During the two years I lived in Charlottesville, Virginia, I passed by Monticello everyday on my way from home to school; I finally went up there
to visit right before I left the town. Weaving through the giant plantation around it, the shuttle took us from the foot of the mountain to the hilltop,
where the house rested. The house was relatively small compared to the size of the field surrounding it. Through several preservation and minor
renovation, the floor we stepped on was still the original. I remembered walking under the house and circling back through all the servants'
facilities. All the dependencies were built into the side of the mountain in a U shape. (Figure 6 &7) As for the main house for Jefferson and his
family, the plan of the house showed that several rooms, especially the parlor, were hexagons, for maximizing daylight in the house, which followed

Located in the Quad, standing tall is a building that represents critical and memorable moments in history. The University of Alabama is home to the
beautiful Amelia Gorgas Library. This is where students can go study, relax, eat, check out books, and socialize. The library was built in 1939 and is
located at the site of the first original library on campus. During the Civil War the originalbuilding was known as the Rotunda. It was a military school
for the confederate army. In 1865 Rotunda was burned down by troops sent to destroy the educational buildings on campus. In its place Gorgas library

Over the course of a month, I dedicated time to volunteer with agencies that focus on providing safe and productive programs for children. Stop Child
Abuse Now also known as SCAN, focuses on stopping/preventing child abuse in homes. This agency teams with many different agencies around
Richmond to help parents and children coop and learn way to avoid situations of abuse. My duty for volunteering was teaming with Virginia
Commonwealth University Health Services and making SCAN a known organization throughout Richmond community. VCU threw a wellness block

I believe that my academic strengths, leadership ability, and appreciation of those who are different from me make me a great candidate for the
Jefferson scholarship. I've demonstrated unusual academic ability since elementary school. During my time at River Oaks Elementary, an International
