Upper Austria is a state (Bundesland) located in the northern part of Austria. It has a population of over 1.4 million people and its capital and largest city is Linz. Upper Austria is traditionally divided into four regions - Hausruckviertel, Innviertel, Mühlviertel, and Traunviertel. The state has a number of historic castles, palaces, and monuments and provides various outdoor activities for residents and tourists such as skiing, golfing, hiking, and cycling.
