Net Impact Bristol is launching a new professional chapter in Bristol, UK. Rotaract Talk: Mentoring for Rotaract (#Rotaract15)
Sayedul Hassan presented on developing an effective mentoring culture in Rotaract clubs at the 2015 Rotary International Convention. The presentation outlined the benefits of mentoring, including increased retention, learning, and self-confidence. It proposed a six-step process to create a mentoring program, including understanding needs, matching mentors and mentees, designing the program, marketing it internally, training mentors, and emphasizing values-based interactions. The goal of the mentoring culture is to develop club members both personally and professionally through beneficial partnerships between individuals.

We are in Egypt to gain experience through networking and improving our skills at IEEE events. The Jordanian Engineering Day (JED) aims to address problems in the community like redundant student projects and gaps between education and industry needs. JED hopes to reduce these issues by bringing together academia and industry, improving student project quality, engaging more people with technology, and enhancing student skills. JED is tentatively planned for the third quarter of 2016.

New report offers sobering view of the energy transition
Every year the Statistical Review of World Energy offers a behemoth of data on the state of the global energy market. This year’s findings highlight the world’s insatiable demand for energy and the need to speed up the pace of decarbonisation.
Here are our four main takeaways from this year’s report:
Fossil fuel consumption — and emissions — are at record highs
Countries burnt record amounts of oil and coal last year, sending global fossil fuel consumption and emissions to all-time highs, the Energy Institute reported. Oil demand grew 2.6 per cent, surpassing 100mn barrels per day for the first time.
Meanwhile, the share of fossil fuels in the energy mix declined slightly by half a percentage point, but still made up more than 81 per cent of consumption.
