Today the battlefield for security has expanded into the technological sphere. Every digital process, resource, database or virtual platform is vulnerable to cyberattacks. The problem has global significance.
Across the UK we are seeing more and more examples of smart city transformation. Key 'smart' sectors utilised by such Cities include transport, energy, health care, water and waste. Against the current background of economic, social, security and technological changes caused by the globalization and the integration process, cities in the UK face the challenge of combining competitiveness and sustainable urban development simultaneously.
A smart city is a place where the traditional networks and services are made more efficient with the use of digital and telecommunication technologies, for the benefit of its inhabitants and businesses. With this vision in mind, the European Union is investing in ICT research and innovation and developing policies to improve the quality of life of citizens and make cities more sustainable in view of Europe's 20-20-20 targets.
The smart city concept goes beyond the use of ICT for better resource use and less emissions. It means smarter urban transport networks, upgraded water supply and waste disposal facilities, and more efficient ways to light and heat buildings.
And it also encompasses a more interactive and responsive city administration, safer and secure public spaces.

Dave Mailer of 4C Strategies gave a presentation on whether social media will finally unleash video collaboration. He discussed how video conferencing has evolved from dedicated environments that were difficult to use to being accessible from any device through cloud-based solutions. The rise of social media and unified communications has driven this change. Mailer covered statistics on video usage and potential benefits like reduced costs. He also outlined fundamentals of a video strategy and challenges of deployment. In conclusion, Mailer stated that video collaboration appears to be on the rise, driven by social media and enterprise unified communications.
Tom Brannen presented on communications technology trends. Major changes are underway as market pressures, social media, mobility, and cloud technologies drive transition away from older technologies. Legacy companies focused on telephony have struggled, while newer companies centered around collaboration and mobile technologies have thrived. Current transition replaces unified communications with team collaboration - built from the ground up to prioritize mobile-first integration and easy deployment. To survive this difficult period, organizations should have realistic expectations, start small, maintain perspective, and focus on clear outcomes.

Designing and Sustaining Large-Scale Value-Centered Agile Ecosystems (powered...Alexey Krivitsky
Is Agile dead? It depends on what you mean by 'Agile'. If you mean that the organizations are not getting the promised benefits because they were focusing too much on the team-level agile "ways of working" instead of systemic global improvements -- then we are in agreement. It is a misunderstanding of Agility that led us down a dead-end. At Org Topologies, we see bright sparks -- the signs of the 'second wave of Agile' as we call it. The emphasis is shifting towards both in-team and inter-team collaboration. Away from false dichotomies. Both: team autonomy and shared broad product ownership are required to sustain true result-oriented organizational agility. Org Topologies is a package offering a visual language plus thinking tools required to communicate org development direction and can be used to help design and then sustain org change aiming at higher organizational archetypes.

Impact of Effective Performance Appraisal Systems on Employee Motivation and ...Dr. Nazrul Islam
Healthy economic development requires properly managing the banking industry of any
country. Along with state-owned banks, private banks play a critical role in the country's economy.
Managers in all types of banks now confront the same challenge: how to get the utmost output from
their employees. Therefore, Performance appraisal appears to be inevitable since it set the
standard for comparing actual performance to established objectives and recommending practical
solutions that help the organization achieve sustainable growth. Therefore, the purpose of this
