Telemachus, the son of Odysseus who has been missing for 20 years, lives in his father's house in Ithaca with his mother Penelope and 108 arrogant suitors who want Penelope to remarry. Athena urges Telemachus to search for news of his father. Telemachus visits Nestor and Menelaus, learning that Odysseus is trapped on the island of the nymph Calypso. Meanwhile, Odysseus escapes from Calypso and ends up shipwrecked on Phaeacia, where he is helped by Nausicaa and King Alcinous and tells his story. The Phaeacians return Odysseus, still in disguise, to Ithaca while he sleep
