The Hellenic Parliament is located in the Old Royal Palace in Athens and serves as the supreme democratic institution representing Greek citizens through 300 elected members of parliament. The palace was originally built in the 1800s to serve as the residence for King Otto and Queen Amalia, and housed subsequent monarchs until Greece became a republic in 1922. In 1935, the first parliamentary session was held in the newly constructed debating chamber, establishing the building as the permanent home of the Hellenic Parliament.
