INTRODUCTION
Technology is a tool, a way for fact-based learning and
allows students to do a lot of the research using the
internet and various tools. And at the same time
these students are learning very valuable research
skills which they can transplant at high levels of
education, at universities and beyond.
DISCUSSION
Functions of educational technology
Educational technology aims to for the
improvement of teaching-learning process.
This can be achieved through the following
ways:
• Increase in the students ‘quality of
learning
• Decrease in the time spent in learning
• Increase in the efficiency of teachers in
the classroom.
• Decrease in educational costs without
sacrificing educational quality

1. Size
– Is the material test or picture big enough to be seen
by the farthest student?
2. Colour
– Is the material colourful? Does it facilitate
understanding?

– Can it be used over and over again?

–Is the material worth its cost?
5. Easy to handle
–Is it light and easy to manipulate? Is it
easy to use and keep for the future?
6. Relevance
–Is the material up to date? Is it related to
the lesson?

–Does the material possess and element of
newness? Can it arouse the curiosity of the
learners?

Roles of Instructional Media in the
Teaching-Learning Process
Properly designed instructional media can enhance and promote
learning and support teacher-based instruction
Media can be used effectively in formal education situations where
a teacher is not available or is working with other students.
Media play an important role in the education of students with
exceptionalities and disabilities.
Major attributes
that media possess
Can create learning situations that can’t otherwise be
accomplished like bringing past, current, and distant
events in the classroom.
Can be used to present information in various ways which
best meet particular learning objectives.
Make learning more effective by increasing the realism,
dynamics, and attitudinal impact.
