  • #11 Okies - farm families from the Southern Plains who migrated to California Dust Bowl - a series of periodic dust storms in the midwestern flat land created by wind erosion of the soil. Great Plains - broad expanse of flat land much of it covered in prairie, steppe and grassland. (Colorado, Kansas, Montana, Nebraska, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Texas, and Wyoming)
