Proofreading
Proofreading any document prior to finalizing is essential to the writing process, and involves other
than just simply checking for spelling and grammar errors. Research papers, essays, e–mail, and
memorandums are just a few examples of documents that would require careful proofreading so that
the message is positively communicated. Proofreading can comprehended into three phases: revising
for content, editing, and verifying sources and mechanics.
Consider revising the content by reading your document slowly and carefully. Ensure that the title
and the papers introduction signal the intent of the topic. Examine the documents and its overall
organization. Determine if the assigned writing has addressed all the outlined requirements, is each
paragraph unified and coherent, is there enough details to support the opening introduction or the
topic sentence, and are there any points in the document where the...show more content...
Additionally, the writer can check for spelling and grammar errors that may have been overseen in
the second phase, including punctuations. Writers can determine whether particular words are
properly capitalized and abbreviated. Its imperative writers audit for appropriate formatting, such as,
MLA, APA, ASA, or any other documentation method required. Proper formatting also includes
placement of your name and course, page numbering, appropriate spacing, and cited work.
Proofreading is the most essential aspect of writing, and can determine if the paper or document is
well written, easy to read, and distinctly communicates the message. It's important when a writer is
proofreading their own material. The proofreading process is adequate as writers practice and
develops new strategies to the process. Writers can better identify areas where they can be further
attentive, and acquiring a sound method for finding errors will assist a writer on the development
ideas while drafting a

Fleshing Out Ideas
For me, forming conclusions and fleshing out ideas are my two main weak points. In every
paper I've written, the endings of paragraphs and the final paragraph itself have always taken me
double, if not triple, the amount of time it took me to write up the rest of the essay. In concluding
paragraphs, I can typically find an ending that, while it may not be the best way, pleases me
enough so that I can move on. These endings are still far from perfect however, and half the time
they may leave some of the readers questions and concerns unanswered. The same goes for the
conclusion paragraph. It takes me days after finishing a paper to write a proper conclusion for it
since I either end up restating myself, or type a grand total of one sentence. For example, I was
originally prepared to turn in my satirical essay without the final paragraph. For a few days, I had
convinced myself that if someone were to read the rest of the report, then there would...show more

When working on my papers, I often run into an issue where I will be finished, but only have one
to two pages typed. My body paragraphs would be two to three sentences that summed up my
thoughts in a short and to the point manner. A thesis sentence would start off introducing an idea,
and then in that very same sentence, conclude it with no room for details, explanation, supporting
evidence, or a comparison of the pros and cons. I've been correcting myself as I've been writing, so it
may not be obvious by time I submit my work, but it still remains an issue to me since it slows
down the writing process. Most of the time I correct myself by creating a bullet point list directly
inside the paper, then going back and translating my notes into sentences. Following that, I add in
transitions to help the sentences flow more smoothly. But again, I would much rather force myself
into the habit of being able to write sentences to begin with rather than draw out the process like

My Writing Essay
My Writing
In the past four years, I have written many papers for various classes, enjoying some and others
having to choke out words to write down. In this memo I will describe my writing projects and
how they made me become a better writer, and how they will continue to help develop me into a
becoming a more prosperous writer.
What I Really Learned in English 100
Well as a recent pupil of the Great McFadden I want to do all that I can to be on his good side, for he
said that if I go one mile to meet him, he will go two miles to meet me, which seems more that fair.
As an assignment I am told that I have to write what I learned in English 100 and how that it
prepared me for English 200. Well sincehonesty is the best way of...show more content...
Having taken many writing classes I have learned many things about writing. I enjoy writing and
can often write many pages about things that I am interested in. I know that I have more learning to
do about writing, and hopefully in the next couple weeks my knowledge of writing will have
expanded and my writing will have improved.
My Experience With Writing Arguments
I am unaware of any writing arguments. The only thing I can really think of is writing a research
paper with the intent to change people's minds on a certain subject. I remember researching for
weeks in the library, looking through magazine after magazine. I had searched for enough
information to write a ten–page paper. The writing process of the paper took several weeks but
when I had finished, all the hard work was worth the effort. I learned many things from that course
such as that you need to search for all the information you can because it is better to have too much
information than not enough. Also that course taught me many things about making references to
the authors of the articles I used for my paper. I remember writing out note card after note card and
keeping all the necessary information about each book or magazine. That course taught me to
become a better writer and to respect how much detail really goes into a research paper like I had
written. Other than that, I have not really had much experience in

Grit Essay Examples
Grit is a predictor of academic, professional, and personal success. Grit can be defined as strength
of character or the ability to overcome failure and continue to work toward success. People with
grit are not always the people with the most natural ability, but their work ethic and ability to
overcome obstacles allows them to achieve success. Grit is a very valuable characteristic in almost
any venture, as it gives someone an advantage in overcoming the inevitable obstacles they will face.
However, grit is much easier adopted when an individual has a growth mindset. The first step to
obtaining grit is to correlate both self–control and self–confidence when trying to reach an objective.
By doing this, one can focus on the task at hand...show more content...
I had no experience as a runner nor did I have the form. This did not phase me however. That year
I promised myself to push through all the six mile runs, sore legs, gnarly blisters, and at times,
lack of oxygen. At every meet and speed workout practice I pushed myself further and further. I
set a goal every time I kicked off from the starting line and never let myself get discouraged when
I failed. By my senior year, I was the fourth fastest runner on varsity. That year our varsity team
won the district meet, which qualified us to run in the 2016 state meet in Oregon. The
transformation over the years were evident. My determination to accomplish my goal of
becoming a faster runner was complete. If I had simply just given up that first day of practice, I
wouldn't have ran along side of the fastest runners in Oregon or have met the multitude of people
that are now my closest friends. Having a goal sets one up for a challenge, whether it being
physically or mentally, goals keep us active and thinking in more ways than one. Still, if someone
has self–control, confidence, and a goal, they are still not complete. Growth mindset is the cone to
an ice cream. It is the foundation of what I think a successful person is. Without it one couldn't use
the characteristics mentioned above in more ways than one. Someone with a growth mindset believe
that their most basic abilities can be developed through dedication and hard work, brains and talent
are just the starting point.

English 101
October 19, 2016 Reflection Paper
It's hard to believe that it's already time for Midterms in my English 101 class. The adventure has
been a lot easier than I at first anticipated. In any case, I am happy that I am taking the class and
learning from it. In the beginning it appeared somewhat hard however I was resolved to compel my
way through this class regardless of what difficulties I needed to persevere.
On the first day of my English 101 class I was apprehensive, I had no clue what's in store from the
class. As I discovered what the class would have been similar to, I let myself know I was going to
attempt to get an B or higher toward the end of the semester and put all the exertion I had into each
paper I kept in touch with, I was not going to set this class aside for later and linger like I use to do.

I have an unmistakable view in my head of what I am going to compose and what structures I have
to utilize. Things have ended up less difficult now since I don't need to experience the battle of how
things are done or on the chance that I don't understand how I should do what I am expected to do.
These aptitudes may empower me to enjoy additionally composing and not need to stress over
having a written assignment.
This course has helped me with many chances to figure out how to properly write papers. Prior to
this class, I had little experience with how to build a legitimate paper. It has taken experience, and
getting normal evaluations, to show me how to precisely write. Despite the fact that this course
required different papers to be turned in, I am appreciative to have possessed the capacity to gain
from my oversights and develop as a writer. I have constantly cherished written work, however now
I am ready to improve my writing as the semester

English 1101 Research Papers
In English 1101 we wrote several pieces of writing. Each piece was unique and I learned new
things with everyone. My favorite piece of writing was the research paper because I could choose
the topic and it was a topic I think is very interesting. Even though it was probably the hardest one
to write I thought it was my best piece and I loved my topic of Genetically Engineered Babies. My
least favorite was the memoir because I struggled writing it and I had trouble picking a topic. It
turned out being a really good memoir but I didn't love writing it. My strongest piece is probably
my common app essay because I put everything I was into that paper. My paper was called "I'm So
Much More Than a Test Score". It was really powerful and explained

My Pre-Writing Process Analysis
My usual method for writing an essay made it hard for me to start and actually continue into
writing it. I would first start out and open a word document; Then, I would try and figure out how
I was going to write the entire paper in my head, which made it really difficult sometimes. Starting
the essay was definitely my worst enemy because I didn't know what to start with or how to go
about most papers. My method has changed since this class. I always knew what an outline was but
now I have implemented it into my pre–writing. Before, I write I try to make an outline of all of the
topics that will go into the essay. After, the outline is finished, the biggest lesson I've learned to get
my paper started is to simply start typing. It doesn't matter...show more content...
It was also one of the most fun essays because I got to try to write a poem. I have never really
tried to write a poem but always admired them. It was challenging in the fact because I really
wanted my poem to rhyme. It took me thirty minutes to come up with about ten short lines for a
poem. It was a long time to think about the rhymes I was going to use but it was challenging and
fun for me. The easiest essay I wrote in this class was also very enjoyable. It was my essay about
the golf tournament I went to. I included sensory details into it and hoped to bring people's
attention to my writing through it. I enjoyed the essay a lot because it was a true story on a great
experience I had in a golf tournament. The activities that assisted me in preparing for each essay
were simply an outline. Although, I'm not sure if randomly typing to start an essay would qualify
for an activity, it helped me a lot. The outline was very helpful for me to understand how my essay
was going to be written. I can't remember what activities that were not helpful because I don't
remember using any other ones other than the

Becoming A Better Writer
Before, when an essay is assigned, I usually begin by free writing. Free writing is a technique in
which a person writes continuously without worrying about spelling, grammar, or topic. Once I
have brainstormed, I put it all together and organize them in a clean way. After I have finished my
rough draft, I reread it multiple times, adding, changing, and deleting anything I believe can be
improved. Once I think I have done the best I can, I write my final.
Recently, my teacher has given me advice and helpful points on becoming a better writer. Writing is
not a task that can get better over night; writing is an art. We learn by mimicking the professionals,
and making it into our own interpretation. I have learned that when writing an essay, you

Apa Style Analysis
When you write an essay, you have to use a format. Formats help you have a better looking paper.
Some of these formats are called, APA, MLA, Chicago, Turabian, and AMA. But the ones I will
focus on is APA and MLA. APA and MLA are close and different in a few ways. APA, American
Psychological Association, style is used when you write a psychology, education, and other social
science paper. APA style is a format for academic documents such as journal articles and books.
APA style is most commonly used to site sources within the social sciences. This style is a formal
way of writing an official document. The essay should be typed, double–spaced on standard–sized
paper (8.5"x 11") with 1" margins on all sides. The essay should use a clear font that is readable.
APA recommends using 12 PT and Times New Roman font. The essay also includes a page header
at the top of every page. To create a page header, insert page numbers flush right, then type "title of
your page" in the header flush left using all capital letters. The running head is a shortened version of
your paper's title and cannot exceed 50 characters including spacing and punctuation....show more

You would use this style for regular writing. Writing for an english, theatre, art, etc., is some
examples of when you would use MLA. If you are to write a paper using MLA you would type your
paper on a computer, 8.5 x 11–inch paper. Double–space the text of your paper, and use a legible
font . The font size will be 12. Leave only one space after periods or other punctuation marks. Set
the margins of your document to one inch on all sides. Indent the first line of paragraphs one
half–inch from the left margin. Create a header that numbers all pages consecutively in the upper
right–hand corner, one–half inch from the top and flush with the right

My Experience With Writing Arguments I am unaware of any writing arguments. The only thing I can really think of is writing a research paper with the intent to change people's minds on a certain subject. I remember researching for weeks in the library, looking through magazine after magazine. I had searched for enough information to write a ten–page paper. The writing process of the paper took several weeks but when I had finished, all the hard work was worth the effort. I learned many things from that course such as that you need to search for all the information you can because it is better to have too much information than not enough. Also that course taught me many things about making references to the authors of the articles I used for my paper. I remember writing out note card after note card and keeping all the necessary information about each book or magazine. That course taught me to become a better writer and to respect how much detail really goes into a research paper like I had written. Other than that, I have not really had much experience in Get more content on HelpWriting.net

That year I promised myself to push through all the six mile runs, sore legs, gnarly blisters, and at times, lack of oxygen. At every meet and speed workout practice I pushed myself further and further. I set a goal every time I kicked off from the starting line and never let myself get discouraged when I failed. By my senior year, I was the fourth fastest runner on varsity. That year our varsity team won the district meet, which qualified us to run in the 2016 state meet in Oregon. The transformation over the years were evident. My determination to accomplish my goal of becoming a faster runner was complete. If I had simply just given up that first day of practice, I wouldn't have ran along side of the fastest runners in Oregon or have met the multitude of people that are now my closest friends. Having a goal sets one up for a challenge, whether it being physically or mentally, goals keep us active and thinking in more ways than one. Still, if someone has self–control, confidence, and a goal, they are still not complete. Growth mindset is the cone to an ice cream. It is the foundation of what I think a successful person is. Without it one couldn't use the characteristics mentioned above in more ways than one. Someone with a growth mindset believe that their most basic abilities can be developed through dedication and hard work, brains and talent are just the starting point. • 8. My Pre-Writing Process Analysis My usual method for writing an essay made it hard for me to start and actually continue into writing it. I would first start out and open a word document; Then, I would try and figure out how I was going to write the entire paper in my head, which made it really difficult sometimes. Starting the essay was definitely my worst enemy because I didn't know what to start with or how to go about most papers. My method has changed since this class. I always knew what an outline was but now I have implemented it into my pre–writing. Before, I write I try to make an outline of all of the topics that will go into the essay. It was my essay about the golf tournament I went to. I included sensory details into it and hoped to bring people's attention to my writing through it. I enjoyed the essay a lot because it was a true story on a great experience I had in a golf tournament. The activities that assisted me in preparing for each essay were simply an outline. Although, I'm not sure if randomly typing to start an essay would qualify for an activity, it helped me a lot. The outline was very helpful for me to understand how my essay was going to be written. I can't remember what activities that were not helpful because I don't remember using any other ones other than the Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Free writing is a technique in which a person writes continuously without worrying about spelling, grammar, or topic. Once I have brainstormed, I put it all together and organize them in a clean way. After I have finished my rough draft, I reread it multiple times, adding, changing, and deleting anything I believe can be improved. Once I think I have done the best I can, I write my final.
