Swot Approaches Of Strategic Human Resource Management Essay
Essay: SHRM Approaches Analyzing Case Study
Introduction
Strategic human resource management (SHRM) is a design and an approach for managing the
companies human resources and the needs of their employees along with goals of the company, it
requires thinking ahead and making the new ways for the organization to meet requirements of
their employees and the employees should fulfil the requirements of the organization as well as
achieving the sustainable competitive advantages(Bratton Gold,2012).The SHRM has three
approachesuniversal approach, contingency approach configurationally approach, but in this
essay there is a review of only two major approaches i.e. universal and contingency along with
their strengths and limitation as well as how these approaches are applicable in different contexts.
Next we will analyze the SHRM approaches used by Google and what were it fails and how it is
supporting SHRM.
Major SHRM Approaches
Universal Approach
The universal approach, also commonly referred to as the best practice approach, to SHRM posits
that some human resources practices are always better than others, and that all organizations should
adopt these best practices (Jamali and Afiouni, 2012).The main logic is that the entire organisation
can see improvements in work performance but only after identifying the best practice and
implementing it. The most eminent model in universal approach is by Pfeffer (1994), who
contended that practices such as incentive pay,

Cannibalism In A Modest Proposal
Cannibalism is known throughout the world as a morbid taboo. Many critically acclaimed
articles, satirical essays, informational books have given their own view on the subject of
cannibalism. While there are a plethora of authors sharing their views on cannibalism with their
pieces of work, most pale in comparison to these two pieces; A Modest Proposal by Jonathan
Swift, and Eating your friends is the hardest by James Henslin. When comparing and contrasting
these two pieces of astounding work, one must go over all of the facts and statements to fully
comprehend what both authors are trying to convey in their respective pieces. In A Modest
Proposal , the author Jonathan Swift cleverly begins the piece by painting a scene where a street

Coffee Is The Best Beans Essay
Coffee connoisseurs love nothing more than a cup of freshly brewed coffee. There was a time
when getting the best beans and roasting them at home was not possible for everyone. With the
advent of sophisticated coffee machines, it is now possible for everyone roast the coffee in the
comfort of their homes. But there s still the problem of getting the best beans. Not everyone is
aware or has experience on how to buy the best coffeebeans. If you love your coffee and love to
roast the beans at home then you need to find best beans. Coffee beans are of different types
depending on their grade and the place where they were grown. Another factor that affects the
coffee taste is the freshness of the beans. You must buy the freshest beans and not the ones that
have been stored in a warehouse for number of years. While buying coffee beans, the first thing
you must look for is their grade and the place where they were grown. The most popular and
commonly available beans are Costa Rican Tarrazu, Kenya AA, Guatemalan Antigua, Ethiopian
Yirgacheffe, Brazilian Santos, Sumatra Mandheling, Mexican Altura, Jamaican Blue Mountain,
Colombian Supremo and Tanzanian Peaberry. All these beans are rich in aroma and flavour and
are named after the place where they were grown. The taste differs and depends on the climate,
soil and height at which the beans were grown. If you are not familiar with all the bean types, you
may want to try them at your local cafГ©. The next thing you must decide is

Reform Judaism As Liberal And Progressive Judaism
Reform Judaism also known as Liberal and Progressive Judaism is the large institutionalized
religion that I chose. The locations that Reform Judaism is practiced in are 43 countries around the
world and started in the Levant. They also have a headquarters in New York City, New York the
Union for Reform Judaism, Central Conference of American Rabbis. Reform Judaism emerged
following the emancipation from ghetto life in the late 18 th century. It sought to modernize
Judaism and thus stem the tide of assimilation threatening German Jewry (Jews for Jesus).
Abraham Geiger is considered to be the founder of the Reform movement. While he was
investigating Jewish history he discovered that many of the old practices were changed in favor of
new ones. Geiger also felt that the more changes that are made to keep up with the times will make
Judaism attractive to all Jews. OlmecReligionwas the small traditional religion that I chose. The
location that the Olmec Religion was practiced in the Gulf of Mexico which is now the states of
Tabasco and Veracruz, but their influence spread to as far as present day Nicaragua. Since the
Olmec civilization was so long ago lasting between 1200 B.C. to 400 B.C. there is not much
information on how the religion started but this was the first major Mesoamerican culture.

Internet Is A Global System Of Interconnected Computer...
Internet is a global system of interconnected computer systems. The internet, as we see today,
allows low cost anonymous communication. The advance in technology has led to faster
communications. For example the change of dependency from postal service to much faster e
mails, online banking, social networking etc. Everything is now at our fingertips. We can now sit
at the comfort of our homes and do certain tasks which were earlier time consuming. Today
business has easier global access due to Internet. It is cost effective and almost all the functions can
be automated to make it easier and faster. Even communication has become cheaper and faster. But
as Dr.Leonard Kleinrockstated, these benefits are a perfect combination to do bad things... Show

This stage is not yet reached, but the growing needs for more customer friendly, easily accessible
and device independent technology is pushing these developments.
He has also expressed his views on Nomadic Computing which means that the Internet would be
accessible for all devices anywhere and anytime. The Internet, at present, is accessible anywhere
and anytime, but we are still to work on all devices being able to plug in on the Internet. Internet
was made with the assumption of a fixed desktop usage. Dr. Klienrock expresses his concern
about no availability of an IT administrator to look up the network issues personally when one is
on the go i.e travelling, which involves switching between networks at different areas. His solution
for this problem is a portable system support administrator for trouble free internet service on any
network that one can connect to and is available round the clock at anyplace for any device.
His vision includes Smart Spaces. As explained by him, Smart Spaces is the concept of bringing
cyberspace out of one s machine out in to our physical world. He foresees the Internet being able to
automate everything to make life easier by making all appliances able to communicate to each other
and also to the customer. He says this embedded technology is possible by installing thousands of
processors per human which can communicate, has memory sensors, cameras, microphones,

Essay on Jasper Jones by Craig Silvey
After having a thorough read of the novel Jasper Jones by Craig Silvey, I have come to understand
the powerful effects of using written codes and conventions in novels. Silvey s impressive piece of
literature was carefully constructed through techniques such as characterization, socio cultural
context, themes and intertexuality. By doing this, Silvey was accredited for convincing the
readers, appealing to their emotions and manipulating their beliefs and values to accept or agree
with his opinions on the issue covered in the novel. Characters play a major role in ensuring that
the novels can be read and comprehended. However, the success of a novel is dependent on the
quality of characterization and whether they will attract the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The community also had issues with Vietnamese immigrants due to their different physical
features and the crisis Vietnam was in. For instance, Jeffrey and his family were harassed and
Mr. Lu was beaten by four drunken men. The messages are being conveyed as themes in the
novel and Silvey aims to inform Australians of the consequences for our actions. He explored
ideas of racism and discrimination, inequality, injustice and alcoholism. In the novel, Charlie is
distressed to find both of his friends being insulted and abused for the nationality. For example,
Jasper is blames for Laura s death and for every conflict he is held as scapegoat. In Jeffrey s case,
his family is looked down upon and their reputation as humans is disregarded and degraded.
Silvey is trying to highlight the stupidity of the people and show the importance of giving
everyone a fair go. Jasper Jones has strong intertextual links to an all time favourite but a
complex novel to understand, To kill a mocking bird by Harper Lee. In fact Silvey wrote Jasper
Jones as an easier and modern version of To Kill a Mocking Bird. Many of the characters have
parallel personalities and some of the main ideas were the same. Both deal with racism and
discrimination in small country towns, both explore the distant relation between law and justice,
and both, Jasper Jones and TKAMB create a world of moral opposites

My disappointment in him may have startled him because he turned on the radio that sits on my

husband likes the oldies channel, he says that This is real music, sexy baby making music. He
leaves it on 94.3 F.M. classic oldies all the time. I agree with him, black artist like Ella Louis,
King of blues Mile Davis and Aretha Franklin are the unsung genius who created their own unique
American style of music by having to compile serious of musical lyrics. One night, with these

jump right on him. Welcome to my arms, he said as his arms were stretched out to welcome me.
I knew what kind of night I would have. Sex with him was usually the same, about five minutes
of foreplay and then he d take me from behind before falling off into a deep sleep. I didn t
complain because I knew he was usually tired from meetings. But for once and after my entire

all signs pointed to us having a terrific future together. So there was plenty of time to discuss our
sexual needs later in life. As I lay there, reminiscing in the aftershock of the bad sex that my
husband gave me, my tormentor gave me another surprise. He called me by my birth/government

Glorification Of Violence Analysis
The glorification of violence is present in both epics and has value to their respective societies.
Using his lance first, the Cid got his hand on the sword, he killed so many Moors you could not
have counted them, the blood was streaming from the arm above his elbow. The violence of their
battles showed the value in their society of how fighting for your Lordan honorable act was and
that it is expected that violence will occur. The bishop, don JerГіnimo, the mitered man of merit,
when he had finished his hand to hand combats, he could not count the number of Moors he d
killed. The glorification of violence is a value of the Cid society that even a clergyman had been
involved in the gruesome part of war that he could no longer keep count of all those he had killed.

The Cid had wanted to protect his daughters, however, his conflicting value of loyalty caused a
problem with his other value of the first submission. Whatever is left, give to my wife and
daughters; ask that they pray for me by day and by night, and if I live, I ll give them enough yet to
see them wealthy. The Cid would give his daughters riches so they could live comfortably without
having to worry about anything. The second submission is the relationship between a husband and
his wife. Seeing him approach, doГ±a Jimena threw herself at his feet: Grace, O Campeador!
Bless the hour you girded on sword! You ve saved me many a sore trial, my Lordand now you
see me here with both your daughters. The value of a wife respecting their husband is never
more prevalent than this when the wife literally falls at the feet of her husband. This shows the
role women play during medieval Spanish. The third and final submission is the widow to male
relative submission. In the case of the Cid, he is leaving to go to war and he wants someone to
watch over them when he s away. I leave you my two daughters, keep them safe, don Sancho, both
of them and my wife, care for all

Access To Justice
With the demise of the apartheid in 1994 and the implementation of the Constitution in 1996, it
brought with it the concept of access to justice for all citizens of South Africa. The notion itself
has developed and evolved beyond the preconceived idea of access to courts but encompasses one
s access to legal and state services, social, economic and environmental justiceas well.
Although Section 34 of the Constitution provides that anyone with a dispute may seek justice by
bringing the dispute to court with Section 35, from which Legal Aid South Africaderived its
mandate, enforcing that those arrested, detained or accused has the right to a fair trial which
includes the right to have a legal practitioner assigned by the State and at the expense of the State,
justice is tied directly to political and economic position, power and wealth. Thus, for many South

In this sense, emphasis was placed on the rehabilitation of first time offenders by making use of the
NICRO program.
Moreover, the notion of access to justice went as far as access to education for those unaware of
their legal rights and duties. When the question of the quality of Legal Aid attorneys was raised, the
Justice commented that private attorneys are often unprepared as they do not consult their clients.
Or they make use of stall tactics to increase their service fees.
Another issue raised was the ignorance of one s rights being as a contributor to the lack of access
to justice for many people. It is understood that people do not seek redress on account of being
unaware of their rights provided in the Bill of Rights. Conversely, multiple offenders who are more

Psychodynamic Theories Of Personality Analysis
Briefly define personality (beginning of chapter).
Burton, western Kowaslki (2015) describes Personality as the enduring patterns of thought, feeling,
motivation and behaviour that are expressed in different circumstances. In other words it can be
defined as differences in characteristics in a person, including their way of thinking, likes, dislikes,
sociability, openness, feelings and behaviour, which make them the person they are and
differentiates them from others. All these traits when brought together is known to be the
personality of that particular person.

The Chinese Martial Arts Film
Most Martial arts films in China generally tend to foreground issues of gender. In addition, these
films portray a fixed line of gender separation. The Chinese Martial arts film culture has always
been more receptive to the general idea of the female character in what Westerners would indeed
consider exclusively male role such as the action hero (Castillo 3). In the martial art films several
actress have even established their entire reputations as action stars. The action heroes were also
held up as the idea of masculinity with all of its inherent characteristics of control, privilege and
agency. This is actually adopted from the western archetypes of male action hero which emphasize
connotations of physical presence and prominent body musculature. The emergence of the Chinese
martial artshas resulted to convergence of social, economic and political pressures that along with
creative talents of producers, writers, actors and directors, have indeed forged a national cinema
that captured attention of the world wide cinematic consciousness. Majority of the Chinese martial
arts movies are distinctively known in cultivating the concept of genderroles. A close analysis of
these movies ultimately portrays that multiple characters from the both genders not only play an
immense role in the martial arts aspect of the films, but indeed symbolize Chinese themes as well
as some of the issues that the country was going through at that particular time. In these regard, in

Sparta Strengths And Weaknesses
Education in Sparta: Did the Strengths Outweigh the Weaknesses?
Would you like to be neglected just because you weren t strong? That is what a Spartan kid would
undergo. Sparta is a small city state located in Peloponnese, Greece. The Spartan civilization was
established in 900 BCE Despite its early foundation, it lived fairly peacefully until the Persians and
the Athenians came along and tried to invade Sparta. Sparta had to endure the assaults, and they had
to fight to survive. Due to this, the education was based on the body strength and physical
toughness. Until the fall of the empire, the education was essentially the same. Questioning if the
strengths outweighed the weaknesses seems like a fair question to ask. After evaluating both ...

High levels of physical fitness was desired even before a child is born. Several Spartan kids get
neglected and ignored if they do not meet the strength and physical requirements under the Agoge
s training. Young women are often trained at wrestling, physical strength, and running so that their
children will grow to become strong as well. If the child was male, the child was taken away from
his parents at the astonishing age of seven to be controlled and trained by the government s agoge.
Any sort of footwear wasn t allowed, nor extra clothing. They were given insubstantial food to show
them how it is to go on with an empty stomach. Once the children left the agoge, most of them went
on to be great soldiers in the army forces. The men who have the strength and ability to, go forward
to expand their specialization in strength and got on to the army. The stress that the Spartan
government puts onto physical strength is stunning. It takes 14 long and exhausting years to
complete the training in order to become a soldier. Most people volunteered at the ages of seven
which was the starting, until twenty one. At the early time when the education system switched to
focus on the body, the world, not only Sparta, was getting attacks and invasions from outsiders and

Gateways To Art Analysis
The figure 1.120 on page 123 of Gateways to Art depicts a 3 dimensional piece of art called
Monogram. Inside the work includes mixed media with taxidermy goat, rubber tire, and a tennis
ball. The work was done by Robert Rauschenberg from Sweden. There is strong emphasis on the
goat, making it the focal point of the mass. The installation of the tire is wrapped around the
goat s torso, while the goat is mounted onto the center of the wood frame. The size of the work
is monumental compared to other works of art. The subordination of the painted half of the
work prevents the viewer from looking at the plain pieces of wood. The span of the mount
stretches diagonally across the frame. The addition of red paint brings a sense of luminosity to
the work. There are illuminated letters printed of the wood pieces that draws attention to the left
half of the piece. The text says Rauschenberg created the work as a symbol of himself as a rebel
and outcast. The goat relates to a religious perspective as goats used to be offered as a sacrifice by
Christians to God. This work was so odd at the time because it was not a sculpture or painting,
making it unique in its own way. The figure 1.81... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Occupy Wall Street Movement
The Occupy Movement is an international activist movement that fosters social and economic
change and originated from the actions of the Occupy Wall Street movement (source #7). The
focus is on the Occupy Wall Street movement that was launched on September 17th 2011 and
was catalysed by Adbusters activist Micah White. White created a web page about the
corruption that was happening surrounding the financial crisis in the United States leading to the
most recent recession. Large corporations based in the area of Wall Street have a great deal of
wealth and in turn considerable influence on the democratic process. This particular occupy
movement is motivated by the revolutionary protests in Egypt and Tunisia. The American
protestors were convinced they could have an effect on the government through their protests.
What this means is 1 percent of the population holds 35 percent of all stock and the other 99%
marginally less (Source #3). Holding this much wealth this 1% has a great influence on
democratic decision making. The official website for the occupy Wall Street movement puts it
best saying: aims to fight back against the richest 1% of people that are writing the rules of an
unfair global economy (source #2). The procedure of the Occupy Wall Street movement is quite
simple. White outlines on her web page how she wanted 20,000 people to occupy Zuccotti Park
near Wall Street. The protestor s occupied the square, made signs and chanted messages like We are

Why I Am Researching A Construction Worker

Construction Worker 1.The career that I am researching is a construction worker. I am interested
in this occupation because ever since I was a little kid, construction seemed like it would be
something that might be fun. It also would be cool to see a building slowly rise, or even fall. That
is why I am researching a construction worker. 2.There are many responsibilities for this career.
Those responsibilities consist of building, demolishing, cleaning an area for preparation of building
something. You may also be digging holes or operating heavy machinery on this job. Some of the
large machinery or tools that construction workers use are saws, drills, blowtorches and

9.There could be some specific abilities that can help you in this occupation. One of them could
possibly be strength. This could be a quality that could help you because of the things you would
have to lift on the job such as bags of concrete, or maybe some stones that need to be clear in
order to start building. Another quality could be the knowledge to save money. There are
positions for construction workers that are meant specifically to help the company that you are
working for to save money. If you know ways to get around expensive things and get supplies or
anything else that could be costly, then this would be a good position to have that knowledge.
The ability to drive heavy machinery in this occupation would be extremely important for this
occupation. The reason it would be so important for this type of career is because there is a lot of
need for vehicles like this. These vehicles are used for all sorts of things in construction from
digging holes, dumping dirt, transporting rocks or dirt to or from the construction site, and even
pouring concrete. These are a few of the specific abilities that could help me on the job.
11.There are some limiting factors that go with being a construction worker. The first one is that
there could be some long hours. Depending on how many workers, the project, and the weather,
there could be some quite long hours involved in this type of job. Another limiting factor is the
chance of a disease. There are many

Tax Code Regulations And The Federal Government Through...
Introduction The 501(c)3 tax code specifically for organizations that are reserved for educational
institutions, churches or other nonprofit organizations including what is often deemed as charitable
(Lavarda, 2009). There are two main reasons that an organization will seek to attain a tax exempt
status with the federal government through the Internal Revenue Services (IRS). First, is to provide
for their beneficiaries a taxdeductible contribution, which allows taxpayers benefits when paying
their federal income taxes and secondly, simply is for organizations the ability to not pay federal
income taxes (Lavarda, 2009; Arnsberger, Ludlum, Riley, Statnton, 2008). Organizations who seek
out the tax exempt status do benefit from the protection that the tax code provides, however due to
tax code regulations and reform, organizations that do not heed to the code may be in jeopardy of
violating the code. This violation will result in the IRS revoking the tax exempt status. For
emerging organizations that are on the cusp of defining their affiliations in society must determine
if applying for tax exemption status is a profitable move. Due to the scrutiny of these organizations
and such organizations must take into account the liability that comes with the tax exemptionstatus.
The liability is not one that an organization can take lightly, if an organization does gain tax
exemption status and then later fails to abide by the regulations, the risk is simple; the revocation of

The Importance Of Transvestism In Japanese Culture
Transvestism was a common practice in a homosexual relationship. Transvestism is defined as the
practice of dressing and appearing like the other sex. In Japanese history, male homosexuality is
seen as gender misalignment, which is the totality of physical and behavioral traits that are
designated by a culture as masculine or feminine. Transvestism is shown through cross dressing
males who appear as females. This would be done to please their male partner s heterosexual
interest and was apparent throughout the societies of Japan. This was typical within samurai
relationships, but there has been cases of this found with the chigo cross dressing to please the
monk elites. The ideology of cross dressing was accepted and encouraged through the religious
norms. They would do this to fulfill the concept that they were in a relationship with a woman to
suppress their desire to commit the sin of sexual intercourse with a woman and continue the cycle
of attachment. There is little effort to differentiate among the categories of homosexual male,
transsexual, transvestite, and drag queen (McLelland 158). Cross dressing was most common in
the Edo period because they felt the need to be in touch with their feminine side due to the
introduction of Bushido. The difference between homosexual males, transsexual, transvestite, and
drag queens was not apparent to the Japanese people. All of them were seen as the same and
necessary to fulfil the need of their male partner. The hero of Chigo

Social Media For Health, Fitness And Beauty Tips
Alana Putnam Rough Draft
Did you know that 68% of women in the United States use social media for health, fitness and
beauty tips (Cohen)? Many women of all ages are dealing with the pressure that social media can
put on them to have the perfect body. There are many different ways of dealing with this issue,
that include positive and negative outcomes when dealing with this problem (Reed). Also, just
like every story there is two different sides to this issue. Social media has been putting too much
pressure on women to have perfect bodies or that they have to be in perfect shape all of the time.
The many women who use social media for health purposes helps boost up the usage of different
social media sites, but many bad effects can come out of this pressure that is put on women.
This became an issue very far back in the past, Anorexia began in the 1870s but didn t become
popular until 1960s and 1970s. Bulimia began in the 1980s and was popularized as soon as it
started. The idea of a perfect body has changed a lot over time from very curvy, to very skinny
and back again multiple times depending on where you are (Reed). Using very thin models
became very popular after World War 2 and people believed that this was the new perfect body.
In the 1990s more magazines began to promote plastic surgery on women and people began to
invest in it (Redar). Studies have also shown that once a woman develops an eating disorder it is
harder for her to get into a healthier

Auguste Rodin s Works
The Thinker: Auguste Rodin sculpted the Thinker between 1881 and 1919. The original thinker
is currently located in MusГ©e Rodin, which is located in Paris, France. The Thinker, originally
constructed to represent Dante Degli Alighieri pondering his famous poem, The Divine
Comedy, was made to be on top of the compositional piece Rodin created as an entranceway for
the MusГ©e des Arts DГ©coratifs. This piece, known as The Gates of Hell, is based on Dante s
16th century poem, The Divine Comedy. For this reason, the original name of The Thinker was
The Poet; however, as the piece began to gain precedence over The Gates of Hell, its name was
changed, and today it is commonly recognized as a symbol of philosophy and learning. The
Thinker also became known as a symbol of the socialist movement in France during 1906 and
onwards, which was a time of political and social turmoil. As a result of The Gates of Hell,
Rodin s most famous works would appear to the public. These pieces include The Kiss, The Age
of Bronze, The Monument of Balzac, and The Burghers of Calais. The Thinker was created at the
front of Impressionist Sculpture; however, Auguste Rodin never showed his work under the title of

The Anchoring Theory Of Lightness Perception

An analytical discussion on the Anchoring Theory of Lightness Perception

Abstract
The ability to perceive lightness is a key component in completing everyday tasks. However, due to
the variations in illumination and context, lightness perception theories fail to fully explain lightness
perception for all situations. The anchoring theory of lightness perception (Gilchrist et al., 1999)
successfully provides a theory that explains the accurate yet systematic inaccuracies of human
lightness perception under vast conditions (Murray,2013). These conditions are governed by
frameworks, which are groupings of surfaces that belong to each other more or less as determined
by 5 factors; Depth, Orientation, Penumbrae, Junctions and Grouping (Gilchrist et al, 1999).
However, as anchoring occurs independently within each framework, other theories have been
founded which suggest that the human visual system uses the Gestalt laws of perceptual grouping
to group regions into factions, known as frameworks, where all regions in the single framework are
expected to be illuminated uniformly (Bressan, 2006).
(Words 154)
From deciding whether to clean the car to recognising a particular brand, lightness is a key aspect
in everyday life. Yet, the process of how humans perceive lightness cannot be understood solely by
one theory of lightness perception. Currently, The Anchoring Theory of

Pros And Cons Of Genetic Testing
What are the most serious genetic diseases and what are the pros and cons of genetic testing?
Here is a real life story of a woman who has been greatly affected by genetic testing and has seen
both the good and the bad of genetic testing. This is a story that was posted in an article called 6
Moms Share Their Real Prenatal Testing Stories on the website What to Expect from Courtney
from Lake Stevens, Washington about how genetic testing has affected her life. So for
Courtney, a few weeks after her 13 week ultrasound and her quad screen her doctors told her she
had a positive screen for Down syndrome. So at 17 weeks she had to go back in for another
ultrasound and genetic counseling which according to kids health.org is counseling that allows
a genetic counselor to evaluate the results of a genetic test with the parents and helps the parents
understand and reach decisions on what to do next. Her ultrasound looked great but still had a
positive screen for Down syndrome. So she was was recommended for either an amnio or verifi
test. Courtney then went to genetic counseling and choose to have the verifi test done over the
amnio. A week later her results came back negative for Down syndrome and confirmed the baby
was a girl. Courtney said I am glad we opted to get the verifi test done especially after the stress
of getting a positive screening before. I like how that if the NIPT did turn out positive for Down
syndrome, I could have prepared ahead of time for the care of a special needs child would
require, rather than feeling completely caught off guard at birth. As you can see genetic testing
is very important and can affect a child s and parents lives for the better and the worst. Children
all over the world have serious genetic diseases that affect their life on a daily. Some of these
diseases are Achondroplasia, Down syndrome, and Turner s syndrome. Many believe genetic
testing is a good way to test for these genetic conditions before the child is even born, but others
think that it can harm the baby very badly and even cause a miscarriage, so they choose not to do
this kind of testing. Knowing about the most serious genetic diseases is very important for
expecting parents to be informed as well as being

Two Different Types Of Friends

help define who we are as people. There are five different types of friends that will come and go
in our lives. They are wild, dependable, lucky, chill, and funny. All of them add up to one
amazing group of best friends. First up is the wild one. They always seems to be getting into
trouble. Every once in a while a party opportunity comes up. The wild one takes the first chance
they get to go. They leave other responsibilities behind and procrastinate to the last minute.
Grades do not seem to be their number one priority in life. However, getting a high score on a

Introduction
It is widely acknowledged that Ebenezer Howard s Garden City stimulated many significant urban
design achievements in worldwide. Whether the theory is still suitable for sustainable urban
planning in twenty one century has been widely discussed. Some approvers argue that Howard
provided the idea of self sufficiency and limited growths still remain. However, the theory has been
denounced because it is too idealistic, difficult to implement. Therefore, this paper will first review
the original concept of Garden city, then examine legacy of the Garden Cities whether they have
proved to be successful, sustainable places. The paper is divided into three parts. In the first
section, the concept of Garden city will be first explained. In the second part, the discussion of
Garden city concept will be presented. Then, case study on modern garden city will be described at
last. The study shows, the ideas of Garden City have been widely misinterpreted, leading potential
risks on environment. In addition, to some extent, the morphological model of Garden city is not
appropriate any more due to vehicles dependency and new communication modes changed the
planning concept.

Divorce Definition Essay
Divorce rates continue to climb in our society today. Marriage is looked upon as a relationship
that when you are tired or unhappy in you simply call it quits, hire a lawyer, divorce, and move on

A loss of brand reputation occurs from many different potential sources, but can be managed and
mitigate through appropriate steps before and after any potential incidents that could affect the

meets regulation and public safety expectations of the market. Failure to monitor the quality of

Developing a contingency plan for emergencies both with the distributing partner, and within the

3.Risk Three Regulatory Changes Regulatory changes can have a positive impact on the company,
but can also incur operational costs. As regulation changes do not occur in a vacuum the company
can evaluate the potential impact of regulation changes and set aside sufficient funds before
changes occur to ensure the company continues to meet regulation demands. The organization can
setup an internal committee that can evaluate the impact of regulation changes being debated. The
advantage of this is leveraging some changes to the companies benefit. For example, if there is a
desired change that would enhance food safety, the committee may find that enacting the change
would not incur a large cost, would improve brand recognition to enact the change, and may choose
to change company standards whether or not the regulation changes. It can aid in planning how to
mitigate operational cost increases due to regulation changes, for example the pharmacy may face
changing health insurance regulation changes and the company would not only need to set aside
sufficient funds, but also institute a compliance plan upon the regulation changing.

The Importance Of A Network And Its Purpose

important and what the potential utilization in healthcare is or might be. A network is a group of
computers that are linked together to improve communication and data transfer (Cowley, 2012).
Each computer in the network can still function independently. These networks communicate over
wires, cables, radio waves, or satellites (Wager, Lee, Glaser, 2013). The purpose of a network is to

Currently, there are some states, like Delaware, who have a functional Statewide Health
Information Network; but more work needs to be done in this area to make a Nationwide

interoperability, just because multiple networks can be interconnected, does not automatically
mean that computers on various networks can communicate with each other. The HITECH Act
set forth the vision for an interconnected healthcare system in the United States. Providers have
no choice but to work to comply with the vision. 2 Describe and compare three major types of
networks. Come up with healthcare utilization examples for each of the network types you
described. Three major network types are local area networks (LAN), wide area networks
(WAN), and virtual private networks (VPNs). The LAN covers a smaller geographic area than
the WAN. The trade off is the LAN transfers data at higher rates than does the WAN. Control of
the network varies between LANs and WANs. LANs are usually controlled by the organization,
along with the hardware and software running on the LAN; whereas, WANs are usually
controlled by a third party (Cowley, 2012; Wager, 2013). A VPN allows remote access to an

Healthcare and the Competitive Market Structure Essay
A competitive market is one that allows easy entry and exit: a market in which companies are
generally free to enter or to leave at will. This does not describe the health care market in the US.
There are certain assumptions that the competitive market model operates under some assumptions,
first is the consumer/patient has full information about the nature of the services required, the
anticipated results of their decision and the benefits obtain from the service. This is not true in
health care often time the patient is operating at a distinct information disadvantage when they
require health care services such as insurance. If a patient purchases health insuranceoften they don

Another group often blocked is complementary or alternative health care practitioners. These
restrictions and the insurance industry unwillingness to pay for these services, gives the
physicians an almost monopolist control over health care. Providers must be able to enter the
market for competition to work and there must be many providers vying for the patient. To get
the most out of health insurance plans Consolidation of hospitals and multispecialty group
practices increases the negotiating leverage of the group but in certain areas of the US a single
large medical system has become the sole provider of major health service thereby restricting
competition (Shi Singh, 2008). This consolidation while giving the hospitals and group practice
leverage when negotiating prices of supplies and services tends to increase the price of health care
to the patient because there is no longer any competition (Shi Singh, 2008). For these reason
competition will remain less effective in most health care markets, because the prerequisite for
fully competitive markets are not fully met (Federal Trade, 2004, p. 20).
I believe that a pure competitive market based health care system would demand a greater need
independent regulations, accountability, public involvement and scrutiny at all levels to protect the
public good and to maintain and

Character Of Polonius In Hamlet
How significant is the character of Polonius in the play Hamlet .
In the play Hamlet the character Polonius is a courtier to the king Claudius. He is the epitome of
everything that Hamlet hates in the court of Denmark. Polonius s character is at many points in
the play is a comic character who contradicts himself constantly and finds incredibly long winded
ways to embellish his points. Shakespeare uses the persona of Polonius, as a satirical figure and
as a foil, to show what is wrong with the court of the time. Polonius is also the father of Laertes
and Ophelia who are integral to the final downfall of the Danish kingdom. The tensions that arise
from the death of Polonius is prevalent throughout the remainder of the play, and his passing ...

His use of complex language to increase his intelligence is both farcical and comical in nature.
The most obvious example of this satirical self mockery in the play comes in Act two scene two
Therefore, since brevity is the soul of wit, And tediousness the limbs and outward flourishes, I will
be brief. In this single sentence Polonius proves to himself and the world that he his does not have
the soul of wit due to the fact that even though he is trying to talk about being short winded,
Polonius cannot help himself from embellishing his point and therefore showing that he cannot be
brief. Polonius s inability to use decisive and precise diction is a major factor in the animosity that
grows between him and Hamlet in the play and provides the basis for that particular subplot.
However Polonius still manages to make a mockery of himself when he interrupts a player
claiming that the speech was too long . This is an allusion in itself to the contradictory nature of
the upper classes. Where one law applies to everyone else and another to themselves, his clear lack
of consistency is used by Shakespeare to further enhance Polonius s comical

This can lead to an increased sense of self esteem, the motivation and confidence to participate in
new activities.
It is imperative that practitioners are able to observe and assess each child s development in order
to gain a full understanding of their development and how they can build upon this in order to cater
to the needs of the child and allow them to fulfill their potential. This is highlighted by Wheeler
(2009, p.63) in stating that Observations are fed into family worker and team planning so that
future activities can be based on an individual child s interests and patterns of behavior and thereby
enhance their learning .
The importance of practitioner observation is further underlined by Bruce (2010, p.37) in stating
that every observation is likely to have some implications for planning: first, with regard to the
individual child and, secondly, for the staff and setting perhaps changing a routine or introducing
something new.
In relation to diversity, the early years practitioner can attend to the diverse needs of each child and

Forgiveness In C. S. Lewis Mere Christianity
I actually read two chapters that we had not yet read from the book Mere Christianity and chose
the one that has had the most significant impact on my life in recent years. I have come to
understand forgiveness in such a different manner since becoming a Christian and yet reading C. S.
Lewis s take on forgiveness and Christianityaugmented my understanding even further. I am
excited to review this chapter and share with you my story of forgiveness, as well as, reveal how
this chapter has impacted and altered my understanding of forgiveness and my faith. C. S.
Lewis spends the beginning of his chapters identifying the conflicts regarding the topic that he is
about to embark on. I think this is a great approach to his writing; identify the problem, find
common ground in order to open the mind of the reader to hear the topic of the chapter. Here
Lewis identifies that the problem with forgiveness is that people think it hateful and
contemptible. That sort of talk makes them sick, they say (Mere Christianity, 1952, p.115). He
also expresses that he is not trying to tell you that he is particularly great at forgiveness, but that
he is merely explaining that this is what Christianity is. Lewis explains that forgiveness is
described in the Bible very matter of fact he says it is made perfectly clear that if we do not forgive

S. Lewis s Mere Christianity is that this same compassion and understanding that I now have for
my mom I can practice with anyone outside my home. I am not sure why it had not dawned on
me until reading this chapter that this same idea can be extended outside my home or my
network of friends, but also to my neighbors and my community. Especially to those whom cause
me to be judgmental which is something Christians are not supposed to be. In those moments I
will work to remind myself of C. S. Lewis s guidance on how to love others as we love

Analysis of the Music Industry
Music may be defined romantically as `the food of love (Shakespeare) or more prosaically as
`sound with particular characteristics (Wikipedia), but it is undeniably a `vibrant artform (Arts
Council England) and one which touches more people, in more ways, than any other art form.
In commercial terms, music certainly generates a higher market value than the other arts, although
a comprehensive market size for music in all its manifestations is impossible to calculate. Key
Note has put a value of ВЈ3.03bn on consumer spending on music in 2005, derived from three
sectors: recorded music (which accounts for the bulk of the market), live music and musical
instruments. However, data for other related markets are included, such as ... Show more content on

Each chapter of the report starts with more detailed definitions and coverage.
For coverage of recorded music, Key Note is grateful to the statistics and commentary provided by
the British Phonographic Industry (BPI), detailed later in this chapter under Key Trade
Associations. For other sectors, an important component of the report is the field research into the
attitudes and buying habits of UK consumers with regard to music, conducted for Key Note by
NEMS Market Research specifically for this report.
Report Background
This is the first edition of a Market Review of the Music Industry published by Key Note.
Although coverage is targeted mainly at the UK market, the global aspects of the music industry
are given full acknowledgment. In particular, it is recorded music by far the largest market by
value that has evolved a global structure. Since 2004, it has featured just four `majors owning
dozens of famous labels and holding recording contracts (or back catalogues) for the vast majority
of the world s top selling recording artists.
The `big four major groups, including the UK s own `home grown giant, EMI Group PLC, also own
rights to publish and to license the majority of successful songs, theme music, etc. These rights are
increasingly important as the market moves towards a more fluid, ICT (information and
communications technology)

Consequences Of The Trail Of Tears
The Trail of Tears has been an American predicament as to whether the forceful removal of
Cherokee tribes from their homelands was unconstitutional. The Trail of Tears devastated many
Cherokee people, families, and homes, and is still a debate whether the whole fiasco was
unconstitutional.
Through the years 1816 1840 Native American nations signed more than 40 different treaties that
gave up more and more of the Natives homeland. When President Andrew Jackson came into
power starting in 1829, Jackson made it his policy to remove the Eastern Native American tribes
beyond the white settlements. Then in 1830 U.S. Congress endorsed Jackson s policy and in
return passed the Indian Removal Act, forcing the indians to move west of the Mississippi.
Between the years 1830 and 1850, around 100,000 Native Americans living between the
Mississippi River and the United States were brutally treated and forced to move West. Davy
Crockett who respected and was a scout under Andrew Jackson during the Creek War, was a
congressman from Tennessee during Jackson s term and called the Indian Removal Act unjust.
Jackson s Indian Removal policy would set the stage for Trail of Tears and the forceful removal of
the Cherokee Nation.
The Trail of Tears stemmed from Andrew Jackson s Indian Removal Act, the Cherokees were
forced to move West of the Mississippi into now a day Oklahoma. The Trail of Tears was the
name given by the Cherokee people of the cross country journey they made, because of the

Overcoming Resistance to Change
Overcoming Resistance to Change
BUS 610 Organizational Behavior
Overcoming Resistance
Resistance is a normal and a perfectly natural reaction to change. Each person has their own
amount they can take, but the reasons behind why employees resist in the first place may be
surprising. According to these experts, the fear of moving into an unknown future state creates
anxiety and stress, even if the current state is painful (Eroke, 2013). A complete understanding of
the unique ways that resistance can be apparent is still needed because resistance to change has
been acknowledged as an organizational difficulty for many years. If and when employees react to
change in different ways, and if discrepancies in response result in ... Show more content on

Once this survey is completed online, these scores are then developed into a daily, monthly, and
annual report that rates us on each department separately. A bad score decreases the points as a
whole, makes the entire team look bad to corporate, and bad reviews can be seen by anyone,
which can keep business from coming in and that will drop revenue. For some reason, we were
not capable of securing this position longer than a few weeks which then it was being taken care of
by any of the staff or management if they had a minute to help stock or clean it. This obviously is
not going to be consistent for guests, appears disorganized or short staffed, and is a dangerous
health hazard if someone is not taking temps every thirty minutes. Every single time someone
did not show up to set up buffet, the staff and management jumped in to help, but it was like
pulling teeth to get anyone to step in and do this job. Out of pure self interest each one of them
would voice their opinion about how they do not make enough to do someone else s job and it
was not their job or they did not sign up for this. Resistance is an inevitable response to any major
change. Individuals naturally rush to defend the status quo if they feel their security or status is
threatened (Bolognese, 2002). I understand it is not their faults that it kept getting abandoned, but I
also know how to be reasonable and work as a team. Most people are

An Everlasting Relationship in Elie WieselВґs Night
Miller Park would need to be filled to capacity 262 times to equal the eleven million total people
that died during the Holocaust. Jews, gypsies, homosexuals, and many others were killed for no
other reason than being hated by the Nazis for who they are. In Elie Wiesel s memoir Night, he
tells the petrifying experiences he suffered through that scarred him forever. Some things can never
be unseen, and this was the case for Wiesel. If it were not for his father, his last bit of hope for life
would have been shattered, and he would not have survived. As each horrifying event unfolds at the
concentration camps, the true strength of the relationship between Elie Wieseland his father shows
and progressively gets stronger throughout their time... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Being able to share this key belief with his father allows their relationship to continue to grow
stronger. As their time in the concentration camp continues, the conditions there worsen. The
prisoners are soon forced into a treacherous forty two mile run in the icy cold, which makes them
struggle between life the death. During this march, one thing keeps Wiesel s will to live alive
and that is his father. This shows one of Wiesel s weakest moments, where he contemplates
giving up numerous times. Exhaustion takes over his body, and the only thing he can think
about is the pleasures that death would bring him. Wiesel s mind overpowers him and he
reflects, Death wrapped itself around me till I was stifled. It stuck to me. I felt that I could
touch it. The idea of dying, of no longer being, began to fascinate me (82). However, his father
needs him, and that is truly what drives him to keep pushing until the end. They stay alive for
each other, which shows how much they really care about the other. While Wiesel rests in the
shed after the run, Rabbi Eliahou, a very well liked man, comes in looking for his son. He and his
son have been sticking together for three years. Wiesel expresses that he has not seen him, without
realizing that this is false. The Rabbi s son purposely left him, to strengthen his own chances of
survival. Wiesel is taken aback by this, and astonishingly begins to pray. He thinks, My God,

The Five Social Classes In The United States
America has five social classes. The Upper Class is made up of wealth, and in most cases is
inherited wealth that has been passed down from generation to generation. Individuals have little
control over this class as many are born into the circumstance. The Upper Class participate in
politics and economic environments. Not all Upper Class is old money, there are also those
individuals that have made money as entrepreneurs. The next social classis the Upper Middle Class.
These individuals are at the top of management level in organizations, educated and have families.
Many Upper Middle class are two income families. (Tischler, pg 182) Education plays a key role in
the success of the Upper Middle class so there is a level of control an individual

Definitions of Self In Community in Sula and Song of Solomon
In that place, where they tore the nightshade and blackberry patches from their roots to make room
for the Medallion City Golf Course, there once was a neighborhood (Sula 1). Toni Morrison begins
the novel Sula with these powerful words, describing more than a physical place, but a spiritual
place where a community once stood. She begins with the destruction of the community, ultimately
beginning at the end because her novel traces the history of this community. In Song of Solomon.
Morrison takes the opposite path. She traces the history of self that ultimately ends in a type of
destruction when Milkman leaps off the cliff. In both novels, however, she explores the ... Show

Explain The Roles And Differences Between Consumer And...
1.Differentiate between mechanized, semi automated, automated, and information directed
handling systems. The mechanized type handling system, is a combination through labor and
equipment handling that utilizes the help from facilities processing, receiving, and shipping.
Although a high percentage of overall cost is associated with this type of labor system. Also, with
having to use a high amount of human labor workers, there is more use of forklifts and carousels.
Where when using an automated system, there would be a cut in labor costs due to the use of
automated equipment that can accomplish the job that man power is being used to accomplish. A
lot of these costs can be pretty expensive up front, but in the long run they end up paying
themselves off. When a mix of both are used though, it s called semi automated. Which can in turn
help increase efficiency. But at the same time, using completely automated systems can help reduce
in any forms of error in sorting processes. Within semi automated systems, there is the final form of
information directed handling. This system uses information technology to help direct mechanized
or any automated equipment. 2.Explain the roles and differences between consumer and industrial
focused packaging. The roles and differences between consumer and industrial focused packaging
are pretty up to point. The consumer packaging is primarily focused on product and marketing
rather than focusing on getting the product to its destination

Friendship In The Chronicles Of Narnia
Friendship
Before we begin we need to understand what friendship is. If you define friendship it says: the
emotions or conduct of friends; the state of being friends but what really is friendship? It is a bond
between 2 people most of the time who have common interests or who have had something
important happen together but sometimes it s just two people who meet and don t have anything in
common but you still meet and hang out. A true friend puts your happiness and safety in front of
your friendship, doesn t ask you to put him/her before your principals and a true friend is a good
influence. You need to be able to trust a good friend and they need to trust you. How does this
apply to the Chronicles of Narnia though?
When we first begin in the Chronicles of Narnia they are exploring the Professors house when
Lucy steps into a wardrobe which leads to Narnia and she meets someone who she thinks is a new
friend Mr. Tumnus and they talk until she finds out that Mr.Tumnus was planning on betraying her
to the evil white witch. After that Lucy forgives him and they do become good friends! When

Racial profiling is targeting individuals based upon their particular characteristics ( What is
Racial, 2015). Before September 11th, polls showed that Americans of all races and ethnicities
believed racial profiling to be both widespread and unacceptable ( Reports and Curricula, 2015).
However, after the September 11th terrorists attacks on the World Trade Centers and the Pentagon,
this was no longer the case. Individuals as well as the federal government started to racially profile
Arab Americans, Arabs, and Muslims ( Reports and Curricula, 2015).

Puritan Religious Changes
The religious changes that occurred in England during the early 1500s were less concerned with
doctrinal matters. King Henry VIII, initially a Roman Catholic, left the church over dynastic
concerns: He wanted to perpetuate the line of Tudor monarchs. Despite the emergence of an
independent English church, religious loyalties remained deeply divided for decades. Actually, the
English church differed a little from the Catholic Church, except for the central issue of allegiance
to the pope. The remaining similarity was a matter of deep concern to many who felt that the
English Reformationhad not gone far enough. The name Puritan came to be used to describe
members of the English Church who wished to purify it of all its pretenses to the Roman... Show

However, one thing they were alike is that they both had a royal governors. Their royal

king did try to make the laws fairly. He took what his people wanted under consideration when
making the rules. Of course, not everyone can be pleased, so some people did not like the rules
but they learned to deal with them. Another way the New England colonies and Southern colonies
are alike is that their people got to vote for their lawmakers. Virginia had the House of Burgesses
that was a legislature that was picked by the people. The Pilgrims had the Mayflower compact, in
which they would follow. They both had early examples of

those in Asia, with a total of 46 out of the 81 products coming from countries within. More
specifically coming from the countries in south, east and south east Asia, mostly from China and no
products are imported from north or west Asia. I think we get majority of our imports from the
south, east and south east s they are the closest countries to Australia and hence resulting in less

The products of which the countries in Asia supply tend to be stuff like shoes, homewares,
clothes, toys and electronics. I think Asia supplies majority of the goods as many companies
have their factories in China. This may be due to the fact that Chinese are flexible with their
work. When someone is flexible with their work it means that they will work long hours and
take very little breaks for little money as well, saving the company money and time. This does
not happen in many countries as it is against the law for people, depending on their age, to work
for too many hours in one day and for every so many hours they have to have a break of some
form. Another reason as to why we get so many imports from Asia could be because they are the
closest continent to Australia and hence don t have to pay as much for transport. On the other hand,
we do not get any products from the countries in Africa. This would be partly because they are in
debt to other countries and because in order to get their products to Australia not only do they have
to pay for transport, but also for tariffs in order to get their products into Australia; this is an import
tax. On top of this, they are becoming even more bankrupt due to the digital divide, where other
rich countries can afford to buy new technology and equipment, countries in Africa cannot, putting
them even further behind as other countries

Public Sphere Within The Private Space
The concept of the mediatisation of space has allowed for an understanding of the intertwining of
the public and the private spheres. This experience of the public sphere is seen through the
infusion of symbols and representations within media forms, thus showing us the impact of
changes that the media has catalysed in our individual everyday life. The public sphere within the
private space can be seen in mediums such as Twitter, in which the representation of words and
hashtags have shifted the societal experience. Thus, this idea of mediatisation of space allows for
an understanding of the value and experience of the public in individual lives with the assistance of
signs, symbols and representations. The mediatisation of space is a... Show more content on

For example, the bedroom and messaging apps are both considered privatised space, though one is
physical and the other virtual. Similarly, the park and news websites are both public space, as they
are accessible by the general community, though they differ in scale and degree of publicness.
These ideas of space are inextricably intertwined with the concept of mobility the shifting between
locations and time both linear and non linear (Green 2002, p. 282). The idea of mediatisation is
slightly harder to explain, however, as it is a concept which is an incomplete and still unfolding
historical project (Livingstone 2009, p. 6). It should be also highlighted and noted that the concept
differs from that of the term mediation. Mediation emphasises the complexity of the social space
and the diversity of transformations which arise (Couldry 2008, p. 3), exploring the impact that
media has upon the contemporary society as a whole. Thus, it focuses on examining the
fundamental influence of media on the community. Comparatively, mediatisation, as asserted by
Hepp, Hjarvard and Lundby (2015), endeavours to build a theoretical framework that will allow an
examination into the role of media in transforming social and cultural interaction, and shift
communicative methods. The theory also emphasises on the role of media and how its logics
impact culture and society. Thus, whilst mediation

  • 5. Reform Judaism As Liberal And Progressive Judaism Reform Judaism also known as Liberal and Progressive Judaism is the large institutionalized religion that I chose. The locations that Reform Judaism is practiced in are 43 countries around the world and started in the Levant. They also have a headquarters in New York City, New York the Union for Reform Judaism, Central Conference of American Rabbis. Reform Judaism emerged following the emancipation from ghetto life in the late 18 th century. It sought to modernize Judaism and thus stem the tide of assimilation threatening German Jewry (Jews for Jesus). Abraham Geiger is considered to be the founder of the Reform movement. While he was investigating Jewish history he discovered that many of the old practices were changed in favor of new ones. Geiger also felt that the more changes that are made to keep up with the times will make Judaism attractive to all Jews. OlmecReligionwas the small traditional religion that I chose. The location that the Olmec Religion was practiced in the Gulf of Mexico which is now the states of Tabasco and Veracruz, but their influence spread to as far as present day Nicaragua. • 8. Essay on Jasper Jones by Craig Silvey After having a thorough read of the novel Jasper Jones by Craig Silvey, I have come to understand the powerful effects of using written codes and conventions in novels. Silvey s impressive piece of literature was carefully constructed through techniques such as characterization, socio cultural context, themes and intertexuality. By doing this, Silvey was accredited for convincing the readers, appealing to their emotions and manipulating their beliefs and values to accept or agree with his opinions on the issue covered in the novel. Characters play a major role in ensuring that the novels can be read and comprehended. However, the success of a novel is dependent on the quality of characterization and whether they will attract the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The community also had issues with Vietnamese immigrants due to their different physical features and the crisis Vietnam was in. For instance, Jeffrey and his family were harassed and Mr. Lu was beaten by four drunken men. The messages are being conveyed as themes in the novel and Silvey aims to inform Australians of the consequences for our actions. He explored ideas of racism and discrimination, inequality, injustice and alcoholism. In the novel, Charlie is distressed to find both of his friends being insulted and abused for the nationality. For example, Jasper is blames for Laura s death and for every conflict he is held as scapegoat. In Jeffrey s case, his family is looked down upon and their reputation as humans is disregarded and degraded. Silvey is trying to highlight the stupidity of the people and show the importance of giving everyone a fair go. Jasper Jones has strong intertextual links to an all time favourite but a complex novel to understand, To kill a mocking bird by Harper Lee. In fact Silvey wrote Jasper Jones as an easier and modern version of To Kill a Mocking Bird. Many of the characters have parallel personalities and some of the main ideas were the same. Both deal with racism and discrimination in small country towns, both explore the distant relation between law and justice, and both, Jasper Jones and TKAMB create a world of moral opposites ... • 10. Glorification Of Violence Analysis The glorification of violence is present in both epics and has value to their respective societies. Using his lance first, the Cid got his hand on the sword, he killed so many Moors you could not have counted them, the blood was streaming from the arm above his elbow. The violence of their battles showed the value in their society of how fighting for your Lordan honorable act was and that it is expected that violence will occur. The bishop, don JerГіnimo, the mitered man of merit, when he had finished his hand to hand combats, he could not count the number of Moors he d killed. Whatever is left, give to my wife and daughters; ask that they pray for me by day and by night, and if I live, I ll give them enough yet to see them wealthy. The Cid would give his daughters riches so they could live comfortably without having to worry about anything. The second submission is the relationship between a husband and his wife. Seeing him approach, doГ±a Jimena threw herself at his feet: Grace, O Campeador! Bless the hour you girded on sword! You ve saved me many a sore trial, my Lordand now you see me here with both your daughters. The value of a wife respecting their husband is never more prevalent than this when the wife literally falls at the feet of her husband. This shows the role women play during medieval Spanish. The third and final submission is the widow to male relative submission. In the case of the Cid, he is leaving to go to war and he wants someone to watch over them when he s away. • 11. Access To Justice With the demise of the apartheid in 1994 and the implementation of the Constitution in 1996, it brought with it the concept of access to justice for all citizens of South Africa. The notion itself has developed and evolved beyond the preconceived idea of access to courts but encompasses one s access to legal and state services, social, economic and environmental justiceas well. Although Section 34 of the Constitution provides that anyone with a dispute may seek justice by bringing the dispute to court with Section 35, from which Legal Aid South Africaderived its mandate, enforcing that those arrested, detained or accused has the right to a fair trial which includes the right to have a legal practitioner assigned by the State and at the expense of the State, justice is tied directly to political and economic position, power and wealth. • 14. The Chinese Martial Arts Film Most Martial arts films in China generally tend to foreground issues of gender. In addition, these films portray a fixed line of gender separation. The Chinese Martial arts film culture has always been more receptive to the general idea of the female character in what Westerners would indeed consider exclusively male role such as the action hero (Castillo 3). In the martial art films several actress have even established their entire reputations as action stars. The action heroes were also held up as the idea of masculinity with all of its inherent characteristics of control, privilege and agency. • 15. Sparta Strengths And Weaknesses Education in Sparta: Did the Strengths Outweigh the Weaknesses? Would you like to be neglected just because you weren t strong? That is what a Spartan kid would undergo. Sparta is a small city state located in Peloponnese, Greece. The Spartan civilization was established in 900 BCE Despite its early foundation, it lived fairly peacefully until the Persians and the Athenians came along and tried to invade Sparta. Sparta had to endure the assaults, and they had to fight to survive. Due to this, the education was based on the body strength and physical toughness. Until the fall of the empire, the education was essentially the same. Questioning if the strengths outweighed the weaknesses seems like a fair question to ask. After evaluating both ... Several Spartan kids get neglected and ignored if they do not meet the strength and physical requirements under the Agoge s training. Young women are often trained at wrestling, physical strength, and running so that their children will grow to become strong as well. If the child was male, the child was taken away from his parents at the astonishing age of seven to be controlled and trained by the government s agoge. Any sort of footwear wasn t allowed, nor extra clothing. They were given insubstantial food to show them how it is to go on with an empty stomach. Once the children left the agoge, most of them went on to be great soldiers in the army forces. The men who have the strength and ability to, go forward to expand their specialization in strength and got on to the army. The stress that the Spartan government puts onto physical strength is stunning. It takes 14 long and exhausting years to complete the training in order to become a soldier. Most people volunteered at the ages of seven which was the starting, until twenty one. At the early time when the education system switched to focus on the body, the world, not only Sparta, was getting attacks and invasions from outsiders and the physical educational system was surely ... • 16. Gateways To Art Analysis The figure 1.120 on page 123 of Gateways to Art depicts a 3 dimensional piece of art called Monogram. Inside the work includes mixed media with taxidermy goat, rubber tire, and a tennis ball. The work was done by Robert Rauschenberg from Sweden. There is strong emphasis on the goat, making it the focal point of the mass. The installation of the tire is wrapped around the goat s torso, while the goat is mounted onto the center of the wood frame. The size of the work is monumental compared to other works of art. The subordination of the painted half of the work prevents the viewer from looking at the plain pieces of wood. The span of the mount stretches diagonally across the frame. The addition of red paint brings a sense of luminosity to the work. There are illuminated letters printed of the wood pieces that draws attention to the left half of the piece. The text says Rauschenberg created the work as a symbol of himself as a rebel and outcast. The goat relates to a religious perspective as goats used to be offered as a sacrifice by Christians to God. • 19. Tax Code Regulations And The Federal Government Through... Introduction The 501(c)3 tax code specifically for organizations that are reserved for educational institutions, churches or other nonprofit organizations including what is often deemed as charitable (Lavarda, 2009). There are two main reasons that an organization will seek to attain a tax exempt status with the federal government through the Internal Revenue Services (IRS). First, is to provide for their beneficiaries a taxdeductible contribution, which allows taxpayers benefits when paying their federal income taxes and secondly, simply is for organizations the ability to not pay federal income taxes (Lavarda, 2009; Arnsberger, Ludlum, Riley, Statnton, 2008). Organizations who seek out the tax exempt status do benefit from the protection that the tax code provides, however due to tax code regulations and reform, organizations that do not heed to the code may be in jeopardy of violating the code. This violation will result in the IRS revoking the tax exempt status. For emerging organizations that are on the cusp of defining their affiliations in society must determine if applying for tax exemption status is a profitable move. Due to the scrutiny of these organizations and such organizations must take into account the liability that comes with the tax exemptionstatus. Transvestism is defined as the practice of dressing and appearing like the other sex. In Japanese history, male homosexuality is seen as gender misalignment, which is the totality of physical and behavioral traits that are designated by a culture as masculine or feminine. Transvestism is shown through cross dressing males who appear as females. This would be done to please their male partner s heterosexual interest and was apparent throughout the societies of Japan. This was typical within samurai relationships, but there has been cases of this found with the chigo cross dressing to please the monk elites. The ideology of cross dressing was accepted and encouraged through the religious norms. They would do this to fulfill the concept that they were in a relationship with a woman to suppress their desire to commit the sin of sexual intercourse with a woman and continue the cycle of attachment. There is little effort to differentiate among the categories of homosexual male, transsexual, transvestite, and drag queen (McLelland 158). Cross dressing was most common in the Edo period because they felt the need to be in touch with their feminine side due to the introduction of Bushido. The difference between homosexual males, transsexual, transvestite, and drag queens was not apparent to the Japanese people. There are many different ways of dealing with this issue, that include positive and negative outcomes when dealing with this problem (Reed). Also, just like every story there is two different sides to this issue. Social media has been putting too much pressure on women to have perfect bodies or that they have to be in perfect shape all of the time. The many women who use social media for health purposes helps boost up the usage of different social media sites, but many bad effects can come out of this pressure that is put on women. This became an issue very far back in the past, Anorexia began in the 1870s but didn t become popular until 1960s and 1970s. Bulimia began in the 1980s and was popularized as soon as it started. The idea of a perfect body has changed a lot over time from very curvy, to very skinny and back again multiple times depending on where you are (Reed). Using very thin models became very popular after World War 2 and people believed that this was the new perfect body. This piece, known as The Gates of Hell, is based on Dante s 16th century poem, The Divine Comedy. For this reason, the original name of The Thinker was The Poet; however, as the piece began to gain precedence over The Gates of Hell, its name was changed, and today it is commonly recognized as a symbol of philosophy and learning. • 26. The Anchoring Theory Of Lightness Perception Word count: 1613 An analytical discussion on the Anchoring Theory of Lightness Perception Gilchrist et al. (1999) Isabel Villafuerte 695563 Melbourne University Abstract The ability to perceive lightness is a key component in completing everyday tasks. However, due to the variations in illumination and context, lightness perception theories fail to fully explain lightness perception for all situations. The anchoring theory of lightness perception (Gilchrist et al., 1999) successfully provides a theory that explains the accurate yet systematic inaccuracies of human lightness perception under vast conditions (Murray,2013). These conditions are governed by frameworks, which are groupings of surfaces that belong to each other more or less as determined by 5 factors; Depth, Orientation, Penumbrae, Junctions and Grouping (Gilchrist et al, 1999). However, as anchoring occurs independently within each framework, other theories have been founded which suggest that the human visual system uses the Gestalt laws of perceptual grouping to group regions into factions, known as frameworks, where all regions in the single framework are expected to be illuminated uniformly (Bressan, 2006). (Words 154) From deciding whether to clean the car to recognising a particular brand, lightness is a key aspect in everyday life. Yet, the process of how humans perceive lightness cannot be understood solely by one theory of lightness perception. Currently, The Anchoring Theory of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This does not describe the health care market in the US. There are certain assumptions that the competitive market model operates under some assumptions, first is the consumer/patient has full information about the nature of the services required, the anticipated results of their decision and the benefits obtain from the service. This is not true in health care often time the patient is operating at a distinct information disadvantage when they require health care services such as insurance. Another group often blocked is complementary or alternative health care practitioners. These restrictions and the insurance industry unwillingness to pay for these services, gives the physicians an almost monopolist control over health care. Providers must be able to enter the market for competition to work and there must be many providers vying for the patient. To get the most out of health insurance plans Consolidation of hospitals and multispecialty group practices increases the negotiating leverage of the group but in certain areas of the US a single large medical system has become the sole provider of major health service thereby restricting competition (Shi Singh, 2008). This consolidation while giving the hospitals and group practice leverage when negotiating prices of supplies and services tends to increase the price of health care to the patient because there is no longer any competition (Shi Singh, 2008). For these reason competition will remain less effective in most health care markets, because the prerequisite for fully competitive markets are not fully met (Federal Trade, 2004, p. 20). I believe that a pure competitive market based health care system would demand a greater need independent regulations, accountability, public involvement and scrutiny at all levels to protect the public good and to maintain and ... He is the epitome of everything that Hamlet hates in the court of Denmark. In this single sentence Polonius proves to himself and the world that he his does not have the soul of wit due to the fact that even though he is trying to talk about being short winded, Polonius cannot help himself from embellishing his point and therefore showing that he cannot be brief. Polonius s inability to use decisive and precise diction is a major factor in the animosity that grows between him and Hamlet in the play and provides the basis for that particular subplot. I am excited to review this chapter and share with you my story of forgiveness, as well as, reveal how this chapter has impacted and altered my understanding of forgiveness and my faith. C. S. Lewis spends the beginning of his chapters identifying the conflicts regarding the topic that he is about to embark on. I think this is a great approach to his writing; identify the problem, find common ground in order to open the mind of the reader to hear the topic of the chapter. Here Lewis identifies that the problem with forgiveness is that people think it hateful and contemptible. That sort of talk makes them sick, they say (Mere Christianity, 1952, p.115). He also expresses that he is not trying to tell you that he is particularly great at forgiveness, but that he is merely explaining that this is what Christianity is. The Trail of Tears devastated many Cherokee people, families, and homes, and is still a debate whether the whole fiasco was unconstitutional. This does not happen in many countries as it is against the law for people, depending on their age, to work for too many hours in one day and for every so many hours they have to have a break of some form.
