The respiratory system takes oxygen into the body and removes carbon dioxide. It includes the larynx or voice box, trachea or windpipe, lungs, bronchi, bronchioles, and alveoli. The diaphragm works with the lungs by pulling down to allow the lungs to expand and take in air, then relaxing to push air back out.
