Conscious of the situation, African leaders developed the Comprehensive Africa Agriculture Development Program (CAADP) as the NEPAD framework for the revitalization of the agriculture sector and initiative to accelerate growth and, eliminate poverty among African countries.

4. Introduction The overall role of NEPAD is : to energize and catalyze the CAADP process to play an advocacy role in generating and sustaining the interests of national governments and the international development community to support this new African agenda.
