- Throughout history, humankind has shared the desire to explore which led to discovery. Prehistoric men and women may have stood curiously at the opening to caves and wondered what was over the next hill. Centuries later, a teenager of this age possesses a vision to have a trip to a distant planet.
- Directing Staff and Officers present, Assalamu alaikum and a very good morning to you all. I Lt Cdr Rafiq welcome you all in this short talk-2 session where I am going to present on the success story of spaceX.
- The fantasy of visiting the space has always haunted mankind. With the progress of technology in the 21st century, the space technology has evolved parallely. And now, living in another planet is just a matter of time. SpaceX is the private company which is going to make it possible within years.
- With this, the aim of my today’s presentation is to brief about the success story of SpaceX. I’ll be taking 9 mins of your precious time to deliver my speech. Hope this will not go in vain

- Now lets get to know what spaceX actually is. It is a private aerospace company that stands for Space Exploration Technologies Limited. It was formed in 2002. Whats special about spaceX is, it offers commercial spaceflight and it has also built crewed spacecraft as a private company for the first time. The headquarters is situated in California.
- As it is a private company, it definitely has an owner and he is none but Elon Musk. We already know about him more or less as his name has become synonymous with innovation. His relentless pursuit of making the impossible possible has been the driving force behind SpaceX's meteoric rise. He is an American entrepreneur. He has bachelor’s degree in economics and physics. He was the founder of PayPAl and Tesla motors. He is also the co-founder of Neuralink, Open AI. If we see closely, the horizon of Elon Musk’s knowledge extends from economics to science which are two different arena.
- Now we will see the journey of SpaceX starting with its origin. Well in 2001, Elon Musk went to Russia with his friends to buy a refurbished ICBM. But because of the illogical high price offered by Russia, Musk thought of building the rockets by his own. Therefore, he took the endeavor of building falcon 1 with almost 100 milion USD from his personal fund. Thus, the journey of spaceX had started.
- After spaceX started the journey, there were as many as three unsuccessful attempt and Elon must got almost bankrupted. But with his extreme belief of himself, he never stopped dreaming and took the 4th attempt. Well, in 2008, the fourth attempt came into a success with Falcon 1. By 2010, the falcon 9 also brought success. With this, the spaceX started sending rockets from the earth and successfully brought it back to the earth.
- The aim of spaceX was to build low cost and reusable rockets. Today, with the help of booster recovery system, as we can see in the slide, the booster of the rockets can be reused after successful recovery. This leads to save the money as well as time for building new rockets. At present SpaceX is sending cargo and also NASA astronauts to the ISS. For the last decade the US had to rely on the Russian spacecrafts to send their astronauts to ISS, but in May 30, 2020 with the first crewed flight of a dragon capsule the SpaceX sent two American astronauts to the ISS successfully. One thing that must be mentioned that, our very own Bangabandhu Sattelite was also taken to the orbit by a spaceX craft.
- In future spaceX looks forward of sending civilians to the space. They are also looking forward to make a lunar base. By lunar base we mean a base in the moon. This would be made possible by building starships as we can see on the slide. The experiment on operation of starship is still under process. SpaceX also plans to make the planet mars colonized. Their future inversions also include making spacecrafts for high speed travel within different countries of the world. So, may be in future we are going to use space to travel from Bangladesh to USA within minutes.
- Officers present, the take away of this presentation is, we don’t know about our potentiality till we push ourselves hard. A company like SpaceX would not be possible to make if elon musk restricted himself within his knowledge of economics by what he invented Paypal. A dream is called a dream when its insane. Even in the last century living in another planet was almost unthinkable but today as we can see, spaceX is on the verge of making it possible. Then comes about dreaming big. The spaceX could be restricted within just going into the orbit whereas now, the company is taking steps to colonize the red planet. Another point is, we must keep firm belief in ourselves and our capabilities. We must belief that we can even if it sounds insane. And last but not the least, we must be risk takers. If we see the life of Elon mask and his company spaceX, there were so many risks involved but the inventions were continued.
