Please read Chapters 12and 13 and look carefully at the illustrations. Please note that there was a significant difference between the art of Northern Europe and Southern Europe during this time. The term Renaissance means a renewal or a rebirth--in this context of the styles and ideas of the Greek and Roman (Classical) past. While both areas continued to use Christian themes, the style, or the manner in which the images are put together and presented to the viewer, differed substantially from North to South. The North continued to be quite medieval or Gothic in styles, while the South (chiefly Italy), relied heavily on its Classical (Greek and Roman) past. During this period, you will see that the human figure, especially the nude, in an echo of the Classical past, appears again in Italy. The North will come to admire and to use the nude only with Albrecht Duerer, a major German artist of the late-fifteenth and early-sixteenth centuries. He will be the first Northern artist to participate in the developing humanist and classical interests of Italy. It is with this artist that the North enters into the "spirit" and the subject matter of the Italian form of the Renaissance.
Describe the development of the Northern Renaissance images with respect to the use of very detailed, ordinary objects symbolic of religious ideas. Contrast that with the Classicism of the Italian works.

The pace of stylistic change will begin to keep up with the faster pace of life. Here you will look at the remnants of the Classical world in the Neo-Classical (or new classical) examples, which are sometime pitted against the more intuitive, less doctrinaire works of the Romantic artists. Here, too, you will begin to look at the American works, drawn from European ideas and styles, but adapted for a new country and a new need for art. Sometimes the styles or labels of the categories of art will become blurred, making absolutes difficult to determine. I am sure that, by now, you will say, "But all periods are divergent; all periods have variants which make labels and categories uncertain." And, you will be correct. The momentum for change and for the existence of multiple ideas and styles within a specific place and time merely increases and the changes seem to be more drastic. The term Renaissance means a renewal or a rebirth--in this context of the styles and ideas of the Greek and Roman (Classical) past. While both areas continued to use Christian themes, the style, or the manner in which the images are put together and presented to the viewer, differed substantially from North to South. The North continued to be quite medieval or Gothic in styles, while the South (chiefly Italy), relied heavily on its Classical (Greek and Roman) past. Romanticism and Impressionism vary greatly in their style. Romanticism was in favor for a much longer period of time, roughly 1800-1890, than Impressionism (1870-1880). Romanticism was more an attitude and choice of subjects than a true style. The artists of this period looked for emotions and imagination when deciding what they wanted to create. They looked for the risqué and exotic as well as mystery. Impressionist artists had some more flexibility with the new availability of equipment that was more portable. This allowed Impressionists to work in the actual outdoors as opposed to studios. These artists used natural light, shadows and a lighter color palette to express their ideas.
The pieces for this discussion were chosen due to the similar subject of the works yet stark contrast. Both pieces feature a group of people enjoying a leisurely activity, yet they are not alike at all. The way they contrast and show their specific movements is remarkably interesting. First, the Romanticism piece chosen is The Women of Algiers by Delacroix (p.485, fig. 21.2). This piece is very risqué, and the subject of the piece is quite scandalous. The women portrayed are women in a harem and it was unusual for outsiders to be allowed in, let alone document it such as this. Delacroix demonstrates this period by the subject of the piece being so exotic and mysterious. He does a great job showing unity yet variety here as well. The painting feels very dark and colors of the piece are mostly neutral and really work well together, with a kick of reddish orange here and there to brighten up the piece.
The Impressionist piece Le Moulin de la Galette (p.490, fig. 21.7) by Renoir is a stark contrast to The Women of Algiers . This piece, while detailed enough for one to see the subjects and understand the context of the painting, is not focused on the clear lines and defined objects as The Women of Algiers is. Renoir uses a freer stroke and uses emphasis and subordination. The emphasis of the painting is on the small group in the front of the painting as the rest get blurrier the farther away they are. During the Renaissance period lots of changes were made within the world of art and the concept of it all. During that period so many new ways and concepts of how art was done, whether it be sculptures, paintings, or any other type of art. Renaissance art differed from the prior period, because a lot more architecture was being created and had a whole new perspective and deeper sense of dimensional effects.
The work between an Italian Renaissance artist and a Northern European Renaissance artist contrast by, focusing on the different details and abilities when it came to their art. Italian artist liked to focus and understand more of the human anatomy aspects of the art, and the northern focused more on surface details and naturalism. The northern also like to focus on portraits, while the Italian focused more on classical mythology. The Italian and northern European artist compared by, both focusing on religious scenes of art and glorifying the power of God. They both also focused on making paintings and different art more realistic.
The different concerns and heritages of the Italian and Northern Renaissance artists that resulted in the different characteristics would be, the way both of them viewed and had a perspective on how their own art should be. Both worshiped and focused a lot towards the higher power and God, but at the same time even has nudity within their different artworks.

Art is not created in a vacuum. Behind every work of art are layers of context. It is important to look

The Paper is to include a discussion, based on a minimum of three articles, books or chapters in a book (excluding the class Textbook), which describe, discuss, support and/or refute the hypothesis. A minimum of three citations with references in APA format will be included at the end of the paper.
Also at the end of the paper will be included a short Appendix which will answer three questions:
1. What were the databases used to find each article. (For example in the Communicative Disorders Multisearch example shown below we searched ten Data Bases but found most of our articles inPubMed.)
2. What was the search strategy which was used, i.e., the search words used in each database to find the articles. (In the example below, we used the terms “Television and (Language Development). We put the last two terms in brackets so that the computer would link Television to both terms and not just “Language.”)
3. Was each article cited an example of Primary or Secondary research? As defined by the Library at UC Berkley, “Primary sources were either created during the time period being studied, or were created at a later date by a participant in the events being studied (as in the case of memoirs) and they reflect the individual viewpoint of a participant or observer. Primary sources enable the researcher to get as close as possible to what actually happened during an historical event or time period.”
“ A secondary source is a work that interprets or analyzes an historical event or phenomenon. It is generally at least one step removed from the event. Examples include scholarly or popular books and articles, reference books, and textbooks.”
Req# 2--TECHNOLOGY APPLICATION AND PRACTICE:
An Annotated Bibliography will be developed including Five (100 word minimum) Annotated Citations. With the exception of the first, these will be based on topics obtained from the Language Development Hypotheses in the list provided at the end.
The First annotated citation will be on the Topic of the “Legal and Ethical Dimensions of the Use of Information.” This information can be obtained from the Internet using a search engine such as Google Scholar. The annotated citation should be in APA format and should include the URL (address) of the of the internet site. The annotation should provide an overview of the discussion and/or list the most critical points.
The second two of these citations will be obtained through Databases of professional books and journals available online through the CSUN Library. For more information on how to find these databases please see the discussion in the Class Requirements Section Online. These citations will be reported in APA format. Included in the annot.

Romanticism and Impressionism vary greatly in their style. Romanticism was in favor for a much longer period of time, roughly 1800-1890, than Impressionism (1870-1880). Romanticism was more an attitude and choice of subjects than a true style. The artists of this period looked for emotions and imagination when deciding what they wanted to create. They looked for the risqué and exotic as well as mystery. Impressionist artists had some more flexibility with the new availability of equipment that was more portable. This allowed Impressionists to work in the actual outdoors as opposed to studios. These artists used natural light, shadows and a lighter color palette to express their ideas.
The pieces for this discussion were chosen due to the similar subject of the works yet stark contrast. Both pieces feature a group of people enjoying a leisurely activity, yet they are not alike at all. The way they contrast and show their specific movements is remarkably interesting. First, the Romanticism piece chosen is The Women of Algiers by Delacroix (p.485, fig. 21.2). This piece is very risqué, and the subject of the piece is quite scandalous. The women portrayed are women in a harem and it was unusual for outsiders to be allowed in, let alone document it such as this. Delacroix demonstrates this period by the subject of the piece being so exotic and mysterious. He does a great job showing unity yet variety here as well. The painting feels very dark and colors of the piece are mostly neutral and really work well together, with a kick of reddish orange here and there to brighten up the piece.
The Impressionist piece Le Moulin de la Galette (p.490, fig. 21.7) by Renoir is a stark contrast to The Women of Algiers . This piece, while detailed enough for one to see the subjects and understand the context of the painting, is not focused on the clear lines and defined objects as The Women of Algiers is. Renoir uses a freer stroke and uses emphasis and subordination. The emphasis of the painting is on the small group in the front of the painting as the rest get blurrier the farther away they are. During the Renaissance period lots of changes were made within the world of art and the concept of it all. During that period so many new ways and concepts of how art was done, whether it be sculptures, paintings, or any other type of art. Renaissance art differed from the prior period, because a lot more architecture was being created and had a whole new perspective and deeper sense of dimensional effects.
The work between an Italian Renaissance artist and a Northern European Renaissance artist contrast by, focusing on the different details and abilities when it came to their art. Italian artist liked to focus and understand more of the human anatomy aspects of the art, and the northern focused more on surface details and naturalism. The northern also like to focus on portraits, while the Italian focused more on classical mythology. The Italian and northern European artist compared by, both focusing on religious scenes of art and glorifying the power of God. They both also focused on making paintings and different art more realistic.
The different concerns and heritages of the Italian and Northern Renaissance artists that resulted in the different characteristics would be, the way both of them viewed and had a perspective on how their own art should be. Both worshiped and focused a lot towards the higher power and God, but at the same time even has nudity within their different artworks.

Context can be historical, cultural, social, and political
Art is not created in a vacuum. Behind every work of art are layers of context. It is important to look
not only at the formal qualities of a work of art but also at the time period in which it was created.
What events were taking place at this time and in the location where the art was created? What events
were happening in the artist's or writer's life (if it is known) at the time the work of art was created?
What were the values and ideals from the time period in which the artwork was created?
Context can take many forms: historical, cultural, social, and political. It is important to understand the
context in which a work of art was created in order to understand the work of art in its own right and
within its own time, but also to understand how the context surrounding the work of art has changed
over time. In the process of addressing a work of art's context, you can see how aesthetic values and
ideals have also changed, thereby changing a work of art's context over time.
This module provides you with the tools needed to identify and then consider the context behind works

Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing.
