These past few years have accelerated changes and disrupted how companies lead, enable, empower, and engage around communications. Leaders in corporate communications, human resources, and IT are all tackling new responsibilities and challenges in connecting with employees who no longer regularly share the same workspace and may be overwhelmed with increased communication volume, velocity, and variety.
We have been catapulted into a new employee experience paradigm, and it can be challenging to get our bearings. We now need to plan for the future, but it can be hard to consider the future when the present is filled with unique and pressing communication challenges. Yet, the future of communication may hold answers to problems we are experiencing today; it may inspire us to change and, perhaps most importantly, enable us to understand how to prepare to embrace a better one.
We have gathered leading industry experts on employee communications, intranets, the digital workplace, and employee experience to help us navigate the years ahead. Join James Robertson, a Step Two global thought leader and author on digital employee experience, Suzie Robinson, author of the popular ClearBox employee experience platforms report, and Richard Harbridge, a celebrated Microsoft MVP, as they share insight on how to better understand, leverage, and prepare for the future of employee communications.
The world of employee management has undergone a rapid and evolving change. #Leaders and #managers have navigated unexpected and challenging times. Workers worldwide are rethinking where and how they work and why they work where they do. The need to re-evaluate #culture, #technology, and #Management Practices is greater today than it ever has been before.
With the continued shift towards #HybridWork, the importance of a physical workplace has decreased, and the importance of cultural and technological advantage has become more evident. What are organizations looking to do in the future to continue to improve the employee experience, and what successes are they having now as they try new tools, methods, and approaches?
Today, leaders and managers have new digitally-enabled options from new mainstream categories of digital employee management tools like #Ally.io for #ObjectiveManagement / #Goal Management to #Microsoft Viva Insights for improving how we, our teams, and our organization work. The demands of employees are higher than ever when it comes to learning and can only be met with pro-active and #Connected Learning initiatives like those powered by #Microsoft Viva Learning, while #Employee Recognition, #Employee Connection, and #Employee Networking remain essential areas of focus during a time of considerable workforce change.
Join Richard Harbridge, a Microsoft MVP and internationally recognized expert on #Microsoft365 and Asif Rehmani, MVP, a Microsoft MVP and expert on #Adoption and #Learning, as they share insight on how to better plan for, prepare for and benefit from the #Future Of Employee Management.

Digital Business Transformation | Strategy + Executionfeature[23]
Speed of innovation and certainty of your digital technology strategy is your new IP.
Market leading brands know they are competing in the 3rd Industrial Revolution – The Software Economy – and they will live or die by their digital adoption. Companies mature in digital business transformation are outperforming, making more money, and are more profitable than their peers.
These Digital Leaders are proactively transforming their business models and leading their segments through the frenetic pace of social, mobile, analytics, cloud, and the Internet of Everything. Unfortunately, digital is still shrouded in confusion, viewed as a cost center, and punished with inadequate funding.
How do you transform modern businesses at scale by creating technology-based capabilities, products, services, and business outcomes that delivers your authentic brand promise?
What is Digital transformation?
Far too often digital transformation is confused with Digitalization or with Digitization with a key focus on technologies or platform. But Digital transformation is not about technologies: it's about transforming the whole prganisation through a system thinking approach and it's about rethinking operational models, business models, processes, and policies, taking people, both employees and customers at the core of the process.
Because the goal of any digital transformation is to increase value creation for the business through digitally enhanced processes that increase internal efficiency and overall customer and employee satisfaction.
Digital transformation is en emergent need in today's post-industrial society: we moved fast from an industrial to a post-industrial era, however operational models and management practices haven't evolved fast enough.
For this reason, many organisations prefer to think of Digital transformation as the adoption of digital technologies on the top of mainly inefficient and obsolete operational models, rather than facing a true in depth transformation that begins with understanding the current culture, the customers, and the overall business.
These slides, were presented to students from IIM (india) at ESPC London on July 27th 2017 with the goal to provide tomorrow's digital leaders a broad vision of what is digital transformation by looking at what and the reasons why change is happening in the business world, define Digital transformation and its dimensions through the lenses of an Experience economy and a post-industrial era. The presentation also presents the Competing Value Framework as a key tool to start understanding organsation's culture and define a digital transformation roadmap and strategy.

Planning your Digital Workplace: A Systems-Based Planning ApproachChristian Buckley
When deploying a “Digital Workplace,” where do you begin? What is needed is an iterative, strategic, and systems-based approach of identifying core challenges at the team and company level, working with key stakeholders to identify appropriate strategies, building a solution using a scalable, repeatable, and sustainable change model. This approach drives stakeholder engagement, and ensures a more holistic solution that aligns with the needs of the business at every level. In this presentation, we walk through a systems-based planning approach for Enterprise Collaboration. Topics will include:
--Engaging leaders in a systems analysis, identifying high-priority needs and challenges
--Outlining a set of targeted and strategic actions based on common customer scenarios
--Developing an implementation plan to support successful operational and improvement strategies
The intent of this presentation is to help organizations incorporate systems-based planning into their Digital Workplace planning processes, using real-world customer examples, and to receive tips on how to fold these best practices into their own strategies.
A successful collaboration strategy includes technology, process alignment, and the user experiences. However, organizations tend to focus the most on technology, and the least on people -- when the opposite should be true. As this presentation explains, culture is the key to any successful collaboration strategy.

Metaverse & The Employee Experience: What You Need To KnowRichard Harbridge
Back in the day we would use 'who installed a browser' that wasn't the default as an 'indirect signal' that denoted a level of individual interest in improving their digital productivity or experience. Nowadays we are swimming in indirect signals - from who organizes the most meetings (named if you use Audit log etc) to dynamics around networking (Viva Insights) to who uses Teams Apps (another great indirect signal of expanding productivity/investing in digital experiences).
What still works best though is direct signals like comments, nominations, champion programs (yearly and NON MANAGER & NON IT focused) and more that help identify people and map them/amplify their visibility as potential super collaborators, those with high amounts of digital debt and those who would better benefit from greater digital fitness or digital experience investments.

Proactive Governance & Adoption In Microsoft 365 - M365OttawaRichard Harbridge
Proactive governance of Microsoft 365 is critical as organizations continue to depend more and more on the competitive advantage and productivity it can provide. Microsoft 365’s value and impact are dependent on whether it is leveraged (adopted) and how efficiently it is leveraged (governance). However Microsoft 365 can be daunting to tackle around governance and management. Where do you start? Is Microsoft Teams governance what should be prioritized first? What part of Teams governance? The Microsoft Teams lifecycle and the Microsoft Teams lifecycle management? What do the business stakeholders lead, and what does IT lead? Neuro-symbolic is not enough, we need neuro-*semantic*Frank van Harmelen
Neuro-symbolic (NeSy) AI is on the rise. However, simply machine learning on just any symbolic structure is not sufficient to really harvest the gains of NeSy. These will only be gained when the symbolic structures have an actual semantics. I give an operational definition of semantics as “predictable inference”.
All of this illustrated with link prediction over knowledge graphs, but the argument is general.

GDG Cloud Southlake #33: Boule & Rebala: Effective AppSec in SDLC using Deplo...James Anderson
Effective Application Security in Software Delivery lifecycle using Deployment Firewall and DBOM
The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).

Search and Society: Reimagining Information Access for Radical FuturesBhaskar Mitra
The field of Information retrieval (IR) is currently undergoing a transformative shift, at least partly due to the emerging applications of generative AI to information access. In this talk, we will deliberate on the sociotechnical implications of generative AI for information access. We will argue that there is both a critical necessity and an exciting opportunity for the IR community to re-center our research agendas on societal needs while dismantling the artificial separation between the work on fairness, accountability, transparency, and ethics in IR and the rest of IR research. Instead of adopting a reactionary strategy of trying to mitigate potential social harms from emerging technologies, the community should aim to proactively set the research agenda for the kinds of systems we should build inspired by diverse explicitly stated sociotechnical imaginaries. The sociotechnical imaginaries that underpin the design and development of information access technologies needs to be explicitly articulated, and we need to develop theories of change in context of these diverse perspectives. Our guiding future imaginaries must be informed by other academic fields, such as democratic theory and critical theory, and should be co-developed with social science scholars, legal scholars, civil rights and social justice activists, and artists, among others.
