The purpose of employee development
is to help employees enhance and expand their skill
set over time, and remain up-to-date on
developments in their professional areas of expertise.
Employees who do not utilize an accessible and
willing resource do a great disservice to themselves as
well as the organization at large.
It bears reminding that the Human Resources
department serves as the face of the company, and as
such, must become familiar with each member of the
organization’s employee population.
PERSONALIZE
TRAINING PROFILES.
are personalized to the specific skill requirements of
each employee. Consequently, getting to know
individual employees on a more personal level, though
often time-consuming, allows Human Resources to
customize the training programs necessary for
employees to reach their highest potential.
Additionally, this process helps to facilitate a more
meaningful organic and authentic relationship
between HR and the employee population at large.
Remember that utilizing a one-size-fits-all training
solution for all employees is not pragmatic or
effective. Therefore, establishing and maintaining a
training profile on each individual employee can help
HR determine the most appropriate method to
accelerate employee learning and development. 
The most effective training initiatives
By grouping people with similar
training needs and job duties
categorically.
Next, consider the goals discussed with each employee
during their most recent performance evaluation. If an
employee has expressed interest in assuming new or
additional responsibilities requiring enhanced training,
remember to add this training to the individual training
profile as well. Review the profile with the employee’s
manager and solicit any further input. House the
finalized version of the profile in the HR training files,
separately from the employee personnel file.

will be more educated and enthusiastic about their work. Having employees
that feel this way will create a better environment full of motivated, eager
workers.
