The Importance Of End Systems
In today's society networking is pivotal structure in the way information is transferred and received between people. In the business world we need
to send information to people to at fast rates to meet user satisfaction. Imagine places like wall street that is the mecca of business that constantly
send information back and forth to get the right information to keep investor aware or up to date on a forever changing stock market. Picture one the
biggest libraries in america the library of congress in washington dc that has network structure to accommodate millions of people that commute and
use resources such online biography and web capabilities every day. For system like this to exist we depend on a common network layer that is used all

of fragment–free switching. Up to now, this discussion has concentrated on switching and bridging at the data link layer Layer 2 of the Open System

high–speed ports because of the manufacturing cost involved. With improved technology, many functions previously implemented in software were

Control Mechanism
Control Mechanisms and the Starbucks Corporation The purpose of this paper is to identify four types of control mechanisms, feed–forward,
concurrent, feedback, and financial, and their application in the Starbuck Corporation. The control mechanisms are compared and contrasted along
with determining the effectiveness of these control mechanisms, and examining the positive and negative reactions. Finally, students will explain how
these controls affect the four functions of management.
Control Mechanisms
Every business needs to have controls in place to remain competitive and survive in business. Without controls, the company would operate in chaos
for a short period before the business collapses. When operating a business, a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The information gained from concurrent controls enables Starbucks to keep a pulse on the heart of their business. Today, Starbucks is second only to
Caribou in market capitalization (Yahoo, 2010).
Feedback control happens after every event and helps Starbucks stay within acceptable standards. Starbucks takes pride in their ability to use feedback
to be creative, innovative, and responsive to their stakeholders. For example, management noticed the need for health benefits in the late 1980s for their
employees. Feedback also brought the introduction of Wi–Fi, which helped make their coffee shops a community gathering place. Most recently,
Starbucks revamped its food offerings to items made without artificial flavors, trans–fats, dyes, and high–fructose corn syrup (Starbucks, 2010). The
effectiveness of Starbucks feedback controls allows them to try new ways of doing business and helps secure their success.
Financial controls have been another key component to Starbucks' success. They monitor the individual cash flow from each store all the way up to
the CFOs of Starbucks. Store managers can determine the stores needs based on proper information from the financial controls. An effective
illustration of this is Starbucks' more than 550 specialty cafes and kiosks in North America (Starbucks, 2010). The kiosks serve freshly brewed coffee
to the public and provide instant

Green Winter Through The Kick Starter Website
In efforts to grow the Seedfolk City Farm, Barker initiated Operation Green Winter through the kick–starter website, Indiegogo. This was a
community–focused urban agriculture project that helped raise funds to continue operating the greenhouses during the winter. It also enabled them to
provide consistent year–round after–school employment for four of the young people that helped to get the project off the ground. This campaign was
in addition to several community events held in efforts to raise money for the "green winter". This was as a result of weather implications in Rochester,
NY, which prevented them from growing fresh fruits and vegetables. The pilot aquaponic farming system would "winterize" the greenhouse by
sustaining a year–round farming operation that enabled them to triple production capabilities with four new vertical grow beds. Not only did the
money raised help physically make these changes possible, but it also provided the youth with more after school activities as a result of these
expansions.
ProsperRochester has relied on its partnerships to achieve its goals. In order to establish these greenhouses, ProsperRochester teamed up with In The
City/Off The Grid. ICOG is a Rochester–based cooperative business that offers solar installation services and general construction services, while
engaging in community development projects and employee training. Thankfully, ICOG was able to assist with building and provide solar panels for
the greenhouses.

Along with the dramatic demise of Motorola's mobile phone business in the past two years, Soundbuzz now also faces closure of its own. It's an
ironic end for a company that seemed ahead of its time when it came out selling legit music in 1999 – at the dawn of illegal downloads. Many were
surprised at the time, when Soundbuzz CEO Sudhanshu Sarronwala, a former MTV stalwart, managed to court the music labels even when they were
more interested in blocking people from ripping CDs. Its music collection was built up very fast, providing users in Singapore with a legit alternative
to pirated songs. But soon, the competition came for "Suds" and his company. Though Apple iTunes is still not officially here in Singapore now, Nokia
has recently launched its music store here. And Sony Ericsson too, has partnered SingTel to offer a direct–to–mobile music download service.
Soundbuzz, meanwhile, was a much smaller player and had a less extensive music collection. Plus, it somehow only supported the Internet Explorer
browser, likely because of its Windows Media back–end, which kept out a lot of users. The final nail in the coffin must have been its sale to Motorola,
a company that invented the cellphone and won millions over with the iconic Razr phone, but somehow still managed to lose direction in its cellphone
business thanks to poor management and decision–making. Before Soundbuzz shuts its store, it advises users to download and back up all the stuff
they bought. Users should

There should always be researches to open new stores and expand business all over the world.
The marketing environment at the present situation is very competitive. Companies like Apple with iTunes store, Amazon with lots of music, movies,
games and every other product that HMV sells, and many other international companies making way to UK for their business, HMV need to stand
out from each one of them to continue making good business. For this they might need to make some minor as well as some major changes within
company to keep on attracting customers. Lots of people have now started buying music and movies through internet via iTunes store and Amazon
stores because they are very easy and less time consuming ever. HMV is facing competition from these and many other companies on its business.
These companies are making it much easier for customers to shop from home and save time. HMV also has its online market but it is not as strong as
the others. One reason behind it may be not going global. HMV is always trying to attract customers to their physical stores rather than the internet
stores making it more interesting to the customers to shop. But this might not always be the case. Some customers may not have time to go for
interesting shopping in this very busy world. So not losing its focus on physical stores it also needs to look forward to competition in the virtual internet

The article Advertising: The Whole or Only Some of the Truth by Tibor R. Machan states that only telling the partial truth is ethical inadvertising. I
completely agree with the author's standpoint and am trying to defend his viewpoints by supporting in four aspects. Firstly, I am going to prove
Machan's position that sales associates are selling a combination of product, environment and service. Although there will be various prices for the
same product at different stores, sales associates are not obligated to provide all of the locations that sell the product, and the price of said product at
each location. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To prove this, he demonstrated that even apart from advertising, people often enough advance a biased perspective on themselves, their skills,
looks, and so on (Machan 585) first by using the example of CV and dating to show how people give others an overstated first impression. Then by
claiming commercial relationships usually take place between strangers (Mahan 589), he finally reaches his position. In his example, people will
highlight his/her advantages and try to diminish his/her disadvantage as much as possible when going to a date or sending a resume to a potential
company he/she may work for. At this point, the potential criticism may claim that it's a false analogy by comparing commercial advertising as
going on date or sending a CV. People show their best image on a date or people listing all their asset in a resume is their private business. It is
their own interest to do so. But in terms of commercial advertising, advertiser is in his or her public life. There is no difference between an
advertiser and a doctor or journalist in some ways. Advertisers should take some responsibility to play as a public role, thus to give some probable
benefits for people on the other side. With this false analogy (Exhibit 1) the potential criticism may claim that Machan's position that commercial
advertising should be forgiven for putting one's best foot forward is less convincing.

Techniques used to avoid flood duplication.
1. Include HOP COUNTER in the header packet which decrement at each hop along the path
2. Keep tracking of packed that have been flooded, to avoid sending them a second time. Where Source Router puts a sequence number in each packet

What is it? Answer:
Store–and–Forward: Store–and–Forward switching will wait until the entire frame has arrived prior to forwarding it. This method stores the entire
frame in memory. Once the frame is in memory, the switch checks the destination address, source address, and the CRC. If no errors are present, the
frame is forwarded to the appropriate port. This process ensures that corrupted or truncated frames do not affect the destination network. While
Cut–Through: Cut–Through switching will begin forwarding the frame as soon as the destination address is identified. The difference between this and
Store–and–Forward is that Store–and–Forward receives the whole frame before forwarding. Since frame errors cannot be detected by reading only the
destination address, Cut–Through may impact network performance by forwarding corrupted or truncated frames.
These bad frames can create broadcast storms where in several devices on the network respond to the corrupted frames simultaneously.

Recycling in Retail
Retail Management Changes Like any other sector of the market, the industry of recycled merchandise has undergone a range of changes in
Australia, just like anywhere else in the world. For example, one of the biggest changes involves the creation and evolution of new technology and
network development, such as the concept of eBay and the online flea market arena. For example, eBay in Australia has been around for just 13
years, and has undergone a complete evolution from the time that it first began to the type of things its selling right now at the greatest level of
popularity. Ebay began as an online marketplace strictly for collectible toys and hard to find items from Americana or yesteryear: "'The weird and
wacky is what eBay's bread and butter was for many years.' Now the biggest–selling categories are similar to what you would find in a shopping centre
clothes, homewares, consumer electronics and motors, which is 'a really big category particularly in Australia'. The most expensive item sold on eBay
Australia was the last–ever Holden Monaro to come off the car–maker's production line. It was auctioned for $187,600 in February, with all proceeds
going to the Leukemia Foundation" (news.com, 2009). Ebay is not the only website for the online shopping of used materials that has become popular.

Japan Apparel Industry
How does the vertically disintegrated/fragmented distribution system in Japan co–ordinate along the value chain?
Japanese apparel industry is an industry where enormous number and variety of firms contract across markets to produce and sell the merchandise
collectively. The spinning firms procure raw materials from importers and act like the principal fabric maker, coordinating production among the many
participants. Thread brokers buy the thread from the spinning firms and send it to firms that finish or sometimes dye the thread. Once finished, the
thread is sent to either a weaving or a knitting firm, which in turn sends it a fabric wholesaler after producing the fabric. The wholesaler might send the

We now contrast this forward integration strategy, which seems so prevalent in the Apparel industry, with those brands that chose not to integrate but
follow a more fragmented distribution strategy. As the authors point out 'The best wholesalers are not always the best retailers, and vice versa'.
Therefore, it doesn't always make sense for apparel manufacturers to integrate forward into retailing unlike Five Foxes and Aoki. Firms have to do a
Cost–Benefit Analysis between directly dealing with the market or inter–firms along the value chain of the apparel. The cost for obtaining market
information via integration usually exceeds the benefits in industries such as Men's dress shirts, socks and children's clothes.
San'yo Shokai is an example of a wholesaler with an array of apparel ranging from men's clothing to women's and children's. It is a large
organisation with sales of 136 Billion yen as of 1999. Instead of integrating forward, it brought about economies of scope by building a distribution
network with both, large department stores and other forms of retailers. Catering to both genders and all age groups helped it achieve further
economies of scope which ultimately led to economies of scale. It was a value proposition to its retail partners as it could offer a complete product
line for different types of consumers who patronised the retail stores. This allowed it to garner higher business

Pay It Forward Research Paper
It's time to start paying it forward, not paying it back. In the book Pay it Forward, a boy named Trevor got an assignment to think of how to
change the world and put in action, which creates the Pay it Forward movement. Through the Pay it Forward movement, Trevor affects change,
shows the power of one, and stands against the greater, me me me generation of society. The way Trevor affects change is through multiple ways.
In one way he changed a gangbanger area like New York, from helping a lonely old lady with her withering garden to when she died she had given
her will to a grocery store clerk who then bought a bike, saved a man from getting killed in a back alley, and that man went back to New York to
spread the word, even though it was awfully altered to fit gang violence. He had helped his social studies teacher with getting a girlfriend, and in turn
had helped his own... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With the Pay it Forward movement he had changed the generation from being me me me to be everyone is equal and to pay it forward. The way
he did this is by a chain reaction, helping an old lady who then helped her grocery store clerk when they needed money. He then went out and rather
than buying a cool new motor cycle he had gotten a scooter and saved the money. That boy then saved another man who traveled to New York to
spread that movement with gangs in order to keep the violence down. That is how he has affected society. Trevor has changed the world in this
book with just simple acts, and it's clear just how powerful one person, no matter the age, can be. That is how the Pay it forward book and it's
movement really are, along with how someone can make it happen. Trevor has shown the power of one, how he has affected a whole generation of
people, and how he stands against the society of me me me. The question now is how can someone in the generation change it in real life, rather than

Switching Techniques Can Be Classified Based On Network...
Switching Techniques: Switching techniques can be classified based on network characteristics. The main task of switching technique is to establish
connection between input and output channel inside the router. Circuit switched networks reserve a physical path before transmitting the data packets,
while packet switched networks transmit the packets without reserving the entire path. Packet–switched networks for communications within large
multi core systems on–chip are made for enhanced performance, scalability, modularity, and design productivity compared to busses and dedicated
signal wires (R. Mutha, 2012). Circuit Switching Technique: In this technique an electrical interconnection is established between the source and
destination and then the message is transmitted. This technique pre–allocates resources or links across more than one hop to the entire message. Links
must be reserved to transmit the entire message. For that a small setup message also called as a probe is sent into the network and reservation for the
links needed to transmit the entire message or multiple messages is done from the source to the destination. Once the probe reaches the destination
(having successfully allocated the necessary links), the destination sends back an acknowledgement message to the source. As soon as the source
receives the acknowledgement message, the message will be released by the source then the message can travel quickly through the network. When the

Buying A Trendy Fashion Sheet
One of the golden rules when buying a trendy fashion garment is to exercise caution because trends are short–lived. You should beware of micro trends
in particular because they are usually only around for a season, sometimes less. Ideally, you should buy a trendy item early on in the fashion cycle
before it hits the mainstream before it is considered, in fashion circles, to be on the way out. The time to buy into a fashion trend is when the celebrities
and models are seen wearing it. The problem is that new up–and–coming trends are hard to get hold of before they hit the mainstream. If you do
manage to find a garment demonstrating the latest cutting–edge trend in a fashion–forward boutique then you are likely to pay an arm and a leg for it. ...

Barbara Kingsolver Springing Forward Summary
"Barbara Kingsolver originally began college as a piano major but switched over to biology and sometime after, she obtained her master's degree
in evolutionary biology and ecology." (Kingsolver) She sometimes writes about problems, having to deal with biodiversity, and the environment.
Kingsolver made some incredible points in her speech "Springing forward". She has strong feeling about how she believes in only using a seed
once then having to buy more, she believes that everything should be natural and regenerated. Kingsolver uses Logos, Ethos, and Pathos in
"Springing forward" She tells us everything she knows about how having pure plants are better than hybrid plants. The Speech "Springing
Forward" is about how she don't believe in buying Hybrid seeds for her garden every year. This is an example of a Logo. She would rather use
Heirlooms and have her plants pollinated by the birds and the bees instead of putting chemicals on her plants. This would help the plants to produce
multiple times instead of just once. She wants her plants to grow back each year instead of having to buy more seeds each year. According to this,
"Seed companies have made and sold... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

they have to grow. Farmers would rather have their plants grown to where they taste amazing to their customers. The more generation of plants the

money for it. "Many heirlooms have been lost entirely."(Kingsolver) This means there are barely any plants out there that are pure

Notes On Communications And Networking
University of People Department of Computer Science Assignment 4 CS 2204: COMMUNICATIONS AND NETWORKING 1. What are the ways in
which we can keep a check on the number of duplicate packets generated due to the Flooding Routing technique? Flooding Routing technique is a static
algorithm method of transmitting datagrams. It is the simplest, distributed routing scheme for sending packets from a single source to many recipients.
Generally, the flooding method is used in cases where it is necessary to propagate the same information to multiple destination computers. For example,
when certain data stored on the central server of an organization must be updated on the regional servers located at the branch offices of the
organization. Datagram is sent through all possible routes available from the router except through the route it was received. Although simple method,
it results in a large number of duplicate packets being transmitted all over the network from a router. To prevent duplication, a number of methods can
be implemented. Assign a sequence number that uniquely identifies each datagram. Each time a datagram is sent, the sequence number is incremented.
If an incoming datagram is numbered less than the previous datagram, it is identified as duplicate and is discarded. Assign a hop count number for each
datagram. Before transmitting the datagram from the sending computer, the exact number of hops is set to a datagram. On reaching each router, the

Evaluation of Opportunities in the case
To evaluate the opportunities for Burt's Bees in the case we would need to do an internal analysis of Burt's Bees i.e. look into its strengths, weaknesses,
threat and opportunity vis–Г –vis the competition and the market scenario in 1997. Burt's Bees ' success was hard won through 18~ to 24 months of
pruning after the company 's move from Guilford, Maine in 1994. Production was extremely labor intensive in Maine due to the large supply of
low–paid unskilled labor, Burt 's Bees had to automate production in North Carolina, though, to minimize the cost of its highly paid skilled labor. Thus

The other players are investing huge amounts on expanding their distribution network and hence expanding their customer base. Another internal threat
is that Burt's Bees does not have the capability to expand their manufacturing units and forward integrate them to their own retail outlets. This is not
only a huge risk but also a huge investment which if fails can take the company with it to the dust.
TWOS Analysis
Now, to analyze these facts and points in a better manner we should do a TOWS analysis. In this analysis we try to see the Strength and weaknesses
vis–Г –vis the threats and opportunities in the following manner:

Opportunity
Match strengths to specific opportunities
You need to invest to overcome weakness or to compensate or negate

These are strengths that can be used to reduce or avoid the consequences of a threat There may be little that you can do to avoid the impact. Create or

Weakness
Opportunity
The strength and opportunity lies in the "all natural" secret of Burt's Bees
The second thing to be mentioned here is the retail presence and the provision present for expansion in this area
To tap the opportunity of leveraging on the all natural products, huge investment in terms of media spends is required to position the product in the

Hot Topic as a retailer is so successful because their culture is "based on a passion for a concept" (Manning & Curtis, 2015, p. 281). They focus on
what is hot at the moment and use people's passion for music as their driving force. Having employees at an average age of 25 years, helps keep the

as a way to maintain and further his previous business venture of Amalgamated Bean Coffee Trading Company Limited. He originally established
internet cafГ©s under the brand name of Coffee Day Fresh, but by 2000 the internet became more available to the masses. This lade to a shift in

Tim Hortons Case Study
As a Tim Hortons team member I understand the importance of having a motivated and engaged staff when running a store. The most successfully run
businesses are often in direct correlation to the quality of the staff working there, and the work put forth by the staff is highly influenced by the strength
of their head leadership. Restaurant owners are the unseen hand behind the front line of any operating Tim Hortons store and they know it is as
important to achieve staff satisfaction as it is to have high customer satisfaction. As a restaurant owner I would ensure that all team members felt

The Importance Of End Systems

  • 1. The Importance Of End Systems In today's society networking is pivotal structure in the way information is transferred and received between people. In the business world we need to send information to people to at fast rates to meet user satisfaction. Imagine places like wall street that is the mecca of business that constantly send information back and forth to get the right information to keep investor aware or up to date on a forever changing stock market. Picture one the biggest libraries in america the library of congress in washington dc that has network structure to accommodate millions of people that commute and use resources such online biography and web capabilities every day. For system like this to exist we depend on a common network layer that is used all ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the second and third layer of osi model it is called data link and network link. Data link is packaging data into frames and transmitting those frames on the network and performing the error detection correction by uniquely identifying the network devices with an address, and handling the flow control. Data link layer has two sub layer which is called media access control which is know as the computer unique identifier to which the network is assigned The mac address comes with a 48 bit address that is assign to it devices network interface card/.Second sub layer is llc which stand for logic link control, which is know as the multiplex functions that is process of over media access control To provide a means of exchanging data between end users across a MAC–controlled link or a collection of LANs interconnected by MAC–level bridges. Layer 3 switching is another example of fragment–free switching. Up to now, this discussion has concentrated on switching and bridging at the data link layer Layer 2 of the Open System Interconnection OSI model. When bridge technology was first developed, it was not practical to build wire–speed bridges with large numbers of high–speed ports because of the manufacturing cost involved. With improved technology, many functions previously implemented in software were moved into the hardware, increasing performance and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 2. Control Mechanism Control Mechanisms and the Starbucks Corporation The purpose of this paper is to identify four types of control mechanisms, feed–forward, concurrent, feedback, and financial, and their application in the Starbuck Corporation. The control mechanisms are compared and contrasted along with determining the effectiveness of these control mechanisms, and examining the positive and negative reactions. Finally, students will explain how these controls affect the four functions of management. Control Mechanisms Every business needs to have controls in place to remain competitive and survive in business. Without controls, the company would operate in chaos for a short period before the business collapses. When operating a business, a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The information gained from concurrent controls enables Starbucks to keep a pulse on the heart of their business. Today, Starbucks is second only to Caribou in market capitalization (Yahoo, 2010). Feedback control happens after every event and helps Starbucks stay within acceptable standards. Starbucks takes pride in their ability to use feedback to be creative, innovative, and responsive to their stakeholders. For example, management noticed the need for health benefits in the late 1980s for their employees. Feedback also brought the introduction of Wi–Fi, which helped make their coffee shops a community gathering place. Most recently, Starbucks revamped its food offerings to items made without artificial flavors, trans–fats, dyes, and high–fructose corn syrup (Starbucks, 2010). The effectiveness of Starbucks feedback controls allows them to try new ways of doing business and helps secure their success. Financial controls have been another key component to Starbucks' success. They monitor the individual cash flow from each store all the way up to the CFOs of Starbucks. Store managers can determine the stores needs based on proper information from the financial controls. An effective illustration of this is Starbucks' more than 550 specialty cafes and kiosks in North America (Starbucks, 2010). The kiosks serve freshly brewed coffee to the public and provide instant ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Green Winter Through The Kick Starter Website In efforts to grow the Seedfolk City Farm, Barker initiated Operation Green Winter through the kick–starter website, Indiegogo. This was a community–focused urban agriculture project that helped raise funds to continue operating the greenhouses during the winter. It also enabled them to provide consistent year–round after–school employment for four of the young people that helped to get the project off the ground. This campaign was in addition to several community events held in efforts to raise money for the "green winter". This was as a result of weather implications in Rochester, NY, which prevented them from growing fresh fruits and vegetables. The pilot aquaponic farming system would "winterize" the greenhouse by sustaining a year–round farming operation that enabled them to triple production capabilities with four new vertical grow beds. Not only did the money raised help physically make these changes possible, but it also provided the youth with more after school activities as a result of these expansions. ProsperRochester has relied on its partnerships to achieve its goals. In order to establish these greenhouses, ProsperRochester teamed up with In The City/Off The Grid. ICOG is a Rochester–based cooperative business that offers solar installation services and general construction services, while engaging in community development projects and employee training. Thankfully, ICOG was able to assist with building and provide solar panels for the greenhouses. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Mobile Phone and Music http://www.slideshare.net/hazman/digital–revolution–soundbuzz–singapore–case–studies As of February 18, 2008, SoundBuzz Pte., Ltd. was acquired by Motorola, Inc. SoundBuzz Pte., Ltd. operates as an online and mobile music company in South East Asia, Australia, Hong Kong, India, and the People's Republic of China. The company operates online and mobile music retail stores. It offers downloadable music and videos, back–end technology, digital rights clearances, and acquisition of licenses from music publishers and recording companies. The company's catalogue includes various tracks and mobile music derivatives. Its online music stores are distributed through soundbuzz.com and Windows Media Player 10. The company was founded in 1999 and is... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Along with the dramatic demise of Motorola's mobile phone business in the past two years, Soundbuzz now also faces closure of its own. It's an ironic end for a company that seemed ahead of its time when it came out selling legit music in 1999 – at the dawn of illegal downloads. Many were surprised at the time, when Soundbuzz CEO Sudhanshu Sarronwala, a former MTV stalwart, managed to court the music labels even when they were more interested in blocking people from ripping CDs. Its music collection was built up very fast, providing users in Singapore with a legit alternative to pirated songs. But soon, the competition came for "Suds" and his company. Though Apple iTunes is still not officially here in Singapore now, Nokia has recently launched its music store here. And Sony Ericsson too, has partnered SingTel to offer a direct–to–mobile music download service. Soundbuzz, meanwhile, was a much smaller player and had a less extensive music collection. Plus, it somehow only supported the Internet Explorer browser, likely because of its Windows Media back–end, which kept out a lot of users. The final nail in the coffin must have been its sale to Motorola, a company that invented the cellphone and won millions over with the iconic Razr phone, but somehow still managed to lose direction in its cellphone business thanks to poor management and decision–making. Before Soundbuzz shuts its store, it advises users to download and back up all the stuff they bought. Users should ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Determine the NPV if Cantoon uses the forward rate instead of the spot rate to forecast the future spot rate of the euro, and elects to partially finance the acquisition. ANSWER a. Discount factor based on a required return of 20% for 8 years = .232 $ to be received in 8 years = 12,000,000 Euros Г— $1.2 = $14,400,000 PV = $14,400,000 (1 + .2)8 = $3,340,800 NPV = $3,340,800 – $4,000,000 = –$659,200 b. Waitrose Case Study Introduction As the fastest growing supermarket chain in the past three years with an 8.7% growth rate between 2011 and 2012 & gross sales of ВЈ2.8 billion (JLP Interim Report 2012) Waitrose's current strategy for rapid growth and store expansion has meant that the distribution network will require re–aligning to future capacities. Enhanced Logistical capabilities and efficiencies are required to manage the increased volume of stores across the UK network. Evaluation of Current Distribution Network Waitrose's core operations are situated at four RDC's located in Bracknell, Aylesford, Brinklow and Bardon, with a fifth in Leyland due to open in mid 2013 (figure 1), "47% of the distribution is through 3rd party DC's" (Jon, 2012).... The stock is placed into line by product (Appendix 2) and loaded onto picking lanes by store. The implementation of a new "WMS to drive productivity in our supply chain will aid efficiency and enhance the flexibility of our offer" (JLP Interim Report 2012), this process will increase efficiency and reduce errors. Fresh The Fresh warehouse is cleared following each wave. There is a grid formation being utilised where each store has its own lane (size dependent on store sq ft) (Appendix 3) A day consists of three waves in the fresh warehouse. The morning wave 3 is picked and reaches store by the afternoon, wave 2 reaches store by the evening and wave 1 is completed overnight, therefore operating a 24 hour system. This system is seen as efficient as it enables constant replenishment deliveries throughout. Ambient The Ambient warehouse is organised by product type and name, faster moving goods closer to despatch area for efficiency. 6 delivery waves are undertaken and this is decided on priority of despatching certain product types to store and the distance to store. • 7. Ann Taylor's A Wardrobe Source From Busy Socially Upscale... Founded in 1954, Ann Taylor was designed as a "wardrobe source from busy socially upscale women" (Assenza, Eisner, & Kuperman, 2009, pg. 2–4). By 1994 the Ann Taylor Company ventured into the New York stock exchange launching into the "mail catalog business, fragrance line and free standing shoe stores positioned to supplement the Ann Taylor Store" (Assenza et al., 2009, pg. 2–4). By 1995 the company decided to end the mail order attempt and launch a new branch called the Ann Taylor LOFT that focused on lower priced apparel. With the stakes high the company continued to flourish until 2008 Krill "announced a restructuring plan" (Assenza et al., 2009, pg. 2–5) due to the economic crises. Krill's strategy was to differentiate the Ann Taylor Company and continue to dominate the market for long term success. Krill's approach and strategy focused on three key areas; "the evolution of our brands and channels, the reduction of our overall cost structure and the continued pursuit of growth" (Assenza et al., 2009, pg. 2–5). The company continued to put fourth resources and efforts to improve the company's information systems. The store levels focused on inventory of the stores and the percentage of turn over recognizing the customer's wants and needs. Firstly, I am going to prove Machan's position that sales associates are selling a combination of product, environment and service. To prove this, he demonstrated that even apart from advertising, people often enough advance a biased perspective on themselves, their skills, looks, and so on (Machan 585) first by using the example of CV and dating to show how people give others an overstated first impression. Then by claiming commercial relationships usually take place between strangers (Mahan 589), he finally reaches his position. In his example, people will highlight his/her advantages and try to diminish his/her disadvantage as much as possible when going to a date or sending a resume to a potential company he/she may work for. At this point, the potential criticism may claim that it's a false analogy by comparing commercial advertising as going on date or sending a CV. People show their best image on a date or people listing all their asset in a resume is their private business. It is their own interest to do so. But in terms of commercial advertising, advertiser is in his or her public life. There is no difference between an advertiser and a doctor or journalist in some ways. Advertisers should take some responsibility to play as a public role, thus to give some probable benefits for people on the other side. With this false analogy (Exhibit 1) the potential criticism may claim that Machan's position that commercial advertising should be forgiven for putting one's best foot forward is less convincing. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... What is it? Answer: Store–and–Forward: Store–and–Forward switching will wait until the entire frame has arrived prior to forwarding it. This method stores the entire frame in memory. Once the frame is in memory, the switch checks the destination address, source address, and the CRC. If no errors are present, the frame is forwarded to the appropriate port. This process ensures that corrupted or truncated frames do not affect the destination network. While Cut–Through: Cut–Through switching will begin forwarding the frame as soon as the destination address is identified. The difference between this and Store–and–Forward is that Store–and–Forward receives the whole frame before forwarding. Since frame errors cannot be detected by reading only the destination address, Cut–Through may impact network performance by forwarding corrupted or truncated frames. These bad frames can create broadcast storms where in several devices on the network respond to the corrupted frames simultaneously. We now contrast this forward integration strategy, which seems so prevalent in the Apparel industry, with those brands that chose not to integrate but follow a more fragmented distribution strategy. As the authors point out 'The best wholesalers are not always the best retailers, and vice versa'. Therefore, it doesn't always make sense for apparel manufacturers to integrate forward into retailing unlike Five Foxes and Aoki. Firms have to do a Cost–Benefit Analysis between directly dealing with the market or inter–firms along the value chain of the apparel. The cost for obtaining market information via integration usually exceeds the benefits in industries such as Men's dress shirts, socks and children's clothes. Packet–switched networks for communications within large multi core systems on–chip are made for enhanced performance, scalability, modularity, and design productivity compared to busses and dedicated signal wires (R. What are the ways in which we can keep a check on the number of duplicate packets generated due to the Flooding Routing technique? Flooding Routing technique is a static algorithm method of transmitting datagrams. It is the simplest, distributed routing scheme for sending packets from a single source to many recipients. Generally, the flooding method is used in cases where it is necessary to propagate the same information to multiple destination computers. For example, when certain data stored on the central server of an organization must be updated on the regional servers located at the branch offices of the organization.
