  • #5 -Begin with the EPIC GENRE -Slang for word “epic” – “very great” or “impressive” Epic has become associated with video games, music, television, and more The basic idea is that they all have a story of heroism For example in the Lion King, Simba defeats Mufassa and saves the kingdom
  • #6 -Epic Poem is the original form of the word “epic” Hero who has defended the country or culture Rhapsodist is a singer Would travel to different villages singing these songs – typically couldn’t read or write Think of Taylor Swift on tour, only Taylor Swift might have better fashion and I think she can read or write
  • #7 Homer has the earliest known literature in Europe Wrote the Iliad and the Odyssey – both of which we will discuss He was blind, but managed to travel to different villages telling his tales
