Please read Chapters 12and 13 and look carefully at the illustrations. Please note that there was a significant difference between the art of Northern Europe and Southern Europe during this time. The term Renaissance means a renewal or a rebirth--in this context of the styles and ideas of the Greek and Roman (Classical) past. While both areas continued to use Christian themes, the style, or the manner in which the images are put together and presented to the viewer, differed substantially from North to South. The North continued to be quite medieval or Gothic in styles, while the South (chiefly Italy), relied heavily on its Classical (Greek and Roman) past. Here you will look at the remnants of the Classical world in the Neo-Classical (or new classical) examples, which are sometime pitted against the more intuitive, less doctrinaire works of the Romantic artists. 1. What is Orientalism? What aspects of colonialism inspired Orientalism? How has it affected art, both in terms of how the subject matter was portrayed by the artist and in the ways the work has been viewed? When discussing how the works are viewed take into consideration how artist wanted their works viewed, how the art was actually viewed when it was created, and finally how we, as modern viewers see it?
2. How important was Napoleon Bonaparte’s use of art as propaganda and censorship in the rise and consolidation of his power? Choose two pieces of art commissioned by Napoleon (does not have to be from chapter 18) that support your argument of his use of art propaganda. List the title, artist, date, and medium of each piece. Refer to each piece at least three times when composing your statements.
3. Define the Protestant Reformation and the Counter Reformation. How did these two movements affect art? Choose one piece during the Reformation and one piece created during the Counter Reformation and compare and contrast the two pieces. Be sure to point out changes in style between the two periods. List the title, artist, date, and medium of each piece if known.
4. Discuss the ways in which the movement toward Realism in art reflected the social and political concerns of the nineteenth century. Choose one piece of art created in the Realism period that supports your argument. List the title, artist, date, and medium. How does this piece reveal the concerns that you mentioned in the first part of the question? Give at least three examples.
5. Compare Neoclassicism and Romanticism as two cultural expressions of mid-eighteenth to mid-nineteenth century Europe. You must discuss the political atmosphere in both periods and how it affected art. Choose one piece of art from the Neoclassical period and one from the Romantic period that support your claim. List the title, artist, date, and medium of each piece. Refer to each of these pieces in at least three instances for this purpose.
6. Neither of these works was meant to be exhibited in a museum case for an art-loving public seeking a cultural experience. Romanticism and Impressionism vary greatly in their style. Romanticism was in favor for a much longer period of time, roughly 1800-1890, than Impressionism (1870-1880). Romanticism was more an attitude and choice of subjects than a true style. The artists of this period looked for emotions and imagination when deciding what they wanted to create. They looked for the risqué and exotic as well as mystery. Impressionist artists had some more flexibility with the new availability of equipment that was more portable. This allowed Impressionists to work in the actual outdoors as opposed to studios. These artists used natural light, shadows and a lighter color palette to express their ideas.
The pieces for this discussion were chosen due to the similar subject of the works yet stark contrast. Both pieces feature a group of people enjoying a leisurely activity, yet they are not alike at all. The way they contrast and show their specific movements is remarkably interesting. First, the Romanticism piece chosen is The Women of Algiers by Delacroix (p.485, fig. 21.2). This piece is very risqué, and the subject of the piece is quite scandalous. The women portrayed are women in a harem and it was unusual for outsiders to be allowed in, let alone document it such as this. Delacroix demonstrates this period by the subject of the piece being so exotic and mysterious. He does a great job showing unity yet variety here as well. The painting feels very dark and colors of the piece are mostly neutral and really work well together, with a kick of reddish orange here and there to brighten up the piece.
The Impressionist piece Le Moulin de la Galette (p.490, fig. 21.7) by Renoir is a stark contrast to The Women of Algiers . This piece, while detailed enough for one to see the subjects and understand the context of the painting, is not focused on the clear lines and defined objects as The Women of Algiers is. Renoir uses a freer stroke and uses emphasis and subordination. The emphasis of the painting is on the small group in the front of the painting as the rest get blurrier the farther away they are. . Also known as the New York School. The first major American avant-garde movement, Abstract Expressionism emerged in New York City in the 1940s. During the Renaissance period lots of changes were made within the world of art and the concept of it all. During that period so many new ways and concepts of how art was done, whether it be sculptures, paintings, or any other type of art. Renaissance art differed from the prior period, because a lot more architecture was being created and had a whole new perspective and deeper sense of dimensional effects.
The work between an Italian Renaissance artist and a Northern European Renaissance artist contrast by, focusing on the different details and abilities when it came to their art. Italian artist liked to focus and understand more of the human anatomy aspects of the art, and the northern focused more on surface details and naturalism. The northern also like to focus on portraits, while the Italian focused more on classical mythology. The Italian and northern European artist compared by, both focusing on religious scenes of art and glorifying the power of God. They both also focused on making paintings and different art more realistic.
The different concerns and heritages of the Italian and Northern Renaissance artists that resulted in the different characteristics would be, the way both of them viewed and had a perspective on how their own art should be. Both worshiped and focused a lot towards the higher power and God, but at the same time even has nudity within their different artworks.

Romanticism and Impressionism vary greatly in their style. Romanticism was in favor for a much longer period of time, roughly 1800-1890, than Impressionism (1870-1880). Romanticism was more an attitude and choice of subjects than a true style. The artists of this period looked for emotions and imagination when deciding what they wanted to create. They looked for the risqué and exotic as well as mystery. Impressionist artists had some more flexibility with the new availability of equipment that was more portable. This allowed Impressionists to work in the actual outdoors as opposed to studios. These artists used natural light, shadows and a lighter color palette to express their ideas.
The pieces for this discussion were chosen due to the similar subject of the works yet stark contrast. Both pieces feature a group of people enjoying a leisurely activity, yet they are not alike at all. The way they contrast and show their specific movements is remarkably interesting. First, the Romanticism piece chosen is The Women of Algiers by Delacroix (p.485, fig. 21.2). This piece is very risqué, and the subject of the piece is quite scandalous. The women portrayed are women in a harem and it was unusual for outsiders to be allowed in, let alone document it such as this. Delacroix demonstrates this period by the subject of the piece being so exotic and mysterious. He does a great job showing unity yet variety here as well. The painting feels very dark and colors of the piece are mostly neutral and really work well together, with a kick of reddish orange here and there to brighten up the piece.
The Impressionist piece Le Moulin de la Galette (p.490, fig. 21.7) by Renoir is a stark contrast to The Women of Algiers . This piece, while detailed enough for one to see the subjects and understand the context of the painting, is not focused on the clear lines and defined objects as The Women of Algiers is. Renoir uses a freer stroke and uses emphasis and subordination. The emphasis of the painting is on the small group in the front of the painting as the rest get blurrier the farther away they are. · Abstract Expressionism
. Also known as the New York School. The first major American avant-garde movement, Abstract Expressionism emerged in New York City in the 1940s. The artists produced abstract paintings that expressed their state of mind and that they hoped would strike emotional chords in viewers. · Action painting

During the Renaissance period lots of changes were made within the world of art and the concept of it all. During that period so many new ways and concepts of how art was done, whether it be sculptures, paintings, or any other type of art. Renaissance art differed from the prior period, because a lot more architecture was being created and had a whole new perspective and deeper sense of dimensional effects.
The work between an Italian Renaissance artist and a Northern European Renaissance artist contrast by, focusing on the different details and abilities when it came to their art. Italian artist liked to focus and understand more of the human anatomy aspects of the art, and the northern focused more on surface details and naturalism. The northern also like to focus on portraits, while the Italian focused more on classical mythology. The Italian and northern European artist compared by, both focusing on religious scenes of art and glorifying the power of God. They both also focused on making paintings and different art more realistic.
The different concerns and heritages of the Italian and Northern Renaissance artists that resulted in the different characteristics would be, the way both of them viewed and had a perspective on how their own art should be. Both worshiped and focused a lot towards the higher power and God, but at the same time even has nudity within their different artworks.

3. The outdoor play area has large cracks in the pavement and the jungle gym has become rusty due to flooding. Repairs on the outdoor play area are estimated at about $10,000.
4. Families in the neighborhood are experiencing losses in their homes as well. As a result, several families have decided to withdraw their children from your early childhood care center as they cannot afford the weekly tuition. The estimated tuition loss is approximately $25,000 for the year.
5. Two lead teachers and one assistant teacher have decided to move to a different town, causing them to resign from their positions. These teachers will only be paid approximately half their salaries for the year.

Since the attacks on the World Trade Center in New York City and the Pentagon in
Washington, DC on 11 September 2001, Muslims or Muslim-looking people in the USA
have experienced a significant increase in hostility and hate violence. The anti-Muslim
hate crimes have affected the lives of these people of color in significant ways. In this
article I seek to recover part of the post-September 11 experiences of American Muslims
that were obfuscated by the dominant anti-Muslim master narrative, which conflated the
Islamic faith with terrorism and constructed all Muslims as dangerous anti-American
outsiders. I explore a way of telling stories about these experiences using the expressive
power of geos.

This article states that people of color have a high death rate in the state of Texas. The high death rate could be due to lower income, the lack of access to health care, and preexisting conditions. Many people of color work in jobs that are more exposed to the virus and few work from home which is considered safer during the pandemic. Much of the deaths are tied to poverty and high populated areas. Hidalgo county, near the border of Mexico, was hit the hardest by the coronavirus. Delays in insurance and death certificates were the cause for the count being very high early on but they have since recalculated the number to 312 deaths due to the virus. The gulf of Texas was also hit hard with COVID-19. Hindsight being 20/20, we should have been tracking how to recover from the virus rather than focusing on the death toll so much.
“In 2016 an estimated 15 percent of Texans were uninsured, the highest percentage of any state and much higher than the 10 percent figure for the U.S. population as a whole” (Champagne 426). Our united states government has discussed ways to make health care available to all citizens. There are contrasted opinions amongst politicians and citizens on how it should be provided and to what extent. Another question that weighs on our government is: Should health care be a mandatory investment on each person? If the insurance is not affordable to a citizen due to poverty, then someone must pay for it in this scenario. During covid 19, I am sure that the government’s concern for lack of health insurance amongst the poor amplified across Texas. The situation in the article is logically consistent with our textbook. The government has had a concern with the lack of insurance and in the article, people died because of the lack of health care amongst the poorer U.S. citizens.
“Rural communities may be more vulnerable to disease outbreaks as they often exhibit high poverty rates and older populations with increased prevalence of comorbidities” (Holder, Katherine et al.) Comorbidities is the presence of two or more underlying conditions in one person. Holder states that increased inflammation from covid 19 also exasperates the underlying conditions which can cause death quickly in the patient. The author in this article is consistent with the first article and addresses the people that suffered with covid and due to their previous health concerns.
I helplessly watched my husband suffer through the virus along with Pneumonia in January. He does not have underlying health conditions that we are aware of and yet this virus was very scary. I scoured the internet on natural ways to add to the routine of the medications that the medical doctors provided to him. A lot of Mexican tea that consisted of garlic, rosemary, eucalyptus, and lemon was added to the routine along with me having my husband do as much walking as possible. More than anything, we prayed for God’s help. About 5 day.

The article first reviews several crises in businesses during the recent times, to define and identify the nature of a crisis. Then the anatomy of a crisis is presented schematically. Introduction
Strategic planning as a discipline has been concurrently taught and exercised in the past 40 years. This relatively new concept has been the major thrust in the management of US corporations. The art of strategic planning has helped the planners to forecast and cope with a variety of forces, issues and problems beyond their operating control. Nevertheless, all the non-foreseeable issues cannot be forecasted. Therefore, a certain productive function for the management of these issues and crises seems to be missing in a large number of companies. The strategic planning literature shows an experience curve in such forecasts, i.e. as mistakes are made, we learn from them. That is how contingency planning, scenario analysis and surprise management have evolved. The Johnson and Johnson Tylenol case, and the Union Carbide tragedy in Bhopal, India, are examples recurrently referred to in the strategic management literature. The way these two companies dealt with a crisis issue has provided us with a certain level of knowledge and experience that can be used in similar situations.
We have also learned that it is no longer a question of "if" a business will face a crisis; it is, rather, a question of "when," "what type" and "how prepared" the company is to deal with it (Mittroff et. al., 1996). Whether it is a natural disaster, such as an earthquake, tornado or flood, or a man made disaster, such as accidents, wildcat strikes or product tampering, a business will eventually face some form of crisis.
The MIR space station, built and placed in operation by the Soviet Union in 1986, had a very limited mission and encountered anticipated mechanical problems, for which the planners had devised solutions. With the infusion of $400 million by the USA to jointly operate the system, MIR faced a situation in June 1997 that was not forecasted. An unmanned cargo ship hit the spacecraft, disabling the MIR solar panels, thus affecting the airconditioning and lighting functions. This was a crisis to deal with. This paper describes a ‘simheuristic’ algorithm – one which combines simulation with
heuristics – for solving a stochastic variant of the well-known Inventory-Routing Problem.
The variant discussed here is integrated by a vehicle routing problem and several inventory
problems characterized by stochastic demands. Initial stock levels and potential stock-outs
are also considered, as well as a set of alternative refill policies for each retail center. The
goal is to find the personalized refill policies and associated routing plan that minimize, at
each single period, the expected total costs of the system, i.e., the sum of inventory and
routing costs. After motivating it, a detailed description of the problem is provided. Then,
a review of the related literature is performed and our simulation–optimization approach
is introduced. The paper presents a set of numerical experiments comparing the proposed
method against different refill strategies and discusses how total costs evolve as the level of
system uncertainty and the inventory-holding costs per unit are varied.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.

Part 2 Using the terminology and concepts you are learning for evaluating art, compare and contrast the 2 works including materials used, style, meaning, symbolism, and any other aesthetic issues. What is the form of the work? Is it a 2-dimensional or 3-dimensional work of art? What materials are used? What techniques or processes are used to create the artwork? What colors are used? Describe the use of line, shape, texture, value, color, and balance. Does the work of art have subject matter? If so, what is literally depicted?
