Through the church, God's wisdom is made known to spiritual authorities. According to God's eternal plan accomplished through Jesus Christ, the church plays a key role in revealing God's wisdom.
The document discusses three things the church conveys: 1) The good deeds we do that allow our light to shine before others. 2) The attitude we convey that should be like salt, preserving and enhancing. 3) The price we pay, with Paul filling up what is lacking in Christ's afflictions for the sake of the church.

Jesus criticizes the hypocrisy of the teachers of the law and Pharisees. He says they impose heavy burdens on others but do not lift a finger to help themselves. Jesus then delivers a series of "woes", criticizing the Pharisees for shutting people out of heaven, exploiting others for money and status, focusing on outward appearances over inner purity, and claiming to honor the prophets while participating in killing them. Jesus calls for focusing first on internal cleansing before worrying about external appearances.

The document contains several Bible verses about finding rest and fulfillment in God rather than material possessions or worries. It encourages seeking God's kingdom through prayer like Jesus, not worrying about adding time to one's life, and knowing that one cannot serve both God and money, as our soul is worth more than gaining the whole world.
What is truth? To many, it is whatever they believe it to be. Christians should want to know the truth as God has revealed it. Here are some thoughts on common lies and deceptions that can devastate a Christian's relationship with God, from the morning worship lesson on January 24, 2016 at the Highland Heights church of Christ.
Jesus calls the church to be multi-site, multi-generational, and multi-ethnic. The passage references Jesus building his church and giving Peter the keys to the kingdom of heaven. It discusses being witnesses in Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria, and to the ends of the earth. Jesus asks who Peter says he is and if they will follow him, referencing taking up one's cross daily to die to oneself as the cross of a disciple.
The document discusses the events surrounding the fall of Western Rome in 476 AD and the rise of the Papacy in its place, including Odoacer becoming the first barbarian king of Italy, the conversion of Clovis the Frank to Catholicism which supported the Papacy, and the removal of three Arian kingdoms (Vandals, Heruli, Ostrogoths) to pave the way for the Papacy's rise to power.

The document discusses the fulfillment of Bible prophecies during the French Revolution:
1) Revelation 11 prophesied that a power would rise and "make war" on the Bible, which was fulfilled when France publicly prohibited the Bible during the revolution.
2) For three and a half years the "witnesses" (the Bible) "lay dead" in France, but were then tolerated again, fulfilling the prophecy of the witnesses standing on their feet.
3) As the Bible's influence grew globally after this, it fulfilled the call to "come up hither" in Revelation 11:12.
4) The social upheaval and destruction during the revolution, particularly of the nobility, fulfilled prophe
The document discusses how God seeks a church after His own heart that is obedient through love rather than confrontation. It provides examples from Jesus, Aquila and Priscilla, Stephen, and Paul on how to prioritize obedience to God, encouragement over confrontation, helping people through acts of service, and faithful outreach balanced with faithfulness to God's commands. The overall message is that God desires His church to be faithful in every way through balanced, Christ-like living.
LDS Sunday School Lesson 13: “I Will Give unto Thee the Keys of the Kingdom” covering:
a. Matthew 15:21–39. Jesus heals the daughter of a Gentile woman and miraculously feeds more than 4,000 people, many of them Gentiles.
b. Matthew 16:13–19. Peter testifies that Jesus is the Christ. Jesus teaches that his Church is built upon the rock of revelation and promises to give Peter the keys of the kingdom.
c. Matthew 17:1–9. Jesus is transfigured before Peter, James, and John.
Paul prays that the Ephesians would be strengthened internally through God's Spirit so that Christ may dwell in their hearts through faith. He wants them to understand the breadth of Christ's love and be filled with all the fullness of God's power. Paul concludes by praising God for being able to do infinitely more than anyone could ask or imagine through his power working within believers.
The document discusses the campaigns of Genseric and the Vandals from 419-456 AD and Attila and the Huns from 432-453 AD in relation to Bible prophecy and the seven trumpets. It summarizes how Genseric conquered North Africa and then sacked Rome in 455 AD, destroying much of the Western Roman Empire through naval battles. It also discusses how Attila ravaged parts of Europe from the Danube to the Baltic and was known as "the Scourge of God" for bringing destruction. The document shows how these events increased the political influence of the Papacy, as Pope Leo was able to negotiate with both Genseric and Attila to spare Rome from complete destruction.
There is no one so poor as the wealthy man who puts all his trust in riches. We are human beings! God doesn't judge us based on our possessions. Riches make terrible masters but awesome servants!
This document discusses the concept of Hell and argues that it is a real place of eternal suffering that people will truly go to after death if they do not accept salvation through faith in Jesus Christ. Several Bible passages are referenced to support the claims that Hell is real, involves gnashing of teeth and eternal fire, and that people can escape this fate by being justified through faith in Jesus and his sacrifice on the cross.
This document provides an overview and commentary on the book of Ephesians. It begins by summarizing Paul's journey to Rome and imprisonment there where he likely wrote Ephesians. It then discusses details about the letter itself, including that it was delivered by Tychicus and addressed issues relevant for both Jews and Gentiles. The document outlines the main themes of Ephesians as the supremacy of God, His gospel, and the dignity and identity of His Church. It analyzes passages about the roles and duties of apostles, prophets, families, husbands, wives, parents, children, and individuals in the Church. Overall, the document examines the key messages and doctrines taught in Ephesians.
The document discusses the seven trumpets from the book of Revelation. It provides historical context for the first five trumpets, linking them to major events in the fall of the Western Roman Empire between the 4th and 5th centuries AD. These include the conversion of Constantine, the building of Constantinople, and the division of the empire among Constantine's sons after his death. It argues that the first four trumpets refer specifically to the fall of the Western divisions of Rome. The last three trumpets deal with the rise of Islam, demise of the Eastern Roman Empire and papal rule, and the final battle between God and Babylon.
The document discusses the causes that led to the French Revolution and warns that similar conditions are developing worldwide. It notes the centralization of wealth and power into the hands of a few, resulting in poverty and oppression of the masses. This sparks unrest, riots, and calls for workers to unite in defense. The same philosophies that fueled the French Revolution, such as rejection of God's law, are spreading globally and threaten to plunge the world into similar turmoil and conflict. Unless these underlying issues are addressed, the world will experience a time of trouble on a scale not seen since nations were established.

The document contains prayers asking God to strengthen believers with spiritual power so that Christ may dwell in their hearts through faith. It asks that believers may have the power to understand the breadth of Christ's love and be filled with the fullness of God. The concluding prayer praises God for being able to do infinitely more than anyone could ask or imagine according to God's power at work within believers.

Jesus entered the temple in Jerusalem and drove out those who were buying and selling there. He overturned tables and benches, and would not allow merchandise to be carried through the temple courts. Jesus taught that the temple should be a house of prayer for all nations, not a den of robbers. The chief priests and teachers of the law wanted to kill Jesus because they feared his teaching and the crowds' amazement at his teaching.
Paul came to the brothers in Corinth not with eloquent speech or wisdom, but to preach only about Jesus Christ and him crucified. He did so with weakness, fear, and trembling, relying on the power of the Spirit rather than persuasive words. His goal was for their faith to rest in the power of God rather than human wisdom.

This document contains excerpts from the Bible describing Jesus Christ's birth and ministry. It begins with John's vision of Jesus in Revelation 1. It then describes the angel Gabriel appearing to Mary and telling her she will give birth to Jesus, the Son of God. Mary visits her relative Elizabeth, who confirms the miraculous nature of Mary's conception. Mary responds with praise and acceptance of God's will. The document emphasizes living in relationship with God and the great things he can accomplish.
1. The passage discusses focusing on the cross of Jesus Christ rather than circumcision or other rules. Through the cross, the author has been freed from pleasing others and set apart for God's new creation.
2. It says all who walk by this standard are God's chosen people and deserve peace. The author wants to focus on seriously living their faith rather than disputes.
3. The author bears scars from serving Jesus in their body.

The document contrasts politicians and problem solvers across several dimensions. Politicians prioritize power and money over critical reasoning, using tools of political power rather than logic and mathematics. They focus on elite service, opacity/secrecy, and maintaining the status quo, while problem solvers emphasize customer service, transparency, and continuous improvement/innovation. The document asks who the reader will vote for.

The document discusses building on the foundation of Jesus Christ. It states that each person's work will be tested by fire to reveal its quality, and rewards or losses will be given based on whether the work survives. It then criticizes the Corinthians for acting like infants in how they deal with each other and God, being content only when things go their way and claiming allegiance to different leaders. The summary urges building on God's field and house rather than acting as a vandal.
Peter and John were going to the temple for prayer when they encountered a lame man begging at the Beautiful Gate. Peter healed the man in the name of Jesus, and the man began walking, leaping, and praising God. Witnesses recognized the man and were amazed by his healing.

The document discusses key indicators of a country's macro environment including gross domestic product, GDP deflator, consumer price index, sectoral shares of the economy, savings and investment rates, inflation rates, money supply, foreign trade, foreign exchange reserves, economic infrastructure, and social indicators; it also discusses factors that influence a country's competitiveness globally such as availability of skilled managers, total quality management practices, and treatment of labor.
The document summarizes the mission that Jesus gave to the 12 disciples when he first sent them out to preach. They were instructed to focus on the lost sheep of Israel and preach that the kingdom of heaven was at hand. They were given power to perform healings and exorcisms. Later, after Jesus' resurrection, the disciples continued preaching to wider audiences, including Gentiles. The document discusses the requirements for salvation during the tribulation period, noting it will involve both faith and works through obedience to God's commandments.
Luke was a physician and close friend of the Apostle Paul who wrote the Gospel of Luke and the book of Acts. The book of Acts details the early Christian church following Jesus' ascension. It describes how the apostles performed signs and wonders and many people believed. However, this led the Jewish leaders to become jealous and imprison the apostles. An angel freed them and instructed them to continue preaching, which they did despite being flogged. The Pharisee Gamaliel advised leaving the apostles alone, saying their movement was of God and could not be stopped. The book of Acts illustrates the opposition and persecution faced by the early Christians but also their persistence in preaching the gospel.
The document discusses Luke's gospel and the book of Acts, and how Luke builds a bridge connecting the Old Testament to Jesus and then from Jesus to Paul. It summarizes that in Luke, Jesus is presented as the Davidic King who fulfills prophecies and establishes the kingdom of God through his role as Savior. Acts then continues the theme by showing Jesus commissioning the apostles with the Holy Spirit to preach the gospel and spread the kingdom to the ends of the earth.

Paul defends his preaching of the gospel to King Agrippa. He tells of his obedience to God's calling despite persecution from Jews. Paul states he is proclaiming what the prophets foretold about the suffering and resurrection of Christ. When accused of being out of his mind, Paul insists he is speaking rationally. He invites Agrippa to become a Christian. Biblical stewardship involves obedience, sacrifice and trust in God as exemplified by Paul and his supporters in preaching the gospel.
Jesus dines with tax collectors and sinners at Matthew's house, drawing criticism from the Pharisees. He defends his actions by saying that those who are sick need a doctor, not the righteous, and that he has come to call sinners to repentance. Jesus also explains that his disciples do not fast because fasting is inappropriate while the bridegroom is present, referring to himself, but that a time will come when he is taken away and fasting will be suitable. He uses metaphors of patching old garments and putting new wine in old wineskins to illustrate that his teachings require a new approach, not just reforming the old religious system.
The apostles performed many signs and wonders which led to many people believing in Jesus. However, this made the high priest and Sadducees jealous, so they arrested the apostles. An angel freed the apostles from prison and told them to continue preaching. When brought before the high priest, Peter declared they must obey God rather than men. Gamaliel advised not interfering if what they taught came from God, which the council followed, flogging the apostles and commanding them not to preach in Jesus' name. The apostles continued preaching daily in the temple and from house to house.
The passage from Malachi 3:1-5 describes how the Lord will send a messenger to prepare the way for him. When the Lord comes, he will purify his people like refining silver to remove impurities. Those who do not repent of sins like sorcery, adultery, perjury, fraud, oppression of widows and orphans, and injustice against foreigners will face God's judgment. The Lord calls the people to fear him and bring righteous offerings.
The document contains multiple Bible passages about purification and cleansing. It discusses how God will purify the Levites like refining silver to make their sacrifices acceptable again. It also references passages about finding rest in God and being called out of darkness into his light. The document concludes by asking God to create a clean heart and put a right spirit within.
The document discusses the use of pronouns like "it" and "he" when referring to the Holy Spirit. It notes that the Holy Spirit is sometimes referred to as "it" because it does not have a physical body. The document also discusses biblical passages about God's increasing punishments against Israel in multiples of seven for disobeying his commandments. It explores the concept of a "week" in biblical time periods and God's requirements for Israel to confess their sins.
1) Jesus appeared to his disciples after his resurrection and commanded them to go into all the world and make disciples by teaching, baptizing, and obeying all that he had taught.
2) He gave them authority and power through the Holy Spirit to be his witnesses from Jerusalem to the ends of the earth.
3) The disciples were motivated by witnessing Jesus' empty tomb and his appearances over 40 days, which proved his resurrection and authority over all things.
Christ testifies about John the Baptist to crowds and his disciples. He asks three rhetorical questions about what people went to see John for: a reed shaken by the wind, a man in soft clothes, or a prophet. Christ says John is more than a prophet and fulfills the prophecy of preparing the way for the Lord. He says among men, no one is greater than John, but the least in God's kingdom is greater. Christ testifies that John was like Elijah to turn people to God in preparation for Christ.
An Intruder at Dinner- Matt 22

II. How is the Intruder Tried? (v. 12)
III. How does the intruder respond? (v. 12)
IV. How is the Intruder Sentenced? (v. 13)
The Lord Jesus has commissioned each of us to be His witnesses with the power of the Holy Spirit. We are to witness with the way we live and with what we say. We are to demonstrate the power and love of the Lord!

Luke builds a bridge connecting the Old Testament to the New Testament through Jesus and the early church. In the Gospel of Luke, Jesus is presented as the promised Messiah and King who establishes God's kingdom through his teachings, miracles, death and resurrection. Luke then continues the story in Acts, showing how the apostles preached about Jesus and the kingdom after he ascended to heaven. The overarching theme is that God has fulfilled his plan to redeem Israel through sending Christ as the Savior and rightful heir to David's throne.
The document discusses the oneness of God in Islam and various monotheistic faiths. It provides verses from the Quran and Bible affirming that God is one and has no partners. Jesus is described as a prophet according to both Islamic and Christian scripture. The document emphasizes that all prophets, including Abraham, Moses, Jesus and Muhammad, preached the same core message of submitting one's will to God.
The document discusses the role of the High Priest in the Torah and how Yeshua fulfills this role. It notes how the High Priest made atonement for sins, was the judge between people, and bore the names of Israel. Various passages indicate Yeshua as the final High Priest who provides forgiveness and salvation. The document argues Yeshua acted as High Priest even on the cross by interceding for Israel with God.

This document discusses the importance of being built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets. It contrasts the timid nature of the early disciples with the boldness of the apostles who healed in power and were faithful even to martyrdom. 2) The Bible teaches to build our lives on the rock of God's word through prayer, fellowship, fasting, giving and intercession.
3) When our lives are built on God, we will stand firm like a house built on a rock during difficulties.

2) It describes Jesus giving Peter the keys to the kingdom of heaven and the power to bind and loose on earth and in heaven. It says this gives believers power over their words to create and declare things into being.
3) Most of the document consists of commentary on and excerpts from Isaiah 61, describing the spirit of the Lord anointing believers to proclaim good news, freedom, healing and favor. It says this proclamation will result in rebuilding ruined places and inner healing.

It then quotes Matthew 28:19-20 about making disciples by baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit and teaching them all that Jesus commanded. It relates the Father to faith as authority, the Son to hope in serving, and the Holy Spirit to love which enables properly stewarding authority and serving others.

This document discusses Joseph's journey from being sold into slavery by his brothers to becoming the second in command of Egypt. It describes Joseph's dreams that predicted his future leadership, his brothers' jealousy that led them to throw him in a pit, and how he was then sold as a slave. Even as a slave, God was with Joseph and he rose to a position of power in Potiphar's household. However, he was falsely accused and imprisoned. While in prison, he correctly interpreted dreams, though the cupbearer forgot about him. Years later, Pharaoh had dreams that only Joseph could interpret, leading to Joseph being appointed to a high role in Egypt.

Lucid Dreaming: Understanding the Risks and Benefits
The ability to control one's dreams or for the dreamer to be aware that he or she is dreaming. This process, called lucid dreaming, has some potential risks as well as many fascinating benefits. However, many people are hesitant to try it initially for fear of the potential dangers. This article aims to clarify these concerns by exploring both the risks and benefits of lucid dreaming.
The Benefits of Lucid Dreaming
Lucid dreaming allows a person to take control of their dream world, helping them overcome their fears and eliminate nightmares. This technique is particularly useful for mental health. By taking control of their dreams, individuals can face challenging scenarios in a controlled environment, which can help reduce anxiety and increase self-confidence.
Addressing Common Concerns
Physical Harm in Dreams Lucid dreaming is fundamentally safe. In a lucid dream, everything is a creation of your mind. Therefore, nothing in the dream can physically harm you. Despite the vividness and realness of the dream experience, it remains entirely within your mental landscape, posing no physical danger.
Mental Health Risks Concerns about developing PTSD or other mental illnesses from lucid dreaming are unfounded. As soon as you wake up, it's clear that the events experienced in the dream were not real. On the contrary, lucid dreaming is often seen as a therapeutic tool for conditions like PTSD, as it allows individuals to reframe and manage their thoughts.
Potential Risks of Lucid Dreaming
While generally safe, lucid dreaming does come with a few risks as well:
Mixing Dream Memories with Reality Long-term lucid dreamers might occasionally confuse dream memories with real ones, creating false memories. This issue is rare and preventable by maintaining a dream journal and avoiding lucid dreaming about real-life people or places too frequently.
Escapism Using lucid dreaming to escape reality can be problematic if it interferes with your daily life. While it is sometimes beneficial to escape and relieve the stress of reality, relying on lucid dreaming for happiness can hinder personal growth and productivity.
Feeling Tired After Lucid Dreaming Some people report feeling tired after lucid dreaming. This tiredness is not due to the dreams themselves but often results from not getting enough sleep or using techniques that disrupt sleep patterns. Taking breaks and ensuring adequate sleep can prevent this.
Mental Exhaustion Lucid dreaming can be mentally taxing if practiced excessively without breaks. It’s important to balance lucid dreaming with regular sleep to avoid mental fatigue.
Lucid dreaming is safe and beneficial if done with caution. It has many benefits, such as overcoming fear and improving mental health, and minimal risks. There are many resources and tutorials available for those interested in trying it.

This lecture created by Brandon Taylorian (aka Cometan) specially for the CESNUR Conference held Bordeaux in June 2024 provides a brief introduction to the legacy of religious and philosophical thought that Astronism emerges from, namely the discourse on transcension started assuredly by the Cosmists in Russia in the mid-to-late nineteenth century and then carried on and developed by Mordecai Nessyahu in Cosmodeism in the twentieth century. Cometan also then provides some detail on his story in founding Astronism in the early twenty-first century from 2013 along with details on the central Astronist doctrine of transcension. Finally, the lecture concludes with some contributions made by space religions and space philosophy and their influences on various cultural facets in art, literature and film.
