Mediamatic, an Amsterdam-based digital design thinktank invited Jason DaPonte, Managing Director of THE SWARM, to their mobile media event being held on 9 December 2010. This is the presentation he gave.
This talk will explore how games play an integral part in today's crossmedia landscape. More and more, fictional worlds are being created with multiple points of entry that provide fans as little or as much access and agency as they want into the stories found in these worlds. Specific examples will be discussed in order to highlight the role that video games play in the overall experiences, as well as to illustrate how game design serves as an overarching trope through which fans are encouraged to explore the various media in order to fully experience the fictional world.
Based on my original article (http://bit.ly/invisible-future) written in 2017, this talk at UX Alive 2018 in Istanbul further explored how sensors and physical context awareness are radically transforming our approach to designing and developing digital products.
A mysterious virus begins to affect the adults in a small rural town, and the youth soon find themselves cut off from civilization, fighting for their lives. How fast is the virus spreading? It is confirmed—the virus has hit Park City. Can you survive? Pandemic 1.0, a transmedia storytelling experience, unites film, mobile and online technologies, props, social gaming, and data visualization, enabling audiences to step into the shoes of the pandemic protagonists anytime during the day. Mission Control is the only way to learn where you stand in the face of the spreading pandemic.

This presentation focuses on the ways in which technology - and smartmobile in particular - can "rehumanize" us or at least bring out the humanity in us, primarily though CREATION, CONNECTION, and REFLECTION. It's a counter-argument for "put away that phone" and "get of social media". While mostly philosophical, it does offer a few examples of specific apps one could use.
Please note that because this was an Apple Keynote, all embedded videos will not play.

We are all digital story painters, but what will be tomorrow’s canvas? How will devices change? How will consumers have fun? And where, when and how is it best for our brands to speak to them? What does Microsoft have to offer to advertisers with its digital assets, will be presented by Béla E. Papp, director of Advertising & Online for CEE at Microsoft. He will especially underline the Microsoft's vision of advertising and online media future.
A blurring of worlds is occurring. Online data is appearing in offline objects. From nightstands that tweet, evening dresses that react to the weather, to billboards that use Foursquare check-ins to feed dogs, data is appearing in unexpected places in some pretty funky ways. Social Media expert Dave Linabury will highlight some of the more unusual examples and provide some clarity as to why this is going on.
