The document discusses trends related to data centers and cloud computing. It describes how the cloud enables more elastic enterprises, connected workers, and partner ecosystems. It also explains how data centers, computing platforms, and virtualization are both diverging and converging. The cloud is clarified in terms of architecture and operations, with private, public and hybrid cloud models emerging. Factors like grid availability and security/compliance will influence how widespread cloud adoption becomes.

Network Infrastructure Virtualization Case StudyCisco Canada
This session focuses on a customer case study in which Network Virtualization has been deployed. The focus of this session is to cover the actual business requirements of the customer involved, how Network Virtualization met those requirements, the network design that was employed, and the benefits that were derived. Introducing the session will be a brief outline of Cisco's approach to Network Virtualization design methodology. The customer case study itself will focus on a Campus Network Virtualization deployment. Presenting this case study will be Dave Zacks, a Technical Solution Architect with Cisco Systems. Attendees at this session will learn about virtualized network deployments, and how these can be used to provide unique and compelling architectural solutions, addressing both business and technical requirements.
This session will provide attendees with an overview of Enterprise Cloud Computing and how technology and service solutions from Cisco will enable to path to private cloud computing. Cloud computing is changing the economics and operations of IT. IT organizations are consolidating IT resources around consistent building blocks, virtualizing those resources to increase efficiency and flexibility, and automating service creation processes.

Cloud doesn’t change everything
Evolutionary in implementation, revolutionary in usage.
Normal IT project methodologies apply (mostly).
Leverage processes and skills you already have.
Don’t throw everything out because a small part is new.
Everything that holds up “traditional” projects will hold up your first Cloud project.
Never before have businesses and IT directors had more choice about how they consume and deliver IT services. With an established IT services market, rampant virtualization, and now Cloud – what is the best way to delivery IT? And critically, how can it be as efficient as possible? The answer for most business is to create a dynamic equilibrium between different delivery models, using the best of in house, outsourced and cloud delivered IT services in a hybrid approach. Simon Daykin, CTO of Logicalis UK, will present a hybrid delivery model, with a case study of Loughborough University where this has been implemented in practice. In t
UP2011 - Integrate the enterprise with the cloudWolfgang Schmidt
Hybrid cloud connectivity capabilities are a key enabler of the near and long term usage of cloud services. We are delighted that our proposal "Hybrid Cloud Connectivity - Integrate the Enterprise with the Cloud" has been selected by the conference review committee, for inclusion in the Virtual agenda of second annual UP2011 Conference on December 08, 2011 via Webex.
But because today is a special day - I started with a famous quote by John Lennon:
„Life is what happens to you - while you're busy making other plans.”
I remember todays day before 31 years when I was 12 years old. I was in school and someone told me that John Lennon died that day. Sad day. That’s why today is a special day.
„Life is what happens to you - while you're busy making other plans.”
Why do I mention this? Because Cloud happens to us in these days to our "IT life" and a lot of people want to wait to use the new capabilities till there is standardized interoperability and integration.
Don't wait - start today - in this presentation I show you how!
Happy to talk about the details :-)

Changing role of cloud & hosting providersPim Bilderbeek
Local cloud and hosting providers that have been busy building out their local infrastructure either will remain distinctly local and provide their own private, hybrid and public cloud offerings, or forge alliances with global cloud providers to complement their own offering.
Popular examples of vendors providing public cloud services always include the likes of Salesforce, Amazon, Google and Microsoft. But there are also many Dutch companies that are selling public cloud services successfully today. This research document provides a look at who’s who in the Dutch SaaS, PaaS and IaaS world.

Effective Application Security in Software Delivery lifecycle using Deployment Firewall and DBOM
The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).
Speakers:
Bob Boule
Robert Boule is a technology enthusiast with PASSION for technology and making things work along with a knack for helping others understand how things work. He comes with around 20 years of solution engineering experience in application security, software continuous delivery, and SaaS platforms. He is known for his dynamic presentations in CI/CD and application security integrated in software delivery lifecycle.

Gopi is a frequent speaker and well-known leader in continuous delivery and integrating security into software delivery.
Why You Should Replace Windows 11 with Nitrux Linux 3.5.0 for enhanced perfor...SOFTTECHHUB
The choice of an operating system plays a pivotal role in shaping our computing experience. For decades, Microsoft's Windows has dominated the market, offering a familiar and widely adopted platform for personal and professional use. However, as technological advancements continue to push the boundaries of innovation, alternative operating systems have emerged, challenging the status quo and offering users a fresh perspective on computing.
One such alternative that has garnered significant attention and acclaim is Nitrux Linux 3.5.0, a sleek, powerful, and user-friendly Linux distribution that promises to redefine the way we interact with our devices. With its focus on performance, security, and customization, Nitrux Linux presents a compelling case for those seeking to break free from the constraints of proprietary software and embrace the freedom and flexibility of open-source computing.
Epistemic Interaction - tuning interfaces to provide information for AI supportAlan Dix
Paper presented at SYNERGY workshop at AVI 2024, Genoa, Italy. 3rd June 2024
https://alandix.com/academic/papers/synergy2024-epistemic/
As machine learning integrates deeper into human-computer interactions, the concept of epistemic interaction emerges, aiming to refine these interactions to enhance system adaptability. This approach encourages minor, intentional adjustments in user behaviour to enrich the data available for system learning. This paper introduces epistemic interaction within the context of human-system communication, illustrating how deliberate interaction design can improve system understanding and adaptation. Through concrete examples, we demonstrate the potential of epistemic interaction to significantly advance human-computer interaction by leveraging intuitive human communication strategies to inform system design and functionality, offering a novel pathway for enriching user-system engagements.
