Thor, a new student from Iceland, struggles to make friends on his first day but bonds with another student named Mark. They are later confronted by bullies who try to recruit them, but Thor and Mark reject them. Thor learns about human rights, including the right to choose one's own friends. However, Mark later breaks his promise and forms a new friend group without Thor, denying his right to choose. In the end though, Thor regains his right to choose his own friends and makes amends with Mark.

Recent years have seen the emergence of a new ‘politics of parenting’ in which a range of social ills are attributed to incompetent and irresponsible childrearing. In particular, a perceived rise in youth anti-social behaviour and ill discipline in the classroom is commonly associated with poor parenting. Policy trends have centred on making parents (predominantly mothers) more accountable for their wayward offspring.

standing on the fringes of life ... offers a unique perspective. But there comes a time to see what it
looks like from the dance floor.
This haunting novel about the dilemma of passivity vs. passion marks the stunning debut of a
provocative new voice in contemporary fiction: The Perks Of Being A WALLFLOWER
This is the story of what it’s like to grow up in high school. More intimate than a diary, Char-
lie’s letters are singular and unique, hilarious and devastating. We may not know where he lives. We
may not know to whom he is writing. All we know is the world he shares. Caught between trying
to live his life and trying to run from it puts him on a strange course through uncharted territory.
The world of first dates and mixed tapes, family dramas and new friends. The world of sex, drugs,
and The Rocky Horror Picture Show, when all one requires is that perfect song on that perfect
drive to feel infinite.
Through Charlie, Stephen Chbosky has created a deeply affecting coming-of-age story, powerful
novel that will spirit you back to those wild and poignant roller coaster days known as growing up.

Synthetic fibers play a crucial role in modern society, impacting various aspects of daily life, industry, and the environment. ynthetic fibers are integral to modern life, offering a range of benefits from cost-effectiveness and versatility to innovative applications and performance characteristics. While they pose environmental challenges, ongoing research and development aim to create more sustainable and eco-friendly alternatives. Understanding the importance of synthetic fibers helps in appreciating their role in the economy, industry, and daily life, while also emphasizing the need for sustainable practices and innovation.
2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

Thor Thorkelsen
1. Thor Thorkelsen Draft
On the first day of school a new student named Thor arrived. He
was lonely, and then a kid came up to Thor and introduced himself.
“Hi my name is Mark, I live here what’s your name?” Mark
asked
“My name is Thor I come from Iceland and I’m new to the
school.” Thor replied.
“You seem awfully lonely here how about we be friends.” Mark
said.
After a few days people found out about the new kid, when
the two friends were trying to get more friends Fillipo, Jacob and his
friends came up to Thor and Mark and said
“Hey you guys trying to make friends with these losers, Join
us and be the most popular kid in the school!” Fillipo and Jacob
said.
Then the two friends kindly rejected them, but for some
reason they didn’t go away instead they started teasing them about
their friends until the teachers came along and asked them what
was going on. Fillipo, Jacob and their gang took off with out a word.
We explained to the teacher that it was fine. In that evening Thor
found a site on Mr. DJs’ blog that was about human rights, he
looked around on that site and found a movie about being able to
chose your own friends, join, or set up a group of friends as long as
it doesn’t harm other’s feelings.
After that night he went to school and waited for Mark the
first thing that happened in the morning was Fillipo,
Jacob and their gang went up to Thor and asked
“You waiting for your friend Mark?” Fillipo, Jacob and their
gang asked.
“Hey I can chose my friends and you can’t do anything about
it!” Thor replied back.
“So? We can still teas you, loser!” the gang replied.
Just after that argument Mark came through the door and
the two buds went off to class. Then at 9:30 the bell went off and it
was time for morning break,
Mark went to Thor and said “Hey Thor I need to use the
bathroom meet me on the playground.”
“Okay.” Said Thor
When Thor was waiting on the playground, he saw Fillipo on
the field waiting for his friends, but all of a sudden some tenth
graders went to Fillipo and started bullying him, then Mark found
me on the field and then we got our friends together and played
tag.
Later on in class Mr. DJ said, “Now we are going to watch
some movies about child rights.” While we were watching the movie
Mr. DJ came across the right to chose your own friends join or set
2. up a group of friends as long as it doesn’t harm other’s feelings. I
was really focused on it because it was very interesting, because it
was the movie I saw, but I only saw a tiny bit of the movie. After
the movies were over it was time for lunch. At lunch Mark sat with
his other friends and I was at the table eating by myself.
On that evening I was watching all the child right movies.
The next day I said to Mark “If you join Fillipo’s gang it will
hurt” Thor said.
“ If you join Fillipo’s group it will hurt too and if you make a
group I will be mad.” Thor said
“Same here, so you promise that you wouldn’t make a new
group of friends?”
Thor said, “Mark promised that he wouldn’t make a new group
of friends.” But the next day when I was waiting for Mark I saw the
time and it was 7:30.
I said to myself “Mark usually comes at 7:25.” Then I went
down to the playground and on the way down I saw Mark making a
new group of friends, so then I rushed down to see what Mark was
doing.
“What are you doing?” I asked Mark.
But before I could even finish speaking he pulled a piece of
paper and it said to be able to chose your own friends join or set up
a group of friends as long as it doesn’t harm other’s feelings. Then I
said
“Don’t you remember what we promised that we wouldn’t
make a new group of friends.”
Then Mark said, “We never talked about making new friends
and promising.” Just after those words the friends that Mark and I
made walked to Mark and I said
“What are you guys doing I thought we were all friends here,
Then Mark said, “They don’t listen to you any more I said that
you’re a loser.” After that school day I went back to Marks place
and when I got to my room my bag was packed and he left a note
on my bag and it said
“Dear Thor I’m sorry that you have to move out but I booked
a hotel room across the street.”
It was almost Easter and the last day of school was pajama
day and there is a real fun game called Find the Gold Egg, so we
were all looking forward to that and how ever finds the gold egg
gets to have a week of no school. On pajama day we were doing
the find the gold egg and while I was trying to find the egg I made
a friend, when we finally found the egg I said to my friend/partner
Thor said, “Here you have the golden egg you need it.”
But the friend said “You need time to your yourself.”
Finally Mark introduced me to his friends then we were all
friends again. Mark denied my right to chose my own friends but in
3. the end I got my right to chose my own friends and set a group of
friends. But what happen was, I had my rights to choose my own
friends but then Mark denied them, but in the end I got my right to
choose my own friends again.
