For sure for early testing but also as important and powerful way of develop and iterate ideas inside the team. Sometimes without even words.
I combined this short input with several exercises, where the students created in several iterations and with very strikt time-boxing different prototypes based on a certain challenge.
Interesting to see how effective athe hand-over from a first version of a prototype to another team worked out in the end.

Because a design system serves not just many products, but also many stakeholders, from designers and engineers, to marketers and content strategists. Each product team and each discipline brings a unique set of goals and perspectives, and often they’re at odds. These disagreements, if left unresolved, can K.O. your design system before it even gets started. I know, because it’s happened to me. The good news is — it doesn’t need to be this hard. Through my successes and failures building design systems, I’ve uncovered some strategies you can use to keep your team moving forward in harmony. DevOps ist aus der IT nicht mehr wegzudenken und hat sich als Arbeitsweise etabliert, die nicht nur die Qualität und operative Effizienz verbessert, sondern auch eine nachhaltige Entwicklung ermöglicht. In den meisten Unternehmen ist die IT jedoch eine Minderheit. Wie können wir mit den Ideen und Erkenntnissen aus der DevOps Welt die ganze Firma voranbringen? Warum funktioniert die agile Zusammenarbeit nicht automatisch mit anderen Abteilungen? Was macht die ITler so besonders?
Die Schnittstelle zwischen allen Mitarbeitern und IT Themen ist die interne IT. Sie trägt die Verantwortung dafür, dass alle Mitarbeiter mit Hilfe von IT ihre Aufgaben effizient und effektiv erledigen können. Während die interne IT oftmals nur als Kostenstelle betrachtet wird, leistet sie in Wahrheit einen sehr hohen Beitrag zur Wertschöpfungskette: Schlechte Werkzeuge führen direkt zu langsamer Arbeit und frustrieren, gute Werkzeuge befähigen die Mitarbeiter und erhöhen die Freude an der gemeinsamen Arbeit.
Heute leisten es sich viele Unternehmen noch, dass ihre Mitarbeiter auf einer digitalisierten Plattform manuelle Tätigkeiten verrichten. Messgrößen sind etwa die Anzahl der Copy-Paste Vorgänge (Mensch als technische Schnittstelle), die Anzahl an internen Emails mit Dateianhang (Dokumente werden vervielfältigt anstatt sie zentral bereit zu stellen) sowie die Anzahl der Logins die ein Mitarbeiter täglich absolviert (schwach oder gar nicht integrierte Systeme). Die Herausforderungen der fortschreitenden Digitalisierung und Verteuerung von Arbeitskraft erfordern hier auch ein Umdenken.
Der Vortrag zeichnet einen Weg von DevOps in der IT zu einem neuen Denkansatz für den Umgang mit IT im Unternehmen. Dabei entwickeln sich Mitarbeiter von IT Konsumenten zu beteiligten Nutzern, die den Computer als Werkzeug für sich entdecken können. Die interne IT stellt nicht nur gute Services zur Verfügung sondern fokussiert sich auf die Produktivität und Zufriedenheit aller Mitarbeiter.

The Complexity Curve: How to Design for Simplicity (SXSW, March 2012)Dave Hogue
Interfaces and devices are providing more and more power and functionality to people, and in many cases this additional power is accompanied by increasing complexity. Although people have more experience and are more sophisticated, it still takes time to learn new interfaces, information, and interactions. Although we are able to learn and use these often difficult interfaces, we increasingly seek and appreciate simplicity.
The Complexity Curve describes how a project moves from boundless opportunity and wonderful ideas to requirements checklists and constraints then finally (but only rarely) to simplicity and elegance. Where many projects call themselves complete when the necessary features have been included, few push forward and strive to deliver the pleasing and delightful experiences that arise from simplicity, focus, and purpose.
David M. Hogue, Ph.D. - VP of Experience Design, applied psychologist, and adjunct faculty member at San Francisco State University - introduces the Complexity Curve, discuss why our innovative ideas seem to fade over the course of a project, explain why "feature complete" is not the same as "optimal experience", and offer some methods for driving projects toward simplicity and elegance.

Our problem can be thought of in the following way: “we know how many Lego pieces we sell, yet we don’t know what Lego set our customers buy.” The Data Science team took over this initiative, which resulted in an evolution of our analytics journey. It is a story of innovation, resilience, agility and grit.
The effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on corporate America shined the spotlight on office furniture manufacturers to solve for ways on which the office can be made safe again. The team would have never imagined how relevant our work on product application analytics would become. Product application analytics became an industry priority overnight.
The proposal presented this year is the story of how data science is helping corporations bring people back to the office and set the path to lead the reinvention of the office space.
After groundbreaking milestones to overcome technical challenges, the most important question is: What do we do with this? How do we scale this? How do we turn this opportunity into a true competitive advantage? The response: stop thinking about this work as a data science project and start to think about this as an analytics-enabled experience.
During our session we will cover the technical elements that we overcame as a team to set-up a pipeline that ingests semi-structured and unstructured data at scale, performs analytics and produces digital experiences for multiple users.
This presentation will be particularly insightful for Data Scientists, Data Engineers and analytics leaders who are seeking to better understand how to augment the value of data for their organization

Search and Society: Reimagining Information Access for Radical FuturesBhaskar Mitra
The field of Information retrieval (IR) is currently undergoing a transformative shift, at least partly due to the emerging applications of generative AI to information access. In this talk, we will deliberate on the sociotechnical implications of generative AI for information access. We will argue that there is both a critical necessity and an exciting opportunity for the IR community to re-center our research agendas on societal needs while dismantling the artificial separation between the work on fairness, accountability, transparency, and ethics in IR and the rest of IR research. Instead of adopting a reactionary strategy of trying to mitigate potential social harms from emerging technologies, the community should aim to proactively set the research agenda for the kinds of systems we should build inspired by diverse explicitly stated sociotechnical imaginaries. The sociotechnical imaginaries that underpin the design and development of information access technologies needs to be explicitly articulated, and we need to develop theories of change in context of these diverse perspectives. Our guiding future imaginaries must be informed by other academic fields, such as democratic theory and critical theory, and should be co-developed with social science scholars, legal scholars, civil rights and social justice activists, and artists, among others.
