literacy art science subjects come together in this wonderful way to celebrate peace day with the children. Kadinskys circles, hot and cold colours, parts of the body and words to do with peace all came together in this project with my first year juniors in CP Atalia bilingual school in Asturias Spain.

Drama script in class by second year juniors, group work and guided by teacher. Together we looked at funny adjectives for the characters then how the story would be different if they used those adjectives. We then thought what the narrators and characters could say.
St george adjectives
Great for Second year juniors learning English as a second language. In April we celebrate Saint George, San Jordi, UK, Cataluña and many other places with a dramatisation of St George and the dragon. The children normally make up their own scripts in class loosely based on the original story. Hence thinking of different adjectives to start them off. How about a cowardly knight, fat princess and tiny dragon????

The Tree of Peace (Kadinsky style) – Art 1st year Juniors • Use your hand and arm to draw your tree. • Paint your tree using Hot or Cold colours. • Cut out ovals in different sizes. • Think about peace words as a group to write on the smallest oval. • Stick your ovals according to size and whether hot or cold on your tree. This is the finished project. We looked at the artist Kadinsky, Hot and Cold Colours, Our Body and words associated with Peace. 1. draw around your hand and arm. 2. paint using hot or cold colours.
- 2. 3. cut ovals in big medium small sizes and place on your tree. 4. brainstorm some words that make you think about peace and write on your tree leaves. 5. Share with the children some Kadinsky pictures and see if they can see similarities with their trees. 6. Display your Trees of Peace.
