The book, Broken Spears was an interesting reading that talked about the Spanish conquest of
Tenochtitlan. Throughout the book, it becomes clear that the Spanish were successful in their
conquest as a result of a number of factors.The Spanish were intimidating in appearance and in
their weaponry. They had animals that the Aztecs had never seen before. They also formed

Midterm Paper I chose to do my research and reading on The Screwtape Letters written by C.S
Lewis, which is a novel written in unique perspective of a Senior Devil named Screwtape who
writes thirty one letters to his nephew Wormwood who can be considered somewhat of a novice
devil or demon of some sort. In these letters, as readers, we find that they are undated and that they
are meant to offer advice to his younger demon nephew as he attempts to steal the soul of a human,
referred to as the patient . We are first introduced to the concept of the patient rather than the human
when Screwtape explains to Wormwoodabout one of his first experiences with one. In his first
letter, Screwtape explains that the best way to lose the human is if the human somehow decides to

Is drumming really difficult to me? In my opinion, drumming can be difficult at some times, and
understanding the concept of drumming wasn t easy at the start. When I first started trying to
play the drums, I didn t understand how to do it. I had no idea that drumming even had different
styles and beats. It took me quite awhile to fully comprehend how complex it really is.
Drumming is not easy at first, can be very complex, and requires a lot of practice. Learning to
play the drums was not easy when I first started figuring out how to play a beat. First of all, I
didn t know which pieces I was supposed to play. After observing another person play the drums, I
saw that I needed to play the snare (like in a marching band), hi hat (two cymbals put together), and
bass drum(the big drum on the bottom), and this combination became my first beat. Trying to play
the bass drumwith the hi hat and snare confused me. I was fine playing the snare and hi hat, but I
always messed up when I tried adding the bass drum. I ended up having CJ play the bass drum
while I played the hi hat and snare, which lasted for over two months until I could play it myself.

Even though most of our information about Native Americans is based upon stereotypes we act as
though that information is cut and clear. This is done without considering their experiences and the
inaccuracies of our so called knowledge. To combat these ignorance writers have taken it upon
themselves to showcase the clear lies that history portrays and to display the experiences of Native
Americans of the past and the present. This is done using things like satire, their personal
experiences, and more. Encounter, by Jane Yolen, is a clear depiction of an author displaying the
experiences of Native Americans in the past. Through the first person account of a young boy,
Yolen makes it so that readers get a feel of the thoughts, emotions, and actions that likely
