Role in THERMOS : Pilot city
• Identify and collect required datasets WP1:
– energy sources (biogas, surplus heat, biomass, solar…)
– energy consumers (present and future)
– thermal energy network costs of building (pipes, generation, distribution, storage
…)and providing steam and hot water
• Help the leaders in modeling from a multi-scale multi-vector point of view and use
THERMOS’ application for Granollers district heating network planning (WP2-WP3)
according to our user-needs and challenges (public authority).
• Share the knowledge gained from the experience with the replication city of Cascais
(Portugal), have technicians trained (WP4) and disseminate and promote THERMOS
adoption roadmap among local and regional authorities, energy agencies, industry
and consumer associations (WP5).
• Hosting 1 project meetings (WP1) and hosting one twinning workshop (WP4)

Expectations and needs...
• Identify and quantify the best way/solutions to build a district heating
system in the city from a multi-scale multi-vector point of view, with a
dynamic local supply and demand.
• Help local energy planners to develop a DH network over the next years
in a consolidated urban area, and be able to reduce local fossil energy
consumption and local GHG emissions.
Target group
• In Spain and Catalonia we have regular contact with local and regional
authorities and networks, energy agencies, public and private utilities,
industry and investors related to thermal energy.
