LOCALITATION
The Great Wall of China is
located in the North of China,
bordering the Gobi Desert
(Mongolia) and North Korea.
It meets the Gulf of Bohay, in the
northern part of the East China
Sea, in Shanhaiguan. About 300
kilometers from Beijing.
CHARACTERISTICS
It extends approximately 8851
km from east to west of the
country. It was built for
defensive purposes throughout
history and covers all kinds of
landscapes (meadows, valleys,
mountains and deserts).
UNESCO SITE
The Great Wall was included
in 1987 in the World Cultural
Heritage List by the UNESCO
World Heritage Committee,
due to its long history and
grandiose architecture. The
Great Wall was a gigantic
work of military use.
TOURISTS
The Great Wall of China is the
most visited place in the world, in
fact it holds a curios record.
On October 1, 2014, during a
national holiday, the monument
was visited by an incredible 8
million people. Just in one day!
But normally more than 10 million
people visit it a year.

It's estimated that more than 400.000 people
died during the contruction of the Great Wall of
China.
The Great Wall of China is the bigest and the
largest wall in the world.
It was build to protect the Chinese Empire from
possible attacks from nomadic people located to
the north.
There are 5.164 steps in The Great Wall of China.
