Endometrial polyps are benign overgrowths of the endometrial lining that can cause abnormal uterine bleeding. While most polyps are benign, some may contain atypia or cancer. Risk factors include hormone therapy and obesity. Polyps are typically diagnosed through ultrasound, hysteroscopy, or biopsy and removed hysteroscopically. Removal relieves symptoms and allows evaluation to rule out cancer. Polyps do not generally affect fertility or pregnancy outcomes.
