The key lessons this year
A French – and Spanish –
dissatisfaction with training
This, however, does not mean they are dissatisfied with
the training courses themselves.
This seems to go hand-in-hand with the feeling that the
company in general and managers in particular are not
providing enough support.
Generally speaking, employees in small and medium-
sized businesses are happier with their training and
professional skill building projects than their counterparts
in larger companies.
Support, from pre-course meetings to
applying new knowledge post-course,
seems to be the key to success
The fact that satisfaction rates among UK employees are
higher than elsewhere seems to stem from the interaction
of various factors: employees have a lot of freedom when it
comes to training, their managers are very involved, and
they use a wide variety of training options.
The process to access training is
particularly suited to employees with
academic qualifications and to
managers
Employees with higher academic qualifications and
management positions take more initiative, discuss
training options at more length… and appreciate the
professional training system as it is today..
Training approaches using new
technology and social media are
thriving, even in France
France still has the least variety but this has evolved
considerably over the past few years.
Mobile learning and serious games have grown
significantly over the past three years in the five countries
we surveyed.
Learning methods using social media cover all training
levels and all job categories.

  • 29. 29 The key lessons this year A French – and Spanish – dissatisfaction with training This, however, does not mean they are dissatisfied with the training courses themselves. This seems to go hand-in-hand with the feeling that the company in general and managers in particular are not providing enough support. Generally speaking, employees in small and medium- sized businesses are happier with their training and professional skill building projects than their counterparts in larger companies. Support, from pre-course meetings to applying new knowledge post-course, seems to be the key to success The fact that satisfaction rates among UK employees are higher than elsewhere seems to stem from the interaction of various factors: employees have a lot of freedom when it comes to training, their managers are very involved, and they use a wide variety of training options. The process to access training is particularly suited to employees with academic qualifications and to managers Employees with higher academic qualifications and management positions take more initiative, discuss training options at more length… and appreciate the professional training system as it is today.. Training approaches using new technology and social media are thriving, even in France France still has the least variety but this has evolved considerably over the past few years. Mobile learning and serious games have grown significantly over the past three years in the five countries we surveyed.
