful with the writing assignment. Many times in writing I struggle with explaining and fully
developing the supporting details and ideas in my essay. I would also like to improve on incorporating clear topic sentences and concluding sentences,
connecting my paragraphs ideas back to my thesis. Lastly, improvement can be made in my writing by avoiding awkward or wordy sentences. Writers

I am looking to improve on this challenge as a writer by focusing on explaining my quotes and explanations in a more supportive way that relates
back to the thesis. Writing can be improved upon endlessly by minimizing your challenges as a writer. In writing an essay I also struggle with
incorporating clear topic sentences and connecting my paragraphs ideas back to my thesis statement. This struggle is based on last years'
experience with writing essays. This struggle can be improved upon by concentrating on what exactly my thesis is stating and building my
sentences to relate and explain the thesis further. Improving on this will allow my writing ability to increase and help me become a more
successful writer. When composing an essay, or journal entry, or just plain writing, I struggle as a writer with avoiding awkward or wordy phases in
my written work. This struggle is yet again based on last year's experience and feedback from my English class. Improvement with this struggle can
be made by the following strategies: reading over my paper more carefully, avoiding the use of words that sound intelligent but don't flow with the
paper, and editing my paper with peers. Recognizing this struggle and following these strategies would improve my writing. Writers develop strategies
that help them to overcome or improve upon their struggles and challenges in their writing. As a

Donald Murray The Revising Process Of Writing
According to Donald M. Murray, revising a work of writing is an essential procedure a writer goes through. As many other professional writers have
mentioned, "Writing is rewriting," they see each draft as an opportunity to rebuild their work since there's never a feeling of satisfaction. In his essay,
Murray incorporates the experiences of authors Peter F. Drucker, Ray Bradbury, John Ciardi, Eleanor Estes, and others to make an argument on how
important the revising and editing process are when writing for an audience. Murray divides his essay into three main sections which are becoming the
enemy of our first draft, using the seven elements of writing such as the audience and information, and lastly finding the potential and alternatives of

The Writing Process Essay
The Writing Process
Writing a paper on the writing process is pretty hard. The writing process is different from one person to another. You come across questions like,
'What exactly is the writing process?'; and 'Must you follow one persons writing process if yours is different?'; This is where I came across the
answer to my questions, write however you wish to write. If one person likes free write first and another person likes to write a draft first, let them do
how they please.
The writing process is something that you figure out yourself as you go through school. I personally think that is why they make us take English for so
many years. Through the years, I found that some teachers forced you to write certain ways. I believe that...show more content...
I don't agree with him. The only way for someone to improve his or her writing is if a peer reads over it and explains what could be done to improve it.
In The Maker's Eye: Revising Your Own Manuscript, Murray says, 'Writers must learn to be their own worst enemy'; (Murray 87). He is trying to
say that when it comes to editing, you must be able to accept criticism from others and be suspicious of it. Just because they say that you should
rearrange that paragraph doesn't necessarily mean you have to. The way you wrote the paragraph could be in your own voice.
Your papers should be filled with your voice. Voice is what makes your writing personal. But your voice could be different depending on what you
write about. I would put a lot more of my feelings in a paper about food, than a paper about how the polar ice caps are melting.
Revising and rewriting a paper is a common step in the writing process. Personally, I think your paper would be crap if you skipped these steps but
I'm sure someone has done it before. Every writer has revised and rewritten a paper. Do you think that Shakespeare wrote Romeo and Juliet in one
shot? I don't think so.
In conclusion, writing is up to the writer. If the writer decides to follow the formal writing process, then that's their choice. Nothing should be forced
when it comes to writing. Then the writer does not put out their best work possible. Thank you for reading my

How My Writing Has Changed Essay
My writing styles have changed drastically over the past four years of high school. This memo will explain how my writing has changed and how my
knowledge of writing has improved.
Aspects of My Writing during High School
During my English courses throughout high school, I learned many things from writing simple journals, research papers, and a single term paper.
During high school, I was laid back and procrastinated for much of my work. During the latter part of high school when I wrote my term paper my
senior year, I found out that working a little every night writing a few paragraphs helped me out greatly. I was not just throwing something together just
to get the grade and the paper finished. I spent time on the paper and...show more content...
I do this so the information is true, and also in order from which events have occurred. When I wrote my term paper my senior year I was well
organized. I was required to write about an event in history. I chose India Uprising of 1877 as the topic of my paper. This topic was not interesting at
all, but I chose to write about it. When I finished writing my thesis and outline, I wrote note cards about the different topics, which allowed me to
gather all my information and organize it in which different events occurred. When I was finished with the paper, it sounded and read consistently and
it all flowed together.
How These Experiences Prepared Me for College Writing
I have written many different types of papers for all of my classes throughout high school. For my science classes, I have written several labs in the
form of essays. Writing the essays was different for me because I did not really know that science had much to do with writing. It took me a while to
gather all the information I needed to finish my lab assignments. Writing lab reports will definitely help me in my science courses in the next four years.
The journals I have written came from my four years of high school English. Everyday I came to class there would be a topic on the board. I took five
minutes each day to write about the given topic. It was brainstorming and giving our input on whatever the topic was. I think

Three Step Writing Process

  • 1. Three Step Writing Process The Three–Step Writing Process Learning Objectives After studying this chapter, you will be able to "People have just gone ahead and experimented. There are some very interesting models emerging." –Ben Edwards Manager of Investor Communications, IBM www.ibm.com 1 Describe the three–step writing process 2 List four questions that can help you test the purpose of your message 3 Describe the importance of analyzing your audience and identify the six factors you should consider when developing an audience profile 4 Discuss gathering information for simple messages and identify three attributes of quality information 5 List factors to consider when choosing the most appropriate medium for your message 6 Explain why good organization is...show more content... Next, select the right medium (oral, written, or electronic) to deliver your message. With those three factors in place, you're ready to organize the information by defining your main idea, limiting your scope, selecting an approach, and outlining your content. Planning messages is the focus of this chapter. Writing business messages. Once you've planned your message, adapt to your audience with sensitivity, relationship skills, and style. Then you're ready to compose your message by choosing strong words, creating effective sentences, and developing coherent paragraphs. Writing business messages is discussed in Chapter 4. Completing business messages. After writing your first draft, revise your message to make sure it is clear, concise, and correct. Next produce your message, giving it an attractive, professional appearance. Proofread the final product for typos, spelling errors, and other mechanical problems. Finally, distribute your message using the best combination of personal and technological tools. Completing business messages is discussed in Chapter 5. The three–step writing process consists of planning, writing, and completing your messages. Throughout this book, you'll see the three steps in this process applied to a wide variety of business messages: basic tasks for short messages (Chapters 6 through 9), additional tasks for longer messages (Chapter 10 and 11), special tasks for oral presentations (Chapter 12), and

  • 3. Rection In Writing : A Reflection On Improvement A Reflection on Improvement Before entering into this class, I thought that I had an adequate skill in writing essays. However, as I started writing papers for this class I began to notice that my ability to write an essay needed a great deal of improvement. At the beginning of the class I was not even able to distinguish the difference between editing and revising, however, I soon learned the difference. Throughout my learning experience this semester I have been able to gain valuable knowledge on how to revise my essays and this newfound knowledge helped me learn how to use revision techniques to improve my essays. The rough draft of the first essay that I wrote for this class was graded and returned to me with many errors marked. This rough draft was covering the topic of the conflicts of archaeology, and when I look back at my process of writing it I can see how the many errors that were located in the essay came to be. I viewed my mistakes but I did not believe that they needed as much fixing as they did. I only changed the biggest error that I had made in my rough draft for my final draft. As shown in my rough draft the main change that I made was that I changed one paragraph that talked about archaeology in Scandinavia to fit in with my other paragraphs which talked about archaeology in America ("The Conflicts of Archaeology"). By making this change my grade improved, but I still had mistakes in my final draft that should not have been there. In the first essay that Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. My Writing Essay My Writing In the past four years, I have written many papers for various classes, enjoying some and others having to choke out words to write down. In this memo I will describe my writing projects and how they made me become a better writer, and how they will continue to help develop me into a becoming a more prosperous writer. What I Really Learned in English 100 Well as a recent pupil of the Great McFadden I want to do all that I can to be on his good side, for he said that if I go one mile to meet him, he will go two miles to meet me, which seems more that fair. As an assignment I am told that I have to write what I learned in English 100 and how that it prepared me for English 200. Well sincehonesty is the best way of...show more content... Having taken many writing classes I have learned many things about writing. I enjoy writing and can often write many pages about things that I am interested in. I know that I have more learning to do about writing, and hopefully in the next couple weeks my knowledge of writing will have expanded and my writing will have improved. My Experience With Writing Arguments I am unaware of any writing arguments. The only thing I can really think of is writing a research paper with the intent to change people's minds on a certain subject. I remember researching for weeks in the library, looking through magazine after magazine. I had searched for enough information to write a ten–page paper. The writing process of the paper took several weeks but when I had finished, all the hard work was worth the effort. I learned many things from that course such as that you need to search for all the information you can because it is better to have too much information than not enough. Also that course taught me many things about making references to the authors of the articles I used for my paper. I remember writing out note card after note card and keeping all the necessary information about each book or magazine. That course taught me to become a better writer and to respect how much detail really goes into a research paper like I had written. Other than that, I have not really had much experience in

  • 6. 8 Steps In How To Write A Research Paper Here are 8 steps in how to research a research paper. These 8 steps are easy to follow and will increase your accuracy in researching your paper. These steps are a helping tool for any college or high school student with a long or short paper. Like any other writing project, research writing is a process involving a number of steps. Although you may be overwhelmed at first by the large scope of a research paper, if you break the task into smaller tasks, you'll find yourself able to complete even the largest assign–ment. First, start by understanding your paper; make sure you know what requirements your instructor is assigning. This is a key step in being able to outline your plan of attack. Second, focus on your topic. Narrowing your...show more content... Establishing the proper documentation style from the beginning can save you time from having to reformat your citations, and it will help you to be thorough and organized in gathering the necessary information. Fifth, decide on a research strategy you are going to use, or in what way you are going to gather your information. The college or university library holds a tremendous variety of resources, and you should plan a broad enough search strategy to accommodate for all the possible information and ideas. You need to make a plan for searching books, periodicals, government documents, and other appropriate resources. A library tour or a talk with one of the librarians or staff can be especially helpful at this stage. Many researchers be–gin in the reference section, reading encyclopedias, disciplinary guides, specialized dictionaries, and other reference works to develop an overview of the topic. Your instructor can help you find the most important information for your topic and a librarian can help you learn how to use them. Many of these research tools are now available in computerized versions and can point you in the direction of a great deal of very specific information. Sixth, ranking your resources or gathered information. As you locate books and articles, you need to assess their usefulness for your project. The ones that seem valuable to you need Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 7. The art of writing is a complex and difficult process. Proper writing requires careful planning, revision, and proofreading. Throughout the past semester, the quality of my writing has evolved significantly. At first, I struggled with the separation of different types of paragraphs, and I found writing them laborious. Constant practice, however, has eliminated many of my original difficulties, and helped to inspire confidence in my skills. As a collegiate writer, my strength lies in my clear understanding of the fundamentals of writing, while my primary weakness is proofreading my own work. During the transition from a high school writer to a collegiate writer, my strength at understanding the basic principles of...show more content... Finding an introductory paragraph that hooks the reader can be troublesome, but throughout the course, I have spent considerable time developing that technique. The body of my arguments each exhibit strong support for the thesis. In addition, my conclusions summarize the papers without restating unnecessary information. Overall, my comprehension of the basic format of an argument has proved to be a valuable asset. The weakest portion of my writing is my lack of good proofreading. All papers require a significant amount of proofreading not only for grammatical errors, but also for structural problems. Proofreading my own work is difficult. Many times, I wrongly assume that the reader is able to understand my thoughts, while the various points of my argument are actually not expressed clearly. In some instances, I fail to catch obvious errors, such as sentence fragments or contractions, which I should be able to eliminate easily from my writing. Proofreading my own work has consistently been the most difficult part of my writing process, and I continue to struggle with catching all of the errors in my papers. Analyzing my strengths and weaknesses as a writer is extremely important. Despite the fact that I understand the structure of a good argument, I still miss obvious errors in my papers because I lack the skills necessary to properly proofread my own work. In the future, I plan on spending a large portion of my time Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 8. The Writing Process After examining "Shitty First Drafts", by Anne Lamott, and "Write before Writing", by Donald M. Murray, each writing process has some good prospects. Anne Lamott is a little crazy, but passionate writer that can really surprize you. In Anne Lamott 's article "Shitty First Drafts", she believes that any writer should write a shitty first draft, and that's how anyone ends up with a better second draft and a "terrific third draft" .Lamott declares in order to be good, the writer needs to first allow for the words and ideas to come flowing out without restriction. Donald M. Murray, an English Professor, that has a differentwriting process, wrote an article " Write before Writing" . He explains, Students who are not...show more content... It's saying you will have time to reread and use the information that pops out to you, and makes sense to keep in your essay, and discover some writing you never knew you had. " I'd start writing without reining myself in....It was almost just typing, just making my fingers move. And the writing would be terrible."(Lamott 2) There is no boundaries in your writing , so Lamott is saying to let all your craziness out on that paper. Students don't always know what they are going to write about right away while writing an article or essay, some people just need to give it time. Donald M. Murray claims in his article in "Write Before Writing", students should be told of the importance of prewriting. To do so students have to understand the write before writing. Murray list 4 strategies in writing, there is Resistance, force, rehearsal for writing, and implications for teaching. "Most writers need time to wait for the ideas to flow into your head for everything to make sense, some people call is procrastination or delay." (Murray 375) Murray talks about the four pressures that move them forward, by increasing information – when the writer decides on a subject understands the subject they are writing about, increasing Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 9. A Six-Step Writing Process As high school students you write almost every day whether that is in the form of an essay, research paper or a tweet on the Internet. What if I told you there was a simpler way to write that allows information to be organized as well as presented better? The writing process consists of six main steps. These six steps consist of pre–writing, drafting, revising, editing, proofreading and publishing. Some of these steps are more prominent in the process, but as a whole these steps assist in the creating of a clear and well–written paper. To help demonstrate the writing process in simpler way I will relate it to something that is well known to most teenagers, that being food. Not just food but also the process of preparing food in specific the process of creating a stir–fry. In the writing process the first step consists of a pre–writing stage. Pre–writing can be explained in the form of an outline or notes about the writing assignment you will begin shortly. In congruence with the pre writing stage, creating a stir–fry uses similar procedures. So to start off the stir–fry process you must first gather your ingredients. These ingredients can consist of a variety of meats to provide protein including chicken, shrimp and beef. This step is just like in a paper when you gather the info for the bulk of your paper, such as choosing the topic of the paper. By doing this first step in the writing process as well as the cooking process you prepare yourself a guideline for the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 10. Procurement Process Essay examples Procurement Process Deanna Thele CPMGT/302 January 30, 2012 Pamela Hill Procurement Process Procurement management is the processes to purchase or acquire the products, services or results needed from outside the project team to perform the work. Project Procurement Management involves not just purchasing products, services or results, but also ensuring that those that are purchased are right for the project, meets standards and is based on project requirements. This life cycle includes tracking from order through deployment and completing with invoice reconciliation. All projects are defined by the purpose, objectives and deliverables. Properly defining these, as well as the other aspects of the project management plan will...show more content... Once the Procurement Plan is defined and agreed upon, any changes to the Scope require formal change management as described in the Integration Process. The most valuable output of the Plan Procurement Process is the Procurement Management Plan. As is the case with almost every aspect of the project management process, it is essential and imperative that the project management team implement an effective and concise plan when it comes to the various components of procurement throughout the project's life cycle. Specifically speaking, the procurement management plan refers to the plan that has been put into place that is meant to dictate and describe the entirety of the procurement process and how it is means to relate to and with the developing procurement documentation, and how contract closure will relate to all. The procurement management plan should be implemented and developed as early in the project life cycle as possible to assure that the procurement process is consistent throughout, however, in some cases the plan may be altered once the project begins, particularly if budgetary reasons dictate. A Fixed Price contract provides for a price which normally is not subject to any adjustment unless certain provisions are included in the agreement, such as contract change, economic pricing, or defective pricing. These contracts are negotiated usually where reasonably definite specifications are available, and costs can be estimated with reasonable accuracy. A

  • 12. Strengths And Weaknesses Of Writing Every writer has their own approach to the writing process. Some people may be extremely good at writing while others struggle. I know I was always one of those people who struggle with writing. In high school, I would always have to get help from a tutor or one of my teachers. It was always hard for me to stay focused enough to know what I needed to write about and what order everything needed to be in. it wasn't until my senior year of high school when I finally had an English teacher who actually tried to help me with my writings. My teacher would work with me just a couple extra minutes before and after class making sure I knew what I would have to fix before I turn in my paper. He tried to help me with grammar and punctuation, but I...show more content... I did horrible on all of them. The last quiz I did the best on because I had just started to get a hang of what was going on. One of my strengths before entering the class was I have a very creative imagination. I could free write and make u stories for hours on end. Most of the people who read my stories enjoy them. The reason I am creative is due to the fact that when I was younger I would read non–stop for hours. I loved to imagine myself in all the different settings of any book I had on hand. For me, reading was a way to escape the real world and all the negativity in my life. Besides creativity though I really had no other strengths when it came to writing. For every paper I wrote for English 101 I had a different approach. The first paper for the class was a narrative essay. I started the paper at the rough draft step and halfway through I realized it was not the topic I had wanted to write about. After starting over and starting at the prewriting step everything seemed to work out a lot easier. I was able to outline how I wanted my paper and everything turned out fine. Also, I am going to let others try to help me out with my writing so I can become a better writer. Sure enough, I still need the help from others for me to be able to succeed in English 1302. All the assignments we did were helpful for me to succeed in other courses because I have improved in my writing since we used different kinds of techniques. The first place you should go is the library, even if this means ordering in books from other libraries. For academics to have their books (and journal articles) published, they must go through a process called peer–reviewing. During this process, one or more other academics who are experts in the field will read and assess a book or article to decide if it is of publishable standard. This is why your research will be of the highest quality if you use books, monographs, textbooks and journal articles written by academics for your research, because the work had to meet academic standards. There is no such process for publishing on the internet; anyone can write whatever they like on any subject. Your second stop after books, monographs and textbooks will be journal articles. Some of these will only be available in hardcopy from the library, but many will be available in their full–text versions through online electronic databases, such as JStore, ProQuest and Ingenta. 4. Finalise the Essay Plan In Step 2, you would have drafted a rough essay plan before you began your research. During the research process (in Step 3), you would have developed this plan further as you learned more information on your topic. • 15. How My Writing Has Improved After this semester of English 102, at Bristol Community College I feel that I have gained the skill to articulate what I want to convey to the reader in many ways. I don't just look at grammatical error, but instead I look for ways to make my sentences more effective and concise. Nevertheless, I hope that this strategy will continue to help me improve my writing even further on in the future. My strong points as a reader have also definitely improved after reading the poems and stories we experienced this semester. Writing has been an important form of expression for me. I find myself to be very soft spoken and speaking verbally is usually difficult for me because I can't always seem to find the right words to say. I feel that I am more expressive and have more control over what I want to say. While this semester progressed toward its end, I have learned new writing skills and gradually learned how to engage with audiences. This skill was very useful in meeting my course goals in English 102. I believe that I have grown at organization and careful stream my thoughts as well. Before I would just begin writing my papers without any plans or organization, along with no definite idea of where I would be going with the assignments, but throughout this course I've learned that you should base your paper around your thesis statement. Another skill I took from this class was to value my classmate's responses, from their reactions made me much more aware that my main ideas Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 16. The First And Hardest Part Of Writing An Essay The first and hardest part of writing an essay is figuring out how to start. A professor may give a topic to be written about, but in some cases that may not happen. The first step is to pick a topic. The topic will serve as your thesis. You want to pick a topic that you are relatively knowledgeable about so you are not completely in the dark. By picking a topic that you know even a little about, will take away the anxiety of not knowing where to start or what to write about. If you chose to challenge yourself and write a paper about something you are novice about, then you want to pick a topic that is broad enough to find enough information about. For example, if you want to write a paper about cars, do not make cars what your paper is about, because although it is a broad topic it is also somewhat narrow. Try to broaden your topic buy changing it to, "how cars have changed our lives." Changing your topic to a more argumentative thesis gives you a pinpoint area to write about and leaves the door open to give you more to write about. The second step, and what I believe to be the most important step is locating sources to support your thesis. A researchessay without sources becomes an opinion essay, and that is what you as the writer want to stay away from. Sources make your essay more creditable. If your essay is about "how technology has benefited students and teachers in the classrooms," then you should find sources that are about how technology is used in Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 17. Descriptive Essay About A Mall A mall is a place where women love to go to do retail therapy. A mall can also be a place with many personalities. Bright lights, vibrant signs, and an array of people fill the grand foyer of a mall and bold signs and neon lights animate each store. There is over a thousand shops to browse from, signs are as big as a giant and people from all occupations and professions are running errands or browsing every retailer. A mall includes many civilians, Black, Asian, European, and African ethnicities all surround the mall. People of all ages and backgrounds are here for the same purpose, which is to deploy, to attract, and to bring in more shoppers to these stores. The Galleria of Chaos is Teenagers are the main attraction in a mall, many bystanders stop and stare at the boys and girls dressed in ripped jeans, bomber jackets, and Timberland boots. Walking into Forever 21 pop music is playing in the background creating an exciting feeling for some and girls are in small groups browsing each rack of clothing. Metal racks filled to the brim with overpriced and cheaply made clothing. In spite of that teenage girls still flock to this store. Most girls head towards the sale section first. The sale section is a big disaster, clothes do not have a price tag, there's clothes laying on the floor, and everything stuffed in this tiny corner of this store. The employees have tucked away in the break room, leaving only one register open out of all six registers, creating chaos. Express is Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 18. When most people hear the term "writing", they don't really associate this with a single course that they have taken in high school or college. Rather, most people view "writing" as a process that evolves as we become capable of thinking in more abstract manners. The effectiveness of our writing is determined by our ability to think abstractly as well as how confident we are in our composition abilities. If we are lacking either of these two qualities, then the quality of our writing will suffer. I feel as if my writing has greatly improved after taking English 103. Over the course of this semester, my confidence in writing has improved greatly. In high school, I didn't really know how to write effectively. I wasn't really sure what was considered to be "good writing" until I took AP* English. However, even while I was taking this "Advanced Placement" class, I was still trying to figure out how to really create "good writing". I feel as if this had something to do with the fact that I never really had to work with the rules of grammar intensively. After taking this course, however, I now have a muchbetter understanding of how to correctly use proper grammar. I also improved on using transitional phrases in my writing. I have implemented my understanding of proper grammar and transitional phrases in both my writing inside and outside of this class as a result. In looking back on the three essays that I wrote this semester, I did notice several changes and improvements in Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Improving on this will allow my writing ability to increase and help me become a more successful writer. This struggle is yet again based on last year's experience and feedback from my English class. Improvement with this struggle can be made by the following strategies: reading over my paper more carefully, avoiding the use of words that sound intelligent but don't flow with the paper, and editing my paper with peers. • 20. Donald Murray The Revising Process Of Writing According to Donald M. Murray, revising a work of writing is an essential procedure a writer goes through. As many other professional writers have mentioned, "Writing is rewriting," they see each draft as an opportunity to rebuild their work since there's never a feeling of satisfaction. In his essay, Murray incorporates the experiences of authors Peter F. Drucker, Ray Bradbury, John Ciardi, Eleanor Estes, and others to make an argument on how important the revising and editing process are when writing for an audience. Murray divides his essay into three main sections which are becoming the enemy of our first draft, using the seven elements of writing such as the audience and information, and lastly finding the potential and alternatives of Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 21. The Writing Process Essay The Writing Process Writing a paper on the writing process is pretty hard. The writing process is different from one person to another. You come across questions like, 'What exactly is the writing process?'; and 'Must you follow one persons writing process if yours is different?'; This is where I came across the answer to my questions, write however you wish to write. If one person likes free write first and another person likes to write a draft first, let them do how they please. The writing process is something that you figure out yourself as you go through school. I personally think that is why they make us take English for so many years. He is trying to say that when it comes to editing, you must be able to accept criticism from others and be suspicious of it. Just because they say that you should rearrange that paragraph doesn't necessarily mean you have to. The way you wrote the paragraph could be in your own voice. Your papers should be filled with your voice. Voice is what makes your writing personal. But your voice could be different depending on what you write about. I would put a lot more of my feelings in a paper about food, than a paper about how the polar ice caps are melting. Revising and rewriting a paper is a common step in the writing process. Personally, I think your paper would be crap if you skipped these steps but I'm sure someone has done it before. Every writer has revised and rewritten a paper. Do you think that Shakespeare wrote Romeo and Juliet in one shot? I don't think so. In conclusion, writing is up to the writer. If the writer decides to follow the formal writing process, then that's their choice. Nothing should be forced when it comes to writing. Then the writer does not put out their best work possible. • 22. How My Writing Has Changed Essay My writing styles have changed drastically over the past four years of high school. This memo will explain how my writing has changed and how my knowledge of writing has improved. Aspects of My Writing during High School During my English courses throughout high school, I learned many things from writing simple journals, research papers, and a single term paper. During high school, I was laid back and procrastinated for much of my work. During the latter part of high school when I wrote my term paper my senior year, I found out that working a little every night writing a few paragraphs helped me out greatly. I was not just throwing something together just to get the grade and the paper finished. I spent time on the paper and...show more content... I do this so the information is true, and also in order from which events have occurred. When I wrote my term paper my senior year I was well organized. I was required to write about an event in history. I chose India Uprising of 1877 as the topic of my paper. This topic was not interesting at all, but I chose to write about it. When I finished writing my thesis and outline, I wrote note cards about the different topics, which allowed me to gather all my information and organize it in which different events occurred. When I was finished with the paper, it sounded and read consistently and it all flowed together. How These Experiences Prepared Me for College Writing I have written many different types of papers for all of my classes throughout high school. For my science classes, I have written several labs in the form of essays. Writing the essays was different for me because I did not really know that science had much to do with writing. It took me a while to gather all the information I needed to finish my lab assignments. Writing lab reports will definitely help me in my science courses in the next four years. The journals I have written came from my four years of high school English. Everyday I came to class there would be a topic on the board. I took five minutes each day to write about the given topic. It was brainstorming and giving our input on whatever the topic was. I think
