Newton And Seurat Research Paper
The world that we live in is constantly innovating new ideas and methods to benefit the lives of
many. It is a fascinating opportunity to reflect on all the inventions that have been made throughout
each of our lifetimes. Two very important individuals that shaped the world we live in today is Sir
Isaac Newton and Georges Pierre Seurat.
Sir Isaac Newton was an English mathematician and physicist. There is a theory that Newton
discovered gravity when he saw a falling apple. Supposedly, when he was observing the apple he
was also thinking about the forces of nature. Newton realized that some force must be acting on
falling objects like apples because otherwise they would not start moving from rest. Newton also
realized that the moon would fly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For instance, when you stand on something soft, the object caves in or is pushed down. This is the
reaction of one s force on the soft object, and the soft object s reaction to one standing on it.Seurat
painted the La Grande Jatte in three distinct stages. In the first stage, which was started in 1884,
Seurat mixed his paints from several individual pigments and was still using dull earth pigments
such as ochre or burnt sienna. In the second stage, during 1885 and 1886, Seurat dispensed with the
earth pigments and also limited the number of individual pigments in his paints. This change in
Seurat s palette was due to his application of the advanced color theories of his time. His intention
was to paint small dots or strokes of pure color that would then mix on the retina of the beholder to
achieve the desired color impression instead of the usual practice of mixing individual
pigments.Seurat s palette consisted of the usual pigments of his time such as cobalt blue, emerald
green and vermilion. Additionally, Seurat used then new pigment zinc yellow (zinc chromate),
predominantly for yellow highlights in the sunlit grass in the middle of the painting but also in
mixtures with orange and blue pigments. In the century and

The Theme Of Social Inequality In Battle Royal By Ralph...
Social inequality is something people would not expect to be influenced by setting. The story
Battle Royal, by Ralph Ellison explains that a young boy grows up to learn the harsh reality of
being an invisible man. The author does this by putting the main character in the story, though
situations that make him realize that he is diminished from society. The meaning of the story is
supported by the setting of where different things take place throughout the story. Places such as
the main ballroom played an important role. The ring of where the battle royal took place
between the classmates can also be looked at to see how the narrator explains his point. Not to also
forget, that the author sets a scene with a young white woman to be able... Show more content on

The events turn south one the protagonist is made to partake in horrific humiliating events to
entertain the white upper classmen. It all began when he was invited into the hotel ballroom
that he would begin being told what to do or what to say or act. The way the room was set up,
put a boxing ring in front of a row of chairs from all three sides. The battle royal expresses the
way in which members of the black community are looked at by whites. They are nothing but a
source of cruel amusement, At worst, they are non existent. The battle royal allows the town
leaders to express their aggression toward the black boys in a way that they believed was safe
(Wallace 2013). Immediately after the main character arrives to the boxing ring is when he faces a
new challenge that he must overcome. This fight between classmates has him worried that he
might not even get a chance to give his speech. The author implies that the setting of the boxing
ring can intimidate anybody if there were in the same position. The author states that I want to get
at that ginger colored nigger. Tear him limb from limb...I stood against the ropes trembling (Ellison
208). This hostile environment allowed the readers to see what position the main character finds
himself in the middle of. This boxing ring allows readers to get a better picture of what the story is
about. The use of an environment where he is forced to do something while blindfolded and beaten

Child Sexual Abuse In Adulthood
Child sexual abuse is a big social problem. We know about sexual abuse, but do we know the
different effects sexual abuse causes? Volunteering at Change Agents Network and being around the
troubled youth can teach someone a lot. Sexual abuse can drastically change someone s life. Just
imagine how it can effect a child s mind mentally and then think about how not addressing the
issues at hand can affect them in adulthood. Through much research and practice it was stated that
childhood sexual abusemakes people vulnerable to both mental and physical ill health (NELSON,

Comparison Of Heart Of Darkness And Apocalypse Now
Heart of Darkness, written by Joseph Conrad in 1899 inspired director, Francis Ford Coppola to
create the film Apocalypse Now, which was released in 1979. The two parallel each other, yet
they each reflect the time periods and prejudices of their creators. Through Conrad s work, the
horrors of the Europeans journey into the Congo is exposed. Alternatively, Coppola s work
exposes the horrors of Vietnam. The film begins and ends with the eerily accurate song, The End,
by The Doors, who were an important voice in Coppola s era. The lyrist was very interested in
cinema and had stated that Film confers a kind of spurious eternity (Jim Morrison). Francis Ford

In Apocalypse Now, the role of this character is portrayed by Colonel Bill Kilgore. Marlow
remarks on the magnificent quality of the Manager s health, stating, His position had come to him
why? Perhaps because he was never ill (Conrad 89). The manager s inability to get sick strips him
of a quality which makes men human. Within the concept of illness, there is the very human
sensation of pain. Colonel Bill Kilgore escapes all pain. Willard states, He knew he wasn t gonna
get so much as a scratch here (Coppola). Emptiness replaces their humanistic feelings of illness or
pain. Without these sensations, they desensitized, so that they are left as merely physical shells. As
a result of these two characters avoiding any physical pain, it is implied that the jungle has the
ability to rob men of the qualities which makes them human. Since they are unable to feel pain and
suffering themselves, they are therefore, unable to sympathize with others pain and suffering. As a
result, their savage tendencies are capable of consuming them because the jungle stripped them of
humanistic qualities of pain and suffering, while also removing their sense of

The Stealth Evolution Of Black Leopards
Up until this point in time, scientists and researchers assumed that black leopards all shared a
sleek black coat. This made it very difficult to tell the individual animals apart. However, thanks to
a new imaging technique that was discovered accidentally, the complex spots on black leopards can
now be seen.
The Unintended Discovery
William Laurance (https://research.jcu.edu.au/portfolio/bill.laurance), a researcher at James Cook
University (http://www.jcu.edu.au/) in Australia, says that they somehow managed to accidentally
have the infrared flash that usually only operates at night go off during the day. This created the
perfect situation that let the spots on the black leopards be seen. Though they still can t be seen
with the human eye, this provides an opportunity to learn more about black leopards by studying
them more in depth.

This is the opposite of albinism and, according to Gopalasamy Clements, a co founder of the

the perfect stalkers. The darker skin hides the spots, and thus allows the animal to hide better in the

The First Homeric Hymn Of Aphrodite
The first Homeric Hymn of Aphrodite tells the story of Aphrodite, the Greek goddess of love,
desire, and beauty. She is the daughter of Zeus and highly regarded among both immortals and
mortal men. The story recounts the power that Aphrodite possesses as well as the limitations of her
power. One limitation this hymn primarily focuses on is a situation in which Aphrodite is
humiliated. This myth utilizes strategies such as story structure and word choice in order to
describe how Aphrodite is humiliated.
The structure of a myth is imperative to understanding the sequence of a story. In this hymn, the
structure begins with discussing Aphrodite s beauty from lines 1 to 29. The remainder of the myth
discuss the situation that embarrasses Aphrodite. Already, the amount of time spent discussing both
perspectives of Aphrodite s narrative indicates that the story of her humiliation outweighs her
power. Additionally, the order in which the narrative is presented affects how each perspective is
received. Aphrodite s power is built up in the beginning of the narrative; she taught earthly men the
fashioning of chariots (7) and received a good share of honor (18) from her father Zeus. All of this is
outweighed when the hymn recounts the humiliation of Aphrodite where Zeus sent sweet desire
(29) that prompts her ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Gruesome allegations swarming against black men in the mid twentieth century has created a
sense of fear concerning blacks from the white community. White people have always had an
idealistic stereotype on how they have viewed the African American race. In the case of the
Scottsboro Boys and the events in Native Son by Richard Wright, it is evident that there are many
things to be cautious of as a young black man in America. Richard Wright s novel Native Son is a

things occurred. Wright touches greatly on the way history repeats itself and it shows the unjust

With the things going on in America during present day it is clear that every event in history
comes around full circle and repeats itself. It caught my attention as a reader of Native Son, when
Bigger kills Mary and he reacts in a way that fear only strikes him because he is a young black man
and she was white. A young black man s biggest fear has always been to be accused of a crime
against a white person because laws were made in favor of the white race. There were many times
where the author of the text Richard Wright distinguished the differences between white crime
and black crime in the judicial system. He was a murderer, a Negro murderer, a black murderer.
He had killed a white woman 3. During this time laws were made solely in favor of white
america and capitalists. Nine years before the publication of Native Son the trial of The
Scottsboro Boys took place which caused great controversy across the United States. Although the
actions of Bigger were different from The Scottsboro Boys, the cases were similar in the way that

Fig 1. Structure of HIV 1. Adopted from eMedWiki.
The HIV life cycle occurs in six stages namely; Fusion, Reverse transcription, Integration,
transcription, assembly, and budding. Inorder for the virus to proceed to each stage and continue
to replicate into new viral cells, it requires catalytic enzymes such as reverse transcriptase (RT),
Intergrase (IG), and protease (PT). These replicating enzymes and cycle phases have been
identified as potential therapeutic drug targets for HIV therapy (Fig 2), therefore leading to the
development of novel anti retroviral drugs as stated below;
Fusion Inhibitors (FIs) and Entry inhibitors (EIs): They prevent entry of the viral capsid into the
host CD4+ T cell, by inhibiting the viral Gp41 and Gp120 from binding and fusing with
chemocokine coreceptors CCR5 or CXCR4 on the surface of the host cell. This further prevents
the release of viral replicating enzymes (reverse transcriptase, Intergrase, and protease) from the
viral capsid into the host cell. (Wilen et al., 2011). Examples are Enfuvirtide (FIs) and Maraviroc
(EIs).
Reverse transcriptase Inhibitors (RTIs): There are 3 different classes of RTI and these include
nucleoside RTIs (NRTIs), Non nucleotide RTIs (NNRTIs), and nucleotide RTIs (NTRTIs). Inorder

how little or how much one might cheat. As noted in the title, Gender, Contingencies of Self Worth,

again. The confederate then left the classroom to use the restroom leaving the participant alone.
This allowed for them to either cheat off the confederates test or the answer key. The experimenter
returned shortly after and collected the test. Then, the participants took a short 4 question
questionnaire with open ended questions about the test. Afterwards the participants were debriefed.
The research conducted in this study was experimental. You can tell because it was in a laboratory
setting where every situation was controlled. They were searching for whether or not the
participants would cheat and manipulated the variables in a way that allowed for participants to
cheat by having the experimenter leave the classroom as well as the confederate.
Results:
After the experiment was conducted and the results analyzed the study found that 57% of the
participants showed cheating on one or more of the 5 questions that could not be solved. When is
comes to differences in gender, men were shown to have cheated more then women. But, within the
number of participants who cheated the number of questions they cheated on did differ among

Performance Appraisal In The Army
Performance appraisal is one of the most intricate and imperative issues that we do in the Army.
So we need current quarterly statement on each soldier. Then on enlisted personnel we need it to

April Morning By Howard Fast Analysis
A redcoat soldier raised his musket, leveled it at Father, and fired (Fast 100). April Morning is
written by Howard Fast and takes place on April 17th, 1775 at the start of the revolutionary war in
Lexington, Massachusetts. Moses Cooper is a major character and also the antagonist to Adam
because he and Adam are always fighting and Moses doesn t let Adam grow up. Although Moses
was hard to understand, he was an affectionate, opinionated and respected man. Moses and affection
do not go hand and hand and its only sometimes when he says he loves Adam. Hate him! My
father exploded. Of all the crazy notions! Of all the idiotic ideas! There a boy, my first born son
why how could any man love a son any more than I love that boy? Now where could he have
gotten an idea as unreasonable as that (Fast 45)? Moses is now realizing how Adam feels about
him and although Moses does not say he loves him outright, Adam hears him and has a new
perspective of his dad. Moses realizes that his words have a bigger impact on Adam than he thinks.

in the normal range and obtains scores within normal limits on traditional language measures, it is
difficult for parents and professionals to document the need for intervention even though the child s
dysfunctional social language skills are evident in conversation and place him or her in jeopardy for
full participation in school and community environments (Kamhi, 1998; Young et al., 2005).
Children and adults with any spectrum of autism have many struggles with pragmatics of language.
Social interactions have proven to be very difficult for someone not understanding how to respond
while having conversation with another peer.
Most children with autism spectrum disorders (ASD) have delays in language development relative
to their nonverbal mental age (Stevens et al., 2000; Tager Flushberg, 1988; Tager Flusberg
Sullivan, 1998) and approximately half of young children with autism fail to acquire speech as their
primary mode of communication (Prizant, 1996).

Colonialism And European Imperialism In The 19th Century
Imperialism is not only a movement prevalent throughout history, but also a means for Europe s
superiority complex to shine. Europe began Imperialism as a way of acquiring more land, money
and power. Then, in the 19th century, the post Enlightenment imperialism shifted to the idea that
Europeans were helping the underdeveloped and barbaric civilizations to become more modernized
and no longer backward. European Imperialismis not only about the takeover of territories for
benefit or charity. It was also about cultural Imperialism. Cultural Imperialism from modernized
countries was called Westernization. Europeans brought over not only guns, germs, and steel, but
also ideas, culture, religion and so much more. Imperialism or the fallout of Imperialism has
shaped the world today not only in the physical sense, but the ideology behind it as well. It has
encouraged racism, sexism, and the idea of nations and their peoples being better than others.
Imperialism from 1850 until the present was a bit different than in previous years. This
imperialism was driven more by cultural desires than economic desires, as in the past. Europeans
believed that by colonizing and forcing cultural practices and religion on a country that was
considered inferior, they were helping them and thereby doing God s will. One idea that came
about in 1859 was Charles Darwin s natural selection. In his work On the Origin of Species, Darwin
outlines natural selection as any variation, however slight and

Impact Of The Great War On The World War I
The Great War
The War to end all Wars
1914 1918
The First World War was one of the most remarkable wars in history. Out of one shot from a
Serbian rebel came one of the bloodiest conflicts in human history, and one of the most
revolutionary. (importance of world war one, 2015) The purpose of this assignment was to find out
the role of Australia in the war and its impact upon the nation. In this assignment, key events and
actions that lead to the outbreak of war and Australia s involvement in the war will be talked about.
A particular element of the First World War is the technology that was used. Weaponry, artillery,
aircrafts and technological advances will also be mentioned.

As the war progressed, further acts of aggression drew other countries into the conflict. (How did
the First World War start?, 2015) Australia became involved in the First World War because they
were part of the British Empire at the time. Once Britain declared war, Australia was automatically
involved in the war, as well as all her other colonies.
Technology in World War 1 World War One had introduced machine guns, modern artillery and
airplanes to the battlefield. Horses were removed from the battlefield, replaced by tanks in 1916.
(World War 1, 2015) A wide variety of weapons were used in this period of time. Before World War
I, there were no machine guns. Instead, hand cranked Gatling guns were used, and riflemen had
to reload after every shot. However, it was in the First World War that the machine gun would
rise to dominate the battlefields. By 1914, gas driven, water cooled machine guns had been
perfected. A two man team could fire hundreds of rounds per minute. (World War 1, 2015) It was
easy to kill opposing army on a larger scale, did not require constant reloading, was accurate and
was easily mountable on many things like ships and planes. Because of the use of machine guns,
trenches were used extensively in World War 1. A trench is a long, narrow

The Founding Brothers Sparknotes
Joseph J. Ellis, the author of The Founding Brothers, identifies and give a better vision of what is
happening in the American Revolution. Ellis states, On the inevitability side, it is true there was
voices back then urging prospective patriots to regard American Independence as an early manifest
destiny (3). The book introduces the revolutionaries: George Washington, Alexander Hamilton,
Thomas Paine, Thomas Jefferson, Aaron Burr, James Madison, and Benjamin Franklin. Ellis
focuses on the characteristics, actions, events, and the ideologies differences that affect the
American Revolution.

The purpose of the dinner table is for the three leaders to discuss how they are to trying to help
rebuild the nation. In February 1790, two Quaker deputations request a House calling for the
federal government to put an end to African slave trade. The Constitutional Convention from New
York is trying to end the slavery, but no actions are to take place until 1808. Furthermore, the
Pennsylvania Abolition Society is signed by Benjamin Franklin, it urged the Congress to take such
measures in their wisdom, as the powers with which they are invested will authorize, for promoting
the abolishing of slavery and discouraging every species of traffic in slavery (83). First, the
deputations suggest that both slavery and slave trade is discordant to the values of American
Revolution. Second, it challenges the claim that the Constitution prohibited action. The general
welfare is a way to avoid it.
In addition, in 1796, George Washington announces a speech, Farewell Address stating that he is
not going to run for reelection, after only serving two terms. Americans have to now defend
themselves. The political parties are now put to use after the election of 1776. It is now up to John
Adams and Thomas Jefferson. They were the odd couple of American Revolution (163).

Gang Report On Gang Groups
According to the 2013 National Gang Report, gangs continue to flourish, progress, and develop
criminal tradecrafts (p. 3). Based on state, local, and federal law enforcement reporting, the
National Gang Intelligence Center (NGIC) calculated that the US gang composition is
approximately 88 percent street gang members, 9.5 percent prison gang members, and 2.5 percent
outlaw motorcycle gang (OMG) members. Street gangs pose the most violent and significant threat
in most communities, while prison gangs are viewed as the least problematic (National Gang

jurisdictions, despite comprising only 2.5 percent of the gang composition (National Gang Report,...

Street gangs are linked to crime in elementary, middle, and high schools, and even on college

weapons offenses (National Gang Report, 2013, p. 4). Gangs continue to commit violent
crimes, including assaults, and robberies, and threats and intimidation more so than white collar
type crimes, such as identity theft and credit card fraud (National Gang Report, 2013, p. 4).
Drug trafficking was identified as the most common criminal activity of gangs (National Gang

Descriptive Essay About Women In Entertainment
Women in Entertainment Essay
I m Paulina Villalobos, I m Hispanic and I love new experiences. Both my parents were born in
Mexico and immigrated here when they were young adults. I have an older sister and a younger
brother, leaving me to be the middle child. I like reading, going out with friends, and spending
time at home watching TV or movies. I started reading at a very young age and haven t put a
book down since. I just love how people can create completely different worlds and share it with
others, who then in turn make those worlds their own. Also, I like how you can lose yourself in a
book and put yourself in different situations that are exciting and new, almost refreshing your mind

My family doesn t have a lot of experience with college so I don t really know all of my options
and how I can get more. My career goals are to be somewhat involved in the entertainment
industry but behind the scenes. I want to have a job in the entertainment industry as a director of
photography or a screenwriter, something that lets me be behind the camera and lets me share
my ideas. I think I can make more of an impact in the entertainment industry being behind the
scenes than I can if I was front and center of the camera. Being a screenwriter would allow me to
create stories that empower women, humanize men, and give children people they can look up to
and change their lives in a positive way. While being a DP wouldn t give me the same control over
those things, it still has an impact on the audience. The audience could see a man crying and the
lighting on him would make him appear powerful rather than weak, and the same could be done for
a woman choosing to leave an unhealthy situation.
Some conflicts that may get in the way of my commitment to this program would be my film
class shooting schedule, and missing school. I don t have a problem missing Thursdays since I can
always ask my teachers the day before what I would be missing and what I can do to make up the
work we ll do in class the next day, so that won t be a big problem. Although, I m curious to see if
my absences will be excused or not, and if

Difference Between Ferdinand De Saussure And Bloomfield
RANI DWI ASTUTI

Ferdinand de Saussure and Leonard Bloomfield
Ferdinand de Saussure and Leonard Bloomfield are both give big contributions towards linguistics.
They both produce theories which are now used in linguistics. They have similarity as they both
studied language as a structure using science basic. They both focus on the structure of the
language. However, they do have several differences as the developed their own theories based on
their thought about language.
Saussure s thought nowadays is defined the option of synchronic linguistics , the study of language
as systems existing at a given point in time. Saussure developed his synchronic linguistics when he

Bloomfield views language more as a diachronic linguistics or historical linguistics focusing in
behaviour. The main points of Bloomfield s theories of language description can already be
found in Boas, though they are often stated more explicitly and with more elaboration by
Bloomfield. What was new in Bloomfield was a philosophically sophisticated emphasis on the
status of linguistics as a science. Bloomfield was not merely passively influenced by logical but
(after a flirtation in his twenties with very different views) became an active, proponent of
positivist ideas as they applied to the study of human behaviour, including language. For
Bloomfield, linguistics was a branch of psychology and specifically of the positivistic brand of the
psychology known as behaviourism . Bloomfield s theorizing about language was heavily
behaviouristic. Behaviourism is a principle of scientific method: a rule which says that the only
things that may be used to confirm or refute a scientific theory are interpersonally observable
phenomena, rather than, say, people s introspections or intuitions . In some ways it was in fact
easier for linguist than for psychologist to accept behaviourist

The Male Gaze Analysis
The Power of the Male Gaze
In patriarchal society, the male gaze serves as a reminder of the shortcomings and inadequacy of
the female sex. The male gaze as seen in Edith Wharton s House of Mirth functions as an objective
measurement of a woman s worth and a catalyst for Lily s downfall. Lily internalizes notions of the
male gaze and attempts to emulate the ideal feminine archetype. However, the fragility of her social
standing is exposed due to the overwhelming influence of the male gaze.
In The Patriarchal Gaze , Nancy Brannon claims that The camera, not just cinematic technology,
can be thought of as a symbol and applied to patriarchal control in society at large. It is in this light
that the camera can be considered an instrument ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As a woman in her society, Lily s choices for marriage are limited as she claims, Ah, there s the
difference a girl must, a man may if he chooses (Wharton). This illustrates the stark contrast
between the standards set in society for men and women. A man may if he chooses, meaning
that if a man chooses not to marry, his reputation does not suffer. If a girl does not marry, the
implication is that she is an unsuitable partner and is unfit for society. Marriage in 19th century
society is a rite of passage to becoming the ideal woman and without marital status, reputation
suffers. Lily s downfall from society is marked as Simon Rosedale rejects her marriage proposal
by saying, I won t go into what s happened. I don t believe the stories about you I don t WANT to
believe them. But they re there, and my not believing them ain t going to alter the situation
(Wharton). Regardless of the fact that Rosedale doesn t believe the stories, the stories still exist
and continue to circulate throughout their social group. Even though Rosedale understands that the
rumors are made due to Bertha using Lily as a scapegoat, scandal permeates their relationship.
Rosedale s refusal to take Lily as wife due to her current reputation reveals how fragile a woman s

The Innocence Of Simple Observation
In particular, Krishnamurti emphasizes that In all spiritual matters, there must be and should be no
authority whatsoever because you cannot be free, to investigate, to find out for yourself what
meditation means if you are under the influence of an authority (What is Meditation (Truth and
Actuality) 1968). By the word investigate, he means observation. It is only in the process of
observation that we can learn the reality of what is. In the innocence of simple observation there
can be no judgement or holding to anything that is seen. In pure observation which Krishnamurti
also terms as choiceless awareness (Beyond Myth and Tradition Series 1997) he suggests that when

The double slit experiment demonstrates that the observation of a system will alter the final
product to be particles or waves if no observation takes place a wave pattern is revealed; if
observation takes place these same objects exhibit the behavior of point particles. When fully
matured observation of the movement of life increases our level of awareness and perception which
allows for the natural transcending of the senses and the intellectual mind to bring us to the direct
experience of the Self which is always in the transcendent. In the transcendent we realize that the
observer has become the observed, the two are united in One, the Self. According to Krishnamurti,
to transcend is by choiceless awareness (Beyond Myth and Tradition Series 1997) which allows the
mind to be free of all its total content so that we empty the known and from that emptiness...is
something most holy, which is the whole movement of meditation, then life then has a totally
different meaning (What is Meditation (Truth and Actuality) 1968). What Krishnamurti appears to
be suggesting is that to live in a permanent state of transcendence there is no need to study books on
self improvement or to self program one s self or be confined within the practice of regular
meditation for the transcendent power of innocent observation is enough to unite us with the Self.

A Business Pl Summertime Sno Cones Essay
Following is an analysis of a hypothetical business I would find pleasure enacting. When choosing
to run a business, both strategy and passion need to be present. One of my future business plans is
Summertime Sno Cones. A privately owned and operated, seasonal business that produces snow
cones at a reasonable price, in a family friendly environment. I believe an energetic and inviting
snow conestand could bring happiness to people in my community, and could also be a lucrative
business venture.
My family currently has a snow cone business in a prime location in Hugo, Oklahoma. Upon their
retirement, they plan to pass it down to me. The building will need many, future renovations, in
order to enact my plan and make the environment more accommodating and friendly for a larger,
more diverse audience. A couple of essential changes that would need to be implemented before
I opened, would be a small expansion of the building to include more storage space, as well as
renovation and cleaning of the lot on which the business located. By graduation, I hope to have
the savings needed to buy the necessary supplies to make the aforementioned renovations. Snow
cones have played an important role in my raising and I have bonded and grown with my family
over this sweet cold treat. Currently, at the beginning of fall, my family s snow cone stand is
selling an average of 100 snow cones per day. My total fixed costs for a month of operation amount

As the practice of medicine advances, patients and the society in general demand medical

A Reflection On The Educator
1.It is important to have frequent interactions with children as this enables them to know us and

their interests, preferences and this helps us to organise activities for them. It is important to have
caring and respectful interactions as when the children feel that the educator care for them they
will feel safe and will be able to trust the educator. The trust will bring confidence in the child.
When the educator respects the children the children will respectthe educator in return.

B. Dubois And Booker T. Washington Essay
W.E.B. DuBois and Booker T. Washington The end of the Civil War was followed almost
immediately by a new wave that would see the African Americans face great suffering and
discrimination. As newly freed slaves, African Americans were presented with a dilemma to either
curve a new niche in a society that once viewed and treated them as mere properties than humans. It
was during these difficult times that two key figures in the African AmericanHistory rose as
paramount leaders of two sharply contrasting philosophical camps. The Massachusettian William
Edward Burghardt and the Virginian Booker T. Washington
, both held two completely contrasting
proposals about the best approach for African American to overcome and thrive in the mist of their
suffering and racial discrimination. Although their approaches greatly differed, both of these noble
men shared a common goal in uplifting the black community in history. The aim of this paper is to
argue in the contrasting philosophies of these two key figures in the history of African America.
Booker T. Washington was born in around 1950s in Franklin County of Virginia and spent the
better part of his childhood as a slave. Following the emancipation, majority of the black
community including Washington ware convinced that obtaining a formalized education was the
best approach to improve their lifestyles and social class. The Blacks had a fairly limited

The Causes Of Human Growth And The Endocrine System
In mammals, we find that the body requires certain systems to function properly and effectively in
order to grow. The endocrine system is one of the physiological systems that primarily regulates
growth and plays a vital role in the onset of post natal growth as well as the onset and cessation of
pubertal growth. There are also other contributors such as nutrition and genetics, etc. that influence
these growth patterns. The endocrine systemis a vital messaging system that relies completely on
hormonedelivery to specific cells. The medium of this delivery is the blood in the venous system
which means that the hormones secreted can reach target cells often located far from the endocrine
glands; this is an efficient method as the endocrine system regulates activities that require duration
rather than speed. This efficient system means that homeostasis can be maintained. As the
hormones are distributed in the blood through the venous system, this results in the whole body
being exposed to these hormones and therefore the fact that only the target cells have specific
binding receptors for the particular hormone means that only those target cells will respond to the
exposure of the hormone. Once the hormone is bound to its specific target cell receptors, a chain of
events within the target cells occurs that brings about the hormones final effect. (Sherwood, 2016)

Lindbergh Kidnapping Essay
Imagine a child being kidnapped in the middle of the night. Anne and Lindbergh were living in
their recently built mansion in a remote area of Sourland Hills near Hopewell, New Jersey when
Bruno Hauptmann s, on the night of March 1, 1932, kidnapped and murdered Charles Lindbergh s
son. In the controversial court case of the Lindbergh Kidnapping, the guilty verdict correctly
prosecuted Hauptmann with key evidence: the ladder, ransom notes, and ransom money.
The ransom money could trace be traced back to Hauptmann in several ways. A gas station
attendant connected Hauptmann to the ransom payments when he received the gold certificate
currency. He scribbled down the license plate number which was later found to belong to Bruno

(2008). Four witnesses were there to rebut ,but were not needed because the defense could not
produce a qualified witness to say that Hauptmann had not written the ransom notes. Furthermore
Hauptmann speech patterns also help to point that he wrote the ransom notes. When Hauptmann
was examined in the Bronx on Oct 3, 1934 by Dr. James Huddleson, he admitted to an occasional
speaking defect of adding a final e sound to many words... Koenigsberg, A. (2000, November
19). This was noticeable in both English and German which correlates to the way the ransom
notes were written. Examples of the ransom notes include note for not and cane for can . The
ransom notes were to be Hauptmann s responsibility alone. The ladder is key evidence tying
Hauptmann to the kidnapping. Hauptmann had a drawing of the ladder in his sketchbook. The
dimensions were very close to the actual ladder. Yet it is identical in mortise construction of the
kidnap ladder, with the same indented rungs. He did not name the itinerant artist Koenigsberg, A.
(2000, November 19). Hauptmann had a sketch of the ladder among his own papers. When
presented with the paper at the trial, he blamed it on a visiting child. The sketch had the same
structure of the kidnap ladder.Arthur Koehler analysed the grains of wood from Hauptmann s attic
and determined it match Rail 16 of the ladder. Koehler disassembled the ladder and painstakingly
identified the types of wood used

International Food Festival Sparknotes
The International Food Festival is a graphic novel that was put together by Parvati Nair, Alana
Susbilla, Izabella Gomez, and I. The novel is about an International food festival that takes place
in the united states and to be exactly it takes place in our present day time during Trump s
presidency. The food festival has desserts and dishes from all over the world. The protagonist of
the graphic novel are the international foods who are all nice and respecting of others. While, the
antagonist of the graphic novel are the American foods who believe that they are superior to the
international foods. The international foods stick up to the American foods hate and eventually at
the end all of the foods get eaten. The purpose of the graphic novel was to spread awareness about
the amount of racismthat takes place in the United States. The amount of hate crimes in the United
States has increased since the Donald Trumpbecame the president. In general the man representing
our whole nation is racist, homophobic, anti feminist, and much more. The quote get of my country
has been thrown around by Trump when referring to illegal immigrants and foreigners in general.

The ethos appeal can be seen by asking a simple question, is it ethically correct to be saying get
out of my festival just because of where the dessert is from. The answer is it s not ethically
correct to be saying a phrase like that. If this was a conversation between two people other
people would try to step in because it is ethically wrong for someone to be treated like that. The
pathos appeal can be seen by asking how the international desserts felt after the American dessert
harassed them. The Americans desserts did not feel good after this they felt hurt and they felt it
was unfair. Trump has continually harassed illegal immigrants and even ripped families apart.

What Divided Whigs and Tories in the Reigns of William Iii...
Jack Wilson
What divided Whigs and Tories in the reigns of William III and Queen Anne (1688 1714)?
The early days of the new reign of King William III of Orange and his wife Queen Mary II were
overshadowed by uncertainty. Could James II hasty departure be treated as abdication? If so by
which means mere physical absence or a violation of fundamental laws? And what kind of steps
should be made to ensure such monarchic contractual failures didn t occur again?
Such questions were a true cause of glory in the Glorious revolution . People with incompatible
views, despite the passion of beliefs and the heat of the moment, where driven together in pursuit of
a compromise through diplomacy. This uncertainty, arising as a result of... Show more content on

But their support was not confined to the countries gentry: the party garnered strong backing in
backward, agrarian regions as well as small market towns[9]. The Whigs were largely associated
with the nouveau riche: those who lacked aristocratic lineage but had acquired considerable wealth
within their generation, usually through their own exploits and endeavour. This included the
substantial number of merchants, financiers and monopolists that emerged during William and
Anne s reigns. The party was also strong in budding industrial areas and amongst religious
dissenters[10].
Although it may not seem like such on first inspection, the principles adopted by Whig and Tory
upon William s succession to the throne in 1689 followed much the same pattern as those
adopted during the Exclusion Bill crisis of 1678 1681. Just as in the exclusion crisis the Whig s
stance hinged entirely upon their religious beliefs. Like Charles II, James II and his newborn
Stuart heir were Roman Catholic. All Whigs were united by the unwavering belief that Roman
Catholics, regardless of their lineage, should not under any circumstances be in possession of the
throne[11]. Such a scenario, in their eyes, would endanger Protestant religion, liberty and property.
This principle was not totally unshared by the Tories. However, in the case of William, it was
severely undermined by other staunch Tory beliefs namely their belief in indefeasible hereditary
succession, non resistance and passive

The Effects of Scientific Racism on Black Women Essay
The Effects of Scientific Racism on Black Women
Scientific racism has been used to oppress, enslave and to justify torture. In my essay I will
explore how scientific racism has been used to detriment the health of women of colour.
Throughout history women of colour have been experimented upon, sexualized and
reproductively abused with scientific racism as justification or the underlying premise for the
thought behind this abuse. I will explore this idea using examples throughout various periods of
history, as well I will show the contemporary effects. First, I will look at the enslavement of
Africans in the New World. During this period women of African descent were raped and abused.
They were deemed as sexual beings and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These science based eugenic influences break through the lines of science in to the world of
politics, promulgating anti humanistic views of poor women of colour in the form of legislation
fraught with bigotry and baseless generalizations. This political view flows through the judicial
system, as courts apply eugenic philosophies in determining who should be sterilized and for what
reasons.
Black feminists have investigated how rape as a specific form of sexual violence is embedded in a
system of interlocking race, gender, and class oppression (Davis 1978, 1981, 1989; Hall 1983).
Reproductive rights issues such as access to information on sexuality and birth control, the
struggles for abortion rights, and patterns of forced sterilization have also garnered attention
Examining the links between sexuality and power in a system of interlocking race, gender, and class
oppression should reveal how important controlling Black women s sexuality has been to the
effective operation of domination overall. The words of Angela Davis, Audre Lorde, Barbara
Smith, and Alice Walker provide a promising foundation for a comprehensive Black feminist
analysis.

Net Neutrality Is The Principle Of Internet Service...
Net neutrality is the principle that Internet service providers should enable
access to all content and applications regardless of the source, and without favoring
or blocking certain products or webpages. Net neutrality is like the Equal Protection
Clause (5th Amendment) in that it is the idea that Internet service providers (ISPs)
and governments should treat all site data equally. In other words, no one should be
throttling speeds or blocking certain sites outright because of their content, author
or country of origin. The alternative is called a closed internet where companies
are allowed to restrict access to services and sites by exerting control over the
broadband...the pipe through which we get access to the Internet (Podhoretz
2010). Generally in a capitalist society, competition is seen as a positive motivator
because it creates an efficient marketplace. However, this system breaks down
when supply is artificially limited. Consumers expect to pay more for better
products, whether it is a high definition cameras or a custom pair of boots. The US
market is based on the theory that competition stimulates the economy and
generates the best products. The cable/internet market is unusual in this regard
because there is very little competition between ISPs (Podhoretz 2010). The main
reason for this is because market is saturated and the entry fees are incredibly high
(Brodkin 2014). The companies that have footholds in this market have

Race And Gender Equality In America
Have we really came far in the fight for racial and gender equality in America? We have made
constant strides towards equality, but there is still a substantial amount of work to be done. The
road ahead will be long and difficult, but for our society to become better we must learn how to be
equal. According to Oxforddictionaries.com to be equal is (of people) having the same status,
rights, or opportunities . The controversy within the topic of raceand gendercauses hatred towards

King Leopolds Ghost Essay
Book Review of King Leopold s Ghost, by Adam Hochschild
What some have considered to be the first international scandal of
the modern era took place in the Congo from 1890 until 1910. King Leopold
II of Belgium was at the head of this so called scandal. Although Europe
and the rest of the world seemed to have forgotten the victims of these
crimes, there is a considerable amount of material to use when attempting to
recreate the horror that took place in Leopold s Congo. This is exactly
what Adam Hochschild is attempting to do by writing this book. By using the
written words of mostly Europeans and Americans, which creates a distorted
view of history, he wants to show that the Holocaust type event ... Show more content on

Leopold finds the angle he needs and that is pretending to engage in a

In Chapter 9, quot;Meeting Mr. Kurtz, quot; Hochschild provides a good
description of the novel, Heart of Darkness, and in the process enlightens
the reader about the true background and meaning to Joseph Conrad s novel.
Early in the book, Hochschild mentions the novel and how it has been studied
for Freudian overtones, mystic echoes, and its inward vision. According to
him, the book is more fact than fiction because there are many similarities
between the book and Conrad s very own travels into the Congo. In fact,
Hochschild calls the narrator of Heart of Darkness, Marlow, Conrad s alter
ego. Probably the biggest example of how the book is based on Conrad s own
travels is the fact that the stories villain, Mr. Kurtz, is clearly
inspired by a number of real people. These include George Antoine Klein,
Major Edmund Barttelot, and Captain Leon Rom, who probably is the real life
basis for Kurtz s most important signal, a collection of African heads
around his house. Heart of Darkness is given a completely new spin because
of Hochschild s interpretation.
Hochschild has a tendency to be too descriptive. There are some
parts in the book

Essay On The Nomination Process
Nonetheless, the difference in party alignment has clear implications for the nomination process.
During the nomination process, you are facing other members of your party to fight for the single
nomination for the general election. This means you have to fight over voters with quite similar
ideologies. This would exclude the extreme number of people from the other party, and perhaps
many people who are in the middle and cannot decide which way to lean yet. Due to this, candidates
must strategize their rhetoric and conduct to appeal to the most extreme members of the party.
Studies have shown that the people who vote in primary electionsare in general more highly
educated, and indicate more party activism/pride (Lecture Notes).
For as long as this process has seemed to get the job done, people this election cycle have been
curious if certain changes could be made to the nomination process that would allow for more
suitable candidates in the future, especially considering the displeasure of this current elections ...

The most important thing we can do as a nation is to be aware of what is happening, and why it is

respectful and constructive manner because this is the only way people will actually take the
time to listen to what you have to say. Is our system perfect? Perhaps not, but this is the system
we have been given and it is our prerogative to take advantage of it. If something or someone is

How Does Mr Keating Promote Critical Thinking
Mr. Keating promotes critical thinking in multiple ways throughout the film. He does this by
establishing verbal reasoning, argument analysis, probabilistic reasoning, and hypothesis testing
(Ormrod, 2015, p.123). For example, at the very start of the film, during Mr. Keating s very first
class, he requires his students to leave the classroom and visit the school s display case which
contains many school achievements. Mr. Keating then mentions that the students have the potential
to become powerful individuals and that they are responsible for their future. This statement
encourages his students to engage in verbal reasoning because they are understanding and
evaluating who Mr. Keating is as a teacher, how this class will be set up for the future, and what he
means. After mentioning that the students may call him O captain, my captain , if they dare, Mr.
Keating dismisses the class and urges the boys to think for themselves about the situation
(Williams, Weir, 1989). Later, the audience witnesses

the first page of the poetry book. After one of the students reads the instructions for how to rate

up the first page. A couple of students are hesitant; they are demonstrating probabilistic reasoning
or determining the likelihood and uncertainties associated with various events (Ormrod, 2015,
p.123). Mr. Keating responds to them by saying that they should not worry because the poetry
book is not the Bible. His remark illustrates the issues with the expressions of conformity and the
significance of freedom or choice. The students utilize critical thinking by looking analytically and
critically at why they are engaging in specific tasks throughout Mr. Keating s classroom lessons;

Similarities Between Everyman And The Pilgrim s Progress
Religion has played a significant role in the shaping and molding of human civilization. In the
Middle Ages, religion was a core pinnacle that served as a source of guidance and meaning for
individuals and the state. The medieval play, Everyman, explores the journey of Everyman to
Heaven and the phases he must go through in order to stand before God to give an account of his
life. Everyman was written during a time when the Catholic Church s practice of penance was
paramount as a means for attaining salvation. The personification of the everyday person and
spiritual qualities in this play gives an impressive insight into the trials and victories that are part of
the Christian walk on the journey to eternal life. This work embodies the... Show more content on

Christian on a journey to eternal life longs for fellowship in order to have a sense of community
and joy. The outcome of life one strives for is to live a rewarding life. God will judge each
individual s good and bad deeds when all mankind stands before Him to give an account of their
life. The allegorical aspect of the play serves an important role in this scene because it appeals to
the common individual through its emphasis on relationship. Everyman s longing for a friend is
an inherent desire of every Christian because it gives them a sense of community while seeking
purpose and meaning in life. In his article, The Doctrine of Friendship in Everyman, John
Conley says, In his hour of adversity Everyman turns first to Fellowship, who like a true friend
readily promises to help before he knows what will be asked of him...But as soon as Fellowship
learns what Everyman wants of him, he reneges on his promise (376). Here, Friendship appears
to be a nice and loyal friend on the surface; however, as the layers are removed, his true character is

Standard cost of direct labour is calculated by multiplying the standard labour hour (comprised of
both the manufacturing standard hour and packing standard hour) and standard labour hour rate.
Finally, to calculate the standard cost of overhead, the overhead costs are distributed to different
departments say production department and service department which is called primary
distribution and then the costs of service departments are redistributed to production departments
which is called secondary distribution. From that, the variable and fixed overhead rate is
calculated. By multiplying the rates with the standard labour hour of a product, the fixed and
variable overhead can be got. At last, standard direct material cost, standard direct labour cost and
standard overhead cost are added to get the total standard cost of a product.
In cost variance analysis, the deviation between standard cost and actual cost of a cost element is
calculated. If actual cost is greater than the standard cost, then situation is called unfavourable and
if the actual cost is lower than the standard cost, then the situation is called favourable. By
calculating different cost variances, the company can take precautionary actions.
There are some major weaknesses in standard costing procedure and cost variance analysis. In
standard costing procedure, the standard

In J.D. Salinger s Nine Stories , there are two stories that indicate a death, and, remarkably, these
two short stories are what begin and end this captivating piece of literature. The first story is
called A Perfect Day for Bananafish and introduces a man who has been through the hell of
World War II, which allows him to see things from a different perspective. The latter is called
Teddy and revolves around a young, ingenious boy that seems to have a speculative mindset and
very deep insight into life. In both stories the reader is introduced to a genius , but the geniuses,
with all the potentials at hand, end up going mad and killing themselves. However, this proves to
be Salinger s point. It demonstrates a fine line that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When Seymour takes his own life, we backtrack to his story and he is then seen as a celestial
figure, ahead of his time and full of wisdom. Metaphorically speaking, the bananafish ideology
depicts humanity in the postwar boom generation, where riches surround all people. However,
amidst all the possessions, we cannot help ourselves and we continuously and relentlessly consume,
regardless of what may happen as a result. We are each trapped in our own banana filled hole, in
which Seymour ultimately escapes from through his death.
In the final short story Teddy , the main character is a ten year old boy who is as intuitive and
intelligent as any character gets in this novel, with the exception of Seymour of course. Like
Seymour Glass, Teddy sees the world differently than his peers. The two tend to focus their a lot
of their attention on small details, such as orange peels, the colour of bathing suits, a woman that
seemingly looks at Seymour s feet, and appear to mirror a larger scale vision of humanity. Teddy
s orange peels recall Seymour s bananafish. Both their objects, in Seymour s case an imaginary
one, are somewhat allegorical in a sense that they seem to suggest a philosophical portrayal of
humanity. To clarify, Teddy first notices the orange peels floating and finds them interesting. The
remnants of what was once a living fruit, now floating, lifeless on the dark water. Later on he notes
that, if he had not seen the orange peels, he would

  • 2. Newton And Seurat Research Paper The world that we live in is constantly innovating new ideas and methods to benefit the lives of many. It is a fascinating opportunity to reflect on all the inventions that have been made throughout each of our lifetimes. Two very important individuals that shaped the world we live in today is Sir Isaac Newton and Georges Pierre Seurat. Sir Isaac Newton was an English mathematician and physicist. There is a theory that Newton discovered gravity when he saw a falling apple. Supposedly, when he was observing the apple he was also thinking about the forces of nature. Newton realized that some force must be acting on falling objects like apples because otherwise they would not start moving from rest. Newton also realized that the moon would fly ... This is the reaction of one s force on the soft object, and the soft object s reaction to one standing on it.Seurat painted the La Grande Jatte in three distinct stages. In the first stage, which was started in 1884, Seurat mixed his paints from several individual pigments and was still using dull earth pigments such as ochre or burnt sienna. In the second stage, during 1885 and 1886, Seurat dispensed with the earth pigments and also limited the number of individual pigments in his paints. This change in Seurat s palette was due to his application of the advanced color theories of his time. His intention was to paint small dots or strokes of pure color that would then mix on the retina of the beholder to achieve the desired color impression instead of the usual practice of mixing individual pigments.Seurat s palette consisted of the usual pigments of his time such as cobalt blue, emerald green and vermilion. Additionally, Seurat used then new pigment zinc yellow (zinc chromate), predominantly for yellow highlights in the sunlit grass in the middle of the painting but also in mixtures with orange and blue pigments. The author does this by putting the main character in the story, though situations that make him realize that he is diminished from society. The meaning of the story is supported by the setting of where different things take place throughout the story. Places such as the main ballroom played an important role. The events turn south one the protagonist is made to partake in horrific humiliating events to entertain the white upper classmen. It all began when he was invited into the hotel ballroom that he would begin being told what to do or what to say or act. The way the room was set up, put a boxing ring in front of a row of chairs from all three sides. The battle royal expresses the way in which members of the black community are looked at by whites. They are nothing but a source of cruel amusement, At worst, they are non existent. The battle royal allows the town leaders to express their aggression toward the black boys in a way that they believed was safe (Wallace 2013). Immediately after the main character arrives to the boxing ring is when he faces a new challenge that he must overcome. This fight between classmates has him worried that he might not even get a chance to give his speech. The author implies that the setting of the boxing ring can intimidate anybody if there were in the same position. The author states that I want to get at that ginger colored nigger. Tear him limb from limb...I stood against the ropes trembling (Ellison 208). This hostile environment allowed the readers to see what position the main character finds himself in the middle of. This boxing ring allows readers to get a better picture of what the story is about. The use of an environment where he is forced to do something while blindfolded and beaten for entertainment ... Within the concept of illness, there is the very human sensation of pain. Colonel Bill Kilgore escapes all pain. Willard states, He knew he wasn t gonna get so much as a scratch here (Coppola). Emptiness replaces their humanistic feelings of illness or pain. Without these sensations, they desensitized, so that they are left as merely physical shells. As a result of these two characters avoiding any physical pain, it is implied that the jungle has the ability to rob men of the qualities which makes them human. The Unintended Discovery William Laurance (https://research.jcu.edu.au/portfolio/bill.laurance), a researcher at James Cook University (http://www.jcu.edu.au/) in Australia, says that they somehow managed to accidentally have the infrared flash that usually only operates at night go off during the day. • 10. The First Homeric Hymn Of Aphrodite The first Homeric Hymn of Aphrodite tells the story of Aphrodite, the Greek goddess of love, desire, and beauty. She is the daughter of Zeus and highly regarded among both immortals and mortal men. The story recounts the power that Aphrodite possesses as well as the limitations of her power. One limitation this hymn primarily focuses on is a situation in which Aphrodite is humiliated. This myth utilizes strategies such as story structure and word choice in order to describe how Aphrodite is humiliated. The structure of a myth is imperative to understanding the sequence of a story. In this hymn, the structure begins with discussing Aphrodite s beauty from lines 1 to 29. The remainder of the myth discuss the situation that embarrasses Aphrodite. Already, the amount of time spent discussing both perspectives of Aphrodite s narrative indicates that the story of her humiliation outweighs her power. Additionally, the order in which the narrative is presented affects how each perspective is received. Aphrodite s power is built up in the beginning of the narrative; she taught earthly men the fashioning of chariots (7) and received a good share of honor (18) from her father Zeus. White people have always had an idealistic stereotype on how they have viewed the African American race. In the case of the Scottsboro Boys and the events in Native Son by Richard Wright, it is evident that there are many things to be cautious of as a young black man in America. It caught my attention as a reader of Native Son, when Bigger kills Mary and he reacts in a way that fear only strikes him because he is a young black man and she was white. A young black man s biggest fear has always been to be accused of a crime against a white person because laws were made in favor of the white race. These replicating enzymes and cycle phases have been identified as potential therapeutic drug targets for HIV therapy (Fig 2), therefore leading to the development of novel anti retroviral drugs as stated below; Fusion Inhibitors (FIs) and Entry inhibitors (EIs): They prevent entry of the viral capsid into the host CD4+ T cell, by inhibiting the viral Gp41 and Gp120 from binding and fusing with chemocokine coreceptors CCR5 or CXCR4 on the surface of the host cell. Europe began Imperialism as a way of acquiring more land, money and power. This imperialism was driven more by cultural desires than economic desires, as in the past. Europeans believed that by colonizing and forcing cultural practices and religion on a country that was considered inferior, they were helping them and thereby doing God s will. When fully matured observation of the movement of life increases our level of awareness and perception which allows for the natural transcending of the senses and the intellectual mind to bring us to the direct experience of the Self which is always in the transcendent. In the transcendent we realize that the observer has become the observed, the two are united in One, the Self. According to Krishnamurti, to transcend is by choiceless awareness (Beyond Myth and Tradition Series 1997) which allows the mind to be free of all its total content so that we empty the known and from that emptiness...is something most holy, which is the whole movement of meditation, then life then has a totally different meaning (What is Meditation (Truth and Actuality) 1968). What Krishnamurti appears to be suggesting is that to live in a permanent state of transcendence there is no need to study books on self improvement or to self program one s self or be confined within the practice of regular meditation for the transcendent power of innocent observation is enough to unite us with the Self. When choosing to run a business, both strategy and passion need to be present. One of my future business plans is Summertime Sno Cones. I believe an energetic and inviting snow conestand could bring happiness to people in my community, and could also be a lucrative business venture. The building will need many, future renovations, in order to enact my plan and make the environment more accommodating and friendly for a larger, more diverse audience. A couple of essential changes that would need to be implemented before I opened, would be a small expansion of the building to include more storage space, as well as renovation and cleaning of the lot on which the business located. By graduation, I hope to have the savings needed to buy the necessary supplies to make the aforementioned renovations. Snow cones have played an important role in my raising and I have bonded and grown with my family over this sweet cold treat. Currently, at the beginning of fall, my family s snow cone stand is selling an average of 100 snow cones per day. My total fixed costs for a month of operation amount to $410. • 37. The Causes Of Human Growth And The Endocrine System In mammals, we find that the body requires certain systems to function properly and effectively in order to grow. The endocrine system is one of the physiological systems that primarily regulates growth and plays a vital role in the onset of post natal growth as well as the onset and cessation of pubertal growth. There are also other contributors such as nutrition and genetics, etc. that influence these growth patterns. The endocrine systemis a vital messaging system that relies completely on hormonedelivery to specific cells. The medium of this delivery is the blood in the venous system which means that the hormones secreted can reach target cells often located far from the endocrine glands; this is an efficient method as the endocrine system regulates activities that require duration rather than speed. This efficient system means that homeostasis can be maintained. As the hormones are distributed in the blood through the venous system, this results in the whole body being exposed to these hormones and therefore the fact that only the target cells have specific binding receptors for the particular hormone means that only those target cells will respond to the exposure of the hormone. Once the hormone is bound to its specific target cell receptors, a chain of events within the target cells occurs that brings about the hormones final effect. The Whigs were largely associated with the nouveau riche: those who lacked aristocratic lineage but had acquired considerable wealth within their generation, usually through their own exploits and endeavour. This included the substantial number of merchants, financiers and monopolists that emerged during William and Anne s reigns. The party was also strong in budding industrial areas and amongst religious dissenters[10]. Although it may not seem like such on first inspection, the principles adopted by Whig and Tory upon William s succession to the throne in 1689 followed much the same pattern as those adopted during the Exclusion Bill crisis of 1678 1681. Just as in the exclusion crisis the Whig s stance hinged entirely upon their religious beliefs. Like Charles II, James II and his newborn Stuart heir were Roman Catholic. All Whigs were united by the unwavering belief that Roman Catholics, regardless of their lineage, should not under any circumstances be in possession of the throne[11]. Net neutrality is the principle that Internet service providers should enable access to all content and applications regardless of the source, and without favoring or blocking certain products or webpages. Net neutrality is like the Equal Protection Clause (5th Amendment) in that it is the idea that Internet service providers (ISPs) and governments should treat all site data equally. In other words, no one should be throttling speeds or blocking certain sites outright because of their content, author or country of origin. Salinger s Nine Stories , there are two stories that indicate a death, and, remarkably, these two short stories are what begin and end this captivating piece of literature. The first story is called A Perfect Day for Bananafish and introduces a man who has been through the hell of World War II, which allows him to see things from a different perspective. The latter is called Teddy and revolves around a young, ingenious boy that seems to have a speculative mindset and very deep insight into life. In both stories the reader is introduced to a genius , but the geniuses, with all the potentials at hand, end up going mad and killing themselves. However, this proves to be Salinger s point. However, amidst all the possessions, we cannot help ourselves and we continuously and relentlessly consume, regardless of what may happen as a result. We are each trapped in our own banana filled hole, in which Seymour ultimately escapes from through his death. In the final short story Teddy , the main character is a ten year old boy who is as intuitive and intelligent as any character gets in this novel, with the exception of Seymour of course. Like Seymour Glass, Teddy sees the world differently than his peers. Teddy s orange peels recall Seymour s bananafish. Both their objects, in Seymour s case an imaginary one, are somewhat allegorical in a sense that they seem to suggest a philosophical portrayal of humanity. To clarify, Teddy first notices the orange peels floating and finds them interesting. The remnants of what was once a living fruit, now floating, lifeless on the dark water. Later on he notes that, if he had not seen the orange peels, he would ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
