     Expositional Sermon

By; Pastor Juanito D; Samillano Jr.
Holy Week Sermon at IBCP GREDU
                Panabo, City.
Text; John 20;1-9
1 Now on the first day of the week Mary
Magdalene went to the tomb early, while it
was still dark, and saw that the stone had
been taken away from the tomb. 2 Then she
ran and came to Simon Peter, and to the
other disciple, whom Jesus loved, and said
to them, “They have taken away the Lord out
of the tomb, and we do not know where they
have laid Him.” 3 Peter therefore went out,
and the other disciple, and were going to the
tomb. 4 So they both ran together, and the
other disciple outran Peter and came to the
  tomb first.
5 And he, stooping down and looking in,
saw the linen cloths lying there; yet he did
not go in. 6 Then Simon Peter came,
following him, and went into the tomb; and
he saw the linen cloths lying there, 7 and the
handkerchief that had been around His
head, not lying with the linen cloths, but
folded together in a place by itself. 8 Then
the other disciple, who came to the tomb
first, went in also; and he saw and
believed. 9 For as yet they did not know the
Scripture, that He must rise again from the
dead.10 Then the disciples went away again
to their own homes.

Christ Resurrection was Happened on
the first day of the week.
What is the first day of the week?
Matthew 28:1 NASV
1 Now after the Sabbath, as it began
to dawn toward the first day of
  the week, Mary Magdalene and
the other Mary came to look at
  the grave
                        Sunday
Why Jesus was raised on the first day of the
                      week (Sunday)?
We will know the deepest reason, by looking back on the
 history of the human life?
Genesis 2;20 And Adam gave names to all cattle, and to
the fowl of the air, and to every beast of the field; but
for Adam there was not found an help meet for
him.21 And the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall
upon Adam, and he slept: and He took one of his ribs,
and closed up the flesh instead thereof; 22 And the
rib, which the Lord God had taken from man, made he
a woman, and brought her unto the man. 23 And
Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh
of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she
was taken out of Man. 24 Therefore shall a man leave
his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his
wife: and they shall be one flesh. Both man and God
                                      was working (6 Day)
Genesis 2; 2 And on the seventh day
God ended his work which he had
made; and He rested on the seventh
day from all his work which he had
 made.
Genesis 3; 8 And they heard the voice
of The Lord God walking in the garden
in the cool of the day: and Adam and
his wife hid themselves from the
presence of the Lord God amongst the
trees of the garden. God was walking,
part of his rest (7th Day)
Observation from the above text
I; on the Sabbath day Adam and Eve was
   fall into temptation.
II; the Holiness or purity of the Sabbath day
was ruined by dis-obedience and sin.
Recreation is needed to restore the purity
   (holiness) of the Sabbath Day.
Jesus was risen on the first day of the week
to restore the Sabbath day through
recreation, not ruined by disobedience nor
Adamic sin but of pure Joy and Hope that
we are serving the true and Living God.
What are the lessons we can get from the
            disciples reaction?
Mary pass the information to the
other Disciples- this signifies to us
that we must tell the rest of the
 disciples the correct information about
 the resurrection of Christ (observe
what Mary said to the disciples?)
The Disciples run toward the tomb-
they exert an effort to go where Jesus
was Resurrected, we should do they
 same.
The stone that was on the gate of
        the tomb rolled away.
These speaks to us
A; The power of God prevail through the
 resurrection of Christ
B; We have now an open access before
God, the gap was taken away.
C; We must trust the living God that He
will take away the hindrances of our
 service before Him.
