This document summarizes research on the interconnections between different types of violence and abuse. It finds strong associations between exposure to intimate partner violence and child physical abuse, teen dating victimization, stalking, and sexual violence. Additional strong but under-recognized connections are listed between exposure to intimate partner violence and neglect, sexual abuse by known adults, physical assault, and sexual victimization. Weaker though still positive connections are also noted.
