Micro-influencers initially defined as having higher audience engagement rates as compared to macro-influencers.
A study by SocialPubli found that micro-influencers generate 7x more engagement than the average generated by
macro-influencers.
And a study by Markerly in 2016 found that those with less than 1,000 followers generally received likes on their
posts 8% of the time. Users with 10 million+ followers only received likes 1.6% of the time.
Influencers in the 10k-100k follower range offer the best combination of engagement and broad reach, with like and
comment rates that exceed influencers with higher followers.

CONCLUSION
Micro-influencers have fewer followers than macro-influencers but we have to admit that they are the rising stars of
the influencer marketing space. And the good news is, they cost a fraction of what you would pay a macro influencer.
But the most important thing is to make sure that their followers and engagements are real. If you don’t have time to

  • 2. INFLUENCER MARKETING Influencer marketing has been embraced as one of the most effective channels for driving a higher ROI. Based on a survey in 2019 from Mediakix, marketers feel confident about influencer marketing as a channel. 80% of marketers find it effective and 71% of them say that it helps them drive high- quality traffic and customers. 89% say ROI from influencer marketing is comparable to or better than other marketing channels.

  • 4. MICROVS MACRO INFLUENCERS Micro-influencers initially defined as having higher audience engagement rates as compared to macro-influencers. A study by SocialPubli found that micro-influencers generate 7x more engagement than the average generated by macro-influencers. And a study by Markerly in 2016 found that those with less than 1,000 followers generally received likes on their posts 8% of the time. Users with 10 million+ followers only received likes 1.6% of the time. Influencers in the 10k-100k follower range offer the best combination of engagement and broad reach, with like and comment rates that exceed influencers with higher followers.
  • 5. HOWTO FIND OUT IF THEIR FOLLOWERS ARE OUR TARGET MARKET 1. Hype Auditor, 2. Social Blade, 3. Discover.ly, 4. Crowdfire 1. Study the whole report and look for a complex data. 2. The authenticity of comments (fake comment could be from a bot or Instagram pod). 3. The authenticity of followers and their country/city (how many accounts they follow comparing to how many followers they have, quality of their feed). 4. Referring to Hub Spot article, an Instagram Pod is a group of about 15-20 people who are in a similar industry as your own. Pods' rules vary, but essentially, whenever a user posts something new, they share that post in the direct message, and everyone in the group is required to like or comment.

  • 12. CONCLUSION Micro-influencers have fewer followers than macro-influencers but we have to admit that they are the rising stars of the influencer marketing space. And the good news is, they cost a fraction of what you would pay a macro influencer. But the most important thing is to make sure that their followers and engagements are real. If you don’t have time to do it manually, Hype Auditor is the tool I would suggest for this job. But still, you need to study the whole report and look for complex data.
