• Originally a San Francisco community electricity
newsletter.
• Now covers more than 450 cities worldwide.
• Hosts classified ads: housing, job posting, item
for sales, personal, services…
• To participate in forum discussion or post a
classify : easily become member with only a
required valid email address.

• Communal moderation is important.
• Community member largely moderate the sites.
• Craigslist employees focus on transactions of
housing and job posts.
• Friendly simple layout and helpful search
engine makes navigation easy.
• Craigslist is being considered to contribute
to the decline of print journalism.

blossomed into a full-fledged company.
