2.1 Abstract of Ryong et la 1989 " IN VITRO proof-of-concept "
Alcohol and water extracts from 20 edible fungi species belonging to the following genera— Agaricum, Armillaria, Boletus,
Collybia, Coriolus, Cortinfrius, Flammulina, Ganoderma, Hirneola, Lentinus, Lyophyilum, Pleurotus, Sarcodon, Tremella, and
Tricholoma— were added to primary culture of cells isolated from atherosclerotic lesions of human aorta to ascertain their influence
on the major cellular manifestations of atherosclerosis. Thirteen of the20 tested extracts were antiatherosclerotic in culture, that is,
they caused the decrease in thecellular cholesterol level and/or the inhibition of cellular proliferation ([3
H]thymidine incorporation).
The antiatherogenic (prophylactic) action of mushroom extracts was also tested using cell culture. The extracts were added to the
primary culture of normal intimal cells, which had been stimulated by atherogenic serum from coronary heart disease (CHD) patients
to undergo atherogenic transformation (increase in totalcholesterol and stimulation of proliferation). Ten of the 20 tested extracts
displayed antiatherogenic as well as antiatherosclerotic effects. Four mushroom species were chosen for thestudy of
antiatherosclerotic effects in vivo. Cultivation of “atherosclerotic” cells during 24 hr in the presence of serum from healthy subjects
who had had mushroom meals resulted in a 21–30% decrease in the cellular cholesterol level. Theatherogenic serum obtained from
CHD patients after dietary mushroom consumption partly (30–41%) lost its ability to increase the cellular cholesterol content. The
current study presents datasuggesting that some mushroom species may be useful as dietary supplements in the prevention and

3.1 One Carbon Chain feedback inhibitor
Grahn: " HCY, homocysteine, is an amino acid that has no other
function than to rotate the One Carbon Ring ( +CH3 – CH3, meth
yldonoring, methylacceptoring ). The know-how platform of HCY is
recent, only some 15 – 20 years. It was created when the “ cholesterol-
doctrin “ solved most cardiovascular matters, and Kilmer McCully was
its first victim. The graph was created based on EFSA ( European Food
Safety Authority ) biomarkers ( as red ). HCY is an EFSA
biomarker.
3.2 Potent stereoisomeric phospholipidic modifier
Grahn: " All ingredients that reduce PC/PE are hypocholesteremic. I
deducted the endogenous reduction mechanism of LDL receptor
increase. Later in 2008 Nestle researchers in South Korea proved it.
The causality of cardiovascular and antiatherogenic therapy on

Grahn: " It was already known that DEA starting at SAH hydrolas (
SAHH ) inhibition in the One Carbon Ring first reduces the PC/PE
ratio ending up in delta6desaturase downgrading. Ms Cheon could
show that this kinetic action was mediated by SREBP 1 ( sterol
regulatory binding protein 1 ). The EFSA biomarkers that DEA
influence via increased membrane fluidity and blood tonicing
are blood pressure and platelet activity"
3.4 Epigenetic food ingredient
Grahn: " Pragmatically expressed the One C ring is rotating via CH3
donoring and acceptoring. The folatedependent and folateindependent
two effects on HCY reduction and is speeding up the ring rotation. The
third less know effect on HCY reduction is SAH hydrolas inhibition.
Kinetically DEA decrease HCY and hence slows down the One C Ring
rotation. Glapski’s Dr thesis in France 2004 was highy revealing in
showing the feedback inhibition control between SAH and SAM.
Epigenetism is not yet an EFSA accepted biomarker, but it will become.
