The Pros And Cons Of Computer OS Vs. Mac OS
School and University systems provide their students and employees with a mix of the computers
that run either the Mac OS or the Windows OS. Recently, the security attacks on Windows OS have
increased and the number of systems that are affected worldwide is only increasing every year. It is
high time that the Universities and Schools start shifting to Mac OS. This article suggests the school
systems to shift to Mac OS by presenting the operating systems, security attacks on the systems and
their effects, the statistics of the security attacks on Mac OS vs Windows, the strengths of Mac OS,
and the advantages of shifting to Mac OS. There are a wide variety of operating systems that are
available to run on the computers. All of them have their own set of advantages and drawbacks. But,
Windows OS and the Mac OS are the most used operating systems worldwide. Since the
introduction of Windows OS and Mac OS in the early 1980s, hereby referred as Windows and Mac
respectively, the users of those operating systems have formed into two devout clans which support
those systems no matter what. Users of one system oppose the other system vehemently. Nearly 1
billion people are reported to be using Windows whereas Mac is used by 100 million people making
it the second most used operating system. Every operating system has an inherent operating system
security which protects the computer, the system itself, and the user of the computer by ensuring the
integrity, confidentiality, and

Fleetwood Mac's Life Story Fleetwood Mac was one of the most successful bands ever but with
many of tragedies. Those tragedies resulted in many big stops in their music career that could have
led them to even more success. Fleetwood Mac had many different rock and roll artists to inspire
them and different kind of music. They had many of people that came in out of the band at the
beginning, but these people came up with the band name. Even though they have had many changes
and tragedies, Fleetwood Mac earned many awards and achievements to be one of the best success
stories in the music industry. Through different inspirations Fleetwood Mac formed the band and
came up with the band name. Fleetwood Mac was formed by a blues artist that was really famous in
the 1960s named Peter Green. Fleetwood Mac was inspired also by rock and roll and old blues.

Windows XP vs. Mac OS X Architecture
When looking at the interface of the Mac OS X Operating System and the Microsoft Windows XP
operating system many similarities can be seen. The most obvious is the use of blue in the interface.
In the core of the systems they both have a micro kernel which addresses thread management, space
management and other communications at the system level and is more resistant to attacks from a
virus.
Mac OS X is a powerful development platform; it supports multiple development technologies like
UNIX, Java, Cocoa and Carbon. It also is host to many open source, web, scripting, database and
development technologies. It was build around the integrated stack of graphics and media
technologies such as QuickTime, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Among the Aqua user interface, Apple also built in Pre–emptive multitasking and memory
protection to improve the ability of the operating system to run multiple applications simultaneously
without interrupting or corrupting each other. The system can also determine how much RAM
should be used for each running application and it can also determine how much of the processor
needs to be devoted to the running applications. For example if a picture is being rendered in
Photoshop in the background and a user is surfing the web in the foreground, the system will
automatically put more of the processors power to the Photoshop application to get the requested
job done.
Apple also wants as many developers as it can get for the Operating System; therefore they have
created development tools that are included with every copy of the system. One of the most notable
programs that is included is called Xcode. Xcode provides interfaces to compilers that support
several programming languages such as C, C++ and Java. Because Apple is also in a transition from
the PowerPC RISC processor to the Intel X86 processor the Xcode application can compile code for
either or both processors, making the compiled application a Universal Binary application.
Windows XP has a microkernel that sits between the Hardware Abstraction Layer and the executive,
it provides multiprocessor synchronization, thread and interrupt scheduling and

There are many different types of computers, many different software programs. Computers have a
wide variety of uses, entertainment and work are just a few of them. In order for a computer to
function properly and to use any of the work or entertainment software, a computer needs an
operating system. The main operating systems are Windows and Macintosh, both have their benefits
and both have their disadvantages. Many people use Mac for editing videos. Linux is used for
coding. Windows is used things like browsing the internet or playing games. There is a very intense
debate as to which operating system is the best. Many say Mac for its user friendly software. Some
say Linux, for its extreme customizability. The vast majority of people side ... Show more content

There are built computers that are called Hackintosh that have bought parts that have a Mac
operating system downloaded on to it. There is an advantage to building a Windows machine, one of
which being the possible upgradability in the future. It is possible to get new parts and to upgrade
the entire machine to get better performance and speeds. Many gamers opt to use windows
machines for gaming, for the better performance versus Mac machines. There are many parts for
PC's that are oriented towards gamers, and are engineered for gaming. Mac's aren't not used
primarily gaming and Windows machines beat them in this aspect.
The third operating system that is widely used is Linux, it is also the only operating system that is
free out of the three. There is a lot of freedom that comes with using Linux since it is easily installed
and distributed. Linux is also much more stable than Windows as it does not have sort of "blue
screen of death" that is associated with Windows. Due to it also being least used out of the three it is
less prone to malware and spyware since most are designed to function on a windows computer due
to them being more widely spread than any

Comparison of Mac Vs. PC Essay
"Hello I'm a Mac, and I'm a PC" (Wikipedia). Many people who watch television or online videos
might come across the "Get a Mac" advertisement campaign launched by Apple Inc. personifying
the more youthful Justin Long as the cool, hip Mac system and the older, more seasoned John
Hodgman as the PC. The "Get a Mac" commercial series depicts the efficiency and user friendliness
of Mac while comparing it to the problematic PC. Though the commercial series might seem
convincing in favor of the Mac products, the commercial would obviously hide the flaws of the
Macs. The actually masks the fact that PC comes out on top at the end of the day with great
efficiency, the ability to do a diverse range of work, and its user–friendliness. But now ... Show

Let us start with the hardware. Building a computer is not easy because finding compatible
components is important but once the computer is built, analyzing the key components is pretty
simple. Personally, I have a self–built PC which runs top of the line components that is more
advanced and affordable than that of an Mac hardware. In the case of a Mac computer, the hardware
is integrated which makes keeping up with the latest components such as better CPUs, and graphics
card unavailable. Furthermore, in Intel's PC vs. Mac article (Intel makes components for both Mac
and PC), Intel states, "Apple's range of product is narrower than that of PCs" even though the Mac
system "can be robustly outfitted" (which means add in more gadgets such as web cams and
microphones )(Intel). Though the Macs already have web cams and microphones on the system, PC
users can surpass these tools and gadgets with even better high definition cameras and studio quality
microphones with one quick install. Having said that, it is crystal clear that PC computers have the
edge when it comes to computer components because of the PC's ability to upgrade its hardware
consistently to make performance more efficient which is a necessity that the Mac computers do not
provide in the constantly advancing technological world. In conjunction with computer hardware,
the importance of a user–friendly operating system and it's ability to perform an diverse range of

When shopping for a new computer in today's day and age there are, for the most part, two different
options available for purchase, a Mac, or a P.C. Macs and PCs have many similarities as well as
differences. However, these two competitors are of different leagues and are generally used for
different things. When looking to buy a new computer, the customer should generally take into
consideration what they plan on using it for and their price range. These two differences are what set
Macs and PCs apart from one another and determine who purchases them. PCs and Macs share two
main commonalities, the fact that they are both computers and they come in both laptop and desktop
varieties. Macs generally come in one of two forms, (excluding macbooks) ... Show more content on

Apple is often criticized for the price of Macs being so much higher than that of PCs with similar
processing power. The prices of Macs (depending on which one is purchased) at their base models,
can vary anywhere from $1099 to $3000 (Apple). This number only increases when the Mac is
upgraded from the base model. PCs however can often be found for much cheaper than a Mac,
whether they come pre–assembled, or are built by the user. The problem with Macs is that there is
often a small difference in price for a powerful PC vs a low–end Mac. In addition, the costs for
products that accommodate these two companies vary proportionally to the cost of the computers
themselves. For example, the average Mac keyboard may cost 3 times more than the average P.C.
counterpart. Similarly, replacing a P.C. monitor may cost far less than replacing a monitor for a
Mac. Cost is the most common factor in the Mac vs. P.C. debate. The newest Mac costs
considerably more than a comparable P.C. that will come with much more potential software and
upgrade paths for the future. There are also many different companies that sell PCs, such as HP,
Acer, Asus, Dell, and MSI. Macs however are limited to being sold by Apple, meaning that the price

My, Go Your Own Way By Fleetwood Mac
Music is indubitably a formidable force. It has the capability to shape an individual's perspective on
the world. My father is a music aficionado, and the predominant reason I was acquainted with the
paradise of music. I used to stare at his gargantuan wall of CDs for hours marveling at the unique
splendor of each album cover. Only a select few songs out of the millions on that wall were
magnificent enough to change my life. Once in a blue moon, I stumble upon a song that is so
profound and liberating, it captivates me as I listen and brings new insights to my life. One song,
which reached immediate success upon its release in 1977, would later change my life. Listening to
the song I am so fervent about, "Go Your Own Way" by Fleetwood Mac, helped me to develop my
musical taste through its eloquent lyrics, an upbeat melody, and the passionate performance of the
song.
There is no doubt that song lyrics possess the potential to be powerful. The meaning of the lyrics
can be used in any way the listener feels it applies. The underlying meaning to a song often
determines if I will listen to it or not. Words such as "lonely" and "change" are repeatedly used in
"Go Your Own Way". Change and loneliness are arduous for many people, myself included, and
listening to this song alleviates the pain of heartbreak. Many people experience this pain but cannot
put it into words. Fleetwood Mac, however, successfully accomplished this. This song helped me to
get through some tough times, and it

Mac vs. PC: The Debate and the Dilemma Essay
Mac vs. PC: The Debate and the Dilemma
Background of the Debate
The debate between whether to buy Macintosh or buy a PC has been ongoing since Microsoft first
introduced Microsoft Windows in November 1984. Apple Macintosh had developed its first
personal computer, mouse and graphical user interface (GUI) in January of 1984. The debate has
grown and has been the subject of many articles and even is the main high light of various websites.
This frequently heated debate has even been compared to the Pepsi vs. Coke debate (Derene, 2009).
While the rhetoric has continued the differences between these products has actually lessened,
making it possible for some applications to be shared. Even the ... Show more content on

Development in both products has challenged both of these stereotypes. Most literature that is not
published by the computer companies, now identify the similarities and focus less on the
differences. They no longer propose that if you have a PC at work you should be consistent with
what you have at home. The main differences are preferences and style. The research on the
personality traits of Mac vs. PC users even show a blending and less division than in the past (Ford,
2009). There are some other differences in the Apple Mac and PCs that should be considered when
discussing which machines are better for schools to purchase.
Educational Setting The use of Apple Macintosh in schools is predominantly all that I know and I
knew little of personal computer use prior to ten years ago. Our middle class, suburban school
district of over 4000 students, use to pride itself with keeping up with the technology with its more
affluent neighbors to the east and the south. Changes in the economy have limited the purchase of
new computers to 1.) Those bought for the new school in the district three years ago, 2.) Replacing
the 10–year–old computers in the media center in the 5th –6th grade building and the 7th –8th grade
building, 3.) 1:1 laptop initiative for the 180 +certified teachers last year and 4.) The replacement of
computers used by secretaries and administrators. There were old PC's in each of the six older
buildings but as they have

Essay about I Was a Mac Evangelist
He was dressed professionally, wearing a suit, tie, and dark black overcoat. His glasses falsely
spelled "nerd." He was short, or at least shorter than I. I'd say he was in his late thirties, but who
knows? I returned to playing Minecraft, a video game released the previous year. Then, out of the
corner of my eye, I saw the man approach me.
He walked straight for me, no doubt about it. I tried to act calmly but couldn't restrain my heart's
rapid beating. I wiped a bead of sweat from my forehead, glanced to my left flank. Is he coming to
speak with me? I wondered. He had to be. I prepped myself mentally for what he would say. Time

Then I transformed into the Mac Evangelist. I felt my muscles bulge and my body rise to full height.
Clad in a black suit with a rainbow cape, I was off to save a lost soul!
Then I blanked. Where should I start? Apple's beginnings, in Steve Jones' garage? Or John Wright's
resignation from Pepsi–Cola to join Apple? Or, perhaps, the Macintosh project? Then again, the
release of System 7 was another good issue. Of course, I could go for an Upton Sinclair–style
muckraking speech, portraying the values and integrity of Apple versus the corruption of the
"Wintel" demons. I then realized that the lost sheep was waiting.
"I definitely think Macs are better than PCs. They've got superior hardware, just–as–good or better
software, and are far more reliable. I've used Macs for eight years and have always been happy with
Apple." I paused, preparing "convert–a–PC–user" arguments. I dreamed of the masses packed into
the Apple section of CompUSA, listening to me spread the good news. I envisioned Steve Jobs
commending me at MacWorld–New York for my efforts and converting thousands of PC users to
the light side of the Force. Then I returned to my sermon. "Macs have consistently been faster, more
reliable, stronger, easier to use, and cooler than PCs. For instance, the processor in this Mac (I

Best Ways to Keep Your Mac Fast and Clean
Macs are the slick computers that can run smoothly for years if you follow the ways to keep it fast
and clean. Otherwise, it will slow down; have the bugs issues and other technical problems. So keep
the machine safe and healthy by following the below–mentioned ways.
1. Back up the data frequently
Mac has crash problems which can result in losing the important data and put you at the risk. Thus,
time to time you should back up the data every week in order to prevent the loss of the data which
you cannot salvage from other sources. There are many ways to take the backup. First, one is taking
the backup through the full–time machine and keeping the data on the hard drive which can be

You should have at least 10% of the disk space to spare it. For instance, if you have 800 GB hard
drive then you should have a minimum of 80 GB space for the better performance of the Mac. But
for the people who have a lot of data, then taking the regular backup is essential in the external drive
on the timely basis.
5. Run the Disk Utility
There is Disk Utility in every Mac in the utility folder of the applications folder. There are two
important roles of the Disk Utilities. First is the repairing the used disk permissions which are
available when you open it from the utility folder. The second function is using the repairing disks
which can easily be done holding the command and R keys. This is a vital way to handle the corrupt
files or repairing the files.
6. Keep the Desktop Clean
It is necessary to avoid the clutters to boost the performance of the Mac. Users keep the folders and
files on the desktop due to which Mac slows down. So it is important to keep the applications and
other files into respective folders to improve the speed of the Mac. This is the most important way
on how to clean your Mac computer to boost the speed.
7. Update Software
Updating software is crucial for fast running of the OS and the current version of the Mac can
handle the vulnerabilities and fix the bugs. There are usually alerts to update when the software
needs to be updated in the form of third–party apps. When the Mac is always the latest version then
issues get fixed

Many people wonder what operating system may fit their needs.
92 percent of computer users have a Windows–based laptop or desktop. Only 5 percent of laptop or
desktop computer owners use a Mac and the other 3 percent use the not–well–know Linux operating
system. I will cover the stability, user friendliness, and how customizable the Windows operating
system is compared to that of Macintosh. Many will find that Macs are much more expensive than
PCs, although many disagree. Some people just prefer Mac over PC, but I will show you some
advantages of Windows and some disadvantages of Mac OS.
Beginning with the stability of the Windows operating system, I personally have to say that it has
greatly improved over the years. When the first stable version of Windows was released, it was
extremely buggy. It had issues regarding the software specifics and it is basically remembered as a
gimmick. Macintosh also had its rough beginnings, but it has moderately improved over the years.
Macintosh's first stable release was System 0.8.5. This version was very basic and was used for
work purposes. It really had no multimedia support such as audio or video, but it did have image

was Windows 7. Windows Vista was not taken very well by anybody, but soon after that was
released, Windows 7 was introduced....it was a great improvement to say the least. When Windows
8 was released, Windows 8.1 was forcibly introduced due to the fact that Windows 8 used a "metro

advantage of it. Over time, Windows has had some reputable releases, but some seem to have

When you hear the word computer, the first word that comes to mind would most likely be PC. Mac
is also a computer, so why won't anyone think of Mac? An ordinary person might think that a PC
can refer to any computer which is why he/she might not think of Mac. Unfortunately, that is not
true. What does it refer to? PC is a shorthand way of saying any computer that runs on Windows.
That is why Macs can't be in the category of PCs. There are many more comparable and
contrastable features of a Mac and a PC, such as: Where it is made, its software, and its
conveniences. Only one company makes Macs (or Macintosh), and that is Apple. Macs run on OS X

Macs have downloadable games so it is easy for gamers to get access to their favorite games easily.
Apple supports Safari as an application for surfing the web easily for videos or other media as
entertainment. PCs are made for people that want to use it for school – business purposes, the
complete opposite of Macs. Files can also be put into folders so that they wouldn't be lost with the
possibly important work information in them. Computers that use Windows have PDF viewers that
are pre–installed because many school handouts or work handouts may be PDFs that can only be
seen online. Since PCs are not made for entertainment, games are hardly ever played, so there isn't a
very convenient way of playing games. Instead of having to be bought from a virtual store like a
Mac, PCs need a specific disc for a specific game to be able to be played. As you can see, Macs and
PCs differ and are alike in many different ways, such as: Its manufacturer, its software, and its
conveniences. Computers aren't actually all that similar. I hope that after you read this essay, you
will think of PCs and Macs differently. When the word computer comes to mind again, consider the

Mac Os X And Windows Operating System
The advent of the Mac OS X and Windows Operating System, have revolutionized how we interact
with computers. They have enormously increased our productivity in the work place, improved our
efficiency, as well as accurately predicting the future of technology and the potential of innovation.
Choosing one over the other, is chiefly a matter of personal preference. Although, fans and users
alike, tend to share sentimental opinions on why one is better than the other. Their distinct qualities,
make it easier to compare and contrast their features, in order to succinctly make a final decision;
whether to buy a Mac OS X or a Windows 8.1. Frankly, these two operating systems have more in
common than they do in difference. Each has its own set of pros and cons, but they share many of
the core features that define a desktop operating system in a modern era. However, the Windows
operating system, is better than the Mac OS X because it is more affordable, it supports cross
platform integration, and is easier to use with reliable security. Affordability, is one of the major
reasons why I prefer the Microsoft Windows Operating system to the branded Mac OS X. Windows
8.1 is budget friendly, while the Mac costs almost twice the price of a single Windows computer.
Windows is affordable to students, you can actually get the latest Windows 8.1 (Pro version) for as

practically undeniable whenever it comes to work, entertainment or education. There is a never

Usually cheaper in the long run:
Mac pros are generally cheaper in the long run. Original cost of ownership needs to be calculated

Admittedly, Macs were in the market first, and initially were much better than PCs. But it's time to
realize the future of home computing: the PC. Although Macs are not completely useless, PCs
dominate the world of computers with a better user interface, cheaper price, and better internal
workings. These advantages far outweigh any little extra features that a Mac might have.
First of all, PCs have a better user interface. While Mac users have always boasted of having a
computer with a clean, modern look, this changed with Windows Vista, released on January 30,
2007. Windows Vista has translucent window bars, a search bar on the start menu, and tabs on the
bottom of the screen, as well as introducing a feature in which users can scroll ... Show more

Another factor to ponder is that PCs have more RAM, or random access memory. RAM is memory
that programs that are running use actively. Less RAM means programs run slower, so having more
RAM is definitely a plus. Windows launches applications faster than Macs, and Windows is far
better at 3–D rendering (required for most modern games) (itok.net).
Compatibility is definitely a major issue. PC's are compatible with Xbox 360, the top selling console
of 2011 (winrumors.com), Linux, and Windows 7 has something called XP mode. XP mode allows
the PC user to run Windows XP on their Windows 7. PCs are also more compatible with TVs/big
screens, because most Macs require an adapter (www.itok.net). Another topic to think about is the

The Security Behind Mac Osx Essay
The Security Behind Mac OSX:
Why Apple, Inc Doesn't Worry About Viruses
Matthew Long
As many have heard, Macintosh Computers, and more in general Apple Inc., is beginning to really
take flight in consumer households. The overwhelming numbers of available viruses to Windows
computers, phones, and Android devices surpasses the millions. In fact, in April of 2012, Symantec
released a report noting its latest Virus definitions file that contained 17,702,868 separate signatures
(Bott). This number seems quite ridiculous regarding the amount of viruses available. However, the
same report given by Symantec 8 days earlier only reported 17,595,922 virus definitions, meaning
that 106,946 definitions were ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Usually if a virus infects a computer, the best thing to do is to save all data externally, wipe out and
re–install the operating system, download an antivirus along with all other security updates, then
move the data back and pray that it catches any piggy backed viruses. This is the reason companies
such as Symantec and McAffee are able to make millions of dollars every year offering security
software. Subsequently not only do users have to pay yearly for anti–virus software, but often times
have to pay upwards of hundreds of dollars to have their computer wiped clean of any viral
software. Perhaps Apple Inc has a better solution to offer.
Mac computers aren't plagued by the millions of viruses that affect PCs. This translates into much
less downtime for consumers and businesses, and a lot less costs in the long run. There are three
major functions of the Macintosh operating system that have been well thought out and put in to
place to keep threats out. These three features include sandboxing, ASLR or address space layout
randomization, and FileVault.
Sandboxing refers to the restrictions that UNIX (the multilayered platform that MAC OSX is built
on) has on actions that programs can

Mac Os Classic Has Its Shortcomings Essay
Since the first Macintosh operating system, System 1, back in 1984 there has been 15 major
versions issued. System 1 was the beginning point of the GUI based systems made available to the
market. No longer relying on the text command line, it relied on the user manipulation of the GUI
and mouse. However, the Mac OS Classic had its shortcomings. According to Jonathan Levin
(2012), "Memory management was poor, however, and multitasking was cooperative, which–by
today's standards––is considered primitive. Cooperative multitasking involves process voluntarily
yielding their CPU timeslice, and works reasonably well when processes are well behaved" (p. 3,4).
This wasn't always the case and any process malfunction would shut down the system. System 3,
released in 1986 introduced File System Hierarchy, storing files in a tree like directory that is
currently common on all operating systems today. It also was the first system to have Disk Cache
that kept regularly used commands in the memory that sped up operations. There were several
minor versions in between System 3 until System 7. System 7 was released in 1991 and it made use
of a hard drive instead of a floppy disk that was too limited in size. It also had virtual memory that
used free space on the hard drive as random access memory (RAM). Mac OS 7.6, released in 1997,
was the first version to use the "Mac OS" instead of "System" in it naming scheme. Mac OS 7.6 and
Mac OS 8.0 released also in 1997, where very

Fannie Mae And Freddie Mac
1. During the great depression in 1934 many people didn't have jobs. Not having jobs meant that it
would be awfully hard for them to obtain a loan from banks in order to purchase homes. The
government decided to help the American people by creating the Federal Housing Administration
(FHA) which basically stepped in and allowed banks to offer mortgages to more people with the
promise that the banks would get their money back. The FHA finances itself with insurance
premiums that they charge borrowers as well as interest that they receive on reserves. They use
these funds to underwrite more loans which helps out people with their mortgages.
Two other government–sponsored enterprises are Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. They were built by
congress to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In my opinion, the government should take a step back and not be involved in the USA housing
market any longer. The reason behind my thinking has to do with the new president we have in the
White House. President has come out and said that he has a new tax reform plan that's supposed to
have significant changes not only to personal taxes but corporate taxes as well. Trump has said that
he wants to lower the corporate tax rate from the current 35% to 20, maybe even 15% which is great
news for corporations but not so great when it comes to Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. The reason
that this would be bad for these enterprises is because they are under conservatorship and cutting the
corporate tax rate would force these enterprises to once again need a bailout. Being under
conservatorship means that for every quarter Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac make a profit, they have
to pay dividends to the department of treasury and at the same time they aren't allowed to rebuild
capital but instead their capital base is diminished as time passes which means that in 2018 they will
have not one penny remaining in their capital reserves. Furthermore, lower corporate tax rates mean
that Fannie Mac and Freddie Mac will have "significant deferred tax asset write–downs...which, in
turn, could lead to the GSE's need an additional draw from the Treasury to cover tax–related losses"
(Housingwire). To reiterate my point once again, I believe that the government shouldn't continue its
involvement in the

Rumours, by Fleetwood Mac Essay
In 1977, when Fleetwood Mac released their multi–platinum album Rumours, I was 4 years old and
far too young to appreciate music. As I entered my mid–20s, I had acquired a passion for music of
the 1970s and fell in love with the Eagles, Rush, Led Zeppelin, but most importantly, Fleetwood
Mac. Their music had become a part of me. It had developed into my personal therapeutic outlet and
helped to keep me sane during any emotional upheaval that I might have been experiencing. It was
then that I realized that the passionate, heartfelt music of Fleetwood Mac captured the very being of
my soul and I became entranced. At any point of the day, whether at home or driving in my car, you

There was not a single song on the album that did not come to life and cause all of us to relate to
every emotion within their songs. When listening to "Go Your Own Way" one hears the lyrics,
"Loving you isn't the right thing to do. / How can I ever change things that I feel? / If I could baby
I'd give you my world. / How can I when you won't take it from me? / You can go your own way, go
your own way." These lyrics capture your soul. They speak of the pain that accompanies the demise
of a relationship. On the other hand, "Don't Stop" provokes feelings of hope and optimism instead of
wallowing in the past. The entire playlist of Rumors causes lovers to reflect upon their own past
heartbreak and relate. The album's ability to make that kind impression on a person's heart makes it
phenomenal. We all desire to be able to relate to others and to feel understood. Once we make that
connection, it remains with us always.
Moreover, according to the Recording Industry Association of America, Rumours was certified
platinum in America and in the UK within months of its release ("RIAA: Gold & Platinum").
Furthermore, the album spent 31 weeks on top of the Billboard charts and won the Grammy award
"Album of the Year" in 1978 ("Christgau, Robert. Christgau's Record Guide") ("Grammy Rewind").
Additionally, as of this year, it is the 10th best–selling album in US History ("Diamond Awards.

Mac: The Biggest Threats To Mac
How much in jeopardy are we? Mac
What are the biggest threats to Mac .
The biggest threats with the Mac is currently Malware and Adware, "the Mac OS X does not

As with Malware, there are two different kinds of malware that can threaten a Mac. The first is the

Mac Os : The Top Three Operating Systems Ever Created
Caleb Schumake Professor Johnson CSC 3030 November 22, 2014 History of Mac OS Apple's Mac
OS is one of the top three operating systems ever created. Mac OS is a series of GUI based
operating systems created by Apple Inc. to work seamlessly with the hardware of their Macintosh
computer systems. The first operating system introduced for Apple computers was Apple DOS 3.1
in 1978. It was primarily developed by Paul Laughton, Randy Wigginton and Steve Wozniak.
Spanning the next three decades Apple would revolutionize the software industry by popularizing
the intuitive, rich and simplistic feel of their operating system while harnessing its sheer power. This
process was not a simple task; during new developments of Mac OS many disputes and ... Show

The Apple II was an integrated computer with its own keyboard, case and was the first to display
color graphics. Many revisions to the Apple II were made, each boasting a newer operating system.
After the release of the Apple II many realized that a disk drive was imperative for a computer thus,
Steve Wozniak created an elegant solution for a floppy disk drive. He coined it as the disk II, this
gave birth to the need of a disk operating system within Apple (Singh 7). Apples first version of its
disk operating system was released as Apple DOS 3.1 in July 1978. In subsequent years Apple
created more diverse operating systems to fit user needs. When the Apple III was introduced in 1980
as a computer for business users it used a new operating system called SOS (Sophisticated operating
system). The new operating system featured resources available in the form of a menu–driven utility
program as well as programming API. These new additions gave the system the first feel of a true
"user experience". Apples next improvement to their operating system would be the release of Apple
ProDos. ProDos was released in October 1983 and was based on SOS. ProDos provided
programmers with far more flexibility than prior systems such as better facilities for coding in
BASIC, assembly language, machine language, and better interrupt handling (Singh 12). With
growing competition in the software industry Apple needed to think

Fleetwood Mac 's Rumours ( 1977 )
Fleetwood Mac's Rumours (1977)
The birth of the legendary British rock band, Fleetwood Mac, goes as far back to 1967 when their
musical origins first sprouted. The idea behind the band's name was pretty simple; "Fleetwood Mac"
is the conjunction of two singers' names, Mick Fleetwood and John McVie. Soon after the band's
establishment their popularity gradually grew in Britain. Fleetwood Mac's quick popularity made
their future success foreseeable. Without a surprise, their first debut album made it to Britain's top
charts for thirteen months straight (RollingStone.com). However, the band's biggest success was
emphasized by Rumours in 1977. Fleetwood Mac's Rumours exemplify use of important production

Commercially speaking, album sells have not stopped and have instead steadily increased. In
present years, such as "by 2000, Fleetwood Mac had sold more than 100 million copies of its album
– including 25 million [copies] for Rumours alone – making it one of the most popular rock bands
in history" (Landslidetribute.com). It is currently still the sixth best–selling album with about 40
million copies sold.
Influences such as pop music also helped to shape Rumours as a whole. Such music influence was
that of "Alt–rock–era embraced via Billy Corgan and Courtney Love, [to the] harmonies and Cho
ogling of Bonnie "Prince" Billy and earthier ends of the Beach House" (pitchfork.com). When folks
first heard the album they became captivated and inspired by it. Ken Caillat also brought Rumours
to the surface as he took lead in co–engineering the album. He provided long hours of labor and
experimented with the album's style and vibes. He assisted in such way that he transferred previous
drum tracks that would later be used in the master album track.
"In retrospect, it 's a miracle that we were able to finish 'Rumours, ' " Ken Caillat said. "But later, I
came to understand that 'Rumours ' probably succeeded because it was brilliant group therapy. ... It
's horrible that if it hadn 't been for all of the relationship turmoil in the band, you wouldn 't know
this record any better than some of the previous Fleetwood Mac records" (CNN.com).

The campaign is further educating the audience regarding the basic stereotypes which exist for the

higher–end PCs is a little more difficult. Generally, though, Macs have faster processors than their
Windows counterparts but tend to skimp slightly when it comes to RAM, hard disk space and USB
ports.
The kinds of connections and optical drives found on Macs and PCs also differ in certain ways.
Macs offer a pretty standard selection of such features, including a SuperDrive (reads and writes
CDs and DVDs), audio in and audio out, USB, FireWire (data transfer), Thunderbolt (video output),
Ethernet, and a magnetized power port. PCs offer comparable features, plus a few more, like Blu–

Windows XP is a modular system that contains two main layers, a user mode and a kernel mode.
The user mode refers to the mode in which the user programs are run such as Adobe Photoshop and

The user mode is made up of subsystems capable of passing I/O requests to the appropriate kernel
mode drivers by using the I/O manager. Two subsystems make up the user mode layer, the
environment subsystem and the integral subsystem. The Environment subsystem is designed to run
applications written for many different types of operating systems. Unfortunately these applications
run at a lower priority than kernel mode processes. The Environment subsystem has three main

The reason why I'm saying they are entrepreneurs is because entrepreneurs they saw an opportunity
in the market and they grabbed that opportunity with both hands. They took a risk and were creative
people (they were the first to realise that customers were impatient people that wanted what they
bought quickly. George Michelle is a leader (I'm saying this because a leader is a person who works
along with his team, he doesn't issue tasks and just sit back and watch them perform the tasks.
George Michell in this documentary actually works along with his employees and he stands behind

Donald's uses an autocratic management style, this means that the manager is the one that makes all
the decisions. Mac Donald's is a franchise company, they listen and follow the rules and regulations

follow some of these principles (e.g the Social Responsibility and Transparency), the reason why
I'm saying they weren't social responsibility is because back in the days Mac Donald's only focused
on profits not the community (people). Mac Donald's were not transparent because even though they
knew that their products could cause Obesity, they didn't let the customers/consumers know that,

Mac vs PC Essay
Since the dawn of the information age, computers have developed into a very important part of
society. They are increasingly being integrated with numerous aspects of human life, and have
become a necessity in many college and business settings. Two major corporations that capitalize on
this integration are Microsoft and Apple, and while they may appear identical, the difference
between Microsoft's Personal Computer and Apple's Macintosh becomes much more apparent when
affordability, variety, and vulnerability are considered. Ultimately, a PC is a better purchase than a
Macintosh.

causes stratification of the PCs resulting in low–end, average, and luxury versions.

are only a few distinct models of computers made by Apple, and each of them can only be found at
Apple's store or on their website.
Microsoft's approach of creating competition also increases both the variety and the availability of
their PCs. PCs can be found almost anywhere that sells other electronics. Each PC manufacturer
produces their own configurations. Each retailer sells at least a few exclusive PCs. The end result is
many different PC options for the consumer.
One advantage Macintosh has is its virtually impenetrable defenses against computer viruses and
hackers. There are very few viruses that affect Macintosh computers as programming in the
operating system changes vastly with each new version. This makes it much more difficult to create
a virus, and greatly White 3
decreases the success rate of hackers by limiting the available targets. While not required for safe
web browsing, security software can effectively eradicate the small number of viruses that do
actually exist for Macintosh computers.
Arguably the biggest

Difference Between Windows Based Systems And Apple 's Mac...
Unit I Scholarly Activity
As an avid computer user, it is interesting to read article after article that will not define a significant
difference between Windows based systems and Apple's MAC systems. They all indicate that there
are differences and similarities but from the readings, there is no concise evidence that one is better
than the other. The bottom line is that it really comes down to the user, their level and depth of
experience with one or the other, and what the user's specific intentions are with the computer. It is
apparent however, that both platforms have bounced back and forth in leading the pack with
different versions of software they have released.
Differences
According to Dachis (2013), Microsoft Windows provides a more flexible and customizable
approach to its software systems. Mac however, can provide a more user friendly experience. Mac's
user interface is more straightforward, and the hardware itself is more aesthetically pleasing. Also,
Windows systems provide a wider range of software compatibility when compared to MAC due to
MAC's limited hardware and software capabilities out of the box. This is not to say that MAC is
behind the curve with providing a high end product, but consumers will pay a lot more money for a
high–end MAC than they would to build a high–end computer running on Windows.
Similarities
While there are differences between the two platforms, the reality is that they are two software
systems attempting to accomplish

This paper will be explaining how switches and hubs handle MAC addresses, what additional
features are available on switches that are not available on hubs. It will also address how bandwidth
can be enhanced through a switch, describes differences in how traffic flow between a switch and a
hub. In addition, analyze how switches and hubs play a role in security. According to Hardwood &
Bird (2005), hubs connect devices on a twisted–pair network. Hardwood & Bird (2005) stated that a
hub does not perform any tasks besides signal regeneration. The function of a hub is to take data
from one of the connected devices and forward it to all the other ports on the hub.
According to Solomon & Kim (2013), a hub is similar to a repeater. The main ... Show more content

Hubs according to Balchunas (2011) provide no intelligent forwarding whatsoever. Hubs are
incapable of processing either Layer–2 or Layer–3 information, and thus cannot make decisions
based on hardware or logical addressing (Balchunas, 2011, p.3). Thus, hubs will always forward
every frame out every port, excluding the port originating the frame. Hubs do not differentiate
between frame types, and thus will always forward unicasts, multicasts, and broadcasts out every
port but the originating port.
According to Hardwood & Bird (2005), switches on the other hand connects devices on a twisted–
pair network. A switch forwards data to its destination by using the MAC address embedded in each
packet. Like hubs, switches are the connectivity points of an Ethernet network. Hardwood & Bird
(2005), stated that devices connect to switches via twisted–pair cabling, one cable for each device.
According to Carl (2008) switches are used to connect several terminals without forming a single
collision domain. Switches inspects arriving packets' destination addresses and forwards its only on
the right cable.
The difference between hubs and switches is in how the devices deal with the data that they receive.
Whereas a hub forwards the data it receives to all of the ports on the device, a switch forwards it
only to the port that connects to the destination device. It does this by learning the MAC address of
the devices attached to it, and then by matching the

Essay about Mac vs Pc
Mac vs. PC: The Everlasting Debate
In the world of computers, the choice of systems can be a complicated one. There are two
competitors out there, PCs and Macs. Everyone has their own opinion on which is better, and there
are many die–hard fans in each camp. The truth is, PC's are far more popular, and for good reasons,
yet the Mac system is actually the more durable and useful of the two. Firstly we will consider
software availability. The majority of computer users own PC's, both for work and recreational use.
Therefore, software companies find that it is far more profitable to develop software that is for use
on a PC instead of a Mac. There is such a variety of software written for PC's that is unavailable for
Macs that it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Today, however, Windows XP has greatly reduced the gap between the two systems. The main
problem with the Mac OS is the fact that applications could be in any of several places, such as the
Dock, the Desktop, or the Applications folder. With Windows XP, all applications can be accessed
from the Start menu, as well as in other ways (Kaufman, 2003). Another area that Macs are ahead of
PC's in is stability. The Mac OS is built on the UNIX operating system, which is by far more stable
that PC's own foundations. This results in fewer crashes with the system. The Mac systems are also
more stable because Apple controls everything that is plugged into the system, and each system is
complete straight out of the box. With PCs, there are more peripherals to plug in, and a wide variety
of different add–ons available, increasing the likelihood of device conflicts (Kaufman, 2003). The
people who create Macs have managed to get very far ahead of those who create PC's in design
points. The Mac has been detailed to perfection, and looks sleek and simple. The PC, on the other
hand, is basically a bunch of boxes and things stuck together, far clunkier, and less appealing
visually. The iMac is a very compact machine, and it doesn't have random buttons and things
distracting from its design. The desktop PC, however, is large and clutters up any space without
looking anywhere near as simply elegant as the Mac (Kaufman, 2003)(Apple, 2006). Although

Pcs Vs Mac Research Paper
Pcs and Macs are two kinds of computer being sold . They are known as the world's two biggest
competitors in the computer industry. They both have a lot of differences and similarities. For,
example one might say I will be using the computer for personal use so will get an Pc. The truth is
that both of them could be used for personal, commercial, or corporate use. The big differences are
graphics, customizability, performance,Software, price and scalability Pc and Mac can have the same
graphics but pcs can also be upgraded to faster better graphic rendering. A PC computer usually has
more memory, more processors, and a better graphic card make it the better Graphics processor.
There is way more customization in the software made for pc called windows then there is for macs
software called OS X. If one wanted software and they tried looking for it. One would most likely

carefull with downloading and moving files with windows on the pc. For Example if one moves the
wrong file, can make the whole computer stop working, As a result, many users have to restart his
or her computer at least once or twice a day. But it is completely different with an mac . The OS X
system is different if one would move file on the hard drive it won't be destroyed. It makes that one
program quit and leave the rest of the computer continues working. It works like this because macs
keep all the programs separate.

The Pros And Cons Of Computer OS Vs. Mac OS

  • 1. The Pros And Cons Of Computer OS Vs. Mac OS School and University systems provide their students and employees with a mix of the computers that run either the Mac OS or the Windows OS. Recently, the security attacks on Windows OS have increased and the number of systems that are affected worldwide is only increasing every year. It is high time that the Universities and Schools start shifting to Mac OS. This article suggests the school systems to shift to Mac OS by presenting the operating systems, security attacks on the systems and their effects, the statistics of the security attacks on Mac OS vs Windows, the strengths of Mac OS, and the advantages of shifting to Mac OS. There are a wide variety of operating systems that are available to run on the computers. All of them have their own set of advantages and drawbacks. But, Windows OS and the Mac OS are the most used operating systems worldwide. Since the introduction of Windows OS and Mac OS in the early 1980s, hereby referred as Windows and Mac respectively, the users of those operating systems have formed into two devout clans which support those systems no matter what. Users of one system oppose the other system vehemently. Nearly 1 billion people are reported to be using Windows whereas Mac is used by 100 million people making it the second most used operating system. Every operating system has an inherent operating system security which protects the computer, the system itself, and the user of the computer by ensuring the integrity, confidentiality, and ... Windows XP vs. Mac OS X Architecture When looking at the interface of the Mac OS X Operating System and the Microsoft Windows XP operating system many similarities can be seen. The most obvious is the use of blue in the interface. In the core of the systems they both have a micro kernel which addresses thread management, space management and other communications at the system level and is more resistant to attacks from a virus. Mac OS X is a powerful development platform; it supports multiple development technologies like UNIX, Java, Cocoa and Carbon. It also is host to many open source, web, scripting, database and development technologies. It was build around the integrated stack of graphics and media technologies such as QuickTime, ... The system can also determine how much RAM should be used for each running application and it can also determine how much of the processor needs to be devoted to the running applications. For example if a picture is being rendered in Photoshop in the background and a user is surfing the web in the foreground, the system will automatically put more of the processors power to the Photoshop application to get the requested job done. Apple also wants as many developers as it can get for the Operating System; therefore they have created development tools that are included with every copy of the system. One of the most notable programs that is included is called Xcode. Xcode provides interfaces to compilers that support several programming languages such as C, C++ and Java. Because Apple is also in a transition from the PowerPC RISC processor to the Intel X86 processor the Xcode application can compile code for either or both processors, making the compiled application a Universal Binary application. Many people who watch television or online videos might come across the "Get a Mac" advertisement campaign launched by Apple Inc. personifying the more youthful Justin Long as the cool, hip Mac system and the older, more seasoned John Hodgman as the PC. The "Get a Mac" commercial series depicts the efficiency and user friendliness of Mac while comparing it to the problematic PC. Though the commercial series might seem convincing in favor of the Mac products, the commercial would obviously hide the flaws of the Macs. The actually masks the fact that PC comes out on top at the end of the day with great efficiency, the ability to do a diverse range of work, and its user–friendliness. But now ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Let us start with the hardware. Building a computer is not easy because finding compatible components is important but once the computer is built, analyzing the key components is pretty simple. Personally, I have a self–built PC which runs top of the line components that is more advanced and affordable than that of an Mac hardware. In the case of a Mac computer, the hardware is integrated which makes keeping up with the latest components such as better CPUs, and graphics card unavailable. Furthermore, in Intel's PC vs. Mac article (Intel makes components for both Mac and PC), Intel states, "Apple's range of product is narrower than that of PCs" even though the Mac system "can be robustly outfitted" (which means add in more gadgets such as web cams and microphones )(Intel). Though the Macs already have web cams and microphones on the system, PC users can surpass these tools and gadgets with even better high definition cameras and studio quality microphones with one quick install. Having said that, it is crystal clear that PC computers have the edge when it comes to computer components because of the PC's ability to upgrade its hardware consistently to make performance more efficient which is a necessity that the Mac computers do not provide in the constantly advancing technological world. In conjunction with computer hardware, the importance of a user–friendly operating system and it's ability to perform an diverse range of tasks is the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Mac Vs Pc Research Paper When shopping for a new computer in today's day and age there are, for the most part, two different options available for purchase, a Mac, or a P.C. Macs and PCs have many similarities as well as differences. However, these two competitors are of different leagues and are generally used for different things. When looking to buy a new computer, the customer should generally take into consideration what they plan on using it for and their price range. These two differences are what set Macs and PCs apart from one another and determine who purchases them. PCs and Macs share two main commonalities, the fact that they are both computers and they come in both laptop and desktop varieties. Macs generally come in one of two forms, (excluding macbooks) ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Apple is often criticized for the price of Macs being so much higher than that of PCs with similar processing power. The prices of Macs (depending on which one is purchased) at their base models, can vary anywhere from $1099 to $3000 (Apple). This number only increases when the Mac is upgraded from the base model. PCs however can often be found for much cheaper than a Mac, whether they come pre–assembled, or are built by the user. The problem with Macs is that there is often a small difference in price for a powerful PC vs a low–end Mac. In addition, the costs for products that accommodate these two companies vary proportionally to the cost of the computers themselves. For example, the average Mac keyboard may cost 3 times more than the average P.C. counterpart. Similarly, replacing a P.C. monitor may cost far less than replacing a monitor for a Mac. Cost is the most common factor in the Mac vs. P.C. debate. The newest Mac costs considerably more than a comparable P.C. that will come with much more potential software and upgrade paths for the future. There are also many different companies that sell PCs, such as HP, Acer, Asus, Dell, and MSI. Macs however are limited to being sold by Apple, meaning that the price is always under their ... My father is a music aficionado, and the predominant reason I was acquainted with the paradise of music. I used to stare at his gargantuan wall of CDs for hours marveling at the unique splendor of each album cover. Only a select few songs out of the millions on that wall were magnificent enough to change my life. Once in a blue moon, I stumble upon a song that is so profound and liberating, it captivates me as I listen and brings new insights to my life. One song, which reached immediate success upon its release in 1977, would later change my life. Listening to the song I am so fervent about, "Go Your Own Way" by Fleetwood Mac, helped me to develop my musical taste through its eloquent lyrics, an upbeat melody, and the passionate performance of the song. There is no doubt that song lyrics possess the potential to be powerful. The meaning of the lyrics can be used in any way the listener feels it applies. The underlying meaning to a song often determines if I will listen to it or not. Words such as "lonely" and "change" are repeatedly used in "Go Your Own Way". Change and loneliness are arduous for many people, myself included, and listening to this song alleviates the pain of heartbreak. Many people experience this pain but cannot put it into words. Fleetwood Mac, however, successfully accomplished this. This song helped me to get through some tough times, and it ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Mac vs. PC: The Debate and the Dilemma Essay Mac vs. PC: The Debate and the Dilemma Background of the Debate The debate between whether to buy Macintosh or buy a PC has been ongoing since Microsoft first introduced Microsoft Windows in November 1984. Apple Macintosh had developed its first personal computer, mouse and graphical user interface (GUI) in January of 1984. The debate has grown and has been the subject of many articles and even is the main high light of various websites. This frequently heated debate has even been compared to the Pepsi vs. Coke debate (Derene, 2009). While the rhetoric has continued the differences between these products has actually lessened, making it possible for some applications to be shared. Even the ... Most literature that is not published by the computer companies, now identify the similarities and focus less on the differences. The research on the personality traits of Mac vs. PC users even show a blending and less division than in the past (Ford, 2009). There are some other differences in the Apple Mac and PCs that should be considered when discussing which machines are better for schools to purchase. Educational Setting The use of Apple Macintosh in schools is predominantly all that I know and I knew little of personal computer use prior to ten years ago. Our middle class, suburban school district of over 4000 students, use to pride itself with keeping up with the technology with its more affluent neighbors to the east and the south. Changes in the economy have limited the purchase of new computers to 1.) Those bought for the new school in the district three years ago, 2.) Of course, I could go for an Upton Sinclair–style muckraking speech, portraying the values and integrity of Apple versus the corruption of the "Wintel" demons. I then realized that the lost sheep was waiting. "I definitely think Macs are better than PCs. They've got superior hardware, just–as–good or better software, and are far more reliable. Choosing one over the other, is chiefly a matter of personal preference. Although, fans and users alike, tend to share sentimental opinions on why one is better than the other. Their distinct qualities, make it easier to compare and contrast their features, in order to succinctly make a final decision; whether to buy a Mac OS X or a Windows 8.1. Although Macs are not completely useless, PCs dominate the world of computers with a better user interface, cheaper price, and better internal workings. These advantages far outweigh any little extra features that a Mac might have. First of all, PCs have a better user interface. While Mac users have always boasted of having a computer with a clean, modern look, this changed with Windows Vista, released on January 30, 2007. Windows Vista has translucent window bars, a search bar on the start menu, and tabs on the bottom of the screen, as well as introducing a feature in which users can scroll ... Less RAM means programs run slower, so having more RAM is definitely a plus. Windows launches applications faster than Macs, and Windows is far better at 3–D rendering (required for most modern games) (itok.net). Compatibility is definitely a major issue. PC's are compatible with Xbox 360, the top selling console of 2011 (winrumors.com), Linux, and Windows 7 has something called XP mode. XP mode allows the PC user to run Windows XP on their Windows 7. PCs are also more compatible with TVs/big screens, because most Macs require an adapter (www.itok.net). Another topic to think about is the Windows Task Manager. The Windows Task Manager allows you access with a quick shortcut (CTRL–SHIFT–ESC or CTRL–ALT–DELETE) to close unresponsive or frozen programs, or to monitor threads, CPU usage, network usages, users, and background processes. Mac's equivalent, Activity Monitor, does not have such a simple access method (the user must search for it in spotlight, then click on it), does not provide as much information, and instead uses "Force Quit." PC's alternate to Force Quit is a simple pop–up that automatically appears when a program stops responding, possibly saving the user much time and effort. Subsequently not only do users have to pay yearly for anti–virus software, but often times have to pay upwards of hundreds of dollars to have their computer wiped clean of any viral software. Perhaps Apple Inc has a better solution to offer. Mac computers aren't plagued by the millions of viruses that affect PCs. • 20. Mac Os Classic Has Its Shortcomings Essay Since the first Macintosh operating system, System 1, back in 1984 there has been 15 major versions issued. System 1 was the beginning point of the GUI based systems made available to the market. No longer relying on the text command line, it relied on the user manipulation of the GUI and mouse. However, the Mac OS Classic had its shortcomings. According to Jonathan Levin (2012), "Memory management was poor, however, and multitasking was cooperative, which–by today's standards––is considered primitive. Cooperative multitasking involves process voluntarily yielding their CPU timeslice, and works reasonably well when processes are well behaved" (p. 3,4). This wasn't always the case and any process malfunction would shut down the system. System 3, released in 1986 introduced File System Hierarchy, storing files in a tree like directory that is currently common on all operating systems today. It also was the first system to have Disk Cache that kept regularly used commands in the memory that sped up operations. There were several minor versions in between System 3 until System 7. System 7 was released in 1991 and it made use of a hard drive instead of a floppy disk that was too limited in size. It also had virtual memory that used free space on the hard drive as random access memory (RAM). Mac OS 7.6, released in 1997, was the first version to use the "Mac OS" instead of "System" in it naming scheme. Mac OS 7.6 and Mac OS 8.0 released also in 1997, where very ... Not having jobs meant that it would be awfully hard for them to obtain a loan from banks in order to purchase homes. The government decided to help the American people by creating the Federal Housing Administration (FHA) which basically stepped in and allowed banks to offer mortgages to more people with the promise that the banks would get their money back. The reason behind my thinking has to do with the new president we have in the White House. President has come out and said that he has a new tax reform plan that's supposed to have significant changes not only to personal taxes but corporate taxes as well. Trump has said that he wants to lower the corporate tax rate from the current 35% to 20, maybe even 15% which is great news for corporations but not so great when it comes to Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. The reason that this would be bad for these enterprises is because they are under conservatorship and cutting the corporate tax rate would force these enterprises to once again need a bailout. Being under conservatorship means that for every quarter Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac make a profit, they have to pay dividends to the department of treasury and at the same time they aren't allowed to rebuild capital but instead their capital base is diminished as time passes which means that in 2018 they will have not one penny remaining in their capital reserves. Furthermore, lower corporate tax rates mean that Fannie Mac and Freddie Mac will have "significant deferred tax asset write–downs...which, in turn, could lead to the GSE's need an additional draw from the Treasury to cover tax–related losses" (Housingwire). • 25. Rumours, by Fleetwood Mac Essay In 1977, when Fleetwood Mac released their multi–platinum album Rumours, I was 4 years old and far too young to appreciate music. As I entered my mid–20s, I had acquired a passion for music of the 1970s and fell in love with the Eagles, Rush, Led Zeppelin, but most importantly, Fleetwood Mac. Their music had become a part of me. It had developed into my personal therapeutic outlet and helped to keep me sane during any emotional upheaval that I might have been experiencing. It was then that I realized that the passionate, heartfelt music of Fleetwood Mac captured the very being of my soul and I became entranced. At any point of the day, whether at home or driving in my car, you could catch me listening to any one of their many albums. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There was not a single song on the album that did not come to life and cause all of us to relate to every emotion within their songs. When listening to "Go Your Own Way" one hears the lyrics, "Loving you isn't the right thing to do. / How can I ever change things that I feel? / If I could baby I'd give you my world. / How can I when you won't take it from me? / You can go your own way, go your own way." These lyrics capture your soul. They speak of the pain that accompanies the demise of a relationship. On the other hand, "Don't Stop" provokes feelings of hope and optimism instead of wallowing in the past. The entire playlist of Rumors causes lovers to reflect upon their own past heartbreak and relate. The album's ability to make that kind impression on a person's heart makes it phenomenal. We all desire to be able to relate to others and to feel understood. Once we make that connection, it remains with us always. Moreover, according to the Recording Industry Association of America, Rumours was certified platinum in America and in the UK within months of its release ("RIAA: Gold & Platinum"). Furthermore, the album spent 31 weeks on top of the Billboard charts and won the Grammy award "Album of the Year" in 1978 ("Christgau, Robert. Christgau's Record Guide") ("Grammy Rewind"). Mac Os : The Top Three Operating Systems Ever Created Caleb Schumake Professor Johnson CSC 3030 November 22, 2014 History of Mac OS Apple's Mac OS is one of the top three operating systems ever created. Mac OS is a series of GUI based operating systems created by Apple Inc. to work seamlessly with the hardware of their Macintosh computer systems. The first operating system introduced for Apple computers was Apple DOS 3.1 in 1978. It was primarily developed by Paul Laughton, Randy Wigginton and Steve Wozniak. Spanning the next three decades Apple would revolutionize the software industry by popularizing the intuitive, rich and simplistic feel of their operating system while harnessing its sheer power. The Apple II was an integrated computer with its own keyboard, case and was the first to display color graphics. Many revisions to the Apple II were made, each boasting a newer operating system. After the release of the Apple II many realized that a disk drive was imperative for a computer thus, Steve Wozniak created an elegant solution for a floppy disk drive. He coined it as the disk II, this gave birth to the need of a disk operating system within Apple (Singh 7). Apples first version of its disk operating system was released as Apple DOS 3.1 in July 1978. In subsequent years Apple created more diverse operating systems to fit user needs. When the Apple III was introduced in 1980 as a computer for business users it used a new operating system called SOS (Sophisticated operating system). The new operating system featured resources available in the form of a menu–driven utility program as well as programming API. These new additions gave the system the first feel of a true "user experience". Apples next improvement to their operating system would be the release of Apple ProDos. ProDos was released in October 1983 and was based on SOS. ProDos provided programmers with far more flexibility than prior systems such as better facilities for coding in BASIC, assembly language, machine language, and better interrupt handling (Singh 12). There are only a few distinct models of computers made by Apple, and each of them can only be found at Apple's store or on their website. Microsoft's approach of creating competition also increases both the variety and the availability of their PCs. PCs can be found almost anywhere that sells other electronics. They all indicate that there are differences and similarities but from the readings, there is no concise evidence that one is better than the other. The bottom line is that it really comes down to the user, their level and depth of experience with one or the other, and what the user's specific intentions are with the computer. It is apparent however, that both platforms have bounced back and forth in leading the pack with different versions of software they have released. Mac's user interface is more straightforward, and the hardware itself is more aesthetically pleasing. Also, Windows systems provide a wider range of software compatibility when compared to MAC due to MAC's limited hardware and software capabilities out of the box. This is not to say that MAC is behind the curve with providing a high end product, but consumers will pay a lot more money for a high–end MAC than they would to build a high–end computer running on Windows. Hubs are incapable of processing either Layer–2 or Layer–3 information, and thus cannot make decisions based on hardware or logical addressing (Balchunas, 2011, p.3). Thus, hubs will always forward every frame out every port, excluding the port originating the frame. Hubs do not differentiate between frame types, and thus will always forward unicasts, multicasts, and broadcasts out every port but the originating port. According to Hardwood & Bird (2005), switches on the other hand connects devices on a twisted– pair network. A switch forwards data to its destination by using the MAC address embedded in each packet. Like hubs, switches are the connectivity points of an Ethernet network. The Mac OS is built on the UNIX operating system, which is by far more stable that PC's own foundations. This results in fewer crashes with the system. The Mac systems are also more stable because Apple controls everything that is plugged into the system, and each system is complete straight out of the box. With PCs, there are more peripherals to plug in, and a wide variety of different add–ons available, increasing the likelihood of device conflicts (Kaufman, 2003).
