Theseus was a legendary Greek hero known for slaying the Minotaur. He was born in Athens to King Aegeus but was raised by his mother away from the city. As a young man, he encountered and killed various bandits on the road to Athens, including Procrustes. Upon arriving in Athens, he helped defeat the Minotaur with the assistance of Ariadne, who provided him with a means to escape the labyrinth. Afterward, Theseus forgot to change the sail on his ship to white upon his safe return, causing his father Aegeus to believe he had died and jump off a cliff in grief.
